I had to move in a quick hurry - packing up 5 years and changing hoods seemed impossible. In fact, as I looked at my completely unpacked apartment the night before my move, I realized I might be in over my head... The guys arrived early. They'd arranged everything - street parking at my old and new places, boxes, the works. Granted I DID actually suck it up and pack most of my place in the wee hours before they got there, but the boys handled my 4 dozen stemware and every QVC/FoodNetwork appliance ever made like they were their own. The move came in 30% LESS than was quoted. They were that efficient, and that good. Didn't bat an eye at carrying my crap up 4 flights of stairs in my new place - as we frantically unpacked, they placed and perfected all of my furniture. These guys are top notch. They moved our two bedroom apartment from San Francisco down to South Bay and were the most professional and efficient moving crew I ever had to work with. Our house was on a really steep hill in San Francisco and these guys had to deal with a truck being at an angle. They were amazing. No single item was damaged during the move. My wife has a lot of fragile house decorations and none of them was damaged. The crew had four people instead of the promised three and they did not charge us extra for it. They had no attitude, were very well organized, communicated with me at all times about where stuff goes in our new house. They did not take a lot of breaks and even had lunch in the truck while driving to South Bay. Therefore the move was a couple of hours fast than my previous moves in the Bay area. Amazing movers! Super friendly, and they were extremely fast. Two weeks ago I was moving out from my apartment in the Richmond to a place in Twin Peaks. They arrived early, were friendly, and went straight to work. It was my first time using movers so I felt a little awkward just sitting there watching them take boxes and pack things. They barely took an hour; things were taped up, padded and packed into their truck. And it took just under another hour to unload. I was surprised by their speed. I was originally quoted 450, but due to it taking under the 3-hour limit, the lead guy only charged me half of the quote. They made my day, and the move oh so painless. Easy to communicate with ahead of time for a quote. The movers showed up on time and worked quickly. Jesse and his crew were friendly and professional. All of our boxes made the move and there was no damage. I don't really know what is customary, but we tipped each mover (we had a 4-man crew) $15 and provided Bob's Donuts, bottled waters and Cokes as a courtesy. Holy cow these guys did a fantastic job! I got "Wiliam's crew" and they rocked it. It took 5 guys 4 hours to do (almost as much as) what took a 4 person team 9 hours last time we moved. Serious variations in what you get when you hire movers! William's crew: fast, efficient, and most important to us, they were careful! We had absolutely no damages and boxes were (mostly) delivered to the right rooms. You could tell that they knew what they were doing. They had their systems down, knew how to communicate with one another. It was all very re-assuring as you watch your stuff get manhandled by strangers. I would use them over and over again. It was probably the best move I've ever had and I've moved way too many times for the amount of furniture that I have. Signing up with Puma Moving Company was hands-down one of the best decisions I made for our recent move. The other was using Bay Area Box Express for our moving supplies, but that's a different review. The excellent service started with Zena in the office, who was a pleasure to deal with throughout the negotiation/estimate process. We needed a parking permit for our move and she agreed to handle it for an extra $10 fee but it was well worth it to avoid the hassle of going down to the police station ourselves. She also helped us save money by figuring out that our destination site would not require a permit. We also saved 5% by moving on a Thursday and mentioning Yelp. Zena was also really helpful with all of our questions as we prepared for the move (should we unload file cabinets? dressers? wardrobe boxes?). She confirmed with us by email a few days before the move. On moving day everything went smoothly and could not have been better. The movers showed up 10 minutes early, introduced themselves, did a quick walk-through to see what needed to be moved, and then started moving our stuff while I handled the paperwork. I was stunned at how quickly they moved all of our boxes and how well they wrapped each piece of furniture. The whole job was finished in 3 hours with 4 movers, well under the 4-5 hour estimate for our 2bed/2bath flat. The movers were professional and focused while still having a very positive attitude throughout the move. During the move one piece of furniture was slightly damaged, but I was impressed by how well the movers handled the situation in a professional and empathetic manner. They could have easily argued with me about whose fault it was, but instead they took responsibility and made sure we came up with a very reasonable solution. Again, very professional and courteous- stuff happens, but they dealt with the situation in a positive manner. Overall, we had a very good experience with Puma and if I ever had to move again I would not hesitate to give them a call. I was very skeptical about a moving company ... but Puma was great! Not only did they accomodate my last minute scheduling (I called Monday to move Thursday), but the price was reasonable as well. I moved a one bedroom apartment about 1 mile within the city. They suggested 4 guys @ $170/hr. And they moved everything in just over two hours. They also charged a little bit for supplies and fuel, but it was worth every penny. These guys came through big time on a difficult move. My new apartment is at the top of a steep driveway. The landlord warned me that a full size moving truck wouldn't be able to make it up without bottoming out. I couldn't find a mover that would use a smaller truck without charging extra. Enter Puma. I emailed them photos of my stuff. They said they would need a regular size truck, but they would transfer it to a smaller truck at the new apartment to get it up the driveway. All at no extra charge. I move every year or two. I've seen a lot of different local moving companies, but none of them hustled like these guys. The whole move--a one bedroom apartment, with an elevator at the old place and stairs at the new one--took under three hours. I also liked they way they did the standard double time charge for transit between the pickup and delivery locations. Puma looked up the drive time and quoted a flat rate in their estimate. Moving out of a two bedroom apt. We were given a 3 hour minimum on the move with four guys and a 26 ft truck. Not because we have that much stuff but so the move would go easier. We were told about 4 hours to load apt and unload at storage a block away. Movers arrived at 8:45 and finished at 2:30. Had to do two separate trips to storage and at one point one team member walked away because the furniture was too heavy! Mind you it was mostly boxes, a few pieces of furniture and a 83" couch! At storage they just threw the items inside. They didn't stack anything so we ended up with 2 units! The arguments among the guys only got worse over the move. They aren't worth the headaches. Moves are hard enough without the additional antics. The Three Stooges could've done a better job. read more

I love those guys!! Professional and friendly movers! first they come and give us a written estimate with not to exceed price and a lists of all the costs that involved in our big moving date. Second puma people employee very friendly and high skills professional staff members, not only the movers were nice and friendly but even the office people (Dena??) provide first class service. The move went smooth, fast and efficient. As mention on Yelp before, the movers were very careful with our belonging and used blankets and bubble wrap to protect our furniture. Even so the estimate was pretty high compared to other, the total cost at the end of the move was much lower then the estimate. Moving to me has never been a cool experience, but these guys did a great job in packing, moving, and unloading my stuff to my new place in the same area...hard for me to leave the Mission. These guys knocked it out of the park for me! I was totally stressed out before my move. You know how it goes ... moving blows. Several days of not enough sleep and wondering if you're going to get everything packed, moved and cleaned on time... and the LAST thing you want to do is cart everything to another location (let alone unpack it all.) Well, Puma Moving came to the rescue. This was my first experience hiring movers, and I expected a logistical nightmare. But as soon as Vince, Emmet, Johnny, and Johnny arrived (yep, two Johnnys!) I knew I didn't have to worry. They showed up right on time, in good spirits and ready to roll on a Saturday morning at 8:30am. They double parked responsibly (you can pay the city to block off parking spaces if you are obsessed with following rules. Tickets are your responsibility if your move gets one, which makes sense.) I gave them the tour, Vince covered the charges and procedures with me again, and then they were off. I felt awkward ... in a really good way -- it was like I didn't even have to be there. So my advice to you is to just get out of their way while they work their magic. But they did of course ask questions as they arose. I felt like the guys were total pros, and they handled my stuff really carefully. BOOM. They were FAST. They offered to give me a ride to my new place but I had a friend. I thought that was awesome because as a single, non-car person, I had worried about asking friends to drive me over that early on a Saturday. We got to the new place and someone else was moving, so Vince had to negotiate with them a bit to secure a good place to park. (Note ... I didn't have to do that which was awesome.) They moved my stuff in like pros. Asked me where I wanted things and were generally super helpful. So awesome. I was so relieved. I will totally call Puma next time I move in the Bay Area! read more

Very smooth. That's really the best way to describe Vince and his crew (I got the 2 Johnnys). They were friendly, fast, efficient, and communicative which are really all the traits that I would look for in a move. I went from a shared 2 bedroom in South Beach to a studio in Lower Pac Heights, with a quick stop in Pac Heights to drop off 3 items. My former and current apartment have elevators and the stop in between did not (2nd floor). Overall, I'd say I did a decent job prepping with boxes, such that the crew didn't have to do much else besides take apart my bed, put my clothes in the wardrobe box, and pad the delicate stuff. With that said, the entire move took about 3.5-4 hours for just around $400 including the Yelp deal, but not including the tip I gave. Price wise, this hit it right on the nose with what I spoke to Zena about as well as what I was expecting. During the days leading up to the move, I also had way too many questions and stress for my own good, all of which Zena was able to talk me through very calmly. These guys are very experienced with moving within the city and I highly recommend them and will use them again! read more

It's been awhile since I've moved but because it's coming up on the anniversary of said move, thought I would drop the review now. These guys did a pack and move for me for a 1 br/ba. Communication throughout was excellent and I was surprised they were able to accommodate so quickly. Packing was super efficient (I had done NOTHING prior to these guys getting there) as was the move itself. Tim, Dan, and Jesse showed up EARLY to move my one bedroom from Oakland to San Francisco! They were organized, incredibly strong and efficient, kind, helpful with where to put items, funny, and handled everything with extreme care. They moved me in very little time: door to door in less than 4 hours. Also, when another company was trying to use our parking permits in SF, they handled the situation firmly but respectfully. Puma was great to me. I originally wanted a Saturday move for my 1 bedroom, but they said they were booked, so I went with Friday. A few days before the move they called and said they could do it Saturday afternoon due to a cancellation. The movers called and asked if they could come early (!) and arrived 3 hours early, with 3 men instead of two and were very professional, quick and efficient. They took great care of my stuff and really moved quickly. They even offered to let me ride in the cab over to Berkeley from SF. They unloaded and assembled my Ikea Bed in record time. I ran up against the 2.5 hour minimum, which was impressive. I took off one star because of the $130 extra fees for drive-time and some other fee. It made a $250 move a $380 move. I still tipped $100 because the movers themselves were fantastic. I definitely will use them again when I move again, but will just be more aware of cost! read more

I moved last Wednesday because my wife wanted an apartment closer to the Ocean, so we moved to Pacifica. I must say, Puma Moving gave us the convenience we needed. Prior booking with Puma we did our search, but we booked with them because my wife's sister recommended. The secretary, Zena, took our special requests into account, so the date of the estimate the person in charge knew before hand what were expecting from them. We were estimated for 6 hours, but we paid less than we were been estimated, so I saved myself an hour; pretty much I got the parking-permit fee for free, so it is very reasonable for the first time booking with Puma. The two crews that moved our stuff were very friendly and professional; they interacted well with my wife's decisions. We ordered online some moving supplies, and we got them on time to pack. We have some furniture that required special moving care, and they easily accommodate our request. read more

We moved a few weekends ago, myself from the Haight and my gf from the Castro. They got through my place in an hour, spent an hour at her place, and unpacked us in an hour in the Mission. So easy! They are super thorough in wrapping all your stuff, this takes the most amount of time, but these guys are working hard and fast. They even helped us with some furniture arranging with a smile! I had a great moving experience with Puma Moving Company. I was able to book a Saturday move just a week in advance after finding a deal for them on Yelp. They were incredibly efficient with my time, careful with everything I had to move, and generally excellent to work with. I was moving from Marin into a 1 bedroom in San Francisco and they completed the entire job in 3 hours and 15 minutes, which includes drive time. No damage was done to anything I moved, and they even helped set up my bed in my bedroom with no trouble. The only drawback was that they were late to the appointment, but called within the appointment window to let me know they would be late and explained what happened upon arrival. Cheong is clearly very good at his job, and his helper Dan did a great job too, both very nice and professional. I would hire again. read more

I had a great moving experience with Puma. These guys were machines. We had 4 guys show up and they were very fast. I was three flights down out of my old place and 2 flights up into my new, but they had NO complaints or grumblings. In fact, one guy saw it as a great workout...what a great attitude! I used the Yelp coupon and got a cash discount. They were careful, my table ended up getting slightly damaged from rubbing in think, but i cant confirm why or how. Wonderful service. Found out about this place via Unpakt.com (good for estimating inventory) Zena was wonderful over e-mail and on the phone up until the moving date. I had two guys who showed up early and ready to go. They know what they were doing and got the entire move done in ~3.5 hours, granted I have a one-bedroom's worth of stuff and have packed 80% of my stuff. I stupidly waited about a week and a half before moving to call movers. Everyone was booked through July. Finally I just did a search on Yelp and picked the first moving company that had the most stars. That was Puma. It was $140 an hour which is a bit higher than I'm used to, so I was a little wary. The guy on the phone said three guys would come between 8 and 9am. At 9am they called to say they were running late and would be there in 15 minutes. I was worried. Four guys showed up. They all introduced themselves, shook my hand, and LESS THAN THREE HOURS LATER we were saying goodbye. I wound up paying less than in the past due to there being four guys. They offered to move furniture around as much as I wanted until I was happy. Right when they arrived, I pointed to two black bags and said I'd carry those (laptop, passport, jewelry, etc.) but everything else was going on the truck. When we realized the black bags accidentally went on the truck, they got them out and apologized profusely. These guys were very careful with all my furniture. Nothing broke. I would absolutely use them again. read more

We just finished a huge move and this was the third time we used Puma. The other moves were small but these guys were great! In my experience, movers can usually do a great job the first time, but after that, they seem to be your average grumpy moving guys--not PUMA! [/Edited] Puma Moving moved me last Saturday, and I have to say on the whole they did a really great job. They were on time, friendly, packed things carefully, were on-time at the new location (my condo building has a strict move-in schedule since it's a new building with lots of people moving), and were finished early. Their manager checked in with me during the day, and on the whole it was a great experience. I'm giving them 4-stars instead of 5 because one of my lamps did get broken during the move (it could've just been that it was aging and not because of any packaging issue, but it did break on the truck), and there hasn't been any followup about it. Plus when I went back to my old condo, I saw they'd missed a bathroom completely (I'd left early and gone to the destination). Not a huge deal since there wasn't much in there, but just annoying. In general, I'd definitely recommend them, and their logo is pretty awesome, too! read more

This review is a long time coming. We moved a year ago with Puma Moving and had the absolute best experience. Our 'leader' was Eric, with helpers Jaime and Arthur. We moved from SF to Los Gatos. They were practically running, they moved so quickly and gave us wonderful value for our money. They were very careful with out items, not a scratch. They rearranged furniture when we were not quite decided on where to place them in the room without complaint. I cannot recommend this particular team of movers more. They deserve a raise! Puma moving recently moved me from a studio into a house. The guys arrived right on time and got to work. Will (the team leader) was great at organizing the whole thing. Exactly one hour from the minute they arrived, we were pulling away from the old house. At the new house it took a bit longer because of stairs, but everyone worked really fast and well. Nothing was broken. They even moved some stuff that was already at the new house to make room for the things coming in. I am very happy with Puma. This is the second time I've used them and I will definitely call them next time I move - which I hope is years from now, because I don't want to go through this moving thing again for a good long while!!! I had to move from San Francisco all the way out to San Ramon, and was dreading it. I also had this ridiculously heavy armoire that, in the past, even other moving companies have had trouble with. Mike D., Rocky and C.J. from Puma just blew away all of the expectations I had. They were quick, efficient, didn't damage a thing, and didn't even complain about the heavy armoire. When we opened it in Canada things came popping out as though spring-loaded! I love the teamwork and camaraderie they all showed -oh, and still have someone's ballcap that somehow ended up in the load lol! I can't stress enough how UNstressful this experience was - knew I was in great hands and wasn't disappointed -it was a super-stressful time for other reasons but this team made it a great experience! Our 6 guys showed up on time (in the rain!) and were quite efficient, professional, and careful. High value items like monitors were wrapped well and no items were damaged.
