After a day on the slopes, nothing tastes as delicious as a beer and some beef. I was craving some seafood, but after a 20-minute conversation about the difference between calamari and pig bung, I opted (wisely) for the Uptown Dillion burger (cooked medium and topped with bacon, sauteed mushrooms, onions, and pepperjack cheese). It was one tasty burger. Also fantastic: washing it down with the Morningwood Wheat and Red Eye Irish Amber. Service was a bit slow, but picked up toward the end. I sat outside for lunch on a weekday in the summer. It was not busy, inside or out. It took a while for everything to happen. It was like the whole place was on slo-mo. I sat for almost 10 minutes before the server came out to ask me what I wanted to drink. I had already read the menu and decided what I wanted so I ordered an Uptown burger. I went here with friends and it looked to be a fairly busy place when we first got there, and the host told us that it was a 30min wait to be seated. That was fine with us, but we did notice that there were two tables right at the front of the dining room were empty, and continued to be so over the course of our wait. While we waited, people who came in after us were seated, so we naturally inquired about when they thought we'd be seated, and to which the host just looked at us and said "Who are you guys? Did you put our name down?" We were shortly seated in the back of the restaurant after that, where there was about 8 empty tables just sitting there. Okay, enough about the wait experience - the food was okay at best, and definitely not something to write home about. I stopped in here with friends on our way to a ski weekend in Keystone and was not disappointed. 4 words of advice - get the pretzel appetizer!! Then get the wings. Pug Ryan's knocks off my ski socks. First off, the bar is killer. They have a great happy hour [albeit not as good as dillon dam]. $2.50 a brew [woo!] and 25% off appetizers. I really dug the wings. I also killed a Pallavacini Pilsner and a Kiltlifter faster than you could say "moderation is key". At that price, why not? This, of course, is not the draw. Another reviewer said PR is known for the ribs. Maybe this is true, but the menu informs me that Prime Rib [same acronym!] is "what this place is famous for". Damn straight it is, and damn skippy it should be. The prime rib I ate there is probably the best I've ever had. I'm as carnivorous as a T-rex, so this means something. The service rocks. The beer is great. It's cozy, and intimate without being being "Colorado, tourist trap cheesy." Every time I'm riding Copper, I make sure to drop by, have a bite and a brew. read more

Being a local would really like to say "go here" but sorry...NO Was hoping that after the so called "re-model" a few years ago that the food and atmosphere would improve...not so much. They built a patio and new entrance but as soon as you walk inside its the same OLD and TIRED Decor...geez...are you kidding??? Guys..it's time to call the 1970's..they want their Restaurant back!!! Food?...well, have tried everything from burgers (nothing special) , fish and chips (poor quality and ordinary fries..NOT thick cut "chips") and even there "special" Prime Rib..FATTY and WAY over priced even for Summit County. Barf, Bart, Barf. Super disappointed since they're under new ownership. Took my Mom here when she was visiting me last weekend and we ordered some happy hour apps which were awful...literally it was as if they dumped an entire salt container into our peppers as well as the Brussels sprouts. Not to mention the Brussels sprouts are advertised in menu as crispy when they came out entirely drenched in the sauce so they were in more so a soup of sauce. Our entrees were pretty gross too. My rum and coke average (pretty funny that there's a proper way to pour a legit rum and coke) an overall my Mom was pretty grossed out and offended she had to pay a $70+ tab for such awful food. Despite having been a former resident of Summit County, last weekend's dinner at Pug Ryan's was my first experience with this Dillon institution. I would kick myself for not visiting sooner, but back then I was on a ski bum's budget. And while Pug's isn't insanely priced, the fine food and atmosphere rightly cost more than a McDouble. What drew us to Pug Ryan's initially was the lure of craft beer. My wife and I are a bit cuckoo when it comes to beer, so we're always searching for new options. From this standpoint, Pug's didn't disappoint. We enjoyed a nice porter that served as a seasonal option, and I went on to try the Pali Pilsner (so named for the famed Palivacinni Bowl at nearby A-Basin ski resort). Both brews were formidable, with the porter offering a nice balance of hops, smoke and malt, and the pilsner representing Czech tradition proudly. More importantly, we beat the 6 p.m. Happy Hour deadline. Dinner was even better, and despite our best efforts, we ate beyond our capacity. We both had the Salmon oscar, which features (if I recall accurately) wild caught sockeye with snow crab lump on top, along with the traditional bearnaise and asparagus spears. I had the baked potato, while my wife chose the veggies, and both options were as you would expect (kinda hard to screw those up). Dinner salad was exactly what you'd want ... perfect portion and decent mix of cucumbers, tomatoes and croutons. We ordered the calamari as an app before realizing they served great bread with the meal. Bread was awesome, but calamari was pretty pedestrian (our only real complaint of the evening). We sat near the patio, so we had a slight Lake Dillon view. Our server was a cool cat, if a tad too mellow ... but that's the Summit County way, and I'll take it. Pug's has a new fan. read more

Went here for my sis's bday when we were up in the mountains for the weekend - I ordered the Salmon Oscar and my sis ordered the Salmon special, but she wanted to trade when it came :/ - it was her birthday ... . . The Salmon Oscar was amazing though - light (not in calories), perfect combo of sauce, crab and bernaise. My salmon was decent too - it was just a grilled salmon w/ some veggies - but nothing to salivate over. The bread that they served w/ before the meal was pretty outstanding and the butter - mmmmmmmmm the butter. The salads before the meal are very nice - esp because i wasn't sure whether to expect an iceberg lettuce salad or something good - and it ended up being something good - good lettuces, good veggies, etc - so i was very happy about that. I like the beer - especially the one that I ordered - which was the funky monk - highly recommended if it's on the menu. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday and were surprised by how busy Pug Ryan's was. We snagged a table and looked over the draft brew list. They offered ~a dozen of there beers, made on premise. Our group got a variety of tasters before settling on the Scottish ale, Helles and a seasonal Blonde. Several TVs were around the room, and we caught one of our team's basketball games while we waited for our lunch. The Greek salads, ordered by everyone, took 40 minutes. Seemed a bit excessive for a salad, but maybe they have limited staff on weekend lunchs. Just be warned- food may take a while. The salads were big, with lots of feta, tomatoes, and red peppers. We added chicken ($4) to the $11.99 salad, and friends added salmon ($6). Both were really nice sized servings of proteins- really tasty. Went after a long day of skiing. Saw good reviews on Yelp and that they were offering a free pint of beer for a "check-in", which caught my eye. Got to the restaurant to be told the Yelp offer was expired. Comped us three beers anyways---earned an extra star for this. Stuffed Shrimp - OK, but for the price I would have expected better. The sides were lacking (tin foil baked potato--very average & specialty green beans--inedible). Peach Cobbler - Tasted like something you buy pre-made frozen in a grocery store and microwave for a few minutes. Not impressed at all. Table beside us sent theirs back without eating it. Burgers - Decent, based on feedback from the group I was with. Fries were average at best. Although we were sitting indoors, we kept smelling a strong odor of marijuana smoke. Not sure if the waitress was burning one out back on us mid-meal. But then again, it's Colorado. read more

I agree with the Cheers reference - a very friendly pub and restaurant. We ate here waiting out a huge (and typical) delay from Silverthorne up to the Eisenhower Tunnel on a Sunday evening during ski season. What we found was a very popular sports bar (the football game we wanted to watch was on, lots of screens in the bar area so we sat at the bar). I was driving so I didn't drink, but they have their own brewery on site, and I have had their beers, and they're great. We ordered the ribs, and they were excellent. I can't comment on the rest of the menu, but the food overall was good, the service super friendly and the atmosphere lively and fun. I highly recommend for a pub/sports bar atmosphere. read more

We sat out on the deck overlooking the dam lake, three yahoos killin' a couple of hours and soaking in a new place. The beer was good, we had a variety and agreed all was well made, they were on happy hour and it was quite a good deal too. The place does seem a little rundown for a steakhouse, but they are in the midst of construction/expansion. It filled up as we were leaving, so they must do things right. I've been into Pug Ryans at least a half a dozen times and each time they have had great beer and great food. I've had everything from fried mac and cheese served with a corn dog that was awesome (Everyone laughed at me in my party asking me if I was 3 yrs old) to the wings and burgers. They have some serious good brews on tap as well and there is always something new and interesting to try that isn't the run of the mill stuff you see on tap. It's definitely a cool locals spot in Silverthone/Dillon and personally i think it's a much better spot to go to then a more known brewery spot in town. Cheers read more

I'd give this a 3.5 star if we had the option, but I'll lean toward 3 since we don't. The wait staff here, both times I attempted to visit, weren't all that friendly. It really seems like a trend for Colorado... I hate to say that and hope my next visit changes my mind. Service was quite slow... it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks after we were seated. The saving grace was the food... it was worthy of a 4 star review. I had ribs and have learned to stop asking if they fall off the bone, because everyone says yes, no matter how tough they come out. I figured I'd risk it and was rewarded. The full rack was way too much food for me to eat, had to throw half a rack to my nephew who normally could eat half a cow and still be hungry, and he could barely finish as well (in addition to his fish entree). The ribs were very tender and flavorful... well worth the price. I'd absolutely suggest a half rack. If they can just work on being nicer and getting their timing down, it would be a great place. read more

If when you go out to a restaurant the only thing you care about is the food, this place is absolutely 5 stars, no need to read any further. Everything is delicious and homemade. Amazing food! The beer was solid too and I can't leave that out! However, that being said, when I go out to eat it's more about the experience for me - because I can cook great food on my own. When we arrived, we were told there were no tables and the wait would be 30 minutes. Only 1 couple ahead of us were waiting. So, when some bar seats opened up in 5 minutes, we just took those. Within minutes, we watched at least 3 tables open up. So that sucked. Our bartender and server was excellent and super nice, but I am really sad to say, he was kind of smelly. But even though he was so nice and the food was great, it was still off-putting. We also know when you sit at the bar sometimes you sit by obnoxious drunk people. But the woman next to us was not only drunk, cussing like a sailor - but also was apparently an employee of this establishment and was bitching about internal stuff the whole time. That's just not professional. If I owned this establishment, is realize what a great restaurant and brewery I had and get my staff to tighten up their acts. A friend told me about this place, which unbeknownst to me was right down the road from our ski house. For convenience, the location couldn't be better. A few friends and I walked over for dinner last night and it was pretty hoppin. We were able to snag a table in the bar area right away. Service was prompt & friendly. I ordered a glass of Malbec and was pleased to note the happy hour special on my bill was $5.50 - not bad. Their buffalo wings were some of the better I've encountered and hit the spot. I was also able to order a buffalo burger to take back for my husband who couldn't join us. It was ready at exactly the same time we paid our tab and arrived hot off the grill. If you're in Dillon, or looking for a relaxing spot for inexpensive, but good food (and drinks!) after a hard day of hitting the slopes then do yourself a favor and check out this little gem. read more

Stopped by Pug Ryan's after a day of snowboarding in hopes of getting a great meal. We ended up with that and more. The beer was pretty good for a small brewpub, the food was delicious and the prices were fair if not rather affordable. In addition to the great menu offerings and beer, the setting is rather comfortable with a wood burning fireplace in the middle of the room, great cozy atmosphere with great energy. (visited in the off season and was still lively, not sure how they handle a real crowd, but looking forward to coming back.) read more

The beer here is decent.... but the food is sub-par. I have tried this place a few times always wanting to like it because I feel like it is a staple in Dillon, but every time I go I am disappointed. I have gotten the fish and chips (greasy and over breaded), appetizers, buffalo wings.. etc. I have tried a number of items but nothing is memorable or even worth it. I find it very over priced for typical bar food. There are way better options in the area. Also, each time I went the waitstaff were very unfriendly and kind of just awkward. My friends and I once asked to have our check split.. the waiter put all three entrees on one check, gave one of us a few apps. and some beer and then gave the last person just an appetizer... hello? when is that ever how you split a check? Food is great, service is great. We went here due to its location near our hotel and the yelp reviews. But you need to remember it's a pub too... there was a drunk chick that was obnoxiously loud and vulgar. I was across the room from her table and could understand her convorsation more than what was being said at my table. But don't let that stop you from coming. The filet I had was very good and cooked the way I wanted. My mom had the trout which was big enough that she couldn't finish it. Excellent quality of food, excellent beers, and overall a great place. One huge complaint- between November 2014 and April 2015 I called to place an order for pickup eight, literally eight times. Each time was between 7pm-830pm, typically on a week night. Seven times I was told that "the kitchen is too busy because we just had a huge group come in". Exact line every time. Only one time they allowed me to place an order. Today I was told the same thing, but decided to come in and see for myself. It's now about five minutes after my call and rejection, and there are at least 15 tables open, and not one large group here. Lies!!! The atmosphere was nice, the beer prices are decent. Cocktail prices are very high. We had a group of 10 adults and the service started good, but once we received our food, one persons food was wrong and it was corrected but it took at least 10 minutes or more. The waitress openly admitted she made the mistake of the wrong food. The person had to eat after everyone else was finished and then we were still charged for the meal. The waitress never came to check on us once after all the food was delivered or to see if we wanted anymore beer. There is a VERY HIGH gratuity rate added to groups 6 or more. So the waitress received a very high tip for bringing us food and never coming back to help us. The meal that was missed was charged full price. Once asking to have the price reduced the tip amount was never reduced even when the total was lowered. Overall the food was good but the service was NOT! Don't order the Mac n cheese, it's just noodles with microwaved shredded cheese over the top. Automatic gratuity automatically reduces the service received. read more

I was disappointed in my recent visit. Apparently there are new owners as of a few years ago. I can understand menu changes but I was very disappointed in the menu choices and my meal. When I would go to Pug Ryan's under the previous owners I would always get their Salmon Oscar. It was amazing! I also enjoyed their prime rib! It was a delicious menu! You could tell the kitchen and restaurant took great pride in providing amazing food. Now they have more of a generic Pub menu. We ordered the wings to start and for pub food they were fine. I opted for their salmon dish and was quite disappointed. The "orange sauce" was tasteless and the vegetables that came with it were also unseasoned. Under this new menu and lack of flavor I will not be back any time soon. Hopefully they will revamp their menu and I just might give it another shot. read more
