I had him do work at two if my properties and the finished product is excellent for both. Where we needed a roofer, Derrick had an excellent referral. When it made no sense to actually complete a scope of work, Derrick called to tell me it made no sense and that we should not proceed. Just as other reviewers note, Derrick is great to work with. I needed a patch of vinyl siding replaced around a newly installed back door. He was a good communicator throughout and made sure I understood all the ins and outs of my project; he really knows his stuff. My experience was like many other 5 star reviewers described - Derrick was friendly, punctual, and thorough. I researched a lot over 2 months obtaining 4 estimates from other highly rated gutter contractors from yelp and Angela's list. As with other reviewers, found that their pricing is competitive. Not the cheapest and not the most expensive. I saw it as, since I am spending this amount of money, I want to go with someone that not only does a good job, stands behind their work. What differentiated Derrick between the other contractors was how thorough and well he explained the work behind everything from why he chose the product he installs, placement of gutters, even colors. Other contractors would not go into that level of depth. They would just come by to give the estimate and leave. Some didn't even speak to me. Derrick personally performs a final walk through of every gutter job. Additionally I found that the dedication to customer satisfaction was the strongest above others. That in itself, is priceless in my opinion. THE WORK: Fantastic. They do not take shortcuts. They removed old metal rusting gutters from when the house was built in the 70's. It so happened work was done over a couple of days. They worked after dark, cleaned up very well before they left, and started on time the following day. Derrick even delivered on a favor he said that he would take down old unused cable's attached to the side of the house at no additional cost. The finished product looks amazing. Very solid work. The color I chose for some of the downspouts turned out to be darker than I expected. This was my poor decision. Derrick offered a reasonable price to change. I declined and decided to take care of it myself to save expenses. Derrick ended up surprising me and went out of his way to ensure I was happy. Derrick holds a high bar for his work and customer satisfaction. Boy I am glad I went with my gut. You will not be disappointed with Derrick's work. We needed a full replacement/renovation of the back half of our house and hired Pulse back in spring. It's a very old house with a mess of additions and building styles so it wasn't a simple job. I had a handful of quotes before starting and Pulse was on the higher end but not the most expensive. What sold me is that Derek (the owner) came out himself, spent more time than any of the other estimators actually looking at the house and getting an understanding of the job, and wasn't just there to drop off brochures like some of the bigger companies. He was on the job site just about every day doing a lot of the work himself so it didn't feel like I was just paying for a salesperson's commission. When the gable wall was uncovered it turned out there were three additions on three different planes, as well as some significant rot. The rot was fixed, a band board was added to disguise the bump out on the upper floor, and the right side was padded out with foam board insulation so all three sections looked like they were built at the same time. The roof decking the previous owners installed had too much overhang from the rafters, so they padded the fascia out with 1Xs before wrapping them and added a new drip edge so the gutters could actually function. I'm sure there are a lot of companies who would just throw up new vinyl and gutters over whatever was there and shrug it off since that's what they had to work with. Work on wonky old city houses is very different than new construction and not every contractor has the problem solving and design chops to handle it. I had put off replacing our siding because I have always had issues with contractors. I decided I've waited long enough I had to do it. I had several companies give estimates for our work. I took my time to decide who I wanted to work with. I am so happy I decided to go with Derrick and Pulse. Pulse wasn't the cheapest option and they weren't the most expensive either. I've come to realize you get what you pay for. Derrick explained the work to be done and materials he uses very thoroughly. I felt comfortable with Derrick and his no pressure approach. He lays out everything that can be done and leaves it up to the customer to decide. He didn't try to upsell everything. He was in constant contact (not in a pushy way) from the day of the estimate until the day the job was completed. The installer, Marcin, did an excellent job and was always respectful of our and our neighbors property. He came to work several days when it was over 100 as well as Saturdays. He showed up every day on time and worked late. One thing that stuck out to me was on the final day I had a brief discussion with him and he asked "how do you like it"..."I hope you like it". The last comment about I hope you like it really sums up everything about the attitude at Pulse. They really do care about their customers and work hard to make sure the work is done to the customers satisfaction. I am so happy with the decision to go with Pulse. Daily I have to look at the ridiculous slope on my rear gutter which has ruined the appearance of the rear of my house. The installers might have had good intentions when they "sloped" the gutter thar way but I only wish I had watched the installation so I could have protested then. Your response said that you had advised me to put in a downspout on the south west corner. There already is a downspout on the southwest corner. The back stairs on our 1920's bungalow were the originals and dangerously steep. My elderly mother could no longer safely navigate them so we were anxious to get them replaced and fast! I found Pulse Exterior on Yelp and was convinced to request a quote based on the great reviews. Derrick, the owner came out quickly to take measurements and talk about what we wanted. He was very empathetic about my mom's need for a safe set of stairs. A couple of days later he provided us with an estimate and while it was more than I originally thought the project would cost we decided to go ahead because we had confidence Derrick would do a good job. Usually I get three quotes for a job but I felt that would be a waste of time because I knew Derrick would do great work after talking with him. A week after Derrick first came out he and his guys were at my house and working hard. Luke, Tony and Derrick had a concrete pad poured on day one. Day two they demolished the old stairs and built new ones, including a landing flush with the door so my mom wouldn't have to step down right away as she left the house. Derrick had my mom's needs in mind throughout the entire project. The stairs are beautiful, solid and sturdy. I'm sure they will last decades!
