    Chips N Salsa

My wife suggested this place. Since this place was her go to date place before we were married, I figured, why not try the food and give it a terrible review, right?? It's a small place, which I love. Decor is nice, gives off the vibe of a family owned restaurant. Immediately upon being seated, our waiter greeted us with chips and salsa. He was very friendly. The salsa was very good. Very spicy, which I love. We ordered Margaritas and 2 lunch specials. Food came out pretty quickly. Everything looked decent. My wife's dish was good. Chicken was slightly dry and under seasoned but overall was good. My shrimp was also slightly over cooked and underseasoned but delicious overall. My Margarita was huge and good. While I feel the food was a 3 out of 5 stars, the service, atmosphere and prices made the overall experience a 4 out for 5. With a tip, our 2 meals and a huge drink was only $40. When I'm in the area or out on a date, I'll be back!!

This is the first time here for me. Being from Texas I was missing my Tex-Mex flavors and so I came here. Started with some free table side tortilla chips and hot sauce. Nice touch. Salsa was okay; not great. Good enough. Chips ok. I tried the Mole Enchilada plate with shredded chicken in it. Chicken not quite shredded but in small enough pieces. Mole sauce was way too light and not enough coverage. Dollop of sour cream was on top of Enchiladas along with refried beans and some Spanish Rice. Chicken needed a bit more flavor; more mole sauce would've helped. If it had been thicker would've made a tremendous difference. Rice had a good flavor. Refried beans were good but could've had a bit more flavor and thickness to them. A bit runny for my taste. I ate them all, though. I asked about amount of mole sauce and was told that I could have more. Maybe next time. The Enchiladas looked like a thin chocolatey sauce had been spread over them but appearance had a streak and did not have a full coverage as the plate should've had. That was the missing flavor. No, did not experience the missing Tex Mex flavors I came in for. Will be back and give them another try. Service was excellent. Daniel was my waiter.

Only reason it's four stars is they didn't have pork chili for the burrito. Very good food other then that not Americanized Mexican food

By that point I was already seated and committed, but that's something I wish I'd checked beforehand. Because of that, I intentionally ordered something that would come out hot. Wasn't about to order a salad or anything that didn't need to be cooked. So I ordered the fajitas with chicken, steak, and shrimp. You know how fajitas are supposed to come out sizzling on a hot plate? These didn't. They weren't cold, but you could definitely tell everything had been sitting back there for an extended amount of time. They didn't taste fresh at all. And it gets worse. Every time I've ordered fajitas with cheese and bacon anywhere else, you get solid melted cheese and crispy bacon. Here? Runny cheese sauce and bacon that had zero crispiness to it. The whole thing was a mess. The meat portions? Ok the pieces were cut up small. I was picking through all the vegetables and onions trying to find actual pieces of chicken and steak. A lot of peppers and onions. The Verdict: Plaza Azteca was a miss. The margaritas were decent but the fajitas were a lukewarm, runny, disappointing mess with small pieces of meat. Combine that with odd service and some concerning health reviews, and this is a two star experience at best. Won't be going back.

I was too busy stuffing my face to take pictures of our food before we ate but everything was presented so well and we had the awesome experience of the flaming cheese appetizer (we are tourists, you gotta get the fun stuff yk). We were both in the mood for Mexican, this was very close and the ratings looked good. The bar looked impressive as we walked in and after we were seated, we started with 24oz Margaritas (see picture) to accompany our free chips, salsa & white sauce (see picture). While the Margaritas were quite large, we both commented that they seemed a bit weak on the alcohol (or it is possible that they used Reposado tequila with less flavor). My wife decided to order the Combo #2 (pork tamale, ground beef enchilada & ground beef hard shell taco - see picture) while I went with the street tacos - Carnitas (pulled pork), Pollo (chicken) & Al Pastor (spit-roasted pork). We both enjoyed the Combo, with my favorite part being the pork tamale. I'm a big fan of corn tortilla street tacos and found them all to be very good - but my favorite was the Al Pastor. A quick Google search indicated that Al Pastor is a spit-roasted pork influenced by Lebanese shawarma - marinated and then cooked on a vertical rotisserie. This carmelizes the edges, resulting in a savory, tangy and slightly sweet flavor. Whatever the science...I found it delicious! If you found this review helpful, please Share, Follow & Like.
