I've been travelling to Summit County to ski nearly every winter for a very very long time. Stopped into Pug's a couple weeks ago for the first time. Finding a seat wasn't a problem and our group sat down to unwind after a long day of travel. Our server was excellent and she informed us that a few things off the menu weren't available due to an understaffed kitchen and that only a few beer selections were on tap because their head brewer had recently quit. Not a stellar start, but shit happens in the restaurant industry. My rating--I ordered a steak which was good but slightly over-cooked for my tastes and their unfortunately minimal beer selection. I don't like IPAs and that was really the only option for "lighter" beers. I'm sure they'll get things sorted out and when they do, I'll give them another chance. read more

My husband and I decided to do takeout from pugs. We are locals-live here. I got a steak sub with beer cheese & salad. Salad is ok, but the steak sub is so overcooked it's actually burnt. Husband said they weren't busy so there's no excuse. The beer cheese has the consistency of water. Horrible! I work at a restaurant and I can't imagine my place sending food out like this. Will not eat at pugs again. Had the same thing last time too. Thought I'd give it another chance and I got burned again. read more

Mind you this is not a full review of coming in and enjoying dinner. I simply picked up a meatball sub to go and brought it back to my hotel room to eat. The sandwich pictured looks far better than it actually was. Meatballs were overcooked, and the flavor bland. For a $20 price tag your better off heading to the Subway sandwich shop for much higher quality at half the price. This place seems more like a local watering hole then catering to the tourist. We have been coming to Keystone for over 20 years and Pug Ryan's has always been a staple. Today, very disappointing. Very very rundown there were 2 to 4 patrons in the restaurant. Normally the outside is flooding with people and dogs. The grass was dead. The wood deck was chipped. The lady at the entrance did not smile or welcome us, gave us a nasty look, did not say hi, or, have a good day or anything. I will never go back. read more

Had dinner on the outdoor patio which was nice. The service was a little slow. I had the fish and chips which was very good. The fish was flaky and tasty. We also had the Mac and cheese which was also good. The drinks we ordered were strong so that means they were good, right? The place is in walking distance of the Hilton which was a nice feature. Something is wrong with their kitchen. Everything had a taste of mold and freezer burn. They seem to rehydrate most dishes and microwave or steam frozen meals. My guess is that the only way to do this place is for beers and burgers. Otherwise, it's horrible. Only pick meals that have high volume to ensure it's fresh. Even the ice cream and brownies were off. Which means they have an infection in the kitchen storage. Their head chef needs to do a full kitchen clean, restock, and menu revamp. Then they will be able to produce decent food as long as they focus on what they can actually do well. read more

If memory serves I was at Pug Ryans many years ago but getting an updated experience of their beer I felt was necessary. For Pug Ryans Steve and I both had their version of the Dunkel beer. Not a bad dark lager at all. Flavorful and fun to drink my first impression also says that this is a very popular beer with customers! read more

We had a really nice lunch and drink here during our visit to the Dillon Reservoir! There was some kind of van-living conference going on in town that day, so it was a busy day in the central part of this beautiful mountain town. We put our name in and the wait was only 20 minutes - enough time for us to go take photos in front of the reservoir and explore the beautiful waterfront. I highly recommend this course of action! I got the text that our table was ready and we headed into the restaurant proper. I wish I would have gotten a flight, but my beer was light and refreshing. My date really enjoyed his as well! We went with the pretzels and I ordered the chicken salad sandwich for my meal. The fries are really good here and my sandwich hit the spot after a day of driving and walking. The vibe is certainly family friendly and there were a LOT of kids here of many different ages. Our server was excellent though the the rest of the staff we encountered were pretty chilly. Worth it for the easy seating process, great beer, and decent food. read more

My first experience at Pug Ryan did not disappoint! It was a snowing Saturday early afternoon so most people were probably on the slopes, while I was seated quickly at the bar. Our bar tender was friendly and informative. He lets us sample a beer as my husband was curious but wasn't sure he wanted to order a pint. We each got a pint and ordered an appetizer of chip and queso. The queso was a bit too thin and runny for my liking but had great flavor. I got the pork green chili and my husband got the French onion soup, both were delicious, warm and a perfect cozy winter meal. We were both full from just that but our eyes were clearly bigger than our stomachs and we ordered fries. The fries were fine, nothing special, I wouldn't recommend them. We will be back to try more beers when we visit the area. read more

Service is extremely inattentive even when the restaurant is dead. The staff mills about, there are plenty of them, usually in a corner talking as a group and not doing much of anything else. Issues with the restaurant extend to the kitchen. Our fries were all burned past the point of being edible and sent to the table anyway (overheard another person saying they're consistently cooked that way), my burger tasted like it was cooked next to the fish my friend ordered and vice versa; both were pretty awful. The food runner was setting plates of food to be served on tables that hadn't been cleaned, pushing dirty dishes across the table with the clean ones to make room. Came here with a group of 4 on a Sunday around 6 pm. We were easily able to get a table. The menu had many options on it. I ordered the French onion soup. I really enjoyed it! Very cheesy and warm on a cold day! Pretty filling since I wasn't very hungry. The waitress was nice but wasn't very attentive and didn't bring us any utensils or napkins until was asked. Something changed. I've been going here for the last 4 years every time I go on a weekend ski trip. It's always been a great way to end the day with a beer. The last couple times I've gone this year the beers have tasted like dirty tap or honestly more like bleach. Same goes for the fountain drinks. I think this is a place that is hit or miss depending on when you go and what you order. We've been twice in the past month because a neighboring restaurant we planned to dine at was closed. They seem to be short-staffed but were able to sit us down immediately if we were flexible with inside or out. The first time we sat inside in the bar area. It is really dark and seems weird that they blocked the lake view with the brewery tanks. It was a bummer to be in the darkness on a beautiful sunny day. However, I could see this being cozy during the winter months. Most recently, we sat outside and the mountain views are so beautiful! We ordered the chicken salad sandwich both times to split. It's refreshing and good! We also enjoyed the beer and margaritas we ordered. So no complaints on the food and drinks! The first visit, we saw our server outside drinking alcohol and smoking while we were waiting on her to check us out. It felt unprofessional and just annoying when we waited around 10-15 minutes just to have our card ran knowing she was just doing her own thing. First of all, with the Coronavirus scare all of Frisco and Dillon was shut down, but luckily our crew stumbled into this pot of gold brewery. Best food of any brewery that I have been too. If you already ate I would recommend the appetizers. The cheesy fries are fantastic. The drinks menu is the real reason why you want to be here. They got somewhere around 20 choices and all are good. Great food and atmosphere! We really enjoyed kicking back with dinner and a few drinks after a day on the slopes.

Wow. Definitely a place to stop in to for a great meal. After skiing all day at keystone, we stayed in the area and headed to pug Ryan's brewery for dinner. Our server Chris, was so welcoming and had some honest, great suggestions. He graciously described his favorite and what to expect with each dish. For an appetizer, we got the wings, and had a couple of specific requests (extra crispy & only the flappers) and they were happy to accommodate-- understandable that special requests are annoying but, Chris was so easy going about asking the kitchen. For dinner, we got the Shepard's Pie (group favorite), Meatloaf & the El Loco burger (fries are fresh cut--delicious). Great food, great service & great ambiance. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area and will absolutely be back. read more

The manager was walkin around bossing everyone around and cursing under his breath but was doing absolutely nothing to help his staff. He was rude to customers and kept stopping people trying to use the restroom or order from the bar. He was absolutely unprofessional and gave off the worst vibes. Swung by here with our dog for an early dinner, as it is listed as pet-friendly. Of course, due to the Bronco's game we were told that wait staff couldn't cover the patio area/dog-friendly area, but we were welcome to order food and drinks from the bar inside and take it outside. No big deal. Our own fault for not remembering the game was happening. So, We go outside and soon realize there's no menu QR codes and the menu on their super poorly designed website didn't pull up on our phones. So, my husband went inside while I sat outside at the table with the dog. He asked the hostess if we could have ONE menu and he would return the menu when he went inside to order food and beer and you would've thought we asked for her first born. She refused to let us have a menu and was incredibly rude about it...and insisted that my husband stand there and look at it inside (she literally stood there and like watched over him as though he intended to steal the thing), go directly to the bar to order, and then I could come in separately to see the menu and order from the bar. Probably one of the weirdest experiences we have ever had at a dining establishment. Like, I understand needing to have wait staff focus on the area inside during a football game and we were perfectly willing to order at the bar ourselves...but the fact we were treated with such weird disrespect and suspicion was just really uncomfortable. We gave up and, as we were leaving, saw a guy walk in with a dog and, apparently, got seated somewhere inside with his dog without a problem. Food-Zero (0) stars. No kid is going to eat that kids pizza. It didn't even resemble pizza. The Shishitos are drowning in soy sauce. That's it, just wet, pooling soy sauce. Ordered two of the fish and chips and they came both over cooked and under done. Very inconsistent. Nothing special about their famous wings, I liked the Dunkel better than the hot sauce version.
