My experience with the people one on one face-to-face was great! Very kind, professional people. My experience with customer service on the other hand was unfortunate. I got two emails stating that my bill was due May 1, obviously a technological glitch, but not my problem. I was under the impression my bill was not due until then. I reiterated myself several times to the person over the phone and they had zero interest in trying to accommodate or compensate for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, my belongings are still at this location, so I'm not going to stress myself any further but public storage really needs to work on their customer service. Never again. read more

When we originally rented the space at this particular Public Storage it was a pleasure. Then slowly things started to change-we got robbed and broken into. Not only us but quite a few others were robbed. The thieves broke in and of course no one saw a thing!!!! They took quite a lot of valuable things but of course the insurance we had with public storage was of no value either. There were things that I had that were over 25+ years old and who knew I would need a receipt of 25+ years old! Come on!!!! Not only did public storage NOT care we were robbed but didn't even come to our defense to their insurance company. Then approximately a year later of the robbery they got new office staff and they knew us and were great! They upped the rental amount 3 times and this last time they said no discount, no deal no NOTHING!!!!! Well needless to say we moved and now they say we still owe them! I beg your pardon we owe you NOTHING. We moved out at the end of the month swept out the unit and caused no problem! But now public storage is someone else's problem. Enjoy your time in pig heaven! Office hours are 9:30-6pm and they are Never there!!! I had an emergency and had to get inside my storage left 2 messages and I am still waiting for a call back. I had to wait for other people to come inside so I can go inside with them and earn their trust. I never read the reviews until now because of my bad experience!!! The location is dirty, smelly, unkempt location with holes in walls, trash in the stairwell- looks like someone living on location. The only cameras on location are in front at the gate and by the back gate. These cameras are only monitored 24/7 but this does not guarantee safety inside of the building. My belongings including my work laptop and Nikon DSLR Camera were stolen from my ******overlocked****** unit. I returned from trip out of town and a number of irreplaceable valuables were gone!!! When I notified the staff on site, they responded without emotion or feeling to contact insurance company. There were no investigations or apologies made by on site management. After filing a police report my lease was unexpectedly terminated!!!!!!!!!!! I strongly believe that this was an inside job! Rat infested!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. AVOID storing your belongings here. Rats have completely infested the place. The problem has not been eradicated. They put traps in the hallway but that does nothing to fix the rats that are living inside my unit. They will not do anything to make the problem better. They continue to charge me above market rate and the cost keeps I increasing rapidly. I bought into the gimmick of the first month for $1. And now I'm paying $400 a month for two years. They don't ever return my calls from corporate and have been evading me for months. I just want my stuff out for good and to stop getting ripped off. At this point, I've paid close to $10,000 to keep my stuff safe there and it is not safe. It's made it impossible to afford getting everything moved out of there because they charge so much. My boxes have been chewed through and there is rat feces all over all of my stuff. I've held off on writing this review in hopes I would receive a call back, but nobody cares at all. PLEASE do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this place, I'd been a customer of public storage for 3 years at different felicities over LA County. And believe me when I tell you they'll be nice with you the first day, because they want you to rent a unit with them, but after day one, they'll be rude with you the whole time. Short version if this review: Staff is extremely rude, I'm actually afraid that they have access to my information. The process to getting and using a moving cart is complicated and you'll have to walk a lot. If you are slightly late on your payment you can expect to pay huge amounts of dollars on late and liens fees. The elevator doesn't always work and is super slow. The place smells horrible. If you're a few days late on you payment they'll start threatening you with auctioning your unit, and they'll brake your lock and might even get inside your unit, if you read others reviews here, there's also a lot a reports of thing being stolen. Long version if this review: 1.- First of all the process to get a moving cart is super complicated, the facility is divided in two big buildings/structures, the first building witch is right next to the office, and the second building witch is all the way to the back of the facility, if you get the building that's all the way to the back of the facility, is like 300 feet away from the office, so first you have to park your car at the office and give them a valid ID/DRIVER LICENSE, then they'll give you a key to unlock the moving cart, now you have to get in your vehicle and drive inside the facility and that mean getting out of the car putting the code for the gate to open, getting back into your car, driving all the way to the back of the facility and park your car, now you have to walk 300 feet back to where they have their moving carts locked, which is back at the main gate, now unlock the moving cart and walk back 300 feet to where the back building is and now you can start moving things in your unit, oh and that's if the elevator is working, sometimes it doesn't work, I have a video to prove it. After you finish using the moving cart you have to walk back 300 feet to return the moving cart and get your ID back and now walk another 300 feet back to your own vehicle, so in total you have to walk 1200 feet/4 blocks and to use a moving cart. 2. - Second of all, if you just get slightly late, they'll charge you late fees and lien fees, and they will start threatening you with auctioning your unit, I was late 15 days approx. and they charged me 77$ on late and liens fees, and they also BROKE my lock, I have pictures to prove it, I had a very expensive lock and they broke it and replaced it with their own lock all because I was late a few days, I really can't believe how rude and disrespectful the whole staff is, and the worst part is that the door to my unit has capacity for 2 locks, so if they wanted to put their own lock because I was late on my payment, then they could've just put their lock as a second lock in the units door, all without having to break my expensive lock, this is unbelievable, they deliberately/purposely Chose to break my lock, this is just the worst experience I have had with public storage, and asked them why did they break my lock, if all they wanted is to put their lock in my unit they could've done it without touching my lock, to what they answered that, that's part of their policy. I also explained them that I was going thru really tough times and I was in a car accident and that's why I couldn't pay on time and they didn't care one bit, I asked them for mercy and to please wave the late and lean fees and that I would pay everything else, and they said NO, even after I'd been a customer for 3 years. 3. - Third of all, the freaking elevator on the back building, is either super slow or its simply not operating/working at all, and then you have to wait forever for them to get it working again, unbelievable. 4. - After you have rented a unit, in other words after day one, whenever you come back you can expect to never find any staff available and if there's someone available they'll be super rude, when the elevator wasn't working I had to call them several times before they'd fix it, two of the times I called to office the girl there hung up the phone on me. Also when the girl came back from removing their lock from my unit she was super rude, I said thanks for removing the lock and she didn't even answered back and she always has an angry face. 5. - I'm sure I'm missing things here, but well, I don't have all the time in the world to express how incredible dissatisfied I'm with this Public storage, I'm referring to the one located in Saticoy read more

The place at 12940 public storage saticoy & coldwater canyon NoHo ; 1 star 'cause the whole building is so dirty and smell of sh*t the hallways are very unpleasant to walk and it is kind of depressing to be in there for just 10 min; The elevators are always broken ; all the time elevators malfunctioning and there is no way to get 2nd and 3th floor without elevators and one of my friends who had rented there for a couple of years said the the place is RAT INFESTED; rats are running from unit to unit destroying your belongings .He did not tell me that until now he show me some pictures of death rats also in the middle of the hallways building . Who leaves reviews for a storage facility, really? That's probably why I haven't before, but felt compelled lately through the service I've always noticed from their staff there. First of all, I've been using my unit there for what seems like 3+ years. I recall finding it through using Public Storage's website, looking for the best rate and a good location to store my musical instruments. I was hesitant to choose this location for a couple of reasons - the first it being on Saticoy and Coldwater. Not only was that further from where I live - the neighborhood doesn't look like it'd be a safe place to be. I worried about Public Storage's security in that neighborhood. The 2nd reason is that this is not one of their climate controlled buildings. So there is no heater, and no air conditioning. As an owner of sensitive wooden musical instruments, this seemed like a problem. But the price of this unit couldn't be ignored, so I had a closer look. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and given grade A personable service. I was brought up to the unit to check it out, and I liked it a lot. I saw it in late spring, where the heat was already setting in. For a building not climate controlled, I expected it to be hot and stuffy. But the unit I got was on the 2nd floor of a 3 story structure. Basically, heat rises and cool falls. Being in the middle was just right. The air was perfect, and has been ever since. Since then, I've been coming and going. I'm not a fan of long term storage. But basically, this is my off-site garage space for an apartment unit I have no private garage. I keep my guitars, cases, and all other musical equipment not immediately needed in there. I have some keepsakes I wouldn't usually keep. But I have the room, so why not? As of late, I've met both Alice and Raquetta who have been more than awesome. Both are sweet and accommodating, and I couldn't be more happy on the property. They're the reason I'm reviewing a Public Storage place. ...Really, who does this? Anyway, thank you to Public Storage and to Alice & Raquetta. My rent will be in on the 1st. ;-) read more

Renee helped me a ton with my questions. I asked her about prices, locks, and she even advised us why we needed bags for our items. It's nice to hear someone direct you to the right place in order to keep your items safe and from being damaged. I also loved how she told us why securing your items with a certain lock was important. Heck I had no idea we needed certain locks and that will keep our stuff safe. We were very hesitant at first to store our stuff anywhere but knowing her honesty and guidance gave us peace to store our items with your company. My belongings were damaged while in your company's storage at 12940 Saticoy St, N Hollywood, CA. I rented a unit at this location from June 19-October 19. I hadn't returned to the unit until October when I was vacating, only to discover that the unit above mine had been leaking something through the ceiling onto my property. I reported it to the manager on duty immediately, who suggested I contact the insurance company, which you recommended and REQUIRE in order to store things with you. They stated they'd be unable to reimburse me for damaged items because it was not due to natural disaster or vandalism. Upon contacting your regional manager, she said that while she could not refund the cost of the rent, she would at least get back to me with whether she could refund the cost of the insurance which is the LEAST your company could do. I NEVER heard back from anyone. I had to throw away a $1,000 couch along with many other personal items such as wall hangings and pictures that were stained and covered with an unknown substance. If I didn't care about the welfare of my belongings, I could have stored them in a friend's backyard FOR FREE. Incredibly poor customer service and problem resolution on your end. I will never store anything with Public Storage again and I will suggest my associates avoid your businesses, as well. I wish I could give less than 1 star to this dump. read more

Having worked in jobs where I had to deal with customers in person, I always like to make it known when I receive great service. I had a storage unit at this particular Public Storage location for over 3 years. Like everyone else, money is tight nowadays, so I had to close out my unit because I could no longer afford it. So my hubby and I have been getting our stuff out of our unit over the last few days. Today we got the last of our stuff from the unit, and went into the office to close out our account. Raquetta Brooks was the person working that day. I could tell she was having a busy day, as there were two customers ahead of me she was helping. By the time she was able to close out our account, it was close to closing time. She did not rush through, she took her time and was super nice and helpful! Just had one of the worst experiences ever here. My unit was burglarized and they stole a lot of my valuable belongings. I'm staying with my mom right now since I'm recovering from very invasive surgery so i had most of my belongings in a public storage unit. Today I went after not going for over a month and find out I've been burglarized. They don't have cameras inside so units can be easily burglarized. read more

The staff is nice to you at first just to get you in, then after you see who they really are.I've been with them for a year and then some one broke into my storage and for 2 months I've been going back and forth with the staff in the office and miss Grace who is the supervisor for them to cut the lock for me to get in there. All this time I'm paying my rent . They finally cut the lock and i ask them if they can reimburse me some of my money back and she did not even listen to what i have to say before she make her decision not to do it.
