Public Storage at 380 Crenshaw Blvd in Torrance, CA is staffed by the most non-caring possibly complicit in the theft of customers merchandise. My storage unit was broken into and all of my belongings with the exception of furniture (too heavy) were taken. The local police informed me that I was the 5th renter in as many months to have my belongings stolen from this location; they believed it was the staff doing the stealing. Management was not helpful in investigations and they did not keep footage of the coming and goings into the unit. Management knew there was an issue with this location and they did nothing to help make us aware of the problem; no emails, notice nothing posted giving us an opportunity to further protect our belongings. The staff will lie to you when you sign up and tell you that they walk around and check the locks twice daily, they do not. My unit was visibly broken into and nobody caught it until i went there and discovered it. Public Storage is a $2billion corporation who's business model is to allow their customers to be violated and prayed on. Upon reporting my break in to office staff and management Ireceived a very matter of fact, "sorry, that happens" LITERALLY that is what I was told!! I was one of the lucky few, I had insurance and was compensated 10% of the value of what was stolen. My advice to you if you are considering renting from this company; DON'T! Go anywhere else but this location. If you must, don't put anything of significant value in their locations. Purchase external insurance in addition to the shit they sell you (they own the company that they sell you). Put 2 locks on your unit. set up camera inside your unit, you will know who to prosecute when they attempt or do steal your belongings. Good luck. read more

This is by far the best Public Storage place I have been to! I have to thank Vanesa for going out of her way to provide the best possible customer service. She truly made my moving experience great. Not only did she stay after hours to wait for me to arrive, she patiently assisted me in finding the perfect storage unit, and made sure I was all set to move my stuff in that evening. I got a great deal on the storage unit, even better than other Public Storage locations in the area. In addition, the facilities are extremely clean. The layout allows for easy access to your storage unit, which makes moving in and out extremely simple. They even have carts that you can use at any time. I would highly recommend this facility. There is a great human lesson in Public Storage. If you can't let go of your crap it is going to cost a small fortune. Public Storage adds to that lesson with the great concept of everything you do is going to cost you in a grandly disproportionate way each step of the way. If you want to pay over the phone, it costs you $20. Note, for an average unit that is 20 percent of your monthly fee. If you try to pay on line, and lose a password, you can ask it to be resent 20 times but forget it. If you call to discuss it, you get recorded messages on how you can pay over the phone for $20, plus late fees. Then, then lein process; oye vey. Learn the mistake from the show Storage Wars. If you have to store it, consider it gone already. I now live in the financial district of Manhattan NY. When people move, they put their furniture on the sidewalk and walk away. Shipping, storing, etc, all totally foolish endeavors. Public Storage is like crack for people who can't face that their personal effects are worthless. Public storage is certainly owned and controlled by people who understand this personal weakness and maximize their profits accordingly. Though I would like to be mad at them, I am mad at myself for doing it, AGAIN! Thanks for listening. PS, you are better off buying stuff at the auction of a storage unit, then storing that crap. I rented from this Public Storage because of the advertised holiday discount. I didn't like the fact that no one mentioned to that you are required to purchase insurance to rent a space here even though I spoke to 3 people on the phone when making the reservation. Also, the latch on my unit is damaged and I have been trying to get it fixed for the past 30 days and all I keep getting is excuses. So not very happy with Public Storage at this time. read more

Very pleased with this operation. Went on line to reserve a space and before I finished I got a call from them thanking me for my interest and if I had any questions. Got several emails reminding of the date and time of my signing in with them. Had Josh help me out. He took me to the space and showed me other features as restroom, water fountains, moving carts available, etc. He took me to the entry key pad and had me input my personal entry/exit number to make sure I had that down. Josh went over and explained all the paperwork, and the girls at the desk gave me suggestions of things I may need to properly store certain items such as large pictures or paintings. Classic bait and switch advertising, except they didn't offer a bigger space! I reserved one on their web site and when I arrived at my appointment to rent it they told me it was gone, but they could give me another one the same size for more money. What? The girl at the counter was embarrassed to use these tactics, she called a manager off site and he pushed her to continue and she was upset. I asked to speak with the manager on the phone and he said he would give me the quoted price, then he spoke to the girl again before hanging up. After she entered the rental into the system, she turned to me and said I would have to pay the higher price for the first month but then they could probably lower it after that. By the way, the higher price was about 80 percent more than the price I had agreed to on their web site. If you find yourself at this Public Storage facility, run to your car and speed away! That's what I finally did. Shame on the manager for causing so much conflict for the service staff to endure! read more

Biggest problem SECURITY CAMS NOT on every level. My second floor unit was burglarized and they have no idea of when or by who. If you use this facility be sure there is a security cam facing your unit. The service was much better when it was America's Best. I had moved from the PS further south on Crenshaw because I was not happy with PS there. I'm becoming increasingly unhappy with this facility as well. read more

This place is terrible! I have rented here before and have had problems, when I moved out the elevator was out!! Unfortunately now I tried them out again because of the price and have a space again. The lights have been off on my floor which is the second floor and I have to use my phone flash light just to see inside my storage! It has been over 3 weeks this has been an issue, and I called the district manager a week ago and left a message and have yet to get a call back! Also the back gate wasn't working either! I am going to be looking to move out of this storage unit and find a different place because it is pretty ridiculous! I would NOT recommend renting from this place! Stay away!!! If I could give 0 stars I would!!! This is NOT a way to run a business. Even the ladies working the front said people have been complaining for weeks and still they have no idea when its supposed to be fixed! read more

My stuff was stolen, no sign of forced entry what so ever!!!! Looks like I am not the first person to post that my stuff was stolen at this location. When I filed the Police report the officer informed me that there have been several robberies at this location and that they found a couple drug addicts living there who were responsible. Yet I didn't receive any word from the management telling me to come check my stuff or that this was going on. When I first joined they assured me that the place was covered in cameras and that staff did walk-throughs, now that my stuff was stolen they don't have any cameras, actually just installed them last week!!! No supervision of whats going on, no one knows anything!! The insurance ( Sedgwick Storage Insurance ) is not covering it because they say there is no sign of forced entry, ever heard of a picked lock or duplicate key?!?!? Also I am not the only one that is reporting a theft!!!! Be careful leaving your stuff here, and if you have stuff here come down and make sure it's still there!!!! I have had this unit here for a couple of years now and when we first signed up, everyone was very helpful and it was a smooth transaction. This is very close to my home and to my work which is what made me choose this storage place to begin with as I can come here during my breaks during the week when it's less crowded. After having this unit now for a couple of years, I have a very different opinion. There was an issue with the elevator being broken about a year ago and they were very very unhelpful with everything. My unit is on the 3rd floor and I showed up there with a truck full of items to take up and realized that the elevator was broken and had been broken for quite some time and they had no estimate on when it would be fixed (there is only one elevator per building so my only other option here was to carry things up 3 flights of stairs which was not going to happen with 2 small children in tow). Their response to this was pretty much..."Oh well, there's nothing we can do - it's broken". After numerous phone calls to the corporate office and a ton of complaining, they did agree to give me a credit for one month (literally about 15 phone calls later which is just ridiculous). More recently I came here again, with a trunk full of stuff to drop off on a Monday morning and there were no carts in the cart room (there is room for 6 carts) and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot (neither one of them was a huge moving truck). When I asked the ladies at the front desk if there were any more carts available, they pretty much stared at each other and then told me that it was hard to believe that all 6 were being used. After a few minutes of awkward silence while they again sat and stared at each other, one finally said that she would go find one (I'm pretty sure that they have cameras in every hallway so this should have been a pretty simple task to find one). Long story short - I left there once again with my trunk full of the items that I needed to drop off. When I pay for a storage unit like this, not only am I paying for the unit itself, but I am paying for a service which I am not getting here. With a $10 increase in the rent over the last year or so, you would think that they could at least offer some better service. Very disappointed in this Public Storage and I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you are storing your items for long periods of time and don't need to access it often. read more
