Originally posted June 2014 - Public Storage removed my original review... Theft at Public Storage 2710 E. Garvey, West Covina, CA - June 2014. Other tenants units have also been burglarized at this location. I am writing this in the hopes that no one else will suffer the loss that my family has... * When you check online reviews (YELP, blogs etc.), It doesn't matter how NICE management seems to be, what is important is how SAFE and secure your valued belongings will be at that location. * Cameras are ineffective at this property: No side- view - the cameras are not facing the confirmed locations where perpetrators have illegally entered the property. Cobwebs are on the cameras. * Several cars can enter the property without using an access code as 2-3 cars can enter if following one another. * Management did not even have access to past videotapes or logs on the tenants who had entered or exited the property via the key codes at the gates. * Public Storage REALLY needs to look into allowing tenants to use their OWN locks and not force tenants to use the cylinder locks as those are EXTREMELY easy to "pick" by criminals. * The cameras on the entire property and are useless in deterring theft and useless in assisting law enforcement solve crimes after-the-fact as I was told by Management that the cameras don't work properly and there are no night vision cameras. * There aren't any cameras in any of the hallways or at the entrance of the units located inside of the building. * Trees are overgrown onto property walls making it easy for criminals to enter the property. They don't have any barbed wire or any other type of protection from illegal entry. * The property is located next to a "seedy" motel where a great deal of transients live and congregate. The motel is constantly being visited by law enforcement. This location makes Public Storage an extremely easy target for criminal theft (there's only 1 business between the hotel & the storage). In addition, there have been several thefts/burglaries at the motel (Five Star Inn, West Covina, CA). * Your belongings are ONLY protected by your lock. * The insurance company (Sedgwick/Perfect Solutions) denied my claim due to the fact that the assailants were able to enter my unit by picking/lock bumping vs. breaking the lock!!! Here are some things I learned from my unfortunate situation: * In some cases, your homeowner's or renter's insurance may cover theft at an off-site storage unit. You should consult your insurance agent to confirm this. * Per Management, all Public Storage locations require insurance when renting a unit. The amount of the rental and insurance STEADILY INCREASE but their insurance essentially useless and a waste of money as most criminals are "pros" at picking locks and the insurance DOES NOT cover this type of crime. The insurance only covers "FORCED ENTRY" into your unit. Unfortunately there are some people who scam the insurance company by reporting thefts that are not valid to get money from insurance companies, sadly, honest people end up suffering for the criminal behavior. * Check your property often and take pictures every time you go. You will need proof of your property if your unit is burglarized. * Research the property make sure you know about all safety measures that are in place. Ask law enforcement to assist with providing a crime log for the storage facility you are interested in. * I have been told that "disk locks" are more secure than the average locks. I had a Master padlock on my unit along with a Public Storage issued cylinder lock and they still entered my storage without forced entry. * Keep an inventory of all of your items. * Keep original receipts, proof of purchase, user manuals and warranty documentation on file in case of theft, the insurance company will ask you to provide proof of ownership (keep this file in your home). * Do some research and make sure that the company is reputable and there aren't any tenants complaining of thefts (sometimes they are able to remove negative reviews but you should still give it a try). * It is so disheartening to see that human beings can be so evil as to take a calculated approach to find ways to steal possessions of others who have made an honest living to provide for their family yet the criminals end up benefiting from what others worked so hard for! * No matter what precautions you take, you could still become the victim of a theft at some point, you can't let fear prevent you from enjoying your life. I see Daniel and Cynthia everyday when I'm delivering the mail to them. Cynthia always has a smile and positive attitude when she greets me. I'm a 30 year mail carrier and it's nice to see a young person who is conscientious about their work and takes pride in doing a good job every day. Cynthia is such a good listener when I talk to her and I always feel that I'm a better person when I leave after delivering the mail. She gives this same personal touch to all of the customers that enter Public Storage. Daniel always has a smile too when I enter the business, and he greets me by my first name which is a very personal touch that customers appreciate. That shows me that Daniel cares very much about his customers business needs. It demonstrates that he wants to do good job and give each customer his best service in meeting their business needs. If I can give a zero star I would, the women are RACIST and rude and liars, they are untrustworthy The manager denise is not qualified to be in the position she is in poor management equals bad employees witch was displayed, you would think a industry this big would have people in high positions that can actually deescalate a situation and provide good customer service but nope I give this place a zero star For poor employees and even worse management with no solution. If your black you will be considered a threat and not allowed in the facility where u have your property. I'll definitely be reporting this whole place to the BBB. read more

Absolutely horrible in regards to customer service. No trash or dumpster for use after paying for years through the ass. As for the brat staff, yes brats. One day you will understand the frustration and hopefully you'll regret smiling and laughing when someone is going through years of their families lives and realizing your parents paid close to 50Gs of their hard earned money for nothing. These places, in general, are the ultimate depiction of greed preying upon the gluttony of America. It's disgusting what they charge but I commend the corporate fat cats for the business module. I had the pleasure of renting a storage unit at Public Sorage in West Covina and Tabitha was extremely helpful. She was patient with my questions even when I changed units half way through the process. She explained everything, showed me around including my unit. We just rented a storage space from Public Storage on Garvey Ave. in West Covina. The manager, Daniel was most helpful. His professionalism and courtesy was exemplary. The unit was very clean and well kept and they have a great selection of helpful supplies. We highly recommend this storage facility. read more

Facility is well-maintained...clean storage bays...exceptionally easy access to location and storage bay...outstanding telephone service first by phone with Cynthia and then by appointment in person with Manager Daniel who was very patient, thoroughly helpful, and professionally customer-oriented. read more

It seems as if this public storage has gathered the worst of the worst and has a full team of lazy and incompetent employees then again it falls on leadership. As soon as I find another location I'm out this has been a waste of time and money if your looking for a storage facility look elsewhere read more
