Every brewery we go to, I get a flight of beers. Here, I liked them all!! First time ever that I've really liked more than 3. Fav was the hellies. It was $7 for 5 x 5oz beers. You can only buy 6 packs of a few flavours, and hellies was one, only $8.50! So we got a few to take home. FYI the pale ale has a really hoppy after taste. The service was great here too, and it was pretty busy so it was nice that we got checked on and given advice etc. read more

For the name Pug Ryan they aren't thattt dog friendly. No dogs on the outside deck, only down below in the dirt area. This was fine to us, but they sat us at a table with no umbrella shade and there was a dirty table with shade next to us, so right when the hostess sat us I asked if we could sit at the shady table when it's ready and she said "yes sure, but it might take a while to clear off" (there was 1 appetizer plate on it). We were also fine with that still! We said no problem we'll wait at the sunny table and switch whenever it's ready. 5 min later they bring other people over to the shady table clear the plates and sit them down there....the waiter goes to us "oops oh well" ....let's not forget there were about 5 shady tables available on the deck but no dogs allowed there.. read more

I like the location, it's perfect for a beer before a concert or a cozy beer after skiing. BUT The food is phoned in, it's fine for bar food but of the many times I've been there I just get the impression I could probably make better food at home. I have worked in the restaurant industry in summit for 5 years and the wait staff at pugs is always lovely but they are treated poorly by management and the chain affects customer experience. Speaking of management they are rude and handle issues poorly, especially with locals. Do yourself a favor and stop at one of the many other Breweries popping up in summit and skip Pugs. read more

This brewery should have a higher rating! Check them out during this busy season. Dillon Dam brewery had a two hour wait and unfriendly hostesses. We found this gem that is Pug Ryan's- they got our family of 10 in right away and the food was delicious! read more

Came for a conference and stopped here for dinner. Great classic IPA to start. I ordered the southern burger which sounded tantalizing with the promise of crisp pork belly on top but it was not that crispy. The French fries were delicious and the service was great! read more

Excellent views of the lake from the deck and a cozy bar for watching sports. I liked their Pale Ale better than the IPA...which was weird. The IPA has more malty notes, while the Pale Ale has that hint of skunky bitterness I like. Definitely worth a return visit. read more

I can't believe that I have not reviewed Pug Ryan's. This is a great spot for chow in the mountains. I've had dinner there a couple times and their steaks are good, but I really love the bar. Their French Onion Soup is the best I have ever had. Ever. We also enjoy the trout appetizer and the salmon cakes are pretty good too. I often think about the French Onion Soup, however. We YELPED this place and due to the good reviews we stopped by. Good choice for us as our whole group was very impressed with all food and drink choices. Our table tried many of the beers available and each were yum. My friend had an aged rum beer and yes it tasted like rum but was still very enjoyable. We had ribs, steak, burgers, fish and a portabella burger for our meals and we each enjoyed our choice. We also had fries and artichote dip for starters and both were tasty and went well with our beer. Great choice for a beer and pub fair. Friendly staff. I recommend this for anyone driving through or visiting Dillon, CO. Great post-slopes stop. read more

My wife & I visited Pug's on one of the hottest days of the year & it was down right miserable inside this restaurant. I know it's a functioning brewery but Damn! The atmosphere (other than the sweltering heat) was nice and our server was on top of his game. I had the flight of beers & enjoyed them all but settled for a full pint of the "cream" style summer beer. I had the bacon wrapped filet for my meal, although cooked well it was seriously under seasoned. My wife had the "lady's cut" prime rib and had the same opinion, seasoning!! All in all a good visit but for these prices I expect more. read more

Cross country trips are mostly fast food and gas stations on the Interstate but an overnight stay in the Silverthorn/Dillon area of Colorado led us to a great little place to hang out, drink some beers and have good food in a friendly and comfortable environment. Pug's is cozy, friendly and what I consider 'old Colorado' with none of the fancy Aspen type thing going on. A roaring fire in the fireplace greeted us, as did a ponytailed host. He led us to the back of the dining room saying it would be quieter there but we said 'no, we want the busier side with laughter and fun going on'. So we got a table fairly close to the bar area. We ordered fish and chips and a French dip. Both were perfectly made, perfectly seasoned and delivered promptly. I had one of their own beers which turned out not to be right for me. The waiter quickly suggested another and brought it by. Perfect! Then Travis, the owner came by and chatted with us which was very cool. It was one of the best places I've eaten at one of those towns along 70 through the Rockies. Check it out. read more

Spent a great Sat. night here. We have been here many times in the past 20 years that we have been coming to Summit County. Spent the evening watching a Pink Floyd Jam Band performing at the Dillon form amphitheater. Shared the mac&cheese with an order of shishito peppers with my daughter. Lovely evening. read more

I love this restaurant! I've been here a few times & the beer / food have never been disappointing. The food is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. My favorite dish is the spicy Thai vegetable pasta. The sauce is indeed spicy! They also have a decent happy hour if you want to eat after you hit the slopes. read more

We visited this brewery and restaurant twice while in Dillon. The food is great as well as the service - my husband had the tuna grinder both times. I had a Southwest-style salad the first and the El Loco Burger the second. They have a great variety of house beers on tap (and Wednesday's are discount growler days - FYI). We grabbed a variety pack of cans to go also, which made enjoying their beer in our condo much easier. They are accommodating with kids food also - they made a grilled chicken breast and steamed broccoli for our daughter instead of ordering off the kids menu. The large outdoor patio has a gorgeous view. We will be back next time we're in Dillon! read more

Menu has CHANGED. For many years I've enjoyed the DINNERS at Pug Ryans, and I was looking forward to another on this visit to Summit Co. Unfortunately they've got a new menu as of a few months back, and they are planning on revising it again this fall. So, don't go based on reviews over a few months old (9/2017) The once-excellent dinner menu has been reduced to a PUB menu, with 6 dinner choices, one frozen, two BBQ, and the others more heat-and-serve than "cooking". The Pub menu is mostly burgers and other quick-to-fix heat-up items, along with overpriced apps (so they can offer a 25% discount during Happy Hour). The beer is good, the apps ok (with discount), but the dinners are basically gone. There was some talk about the difficulties of a small kitchen and cooking real food. I got the BBQ sandwich, with fries and slaw. Good, attentive service, ok food, but nothing special. Oh well. read more

I had an excellent experience here. I did a day trip in Dillon mainly to see the ice castles but we also took a stroll around the lake and had a delicious lunch at Pug Ryans. My friends and I ordered 3 appetizers and shared family style. It was easy to fill up time here because they had a great selection of beer with a set list and a rotating list. I tend to struggle making decisions between different beers, so I greatly appreciated it when our waiter kindly suggested to bring out samples for me. Comparing the two samples made me happy with my pint choice. One thing to note, the day we went seemed to be understaffed. There wasn't a long wait (~15min) but many tables were open and service was noticeably slower than usual dine-in service. My friends and I weren't in a rush, so it didn't phase us. I went here around 5:00 p.m. on Friday so right in time for happy hour and had a so-so experience. They do have good happy hour specials but the service was pretty lousy. They only had 1 waitress working the bar area so she was running around like crazy. I did notice that they had two hostesses so you'd think that the extra hostess would've helped but she was just sitting there doing nothing. The food was pretty standard for bar food, I got a burger and chicken wings and they were tasty. It's a cool brewery for the Dillon area so I wouldn't be opposed to trying it out again. read more

The pork green chili was spot on for spice. Great IPA, attentive staff, nice patio with crab salad that was quite nice. My friends had burgers & said they were great. The fries were just OK. I live in Leadville and consider Pug Ryan's a "local" even though it's 45 minutes away. Excellent brew (I like the Classic IPA and the Pack Iron Pale Ale, but have liked almost everything I have tasted). The atmosphere is laid back, the food excellent bar fare (especially the fries . . . ), and the service friendly. There are plenty of screens with sports if you like that sort of thing, but you can also sit where you don't have to watch it. There is a fireplace that is nice for colder months. There are two reasons that I gave 4 stars instead of 5: 1) There is almost never anyone at hostess stand at the entrance to great guests--you have to wait for someone to show up (and sometimes more than a few minutes) and 2) they are sometimes out of things. I understand that this is not uncommon in our neck of the woods. A lot of restaurants start by listing what they are out of. However, when it is the black bean burger and it is delicious and the basis for most of the vegetarian dishes on the menu, it makes me sad. There are a few other veggie dishes, including mac and cheese and salads, or you can build a meal with appetizers, but I wish they wouldn't run out. We will be back many, many times. read more

After spending the majority of the day shopping, we came here for dinner. The place was packed and we were told to wait around 20 mins. When it came time, we were shown to a small table in the back of the restaurant and a rather bewildered server took our order. I initially wanted a steak, but the prices here were extremely high for steak so I went for a bacon cheeseburger deluxe instead. Our order came out quickly and I was surprisingly amazed at the extreme flavor and gigantic size of the burger. The meat patty was thick and juicy, the bacon strips were thick and crisp and the cheese was full bodied with a zesty flavor. I almost couldnt eat the whole thing, it was that huge. While going here be sure to use the $1 beer check in special since they make all their own beers. I had one called the Deadeye Dunkel which was stout and full flavored. The place was very loud, but the last game of the world series was on, which is expected. read more

We visited the Pug Ryans Brewery while we're on our ski vacation. The four of us, 3 adults and one 11 yr old, arrived at the restaurant a little early at 4:30 but we were hungry since we are on east coast time. We were seated quickly, and were greeted by Sean, our waiter. He took our drink order: Pug's Iron Pale Ale, a Pilsner, Coke, and a water :-). It was happy hour so appetizers were 25% off. We ordered the Wings with Thai sauce, and the Soft Pretzel with Brat samples. They were both very good, wings were crispy and the sauce was good. The pretzel was warm, salted and delicious. The brat sample was good too. For dinner we ordered Burger with Bacon only, a full rack of ribs, and build your own Mac n' Cheese with bacon. The portion are huge and overall were very good. Two of us shared a full rack of ribs and we have leftovers. It was well smoked and the bbq sauce had a good balance of vinegar, sweetness, and thickness. The burger came with fries, it was cook medium well as ordered, it was huge for a child, so a quarter of the burger were left, not because of taste but because of the portion. The Mac n' Cheese was tasty too, good portion, and the garlic bread that came with it looked good with it. It wasn't finished completely and we have to take some home with us. Overalll, both the beer and the food were very good. The service was good and we would come back. read more

Nice place by Lake Dillon to grab burger and some beer. Pleasantly surprised to see some seafood on the menu. The fish and chips was good.

After a day on the slopes, nothing tastes as delicious as a beer and some beef. I was craving some seafood, but after a 20-minute conversation about the difference between calamari and pig bung, I opted (wisely) for the Uptown Dillion burger (cooked medium and topped with bacon, sauteed mushrooms, onions, and pepperjack cheese). It was one tasty burger. Also fantastic: washing it down with the Morningwood Wheat and Red Eye Irish Amber. Service was a bit slow, but picked up toward the end. TVs were everywhere making conversation a bit difficult, especially since they were showing some documentary on white supremacy. What gives, guys? read more

I sat outside for lunch on a weekday in the summer. It was not busy, inside or out. It took a while for everything to happen. It was like the whole place was on slo-mo. I sat for almost 10 minutes before the server came out to ask me what I wanted to drink. I had already read the menu and decided what I wanted so I ordered an Uptown burger. It was standard: good, not great. They aren't using lean ground beef by ay means, as it was pretty greasy. Next time, I'll come for dinner and update my review. read more
