This restaurant/bar is a nice change from other venues I've been to lately. I found it to be clean and the staff were very cordial and service was good. I ordered the hot Turkey sandwich which was very good and reasonably priced. It consisted of the basic French fries, sliced Turkey on bread with gravy and cranberry sauce. My lunch friend JR enjoyed a hot meatball sandwich. It was huge! Somehow he managed to eat the sub and said the meatballs were delicious. Definitely want to try other items on the menu. read more

When the "waitress" asked if we wanted our leftover pizza boxed, we had 4 slices left of 2 eight cuts, she returned to the table with 4 slices stuffed in a clear plastic box. When I asked if she wouldn't mind putting the pizza in a cardboard, I could not believe the look she gave me. She was so disguised that I asked for a different box. She came back to the table with 4 slices in a box and an empty box for the other 4 slices and just dropped them both in the table without a word and walked away. We were polite and friendly and not demanding at all. I am shocked to have been treated this way. Not sure what the servers issue was, but would suggest a better attitude and less looks of disgust towards your diners. While seated outdoors on the patio I was attacked by a swarm of bees. I was stung multiple times while attempting to bat away the onslaught of attackers. Seems like there was a nest housed somewhere in the decking. A waitstaff came to my assistance by asking me if I want to be seated inside. As I was still waiting for my entree ( kitchen had been slow due to early dinner rush) I opted to take it to-go. No one, including waitstaff, hostess, management seemed to be concerned that there was a bee problem outside and that had I been allergic to bee stings the outcome could've been far worse. I finally decided to try The Publik House after hearing great things for quite a while. Tired of the same old thing, I am always looking for a different taste but its quite a haul from my apt so I always put it off. It was a Friday night so they were quite busy when we arrived. But there was only a minor wait so I helped myself to a bowl of popcorn over by the bar. It totally reminded me of going to Ground Round as a child. For dinner I ordered an appetizer of hot wings extra crispy and an 8 cut pizza. When I got the wings I realized I should have just ordered them normal, because they were actually a little too crispy. Not really their fault but I am used to most places not frying the wings long enough so I've gotten in the habit of ordering them well done. They were still very good and were more of a southern fried wing than buffalo. The sauce was a little light so I would ask for extra sauce next time too. The pizza was above average and nice and crispy on the bottom. It was big enough to feed me for about 3-4 meals. read more

Their wait times are a bit on the long side, but it's worth it. Just order some of the tasty, reasonably priced apps to munch on (or binge on their free popcorn) while you're waiting for the pie! While they're known for their pizza, they have a good selection of sandwiches, pasta, soups and salads as well (though I was surprised not to see a burger platter on the menu.) Our server was very attentive and took good care of our party of five. The restaurant isn't that big and they don't take reservations, so you might have to wait for a table if you come at a busy time. With a sizeable bar and most of the "pub food" you'd expect, the Publik House is well named! read more

They are mostly known for their pizza here. I'll agree that they serve a good pizza, we had a White BBQ Chicken pizza with chopped tomatoes, mozzarella and chicken in a slightly spicy and slightly sweet BBQ sauce. The crust is of medium thickness and all of it is even good as a leftover the next day. We had the leftover pizza because we had eaten all of the Nachos with the works (tomatoes, onions, hot peppers), cheese, and chili. We've had better nachos elsewhere, but these were still good. I've also had the Lawmaker sandwich here - grilled pastrami, provolone and roasted red peppers. While the sandwich is quite good, I want to rave about the Sweet Potato Fries. They were not like any others I've ever had elsewhere. These may have been hand cut in their kitchen because they were the size of steak fries. They were perfectly cooked, not greasy, crispy on the outside and lots of soft potato on the inside. I almost ordered them as a side when we got the pizza. One of our friends who was with us had the Lasagna and gave it two thumbs up. Their online menu does not seem to be up-to-date since it didn't list our pizza or the lasagna. We got takeout from here and it was delicious. I got the hot turkey sandwich and my boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich, the fries are so yummy. It was a decent portion so I actually was able to bring half for my lunch to work the next day and it reheated very well. I've been going to the Ripe Tomato for years and just never noticed this little gem sitting right across the street. We tried it this last week and I was super impressed. Very similar set up and menu to other Family Style / Tavern restaurants in the area. However, the food was better, the wait staff was amazing and even the pricing and specials were impressive. I didn't try it for dinner yet, but for lunch this was perfect. Great sandwiches, hot soup, great price, good atmosphere and attentive staff. This is a perfect recipe for a 4 star rating. Only real concern was that they had Lobster Bisque on the menu for specials and I was willing to give it a chance and at 12PM, it wasn't ready. I will definitely go back and probably before visiting the Ripe Tomato again. PS - A colleague had the pizza and was super impressed as well. read more

Swung by on a whim. Hadn't really heard anything about Publik House except that they had pizza. The place itself has a charming tavern look to it and the staff is friendly enough. I tried the spinach and artichoke dip. It was quite bland and the chips were definitely the absolute cheapest that could be bought. Very thin and crumbly. While the pizza menu had some interesting combinations on it, the pizza was rather gross. The toppings were fine, very much a 3/5 experience, but the crust was absolutely disgusting. It was like 3 pieces of cardboard glued together and toasted. Definitely the worst pizza I've had in the area, and I've had Inferno's. read more

It had been a long, long time, but tonight I finally decided to go back to the Publik House and give them a second shot. The first time I went here, I really didn't have a good experience. Neither the service nor the food were particularly good. That must have been a fluke. Tonight's visit was pretty much consistent with what other people have said about the place. Being that the pizza at the Publik House is their big thing, I tried that with an appetizer. I would have like to have tried the wings too, but that'll have to be for another time. This place was insanely busy tonight. Of course, it's a Friday -- and a holiday, no less -- so that makes sense. I got here around 7:30 and felt like a VIP. There was a 30 minute wait for a table and the bar was completely packed. When I told them that it was just me, they set me up at a little table immediately. Winning. After I got seated, it took them a while to get a waitress to me. I probably waited about 10-15 minutes, but to be honest I really didn't care because they were beyond busy despite being pretty well-staffed. I have to say I was really pleased with this visit and I'm glad it was not the same as my last one. I'll definitely be coming back here again. read more

The place was fairly quiet, which is probably due to the fact that Ripe Tomato next door offers a mega brunch every Sunday. SERVICE: We didn't get our server's name, but she was okay. She was a bit lackadaisical on getting us drink refills, which I could understand if the place was packed, but we were the only patrons there for the first half hour. FOOD: Also okay. We each had sandwiches. My gf got a reuben while I got a prime rib sandwich with au jus (French dip). My gf said her reuben was all right and that she enjoyed the sweet potatoe fries. My French dip was about 1/3 fat, and for $11.99 I felt that was kind of a letdown. VALUE: This place tends to drift toward the pricier side compared to other local restaurants. It's not a complete ripoff, but you can definitely find a better bang for the buck without looking hard. TL;DR: The Publik House is just another American restaurant with prices that might make you believe you were in Saratoga Springs. read more

Always great customer service, and delicious food. We enjoy the many selections on their menu. Their salmon is really good. We like their lobster bisque and onion soups, as well as their sweet potato fries.The wait staff is always courteous and professional. We like and use their lunch cards for frequent patrons who dine at lunch time and dine for dinner there as well. I guess you can say we are regulars. We really enjoy coming here, and even their restroom is clean and inviting with warm water, soap, and paper towels. Publik House is a real winner! read more

My husband and I went here for pizza with one of my husband's brothers. We liked it so we wanted to go there after the track. One of our party got to the place before us. They could not give him a table until we all arrived. We totally understood that. When we arrived, we were told that it would be about 15 minutes before we got a table. That was cool. A bit later a group of 4 to 6 people arrived for a table. A little while later a family checked out. I expected that we would get their table. Imagine my surprise that the family, who came after us, were sitting at the table. The table as in the corner of the bar. If that table was not part of the bar, then I wish that someone told us that we could sit there. Later, another family arrives to eat. Apparently the women called the place to make a reservation. She believed that she had a reservation, though she was told that the restaurant does not take reservations. They explained that to her. A bit later, a table became available. That family was given that table. I will mention that the family had a family member who had special needs. If the restaurant staff had talked to us about giving the table to them, then perhaps we would have agreed for them to get the table. But, they didn't do that. We were ignored and once again we had no table. At least 30 mins had gone by for our 15 min wait. AND 2 tables become free but we were not seated at any of them. The thing is, we saw people eating pizza at the bar, and it looked good. We will never go to this restaurant again. I would rather spend my money at a place that cares and respects, all their customers. Whether they are regular customers or new customers. Keep your system (or lack of a system) so that your regular customers get the tables. And make sure you treat new customers with no respect. After what you did to us, you have perfected that skill. read more

We used to come here when we lived nearby and stopped last night while driving home. It was better than we remembered! The 8 cut pizza was really good. Something about the sauce that is just right and it had real (as my son called them) fresh mushrooms on top. We split an antipasti - this was a little funny to eat as the cheese and meats were the size of deli slices so it was awkward to distribute among ourselves but the dressing on the side was great. We also had a small order of wings, just enough heat to make everyone happy without being torturous to even the youngest in our group. A great meal and value, including tax, tip, and four sodas for under $50! read more
