I loved my first visit to Pudthai and Sushi. Firstly, it seemed to be family operated which I like. We chose this restaurant because they have lots of sushi AND Thai options, this is rare in rochester. The spicy tuna roll was good, I'm definitely going to get a specialty roll next time. We loved the Bangkok chicken. The breading was crispy even with the sauce which is unique for Bangkok chicken, and it elevated the dish. The pad Thai portion was super generous and tasty. We were out the door with a sushi roll and 2 entrees plus leftovers for $41 pre tip! I also love how they have a bento combo option with a sushi roll, ginger salad, Thai entree (small portion) and white rice for $16.95. That is a steal, especially for Thai food in Rochester. I will definitely be getting the combo next time. The waitress was really nice at explaining the spice levels and brought us 3 extra spice options for the side. She always made sure our waters were full. It wasn't busy during the week for dinner, they definitely deserve more customers. read more

The food is good and service friendly. We arrived just before it got busy and got a table in this very small establishment. The spice level is good and is a bit hotter than other Thai restaurants. We were told this when ordering. We did have to wait to put our food order in because she was so busy but it was understandable. Our server worked very hard and made sure we didn't run out of water. First time at the restaurant, and it was a good experience. Few seating indoors, but I'm glad I came at a slow hour. Summer rolls seem to come with the Vietnamese nuoc cham sauce, but per request, they provided me with also the peanut sauce that I usually like with my summer rolls. Peanut sauce was a bit tangier than what I'm used to but no complaints. Summer rolls themselves did feel a bit unfulfilling? minimal noodles and chicken inside with lots of lettuce/cabbage, so it lacked substance in a way. They are not open for dine-in yet as of April 5th. Only carry out. Open for dine-in as of October 23rd and until 8:30pm tonight. All of the food comes out in to go containers. You order at the counter. We ordered a Thai iced tea, no mango bubble tea (made with powder, 2 Philadelphia tempura roll with crab salad, Royal crispy roll, crab Rangoon, papaya salad, medium + spicy, 2 ginger salad and a curry noodle with steamed tofu, Thai hot. We paid after our meal. The Thai iced tea is ok, not for my thing. I really hope they clean the orange lunch trays they use to put their sushi rolls on as well as the noodles from the fridge as it's being transferred to the wok pan in the back kitchen. :O The crab Rangoon are super breaded and heavy and the duck sauce is quite odd. The crispy chicken roll is quite yummy, so crispy and nicely packed with chicken. The dipping sauce is light and goes perfectly well with it as well. No ginger salads, no worries, no need for them after all of the food on the table. The woman taking my order never ended up writing down my ginger salads at all on the bill. Oh well. The papaya salad isn't too bad. Slightly crunchy papaya shreds, it's spicy, has some good kick to the spice level for sure. The heat lingers after the last bite. The Philadelphia tempura roll with the crab salad is good. We only got one of our two orders ordered. Not sure why we received a random container of rice, the curry dish comes with noodles. The rice went to waste. The curry noodle was decent, but not yummy or impressive. The noodles are super thick and wide. The bill is $51.36. I would recommend the papaya salad, crispy chicken roll and the Philadelphia tempura roll with the crab salad sub. Service is quick and easy. The staff are hustling the whole time we were here. I have passed by this place many times and was very curious. After seeing is a couple times last month after picking up some dessert down the street I finally gave it a try. It was worth it! I was very impressed with the food and the value. This restaurant is currently carry-out only. The dining area is closed off, and you get your food by the doorway. It was very fast and convenient, and the person waiting on me was polite and efficient. Everything was packaged nicely, and in order. Since I did order a lot, I had three bags with of food, and they did not forget anything, plus included chop sticks and soy sauce. Everything arrived home safely without spills, plus it all tasted nice and fresh. I started with the curry puffs. Very flakey and delicious. I liked the crust, and it heated up nicely the next day and was very crispy. We also tried the mermaid rolls, crab stick and cream cheese spring rolls. A delightful take on crab Rangoon and spring rolls. I am a fan! We ordered four sushi rolls, avocado roll, spicy California roll, tempura California roll, and tempura Philadelphia roll. They were all fresh and delicious. Since this was my first time here, I wanted to try our basic sushi order, but looking at the menu, I would love to branch out and try other rolls. We also had the satay chicken skewers. They were cooked perfectly. The peanut sauce was thick, sweet, and delicious. Not all places have good peanut sauce, this one does. We also ordered dinner entrees. We had the chicken pad Thai, pad se ewe beef, and curry pineapple fried rice. All of it was amazing. Well made, huge portions. We do not like super spicy, so it had the right amount of spice, a mild but comfortable burn. The beef was tender and not chewy. The noodles were tender and not the dishes not at all soupy. My order consisted of Tom yum soup and a C9 with vegetables. The menu says the Tom Yum is for 2, please more like 4. It's not just a huge quantity that made it delicious it was the taste. It had some sour with just a tiny bit of spice. Nice amount of veggies and good tasting chicken. Yep, I slurped up every last drop. At this point I didn't need any more food but I just had to try the c9. I ordered mine with veggies instead of meat and sometimes Thai places with just make it into mush or just not enough veggies to satisfy my inner beast. Not the case here, again a huge quantity enough for 2 and all the veggies just seemed to be done right. Even though I had to suffer and drive this carry out home 15 mins to eat it, they had snap. GOOD HIDDEN GEM! At first my family was put off by the name "Pudthai AND Sushi" which seems to indicate that they can't make up their minds about what to be and choose to half-ass both instead. However, the food sold it. As a frequent Thai-food eater, this place surpassed my expectations. The Green Curry was some of the best I have eaten in a long time. The portion sizes were much larger than anticipated ($15-18 price range and even a single one would be enough or more than enough to feed a starving caveman). Additionally, this place was open on the night of Mother's Day when most other restaurants were closed (we had Mother's Day brunch so don't worry, I'm not a last-minute menace). Since moving to my new place, I haven't had the best luck with getting delivery. Not even in terms of temperature, but things just being off and wrong tasting. So before ordering from Pudthai, I was relieved to see a lot of recent positive reviews having gotten their food as delivery. I ended up getting a curry puff, a spring roll, the tofu tod, and mat-sa-man. With one notable exception, it was all delicious and on point! Finally!! The curry puff was flaky on the outside and soft and spicy on the inside. Spring roll was perfectly crispy and the plum sauce made for a great pairing. The mat-sa-man's potato's were perfectly cooked - not mushy, not too firm, just right - and while I wish I could have figured out the no added spice option on the app I was using (was it "- spice"? it was right above the spiciest option and didn't want to risk it, so I may never know lol), the mild was near the top of my (relatively weak) threshold and they have plenty of options, so if you like it spicy, you're in luck. The one thing I really didn't like was the tofu tod, which made me pretty sad. I don't know if they used silken tofu or what, but the texture was off. I probably would have still eaten them if the sauce was good, but for some reason, the peanut sauce had a weird metallic taste to it. My roommate tried them too, without my opinion, just a "hey, what do you think of these" and they also had similar comments. Still, I'm excited to try other things from their menu, including their sushi, since apparently a place that I thought was a thai food spot may be the only place around here that delivers good sushi to my new place. I recently started developing my love for Thai food so I was excited to stop by for lunch. We came on a Sunday afternoon and dined in. The restaurant wasn't busy but my friend raved this is her favorite Thai restaurant, so I trusted that it's good. I looked through the menu and they had a large selection to choose from. My husband and I ordered the Pud Prik and Pad Thai. They were both delicious and plentiful and the spice level on it was perfect. We did come on a Sunday so they only serve dinner portions versus lunch portions. Our server was very friendly and attentive which was a bonus. We did order carry out here a separate time and I did feel the portion was a little less than when we dined in. In addition, the spice level was a little off from the previous visit but the food was still delicious. Overall, it was a good place to eat especially if you are nearby. I'm in love with the hot and sour soup here, it's amazing. Also love the diverse menu offering, you can get Thai or Chinese. I've had the Pad Thai and Pad See Ewe here and both are good. Portion sizes aren't huge like other Thai restaurants so keep that in mind if you plan on sharing. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired, but it's obviously not stopping me from coming here. There always seems to be a ton of kids here crawling on the furniture. Maybe it's jut during lunch. It's just chaotic and not very relaxing to eat inside.
