We came to this sit down restaurant in the airport and enjoyed most of our food. The service overall all was good, at times slow despite it being before the lunch rush. The portions of the entrees were reasonable and food was priced as one would expect in an airport, more expensive overall but were satiated after. This is the cafe at the airport. The restaurant in Chicago is fabulous. We almost always come here to eat before a flight as it is one of the best in Terminal 3. This morning they were a bit off. Went in with plenty of time for my next flight (45 minutes) and sat with my drink watching folks who'd arrived after me getting served. It was obvious that they'd lost my order. So I called the guy over and he went to check. Still nothing for a while and then I called him over again and he told me they were busy. Orders get lost; it happens. Ohare food scene is below standard compared to some of the airports I have been through such as DFW, MSP, or SEA. I'm not saying airport dining is anything but a work in progress in the USA... still in the slightly dumpy terminal 3, this is a brighter spot... I was in need of an adult beverage and had a great German beer parked worth some sticky chicken wings and a salad with much better than the old McLettuce stuff (iceberg and a few romaine leaves). Had breakfast and everything was very good. Their potatoes are different but seasoned very well with a sort of light sauce that works. I got their full breakfast; eggs, potatoes, bacon or maple sausage, and toast. I recommend the rustic sourdough toast with seeds - they bake their bread there - it's so good with their house-made butter and jam! Server was really sweet, I appreciated her in the chaotic environment. She said they are a farm to table place. Server was attentive after ordering. **Warning** you need to order from a QR code via cell camera to initiate any sort of attention from servers. #technology doesn't improve good service IMO. Was only here for a beer, so my experience is a bit limited. We just sat at the 'bar' that faces out into the concourse. It wasn't a private experience, but for an airport when you're killing time. Prices are high, but not abnormally high for airports so it's about what you'd expect. I can't recall what beer I had (I just had whatever my dining mate was already having), but it was good. Service was pretty slim, but again, it's an airport bar and we were only drinking, so we didn't need a whole lot. Overall, it's a fine option if you're looking for something a little nicer to grab some food or drink while waiting for your flight. The breakfast here is probably the most/one of the most expensive in the terminal, but the high quality ingredients helps justify the higher price point. Dinner is also good as well. Seeking respite during a layover at O'Hare, my girlfriend and I dined at Publican Tavern, at a two-top in the interior. We started with pints of local beer, which were served nice and cold, then ordered some food to share. The wings arrived first. We requested extra crispy, and we got extra crispy. Taste and texture were spot on. The buttermilk dill ranch (or whatever) on the side was good for dipping, really rounded out the flavor profile. You will likely need wet wipes for your fingers after eating these wings; plan accordingly. Next, a cheeseburger (with fries), and a salad. The burger was pretty good; I liked the bun, the quality of the meat, the yummy and restrained fixin's. Fries were decent, we ate every one of them. The salad also earns high marks for crispness, freshness, and titillatingly pleasant asparagus. If you ignore the screeching children and the clatter of luggage, you could almost forget you're in an airport. The wait staff seemed tired but maintained their poise and composure; real professionals. I could not have picked a better place to wait out a layover. read more

They were small and seemed to be panko bread crumb coated and oily. They lacked flavor even when dipped in the fish-sauce based dipping sauce which I would have expected to add more of an umami kick. Great airport eats! I always struggle to find good meals when at the airport. Everything is often overpriced and lower quality. I find this place to have high quality fresh meals! I first stopped for breakfast a few weeks ago after an overnight international flight. A hearty breakfast was just what I need and the bacon scramble delivered! The potatoes and homemade sauce were just icing on top. Not to mention the coffee was delicious. We also learned you can take adult beverages to go, so you can stroll O'Hare with a screwdriver in the morning... Tonight I stopped in for dinner. I opted for the smoked Turkey sandwich- such great flavor combos my only complaint was it was a little too saucy! The arugula really freshened it up. The fries were just above average nothing to write home about but did the trick. I requested the house made aioli to dip (they don't have ranch!) When flying out of O'Hare airport (which is frequent), the Publican Tavern is my go to breakfast spot for morning flights. The spotlight is the breakfast potatoes, the are fried nice a crispy just the way I like and are tossed in a delicious sauce that makes them good all on their own without needing salt and pepper like most breakfast potatoes. I'm not sure what the sauce is that they use, but these potatoes make my morning every time. The coffee is really good as well, you can skip Starbucks and have your coffee here for sure. The Pelican Benedict is another favorite. I love the prosciutto and arugula combo with the poached egg and red wine hollandaise. If you are a Benedict lover, give this a try. Side note: For breakfast, this is my top choice at O'Hare, but I do want to mention that I've had some bites from the non-breakfast selection and I wasn't too impressed with the food. read more

Needed a bite before boarding another flight. It was a later hour and felt fortunate that Publican Tavern was still open to grab dinner before my flight. Ordered a glass of Pinot Noir to start. Was hoping to grab a Chicago hot dog, but the closest on their menu is the pqm smoked sausage. A good quality smoked sauaged served with raclette cheese, dijonnaise & apple-cabbage slaw on a bun. The sausage was good, but the bun was overcooked and seemed to have sat under a heat lamp. So it was better to just cut the sausage into pieces. Fries were crispy. My server was great about checking on me and brining me another glass of wine before my flight. Got a bite before my flight, so a-ok. read more
