After what happened this past Christmas, that trust is completely gone -- and we will never be back. Kiko does have anxiety and can be high-energy, and we've always been upfront about that. Any professional groomer has the option to decline service if a dog is too stressed or difficult on a particular day. Instead, Monica chose to keep him for nearly eight hours -- from late morning to early evening -- while sending multiple messages complaining about his behavior rather than communicating solutions or asking us to pick him up sooner. When I arrived, the scene was alarming. Kiko was in the sink, restrained tightly by the neck next to a running vacuum in a loud, chaotic environment. Monica appeared overwhelmed and irritated, telling me she had other things to do and that I would need to handle him myself. When I checked his collar, it was so tight I couldn't fit two fingers between it and his neck. He was wheezing. I had to loosen it myself and move him just so he could breathe more comfortably. Instead of resuming service professionally, I was handed a brush and told to finish grooming him because he was "no longer her problem." After insisting that the haircut at least be completed, she rushed through it carelessly with scissors and then used a razor on his rear area while he was visibly distressed and trying to get away. Despite the incomplete, unprofessional service, we were still charged $130. Once we got home, Kiko immediately ran to his water bowl and drank excessively, as if he had been dehydrated for hours. Then we noticed something far worse -- his testicles were swollen, raw, and bleeding. He had left that morning perfectly healthy and came back injured. We rushed him to the emergency vet that same night. He required antibiotics, treatment, and follow-up care. The healing process lasted weeks and caused him clear pain and discomfort. No pet owner should ever have to see their dog go through that after a routine grooming visit. When we contacted Monica the next day to explain what happened and request accountability, she became defensive, raised her voice, and refused any refund or help with the medical costs. When legal action was mentioned, she dismissed it and claimed she had video footage -- footage that was never provided. This experience was heartbreaking and infuriating. Cleanliness, patience, and compassion are the bare minimum in animal care. If a dog is too stressed to groom safely, the ethical choice is to stop -- not continue out of frustration. Hair cut request was completely dismissed and when mentioned botched job to groomer, they just shrugged it off and said they took it upon themselves to provide the same haircut they give to all of their York is customers. First of all, l've never done a review but this is needs to be shared and known. THIS PLACE IS INFESTED WITH FLEAS AND TICKS!! I had been taking my dog here for almost 10 years and never began to have an issue until about a year ago. A year ago, I took in my now senior dog for a normal grooming and bath in which when returned to me she kept scratching every inch of her body, two days later the scratching became so excessive that when i examined her i discovered she was infested with fleas. I called the owner (Monica) to let her know in which she completely denied it and began telling me that maybe my dog caught it while outside but we never take my dog out anymore due to her old age and she never goes around any dogs either, she is and always has been an only puppy. She told me she would be able to give my dog a flea treatment for an additional fee in which I agreed given that Monica was friendly over the years and I trusted her. My dog came back even more infested. I decided to take her to the vet and gave Monica the benefit of the doubt as she was very persistent that my dog must've caught it "in the backyard" of my own house but yet also tried to lecture me about taking my dog to the vet for the fleas and saying that "vets are scammers and lie to get money." The second time comes around and since my dog is on anti flea medication, she was not able to catch any fleas, however, she was returned to me with dead fleas all over her groomed fur, when confronting the owner calmly, she lashed out at me and accused me of lying even with clear evidence and began going on about her health and trying to change the subject of her giving me back my dog with fleas. To avoid issues i began to do my dogs grooming myself at home however I had to take her back about two weeks ago due to me traveling for work and my dog came back yet again infested with fleas and ticks, I didn't even want to fight with Monica anymore as she has become so rude and clearly cannot take any criticism. It also is not worth fighting with her even though I've several times had proof. My dog never leaves the house and only ever explores my backyard given that she is also 17 years old. I write this review to warn all pet owners of this place. It is not clean, very sketch at times, the owner cannot take any criticism even to better her work/business, and clearly infested with fleas. So sad to see how downhill its turned as this place and Monica use to be very great, it's hard to find good caring groomers. She did not take responsibility or try fix the flea problem ensuing at her business. Oh also not to mention that since the first time I asked about the fleas she proceeded to charge completely ridiculous amounts. You can tell how much they love her as well. Do not take your dog here! Absolutely treated my dog awful! My almost 15yr old boxer has an unremovable tumor underneath his belly and they did not allow us inside and clipped his nails outside of the front door and charged us an extra five dollars just because he has a tumor!
