My vehicle was broken into several times while stored here. The management never let me know. The only way I found out was when the police called me to let me know my vehicle was unsecured. Not only is management inept, but rates increase all the time. It's like every time I got robbed, my rates went up. In the end I ended storing my vehicle here because there was nothing left storing. BE AWARE!!!! Same as all other reviews. The price will go up and mine went up over $100. They bank on you not reading the whole contract and small print. That says they can raise the monthly fee at any time .They are supposed to notify you but sometimes they don't and people usually don't look at emails from their storage facility. Super frustrating and shady. Because once you have all your things there it is a headache to get it all out and find other choices and time it just right so you don't get billed for the next month. If you are disciplined and only need the storage for three months and can put in your vacate date on time and get your things out before they bill you again is the only way the promotion fee will be beneficial. read more

Beware Bait and Switch! Save yourself a lot of frustration and go elsewhere. I rented a storage unit from this location lured in with a special offer of reduced cost that was to remain in effect for the duration of the rental. A couple months later the price increased from $75 to $105. I called and spoke with the manager who could care less. She said I signed the contract that states they can raise the rate by any amount anytime. They raised the rate again this month to $115. They know moving my stuff to another storage facility will not be easy and cost me in time and money. I will get my things out and never use Public Storage again. read more

Now I went to go do it again and it said it was accepted then not even 20 minutes later it was taken back off an have to go do the steps to put it back on ! This was my first experience in self storage. I researched on the internet, drove by some storage facilities and decided upon Public Storage on Hookston in Pleasant Hill. It was clean and the location appears to be safe. I stopped in to take a look and Dominique took me to see a couple of storage units so that I could get an idea of what size I needed. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, and articulate. I came back the next day with my husband and with Dominique's assistance, rented a storage unit. Dominique was very informative and made the process easy and insured we knew how to enter the facility on our own in the future. I secured my unit during a President's Day promotion in February. The customer rep assured me that my monthly rental rate would remain $69, on a recorded call. Lo & behold, I got a rate increase effective 9/1 raising my rate to $92/month. After contacting P.S. customer service via chat, they apologized for the "misinformation" I was given and said that renters are subject to a rate increase at any time. Hard to believe this is legal. Absolute pirates. I would expect moderate increase after a year at the soonest, but a significant increase after 6 months, is totally unacceptable. My appeal to cancel my rental rate increase was denied. They count on moving all of your stuff somewhere else is an inconvenience you aren't willing to take. read more

The excuse of, "that's market value" doesn't play in this instance since the EXACT unit is going for $88/mo online. And, instead of bringing the price increase down, a simple change that a territory manager could make via computer, they're making me change units to get the new price, which includes moving ALL of my stuff to a new unit. read more

Got a 10'X10' for $150 and they raised it 5 months later to $205 and 5 months later to $265. I did not want the to continue to raise rates knowing the hassle to move. Then they changed their hours to close at 6pm making it hard to get to the unit. Could not get out soon enough. More reasonable storage in the area. read more

Break ins and burglaries are a regular occurrence at this facility. Owners need to step up, but don't seem to care. Until they secure the facility with some barbed wire or 24 hour security, I would recommend you find another facility. read more

Pro tip: tell them you want to cancel and they'll lower your rent by 20%. They increased my monthly rent well over 100% over the 4 years i used them, with no justification, then when I scheduled my move-out date as the 3rd of the month they insisted I pay the entire ~$290 monthly fee for those 3 days and refused to give a pro-rated refund. To add insult to injury, after I canceled my spot they sent me an offer to lower my rate by 20% if I don't cancel. Seems like it would be cheaper to just give pro-rated refunds and leave people with a good impression instead of incentivizing previous customers to spread the word about how to lower your monthly rent, but maybe not. The positives: they do have a locking gate at the front, but on many occasions it has been open when I arrived, so it's not consistent, and it stays open long after you enter, so it wouldn't really prevent people from entering behind existing customers. read more

Garbage management. They make it impossible to talk to anyone on site or on the phone. Either there never there or there too lazy to do there jobs. I've had so many headaches here I can't wait to close this account and be done! HIGHLY SUGGEST you take your stuff elsewhere. If there's a half star in the rating scale, I would give them that grade. There's just one cart at the lobby and chained with two (2) padlocks. Since it was already near closing, I had to run in to the office to ask where I can get a cart. I explained to her that there is a cart at the lobby but chained and she said to use code "2020". The code did not work. Someone who came out of the elevator helped me check the numbers "2020" were indeed on the padlock. However, one lady customer said that they usually get a key from the front desk. I can deduce that Olivia, the front desk receptionist, was in a hurry to leave that she just did not have time to wait for the key so she told me a code that was not even working. If you are going to run a public storage, pls ensure that you stock your place with the proper equipment - carts that are not double chained...and people who have customer service skills!!!! It is like going to a grocery and not letting your customers use the cart for shopping convenience!!! read more

I've been renting outside parking place in Public Storage for a 2 month now. Few weeks back it's been brake in, and a lot of my personal stuff was gone from my trailer. Place is not safe at all, somebody can get in after hours and do whatever they want, cameras not really helpfull. So, you rent a spot, then get your stuff stolen from storage and no one is responsible for it. Basically I think number one priority is security if you run this kind of business, but not here for sure. I looked around and find out that storages like that ALWAYS experience brake ins. Think about twice before you rent a spot there, absolutely no valuables should be stored there, otherwise you can end up like me - stuff is gone and nobody care about it. These five stars are solely based on service as I am a new tenant at this location. Olivia was extremely helpful in making sure I got the right unit that I needed and even helped me run around the property to find another cart to move my things. I was able to be honest that I wasn't having a good day and it feels really good to be greeted by a stranger who has no expectations, lets be honest storage and moving can be a pain in the butt. The keypad machines don't work so everyone has to use the same loading zone door and one elevator. Yes, this is a busy compared to other locations but maybe because it closes so early(6pm). My unit wasn't clean (beads were scattered around and the hallways aren't cleaned daily because I saw pony tails and clips in the hall for a week. A HUGE issue are the Dolly's. They are falling apart and difficult to use. I had to go home to get zip ties so the handles would stop coming out and the wheel on the other is bent among other issues. The one elevator is very slow when coming back down and there is no way to keep the loading zone doors open when loading. The place needs electrical and equipment improvements. The cement floor when entering the loading zone is uneven and makes it hard when pushing a dolly, I even tripped. read more

I am shocked at this company, in the first year my rent more than doubled. I was told I could get a reduced rate by having them apply for me since they were renting spaces to new customers for the same size and half the price. I was denied multiple times and customer service didn't understand why. The first time the property manager didn't even apply as promised. Told to wait I incurred numerous late fees. Then they told me if I moved two units down they could take off about 20 dollars for the same exact space. No one ever offered a reason for my getting denied. I would stay away from this place as they hook you in and then they will raise your rent. If your late they will call and harass you over and over with no respect that there might be a reason you're not answering as I learned when the called in the middle of a family funeral. It's not customer friendly even if they say things to give you hope it's all a ploy and their intent for money only not about provided a service. Despite being right in front of a security camera - the Corporate personnel were unable to provide any information after nearly three weeks. I have used other storage from the past and all of them have pretty much the same policies. What I'm looking for is the price differences from each other and of course location and security but one thing I noticed on this Public Storage location was the service of the manager on duty Bobbie. She is very accommodating and very helpful knowledgeable of the location. I admire her truthfulness. I also noticed the cleanliness of the space, the security cameras are well in placed huge elevator and spacious hallways and doors. Well ventilated and we'll lighten spaces. Great job! read more

My unit was broken into and nobody cared is basically the summary. ~$3k worth of tools was taken from my interior, upstairs unit. There are signs all over about cameras but they dont cover the inside of the buildings, only the outside which is absolute garbage. Almost everyone has the same lock and someone (I am not immediately pointing at employees) is able to open them, I dont know if there is some sort of master key or they are picking the locks or whatnot. I had insurance on the unit but because the lock wasnt broken and there was no obvious forced entry, my claim was denied. I would guess someone is just going down the hall and opening the units, rummaging around, then closing them. How often do most ppl go to their storage units really? When I told the front desk, there was virtually no follow up, zero concern really, and I'd go so far to say as there was no surprise. I had to repeatedly call to get updates on acquisition of the video for the time period in question as apparently only the district manager can view it. It was multiple weeks until I was contacted and I dont believe it would have happened if I hadnt been agitating. Long story short, if you need to have a storage unit, use someone else. I consider this group to be apathetic at best and the facility to be insecure. read more

STOP HARASSING ME!!!!!!! I called to get a quote on 8/10. Within 10 minutes, the local branch called me. I drove by and decided NOT to store there. The person called me again on 8/11 at 9am and a second time on 8/11 at 4:45. They called me on 8/12 at 9:30 am, 8/13 at 9:30 am, 8/14 twice at 9:30 (again even though I am a night student and they keep waking me up) and at 6:00 pm, 8/17 at 9:45 am, then again twice today. The first call at 1:00 pm I told them that I would call the cops for harassment if they do not stop calling me. But they did not listen and called another time at 2:00 pm who the person was very rude to me on the phone. I hate your company and will NEVER EVER use you. If this is how you try and get customers, I hate to see the way you treat people when they are customers. GO AWAY!!!! Stop calling me!!! I am also putting in a complaint with the better business bureau. read more
