Stopped at the Public House today for lunch. Our waitress was Very loud and obnoxios and in our "space". She did not follow social distancing at all. We noticed her mask slipping and her playing with it constantly. We ordered our drinks and food. While she was bartending, she kept her mask down below her chin, occaisionally lifting it up. She kept it off while waiting on the patrons at the bar. A "cook" from the back came out and she immediately poured him a shot. He also had no mask on. He tossed it back and headed back to the kitchen. Besides the bartender/waitress not wearing her mask properly, no one was wiping down tables or the bar after patrons left. This is our go-to pizza place. Normally always have a great meal, with the exception of a few off nights. What tanks the score is the wait times. I've learned my lesson from past experiences so I normally tack on at least 20 minutes to whatever time I'm quoted on the phone. Even then I end up waiting for 10, 15, 20 minutes longer inside. My husband is in Publik House waiting for our order as I type this. It's been an hour and 10 minutes since I ordered. I was quoted 25 minutes. Last week the pizza was brought out almost immediately but I had the pleasure of waiting 20+ minutes longer for my wings. Foods great but PLEASE address these awful wait times. A less loyal customer would definitely take their business elsewhere. read more

Easily my favorite pizza hands down. My boyfriend and i go at least once a week; we keep it simple, cheese pizza with 5 wings to start. We have yet to ever say "eh this isnt as good as last time" or "its just okay." Easily our favorite place for pizza. We havent tried any other menu options, but my boyfriend loves the nachos. (He went on a different occasion). But the pizza hands down is amazing, the crust the cheese everything. We always order bleu cheese for dipping to. We just love it everytime we go. I've been here in the past for the pizza which is very good. This time we got pasta. It was by far the worst pasta, sauce and meatballs we ever had. They would have been better off serving frozen meatballs and Ragu. If you ever come here do not order the pasta. The staff was friendly. read more

I have never stepped inside this restaurant, but a few weekends ago my husband and I ordered 2 pizzas to go for our nieces and nephew. I was surprised at how delicious the pizza was. I've heard good things from this place, but honestly it's my new pizza place. Big thick crust, right amount of toppings and cheese, and the sauce was really good. I've been going to Publik House for years. We go quite often and we are always greeted by a friendly server. Erica (among a few other waitresses) welcome us with a bright smile. She remembers what I drink and know what quirky things I like about my meals. There is a bar area that is often full but we've never experienced an inappropriate noise level or over-the-top behavior. I love the pizza and the antipasto! We will keep coming back. 4 stars because sometimes they run out of our favorites. read more

Someone walk me through this - cause I just don't get it. Far as I'm concerned the Publik House is just ok, but a lot of folks disagree because when is the joint not jumpin??? Don't get me wrong, it's a solid 3-star middle-of-the-pack straightforward place. Regardless of number of stars, the other reviewers are mostly right. Yes service can fall apart during a rush, and yes most of the time it's personable and light. The bar is indeed a hot local scene - thought that "inbred" comment went a little too far, but if you're jonesIng to get your skank* on, this ain't a bad place to do it. As others have noted, it's deep dish pizza here. Is it the old-school Nirvana you can get in Chicago? No. If Neapolitan is your thing, be forewarned, and find your bliss elsewhere. I'm a thin-crust man myself, but my family and I tear through multiple iterations of the Publik House pizza every summer, because it's close, usually hot, not bad for deep-dish, and let's face it - pizza is kind of like you-know-what: even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. Final data-point. Saw the head man at Stewart's on the lake before 7 am on a Sunday. He grabbed a cup of joe and was off while I pumped my massive American chariot full of regular on the way to walking the dogs. Taking a right onto route 9 eight minutes (and $75) later, whose fancy wheels do I see parked outside the back door at Publik House? You got it, the self-same hardworking man. Now maybe at 7 am on a Sunday he's just going in to holler at the help, but you gotta admire the dedication, and whatever his secret is to keeping the place full, it looks like he earns it. * Exercise some caution, as most of these gals arrive on the back of a Harley driven by a gent who looks like he got dressed with the sole intent of kicking your backside into Washington county. read more

Love their pizza. Good flavors. Crust is normally decent. Sauce is pleasant. We normally get apps first, fried things, and they always come fast and hot. The husband didn't care much for his sandwich...open faced turkey with stuffing, I think, but his complaint was more that it was bland than bad. House wine is decent. They are great at keeping sodas full and taking plates/finished drinks off the table. Overall, one of my faves. read more

Publik House is an underwhelming greasy spoon, plain and simple. Been here 3 times now, and haven't been blown away. The pizza is too thick and lacks flavor. Cheap sausage, no seasoning. I would never go back. We arrived Sunday 7/10 at approximately 10:30 pm. We hadn't been there in a while and decided at that hour we could still grab a beer and food. We sat at the end of the bar near the Quick Draw machine with window access to the kitchen. The bartender walks through the door, loudly announcing to the cook that she is "so sorry" but she has another food order....ok get it, it's late, but then while I happened to look up after we heard her speak I saw her pull out a cigarette and light it in the kitchen in my view. Last I checked that is not allowed and really grossed me out. If that rule is broken and in the kitchen, what else? Next, she brings out the nachos...loaded with the cheese whiz, but some people prefer that, next we ask for more napkins she brings ketchup, we asked again, and received. She brought me a second beer, it over flowed so the bottom of glass was wet and no coaster she twice went to walk a way and it almost slid off the bar...third time she thought best to have my wallet and phone block the beer....wet beer....then remembered about coasters and then back to her conversation with another employee sitting at the bar. I don't look for perfection but if the bartender thinks its ok to smoke in the kitchen, even light up in the kitchen and the cook says nothing...and she does it as if its common practice there, then I have a problem with that. All I kept thinking was what else unsanitary happens in the kitchen or elsewhere in the restaurant. As for her skills, they too were lacking. read more

A group of friends and myself have been coming to The Publik House every Monday for a couple years now. Our two favorite servers are Erica and Dina. They are very kind and always are happy to see us. We are always happy to see them too! They both are very professional and it is obvious they both have the knowledge and skill that it takes to work in the service industry. We love the relationship we have developed over the years with these wonderful people. The food is always good and the atmosphere the staff creates is joyous!! read more

Went there last week. Chicken parm, lasagna and pizza. All were delicious. Good size portions and great service. Try this one.

Put in a take-out order for pizza and antipasto. Delish. Thick, bready crust. Lots of cheese. The crust is the kind that creates huge air pockets around the edges. The sauce was properly savory. Not sweet at all. Antipasto had romaine lettuce, marinated artichoke hearts, black olives, pepperoncini peppers, onions and tomatoes. The hot ham, salami, provalone cheese was deli sliced instead of cubed, which was good, but not so great to split among a crowd. We'll order take-out again. Still sits at 5 stars with me. We went for dinner the other night and I had every intention to try one of their dinners. BUT then I saw a pizza come out...damn it! I could not resist, we ordered a 8 cut meatball pizza. I never, ever order pizza with a toppings on them because I don't want to ruin the integrity of the pizza, tasting all the toppings and messing all the pizza up with extra grease. The meatball pizza was great, next time though I will be going back to ordering just a cheese pizza. I feel like I am Kevin Mc Caster from Home Alone when it comes to Cheese Pizza...HAHA. Another thing I have to mention is the wait staff the night we went were good but way too over the top. Basically running back and forth from the dinning room to the kitchen, I know the more they hustle the more money they make but slow down for a minute and catch your breath! You know what? I am not mad at Publik House. I sometimes stay in the apartments behind the place, so it's convenient for me to visit. The pizza is consistently better than chain pizza, and the wings are decent as well. As far as bar food in this area goes, Publik House ranks relatively high, and service is usually on point. Now, I have been cut off by the bartender before.. and I am not sure why. I wasn't drunk. I was not being loud. Not disrespectful to anyone.. I ordered a beer and the lady gave me water then said, "no more beer for you".. or maybe it was whiskey? I was a little offended but whatever. Maybe she needed to feel powerful that night or something? Possibly shark week? Clairvoyance? Would I have kept drinking till my pants were off in public again? Maybe she saved me a trip to jail. "Why don't we come here more?" I said to my husband mid-meal. Seriously, it had been over a year since we were last there...and probably said the same thing the last time. On a recent Saturday lunch, Hubby, myself & 9yo son, we were delighted. We started with the garlic bread w/mozzerella. Yum! Perfect combination of crispy, melty and flavorful. The boys shared a pizza that they loved, half pepperoni & bacon, half cheese. Lots of toppings on the topped side. I had a grilled chicken sandwich on a roll. Tasty, but was kind of taken back by the absence of lettuce and tomato. Bread was crusty and yummo. The waitress was nice...but seemed to have too many tables...the hostess helped her out, but there was a bit of frazzle to some of the service. That can be a call-in situation and not a management situation per se, so I won't ramble on this. Overall, food was great and we'll be back. read more

We go to the public house all the time and you can't beat their steamed clams for only $6.99 before six o'clock. They have a great selection of sandwiches also. We have found the service very friendly and efficient. The place itself is clean and inviting. They can be a bit pricey on some items but all in all it's a great casual dining place to go. read more

Arrived with 7 family and friends for a casual setting and good pizza and mission accomplished. We had their white/broccoli, meat lovers and buffalo chicken. All were enjoyed. Great food with a great atmosphere and family friendly. The staff is always accommodating. Some people need to realize what is involved in closing a kitchen like the clean up and prep for the following day's business, especially in a clean, we'll run establishment. If you've been in the business you should know you can't re-open a kitchen for one individual as you would have to do it for others and it would start happening more frequently, and in that case, why have a kitchen closing time?
