The food is always great. I had the chicken soup and it was excellent Almost Like my Mom's soup. I highly recommend it. The service was good considering it was full and there were only a couple people working that night. It is a sit down restaurant, you need to allow time for the cook to cook I love this place. We always dine at El Pueblo viejo every time we attend a show at Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC).

This review is based solely on pick-up service, pupusas, and their service during Covid. I called in an order as soon as they opened and ordered 2-4 of every pupusa (some are not listed on the menu). I was given a 40-45 min wait time as the order was so large and they had just opened. I was advised they would call if the order was done sooner. I left to pickup and they called on my drive, perfectly completed on time, price as told over the phone, payment was easy. Everyone was in gloves and a mask, chairs were up so nobody would even wait for food, signs on the door, pick up orders arranged on a table, etc. Managing following protocol well. Best part? Every single box was labeled with the pupusas (top, middle, bottom) and we were given so much of the cabbage slaw and the salsa that we surely will not run out on our almost 30 pupusas. Everything was cooked well, hot- even when I got home, packaged well (no spilling or anything, bags tied and taped shut, etc.), there was enough inside of each pupusas and not a heavy tortilla which made it even better. I will be back again.

Tortilla is almost touching! Where's the chicken?

The restaurant is charming and clean. The waitress was nice but not very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was like a tv dinner. I ordered a chicken enchilada dinner and got a cheese enchilada. My husband ordered steak nachos and got chicken, lol The enchilada was flat, cold with nothing but congealed red sauce on top. The tortillas was very soggy. The rice was bland,no seasoning or tomato flavor. The beans were definitely canned, served with nothing on top,no cheese, green onions on top.Maybe because it's so stinking expensive to rent on .Lancaster Blvd they don't have enough left for cheese, onions,,Sweet N Low,etc. Never again.

This restaurant is a must when you visit Lancaster. The machaca and popusas are what you expect from a home cooked meal.

Baracoa Cuban Restaurant was an amazing discovery when we stopped for a lunch pitstop on our drive…read moreup towards Tehachapi. I can easily see them being a favorite in the Palmdale area. There was plenty of parking in this lot. The entrance is located through their patio, which can be a bit counter intuitive. We came at opening and the restaurant got really busy during our time there. Initially we were looking at the sandwiches because it was lunch time, but then we were going to a wedding that night so we decided to eat something more filling since the ceremony and speeches always delay the eating. All entrees here are served with black beans and rice or congri, and 3 fried plantains. My boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja ($28) with the congri and I had the Lechon Asado ($25) with the rice and beans. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered. My boyfriend's Ropa Vieja is a Cuban braised beef. The congri is basically a mix of the rice and beans. This dish was super tasty and the shredded beef was so tender with the bell peppers and onions. I can really taste the red wine and tomato sauce in the base. I took a few bites but in general I preferred my dish more, and vis versa he enjoyed his dish more. My lechon asado is a roasted pork that is super super tenderrrrrr. It was so sweet with the grilled onions and it had the perfect amount of fattiness without being over bearing. SO GOOD! Love the plaintains too. I'm glad I got the rice and beans option because I would have gotten too full too quick with the congri. I barely touched my beans and only got through half of my rice. Both dishes came with this super tasty garlic butter sauce that I poured on my rice and made it even tastier. It was so good. One thing I didn't enjoy about the experience was the flies attacking us and our food. Since the door is open and connected to their outdoor space, it leaves the opportunities for flies to come in. We had to play defense with the flies the whole time. The service here is a little slow. Especially when I was trying to get back on the road I wasn't feeling too patient. I waived down multiple staff members too. Also I got hit with an undisclosed 3% surcharge for using my credit card. I only found out after I got the receipt. I would have paid in cash if I knew. *dislike* LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Might be the best Cuban food I've ever had... and I've been to Florida where there was a lot of Cuban spots. Room for improvement with service, flies prevention, and the disclosure of the credit card fee.

Absolutely the best guest hospitality and food quality my family and I have ever experienced eating…read moreout. The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant is always lovely, fun, and lively. The food quality is spectacular! I always get the Baracoa Cubano sandwich and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and organic with each dish I've ordered. Since I have allergies to ingredients used to preserve frozen food, it's always been so hard finding a restaurant with a menu that doesn't cause me issues--and Baracoa has never compromised with their ingredients! The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.

Just don't eat here!…read more We originally wanted to go to the Peruvian place around the corner but they had a "B" health grade so we passed on that. There was a couple tables seated inside this resident so we said "why not, let La try something new". First off they don't have a restroom or it wasn't operational or the Linda at the counter didn't feel like being helpful. We just wanted to wash our hands prior to eating. We ordered the pupusas special on their menu which is 2 pupusas for like $5.69 or something close to that, and one additional cheese and jalapeno one. When she brought the condiments to our table she spilled them which was no biggie. I offed to just wipe it myself. Our food came and we got 4 pupusas. No big deal we weren't gunna complain. Food was below subpar, no flavor and the masa had an off putting smell. As far as the food goes I would NEVER come back here, now would I recommend this place. I wanted to put the tomato based sauce on my pupusas but it was crusty and and when I opened it there was mold growing in the lid. Unfortunately I didn't see this till after we left. We went to pay our bill as she assumed and up charged us for bigger pupusas than what I had pointed to on the menu. When I asked her about it, she said that she assumed that's what we wanted. I let her know that I wanted what we had pointed at in the menu. When I asked her to refund us the difference she said she couldn't because the manager wasn't there and if I wanted to come back. All of this with a very entitled attitude. If there were zero stars, I would rate them that. Incredibly unhappy with my experience here and I'm shocked they're still in business.

I went here on a Tuesday evening…read more I ordered a super papusa but I didn't understand how it worked. I misread the sign that showed what was included for options so I ordered a super papusa with only chicharron and queso. The cashier gave me a confused look but still proceeded with my order. Super papusas are only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays The menu was only in Spanish only so it might make it a bit difficult for people who don't know Spanish or can't use a translator app. Anyways even though I botched my order the papusa they gave me was still good. It was very big (~1 foot in diameter) and has a nice crunch and the cheese was gooey. They also gave me curtido as an appetizer. The curtido had a nice crunch too and the hot sauce that was included was not that spicy.
