I really enjoy shopping at this Publix location. While this location is slightly smaller than other stores, it makes the layout incredibly easy to navigate. George Jenkins the founder opened the first stand-alone grocery store in Winter Haven, Florida, on September 6, 1930. He adopted the name "Publix" from a struggling New York-based movie theater company (with 19 opulently decorated movie houses in Florida) called Publix Theatres Corporation. Staffs are friendly and helpful and appear to be eager to be there. Also a large Greenwise selection, quality meats and bakery. Personally I love the service at Publix. They are true BOGOs where they don't jack the price up and then offer the BOGO, like some other grocery stores do. "Publix, where shopping is a pleasure", has been their motto forever, and for the most part it is true. The bigger the store, the larger the assortment of products. The small stores have only the top selling brands. I love their BOGO's, when I can't find something and ask a sales person, they will take me to the item or find out if they carry the product. One of the cleanest and most well maintained Publix in the area! I like the accessibility of this store and the mix of available businesses surrounding it in this strip mall. You can grab lunch at a pizza joint or Mexican restaurant then get your shopping done. Even get a hair cut and your nails did, too! I've personally experienced numerous items available here due to requesting them. Publix really means it: if we don't have it, ask and we'll do our best to provide it. If you like organic or the Greenwise brand, this store is well stocked, even more so than their sister store further down 301. If you pay attention, some of these items get marked less than their traditional counterparts from time to time. Stock up on organic butter when THAT happens! Fantastic pharmacy here as well. Last time I checked, they provide certain prescriptions, like antibiotics, free of charge. Check out their policy and save money by having your prescriptions filled here. read more

I have no choice in where to shop. I live in northern Manatee county and the closest store is 15 minute drive for me (Publix #1152). There are 3 Publix within a 20 minute drive and I have no other options. Soon a new Publix will open 5 minutes away at "Gateway Crossings" at Moccasin Wallow and I-75. The items that are on sale are always not stocked. If you can find an employee they will check stock but that takes time. They always ask at checkout "Did you find everything you were looking for?" and I just chuckle. The pharmacy here rates 5 stars. They are friendly and helpful. When they give you a time estimate you can count on it. The pharmacist are really nice along with all the technicians. The meat department leaves a lot to be desired. The cuts are not the best and prices are high. It's really hard to find a good steak! I hate this is my only option! They say "where shopping is a pleasure" but I disagree! We need some competition around here with grocery stores! read more

The deli manager is super rude. Every time you ask for something we either don't have it can't make it or it's going to be 20 to 30 minutes. And it's simple things like a salad that doesn't have salmon in it. Or breaded chicken. The workers also talk a lot of trash about her and they are scared of her. One person told me if they get caught talking about her they will get fired for something they didn't do or fake complaint that never happened. Management really needs to get rid of her. read more

It's the closest store to our house. It's ridiculously overpriced. We only shop here when we need one or two items. We will drive to Aldi's and save ourselves $200-$300 for a full cart. read more

This Publix is a really great store. The employees here are amazing and they are always smiling. I have even watched them helping people to their cars with a smile in the rain! You can ask any employee any question about any product, and they know exactly where everything or can help with your problems. The store itself is always very clean and well organized. The produce is very fresh and rotated very frequently. The store is always very clean and dirt and dust free. There is another Publix right up the street from this one (1 mile away) and that one is always so busy, you can barely even park your car. This Publix is a little smaller, but has a much more neighborhood feel. I see my neighbors and friends every time I go. I love my neighborhood Publix. read more

I asked if they made poppyseed bagels in the bakery and she said they don't normally have them on display because not enough people buy them, but then offered to make a dozen for me while I shopped?!?! The store is clean and organized, and the stock personnel are very nice and helpful. Most of the cashiers are friendly and run the registers well. The baggers, however, leave a lot to be desired! Most have no clue how to bag!!!!!!!!! Even if you sort your groceries for them, such as all produce together and all frozen foods together, they STILL put cans of food in with your lettuce!!! And on the rare occasion they don't do this, they pile other heavy bags of groceries on top of the salad bags in the cart anyway. Ugh! The service desk has to be one of the most unfriendly, sour-pussed bunch I've ever met! I have yet to get one that actually knows what customer service means! Instead of yacking with each other while customers are patiently waiting, they should try servicing the customer who is obviously standing there in need of their assistance!!!! As for the stock in the store, it's absolutely deplorable. It doesn't matter what time I shop, it's a RARE day they have everything on my list. If I hear "It'll be here tomorrow" one more time, I'm gonna scream. It's NEVER there "tomorrow" and a complete waste of my time!!!! Publix must coach their employees to use this as their pat answer. And they keep changing products they carry too! I am now on my 53rd product they have changed. Yes, 53rd!!! Not unusual items either. Items they carried and suddenly stopped...diet Pepsi lemon, beef maggi cubes, home run inn fireball pizza, berry allouette cheese spread, Jenny o turkey roast, etc. NOT ONE special order has EVER worked either. This store is a joke. I only use them for quick stops now. It's well worth the drive to go elsewhere as it actually saves me time...and certainly aggravation! read more
