I lost my phone and last remembered having it at Publix. I stopped back the next day to inquire and was able to tell the time I was there and even when I last remembered looking at it. One of the managers, Samantha, checked the safe and then took the time to watch the camera footage as I made my progress around the store but couldn't see any instance of my setting it down or leaving it at the register. Then she helped me know how to possibly get help through my computer. She was so kind, caring, and helpful and I was so grateful to her. That's why Publix is still the best and II'll always be loyal to them. Once my husband with dementia wandered away from home and ended up at the store and they were so kind dealing with him and contacting me and someone stayed with him until I arrived. My "lost" phone was down in the cushion of my chair at home. I'm sorry I wasted Samantha's time, but she demonstrated the superior kind of customer care I wish every business would emulate. I went in with my husband looking for a sweet treat. I went to the bakery and they didn't have what I was looking for. The lovely and kind lady working in the bakery - Brittany - was so sweet to offer to make it for me on the spot. This was within 15 minutes before the store closed. Publix is the best supermarket in the Southeast. Period. No others come close. However, this location seems to have a lot of items never in stocked. Publix does so many things right with customer service and has plenty of staff around to help if needed. However, if you are getting a sub at this location and you haven't ordered on line, be prepared to stand in line a while.. I would say an average wait for a sub is at least 10-15 minutes. read more

When you get a sub at Publix, at the Deli section, it is usually a very nice experience! You can either order it online, or you can go in and get it done, while you wait! But their sub sandwiches are usually beyond excellent! The bread is, of course, baked fresh there, just like Subway, but this bread holds up to a sandwich, doesn't fall apart and is delicious through and through, and that's just the bread..they now have hot sandwiches too...but on cold sandwiches, you have your choice of bread, which is four grain, white and whole wheat, wrap of various kinds or a bowl, or sandwich without bread or wrap at all! You can choose from Publix Brand cold cuts, which are fine...or from Boars Head Brand, which most New York people would know more about, and has become more popular here now too! Whichever you pick, it's great either way, they will put all the fixings on, and the amount that you want, and condiments too! They cut each half, into half(quarters) and they wrap each half, which I ask for anytime I get a sub sandwich...because I can't eat a whole one, at one sitting! Last time, that I was there, I had the most wonderful young lady, she knew how to make a sandwich, and make it the way I liked it, even before I said it! The employees are clean, well kept, and practice all of the proper sanitary food practices...The sandwich area sometimes gets messy, but it is never dirty...it is cleaned up after each sandwich is done..the fixings are always fresh, and sometimes they have to grab a bit more, from the fridge in the back of the sandwich area, and refill it...it is definitely worth the few minutes extra wait, plus everything is cut, nice and this too! Lettuce is shaved on the slicer...tomatoes are cut neatly, etc...Their chicken tender or other chicken subs are the best in the area, lots of meat too! I will go back over and over again! The more I stop in here the more I like it I think that's true of any place once you get comfortable with the layout. The staff is always very friendly and willing to help you find something and they even are willing to go as far as checking the inventory in the back if the item you need is out of stock. If I had to say anything negative it would be about the parking lot it always seems crowded and the spaces seem to be a little closer together than most places, this mean I park out on the perimeter to prevent from getting my doors dented. There also a large number of the elderly and these tight parking spaces make it very difficult to pull in or out so you might want to park further out and talk a walk. read more

"THE INCONVENIENT AND RUDE PUBLIX" If you have 50-100 lotto/scratch off tickets to check, this is the place for you! All other customers do not matter and the employees will even tell you so. After shopping at Publix almost every day and spending $30+ each time (not including 2 scratch off lottery tickets almost daily and maybe a FL Lottery, Powerball or Megamillions), I was told point blank how much they don't care about my business. I almost always come in first thing when they open, before work to avoid crowds and save time as I am often in a time crunch. Numerous times per week I end up behind the same guy who has literally 50-100 lotto tickets for the clerk to run through the machine for him and then purchases another, who knows how many, he buys from a wide variety of games. This process on a good day is 20 - 30 minutes long (one customer!). I have suggested to management, etc more than once to come up with a policy so others don't suffer while they cater to this one customer. Each time I was told it is like someone with 3 grocery carts, they won't ask him to go to the back of the line because it is crowded...well guess what? In that situation they rush to open up another cashier line (thereby catering equally to the other customers) so it is not the same as waiting to cash a scratch off at the counter where they have only one machine! I think they open up other cashiers in the grocery section...why?, because they don't want people having to wait and give up. Last time I went to the lotto counter there were literally 3-4 people behind him who gave up - walking away muttering that it's just not worth it! But that is ok with Publix corporate because not all customers are equal. Last time I suggested to the clerk for the second time that they should have a policy of something like "maximum 10 or 20 tickets if people are in line behind you. The Smurf with the purple hair running the counter (I kid you not), he told me that "he spends more in one day than you do in a week". (again I am in there nearly daily or even twice per day some days) He literally told me that point blank. So basically, all of us other customers are not as important as this one man with his 50-100 tickets. On top of that the counter clerk is by himself and gets interrupted by phone calls he has to take or talk to another store clerk who comes up to speak with him. Then when I made the same suggestion to the home office of Publix, the response tells me to instead use the lotto machine or the liquor store that doesn't open until afternoon. This store has now become too inconvenient and I am sure that Wal-Mart and Aldi's will serve my needs just as well. I just purchased a beautiful turkey much cheaper than Publix. Publix is now the rude and inconvenient place to go! Avoid!!! read more

The fruit and vegetables are always fresh. The team members in the produce department are helpful. In the meat department they are friendly and willing to cut to order. Lots of variety. Store is always very clean. Cashiers are friendly and efficient. Managers are always Visible and approachable. The cake decorating is outstanding! read more

This Publix location is nothing short of a mad house. Everytime I come here, no matter what time of day it is, I feel like I have to throw elbows to get down the aisles and find what I need. Also, don't come without a list because if you stop to contemplate purchasing something on sale, someone will come up behind you and shove a cart in your butt to get you moving again. Not a very pleasant shopping experience here. On the upside, I never wait very long in line to check out. Staff seems to be plentiful, helpful, and nice. This is a great Publix. The parking lot is crazy but since I usually bring my truck when I am out in Deland it does not matter. There are places to sit and have lunch if you wish inside by the deli. The Deli is big with plenty of staff. The rest of the store is big and well stocked. You will never wait very long in line to check out. Staff seems to be plentiful, helpful, and nice every time I have visited. Usually I am restocking one of my kids fridges when visiting them at Stetson. read more

Love that this publix has a area separated with tables and chairs inside where you are able to eat! Have been to many publix's and many do not have this awesome feature! After giving this Publix a fair chance, I'm updating my review. The bakery is still not that good, but the deli has become pretty stellar. Kilo and Lucy always do an amazing job. The cashiers are a mixed bag. Some don't know the coupon policies very well, which is irritating considering that my wife and I do and work hard to plan shopping trips accordingly. There are also great cashiers like Sam, Brianna, and Bobbi who know their job well. This Publix also finally started making their purple and green flyers more available, so that's a plus. New Smyrna Publix is still our favorite, but this Publix is slowly improving read more

As far as grocery stores go, they are pretty good. The produce is consistently good quality. The baggers will also take your groceries out to your vehicle and will not accept tips. This is a nice place to shop. On top of all that, they also have a very friendly pharmacist and their prices are reasonable for prescriptions. You can also cash checks here. read more

This Publix always seems to be understocked, especially in the produce section. The produce is also not fresh. I got blackberries from this Publix one time and they were moldy only a day after I purchased them. This Publix, while spacious, is smaller and more dated than the one on S. Woodland Blvd. Publix specializes in overpriced mediocrity and this place is emblematic of this standard. Overall while it is an ok Publix, you are better off going to the nicer one on South Woodland, or if you want to go to an even better Publix, head to the Publix Greenwise in South Tampa. Sure it's a long drive from DeLand, but it's an amazing experience and emblematic of what all Publix stores should be like and they carry a wide variety of high quality groceries. read more

This single star represents forced Generosity as I cannot give any less. The deli at this location is very poorly managed. The people that work at the deli are excellent, as far as people skills go. Organization is a different story, but that is the fault of TERRIBLE leadership. The store manager will not return your calls so don't bother. We have now encountered 2 night managers and both have no business being employed by a company like Publix that prides itself on service. The management at this location is the antithesis of service. PERIOD. The 2 night managers both made it abundantly clear that they could care less, and were outright annoyed that you are seeking their assistance. Let's also not forget the store manager is above returning calls, so you're up the creek if you have an issue. This is not only the worst Publix I have ever been to but one of the worst grocery stores I have been to. Yes it is clean, yes their produce and meats are fresh. But YOU Mr Customer are an annoyance to the leadership team here. It's a shame that Publix can afford to tow this carcass of a store along without reprieve. It should be set free to drift away and sink into distant memory and allow for a decent store to replace it, or Publix's corporate team should give this store the enema it needs! read more

I usually love Publix but this one particularly is always out of stock on the bogo items and their bakery items are never fresh. They serve day old bread and do not put out fresh daily. My family always uses this Publix and I'd love to give it a better review. However the deli really brings it down. I use the online deli order function and 8/10 times my order is never ready. And they always have some type of excuse or reason they don't have it ready. This is very frustrating because the whole reason to do it online is to miss the madhouse in front of the deli. Also, they are out of the rotisserie chickens. I don't know how they don't plan accordingly. Other than that the store does a good job. Fix the deli service and I'll change my review. read more

Lunchtime at a reputable Publix is always a good choice. I skipped out on a Boar's Head sandwich this go round because the bread was sitting on a rack uncovered. Other the other hand the sushi looked presentable and neat. My sushi roll with wasabi and ginger was fresh and delicious. This is a standard Publix, not as clean or friendly as other ones I have been to but by no means dirty or sub-par.
