Puffin Nails is the SPOT. The are affordable, super high quality nails that last. The longest mine lasted was 4 weeks. I truly think it's because they take immense care in cleaning, prepping and shaping the nail bed before gel, acrylics or dip. Misa is who I go to, but all of the ladies and gentlemen there are top tier. If you ever want a design they never say no. Puffin is cash only though, so be sure to bring extra to tip. I had legitimately the best mani/pedi I've had in a really long time a couple days ago! Hannah did my nails and absolutely knocked it out of the park. I am soo happy I finally gave Puffin Nails a chance. I had been eyeing them for a while, but had been going to Alegna Nails since I moved to the area, but I will never go back there after this experience. At Puffin, it's immediately a very professional environment. No one is yelling across the room at each other. It's quiet, and there are tons of tables and a few massage chairs and foot baths for pedicures. It's extremely clean in there. The motif is bright and pink, it makes you feel like you're in an classy place. Hannah was quiet, but really thoughtful and great at her job. She even made sure to let me know that they didn't have an exact match in the regular polish since I like to use that on my toes. She helped me find a color that is almost unnoticeably different from my finger nails. She was methodical and made sure to do both my finger and toe nails to my satisfaction. I pointed out a couple things I wanted her to fix, and she did without showing any signs of annoyance or anything. The ONE thing was after I asked a question about my thumb because there was a line that looked like it was going to stay there if cured, the older woman working next to Hannah immediately said something to her in Vietnamese, and I think anyone would assume that was probably in reference to my comment because of the timing. That wasn't entirely appreciated, but all in all, the whole experience was so much better than I've had at Alegna lately, so I do think I will continue to come here! Also of note, they do charge a fee for using a credit card. I wish they would say something before going through with it, or have a sign up. I tried looking around before I paid and didn't see anything posted, so I assumed credit was fine. Just something to keep in mind. read more

Cindy is excellent at manicures and every pedicure I have gotten here has been excellent as well! My mani and pedi from puffin lasts way longer than most other salons I've been to. I did almost get a wonky mani from Cindy once but I pointed it out after I realized it wasn't getting better (it wasn't curing correctly and was sticky too) and she spent so much time correcting it while there. It wasn't her fault (something was wrong with the glitter gel I chose). Only downside is that I personally feel that their gel and dip colors are lacking for me. If you are going for a neutral or really out there color you are fine but I love me some pinks and reds and the ones they have just feel...dated and clash with my skin. I don't know why. Maybe if I did regular polish it would be ok. read more

I have been coming to Puffin for years and I will never go anywhere else! From the owner to every single individual who works at this establishment, each one is a joy and true professional. With my crazy schedule as a nurse, they are flexible and don't ever make me feel bad for having to cancel and/or reschedule and they are always willing to try their best to fit me in if I'm in a pinch or have an event to go to. The business itself is clean and always has great music playing, beautiful flowers and decorations inside. It always lifts my spirits coming here because they treat everyone like family. Furthermore I come with my mom sometimes and she uses a walker and has a harder time walking and moves slower. They always help her to walk and get in and off the pedicure chair. They never make us feel rushed or like she is a burden. Long story short, I love it here! read more

I arrived on time for my appointment and was not just seated but cared for immediately on time. Eric worked to carefully soak the gel off my nails and encouraged me to keep my natural nails again with dip powder. Cindy built perfect shape with careful attention to detail with not just the nail but the cuticles as well. No burning by over drilling and no slicing from filing or cuticle care or rough fast handling. All technicians were kind, gentle and took their time attentive to each other's work as a true team. All supplies were sanitized and noone was rushing through any of the clients nails. The atmosphere is lovely as you are surrounded by live plants and tasteful acoustic music pleasing to people of all ages. Cindy took the time to separate my finger to where it's not glued to the nail tip, cleaned any excess dip out from under my nails, AND straightened them perfectly without me having to ask her to or request for her to correct anything. To top the already excellent experience off, I was pampered with a lovely hand and arm massage with lotion and hot towel before the end of our time together. These people work with tender love and care. FINALLY, after 10 salons from Napa to Concord, I have found an amazing nail salon. Even the bathroom was clean and well kept. They work their tails off here- please tip appropriately and think about the time and effort they put into caring for you. It's far from easy to get your nails how you want them on the first try but Puffin NAILED it! I will go nowhere else. By the way, they accept card. read more

Bare bone regular manicures, rushed. My poor cuticles. Instead of gently being pushed back slowly as expected, they are either rammed quickly a few times with a steel cuticle tool (ouch!) or done with an electric buffing tool. Both leave cuticles peeling within two days. I've left with nail color left on the skin, and dead skin still rough on sides; little attention to detail; yet, top end fees charged for the most basic of manicures.
