I had ate here when they first opened food had tons of flavor portions were big place was clean people were friendly. A few weeks later I went back twice and place was still clean people were friendly but the food was lacking flavor and portions were a lot smaller same thing I ordered last time I was pretty disappoint so I took it off the list. This place has huge portions! I ordered the chicken fajita salad and it could have easily fed 3. Really neat presentation. Chicken wad delicious, could have used a bit more spice in my opinion. We came here while visiting my brother. It happened to be our 19th wedding anniversary. Paula was our server and she was very friendly. We started off having cucumber margaritas. We received yummy chips, salsa, and bean dip (comes with your meal). Hubby ordered the chili verde which was the best we have ever had. I ordered the chicken mole which had a delicious, rich, spicy chocolate sauce, however, the chicken was dry. Paula served us a complimentary shot of tequila w/7 up along with a small, tasty desert. If you don't mind that most if not all meals show up to your table less then 3-4 mins after you order enjoy this place. Burritos, tamales soaked and saturated that there is no flavor. We came 3 days after opening and gave it a pass for the quality thinking they needed time. Well if you visit their other location and or this one you'll realize that it's horrible. The margaritas are sad. They do have great staff and the inside looks nice. But over all it's the worst Mexican restaurant in Anderson and Redding. This is the first Mexican restaurant that I've been to that gives you chips, salsa, AND refried beans!!! And then at the end of the meal, they bring you a free mini dessert! So amazing!!! I assume you would be able to order a spicier dish, but we tend to stay with the tried and true, burrito or tamale and quesadilla, when trying out a new place just for comparison sake. The service, however, was spectacular. Four different servers came by to refresh chips or fill water glasses. FOUR. Let that soak in for a minute. When was the last time you didn't have to flag down a server for something? Our food was delivered so fast I didn't think it was ours and they made a mistake. Traveling from Shasta to the Bay Area, stopped in for lunch takeouts. EXCELLENT!!! The food was SO fresh we all ordered burritos. The bartender was genuinely nice, I splurged for a cucumber margarita while we waited for our food and it was the freshest tasting margarita I've ever had AND the bartender threw in a tequila spritzer shot for each of us!!!! I disagree with those that say hard core Mexican food lovers will be disappointed. We had lunch there yesterday and it was fabulous. I had the chili relleno with refried beans and it was about as authentic as you can get. The salsa was home made and tasty, but not overly spicy. Service was impeccable. Today we learned that some reviews are BOGUS! This restaurant is screaming FABULOUS! The Chile relleno is seriously to-die-for!! I actually took a picture of it to show Mexican-food-loving friends back home. My husband loved his enchilada with his Chile relleno while I was in gourmet-heaven with two Chile relleno ordered a la carte. Wow! Awesome. The house margharitas tasted like Cuervo gold! Then came dessert after the house salsa and warm bean-cheese dip with fresh warm giant tortilla chips. Stuffed to the gills we were asked if we wanted the complimentary tequila poppers. Second time eating here, and we have found our go to spot since moving to the area. Staff have been friendly both times, observant of your drink level, and are prompt with take out boxes and checks. The staff are great with my 2yr old, and dont seem annoyed at her presence like a lot of places seem. Chips are nice and warm, not to thick or overly salted. Their salsa isn't overly hot, just the right touch of spice to it, and they also bring out a small dish of beans to go along side. The first time I had the taco lunch, everything had good flavor and was plenty for a lunch. The second time I had the vegetarian burrito lunch, which was more than enough food for me. Burrito had a good ratio of fillings of beans, lettuce, and rice. The tortilla chips they give you at the end of your meal are the perfect compliment to your meal. read more

My wife and I had dinner here twice; both on our way south and on the return. It was excellent both times. And reasonably priced. The menu has ample selections, both of food and beverages; and the portions (even on the "small" options) were generous. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. The restaurant is clean with attractive Mexican decor. The staff is friendly and attentive. Since we stayed next door at the Best Western Anderson Inn, we got a 15% discount. If you're looking for a good meal on your travels through Northern California, I recommend you stop here. We certainly will on our next trip south. read more

We had the Rodriguez special. It was fantastic and honestly big enough for two people with a side of extra tortillas. It was a tamale, chile Colorado, Chile Relleno and beans, rice and guac with lettuce and tomato and all that. It was so good and lasted a couple days. I highly recommend it. I must say..... I always tell people to go to puerto Vallarta if they are looking for a great Mexican restraint with some of the best service I have ever had! However I will NEVER recommend the Anderson location, there are little kids (17-20) years old with horrible customer service skills. Our waitress was ok but it took longer then expected to order and the food took forever. Not like the Redding locations at all, also I asked for sour cream when our food came and she never brought it. Oh and I don't know if the changed their prices at all locations but they were def higher then last time I ate here. I will never go back here again, which sucks because I live in lake ca and waited a long time for this location to open. If you eat here go to Redding! read more

This is new so that's why they get 2 stars. Salsa was bland and taste like Taco Bell hot sauce. Chips were cold, but it was nice that they served some bland refried beans with the salsa. We didn't wait long to be seated or for our water and ordered shortly after. However, after we ordered we waited a good 25 minutes for our food. It was busy, but not enough to justify the long wait to me. I ordered the lunch special pork carnitas and my husband the chili verde. My pork had more onions then meat which as disappointing. The flavor was lack luster, the rice had zero flavor and was undercooked and the beans were meh. My husband said his chili verde was ok, but needed more flavor. He's made better at home. All in all we will not return. Price for both meals was $22 without a tip. read more

Just moved into town and was excited to eat here! Took our family of four and ordered fajitas, flautas,and Margaritas... "are go to". First of all are margaritas had zero alcohol.. watched the bar tender make them. Then are fajitas had barley any meat with all the veggies ,and not only that there was a huge piece of plastic in with the chicken and almost choked on It! The flautas had such a strange taste! I have never written a review but I felt the strong need to let others know about my experience. First off, I would give 5 stars for the friendly and and attentive wait staff. They are all terrific and couldn't be better. The food is another story. First, the salsa is watery and not that tasty. I have had lunch and dinner and feel the food lacks seasoning. The chicken in the enchiladas was very bland, the chile verde seemed like I was chewing forever. We took our son there, who lived in Texas and he agreed the food lacked seasoning. It's a shame because the restaurant is decorated nicely and everyone is so nice, but, I have to get my Mexican "fix" somewhere else. read more

Guess they figure if they made them and they sat there for an hour before pick maybe I wouldn't notice the soggy flour tortilla and cold food. Tortilla was so soggy it was like mashed potatoes. Someone needs to learn how to season the food. So bland the only thing spicy is the name of the restaurant. That's over $29.00 I'll never get back. read more

What an unexpected pleasure to find this sweet little Mexican restaurant nest-door to our Best Western Hotel. Freshly painted, festive decor, gigantic goblets of margaritas, friendly staff, and free tequila/sprite shots... what more could you ask for? Amanda was a lovely server, and when a fly unceremoniously died a happy death in our goblet, she promptly brought us more tasty margarita, complete with fresh orange slice. Beans with their chips, free cinnamon sugar/whip cream desert chips, and the complimentary shots really gave the restaurant a little edge in terms of originality and ambiance. Our food, chille rellenos and deluxe tostada, were delicious and fresh. I continue to hope that this 5-restaurant chain and all the other lower-middle brow Mexican places we continue to frequent work on pushing the envelope with their menus. Who wants to be a restaurant whose food tastes like their chef shopped at Smart and Final for the same enchilada sauce as all the other Mexican chefs in town? Bring on the pesto enchildas, the spinach and goat cheese fish tacos and more, please! Puerto Valleato is on the right path. read more
