We ate at this restaurant several times, including lunch and dinner. The chef is outstanding. Alejandro, our server is a gracious, knowledgeable and informative professional. His vibe, approach to his profession compliment the expertly prepared food served by this well thought out restaurant. After describing my taste in beer Alejandro recommended two that are my new favourite. We also described our seafood preference and surrendered our taste buds to his selections. We happily enjoyed one scallop, one clam and an octopus with beef dish, served with tortillas. These were cooked not cold dishes. We also tried a smaller version of the lobster pizza mentioned on many reviews. Recommended by a friend, location scrawled on a napkin - truly a gem to remember. As other reviewers have said, pleasantly hip decor, superb, discrete but attentive service. We had the Chaya pizza (see photo), and fish tacos. The wood oven is obviously run by a perfectionist. A couple kinds of bread arrive - good bread in Mexico!!!! How does that happen!!! - they are delicious and the salsas are truly to die for. A red one made from smoked chili moritas and a green one from chili seranos. I would love to train at the feet of their master salsa maker. My fish tacos came with a third salsa based upon the morita with a lot of lime. I should mention that before the meal began, the chef sent over a small metal cup of camarone broth. Again, knocks your socks off. So that's what we ate. Well.. we were sat down by the big stone oven that was VERY Hot and at a 4 person table with one of us in the path way of everyone. we were given drink and food menus. all waiters were just walking past us ....15 - 20 min later they asked us if we were ready .THEN before we can order thay said if we can move to another table. we said can we place our order first .....steak med- well, and shrimp pizza . then moved. 15 later they ask if we wanted drinks . So we ordered drinks ..DONT get House magarita you well be disappointed. drinks arrived and guacamole. 20 min later they came by and asked if we wanted something else besides just the pizza.... We said we had ordered the New York stake. 15 min later we got the pizza and the MEDIUM RARE pink stake . we were so hungry and not waiting another 15-20 minutes. A true treasure amongst our dining experiences in Mexico. We were blissfully surprised to find this gem. Perfect ambiance combo for what we were looking for... rustic interior, all open to enjoy the fresh outdoor air, overlooking town square and a view of the beach; a menu to fit your every mood- from simple or to divine. The great surprise was the wine. The owner, passionate about red wine himself, treated us to some bottles not on the list. He was ecstatic to meet and share with some fellow wine connoisseurs. We were so pleased with our experience we promised to go back again before end of our trip- and we did. The owner immediately recognized us, pulled us from the long line waiting for a table seated and served us himself. He brought out a Rioja that was tdf. On the drive from Cancun to Tulum we stopped here on a recommendation from our AirBNB host. And he was right - this place is amazing. The vibe is great, the service is great, the food is great. The guacamole was awesome and we shared grilled shrimp tacos which were delicious. But the flan dessert was what stuck out to me. Best mean we had during our trip; absolutely worth the 30 min drive from Cancun. I read about this place in a book that list the best restaurants in all of Mexico and glad we came. We loved every dish in particular the coconut filled with seafood and the lobster pasta. Food is "higher end" but place is not pretentious or expensive. As a bonus there's is a good chedraui supermarket 1/2 block away so we were able to get some supplies after dinner. Highly recommended. read more

This is my second review of Punta Corcho, still five stars. We were there last summer and then again in April. If you are in Puerto Morelos, or if you are close by, you've got to try this place. My advice is to ask the servers for recommendations. We went with every recommendation given and everything paired perfectly. I still enjoy the Mezcal trolley and the servers but the food it not as good as it used to be. The meal started with some metal cups of salty broth from the kitchen. We order a glass of white wine but the server is pushing for a bottle, it is cheaper to do. No! We will have red wine next! Three sauces, warm rolls and tostadas are served for the table. Dishes ordered were the green salad, seafood risotto, fish filete, tacos and the pork shank. I do not recommend the pork shank. The meat, sauce and presentation was just not good! The meat was tender, but tasted like reheated pork, ick. Risotto was just ok and too salty. Fish filete was good but the promised squash blossoms were not present in the dish. The tacos were eaten and I believe were fine. Our meal finished with mezcal. The server made recommendations and comped us a third shot to try. Served with worm salt and oranges but not in the cool gourds like they used to have. read more

On our first night, we tried the full baked fish (from their wood fired oven). Words cannot describe how delicious it was, and the presentation was also super. We were surprised by the interesting and varied menu. It was difficult to choose a cocktail from the lengthy cocktail menu. Decided on White Goddess, a fruity horchata-based drink and the Paloma Negra, a mezcal paloma. Both were excellent. Continued with oysters Rockefeller which were cooked in their wood fired oven and finished with a light green sauce and piece of chicharron on top. The main was a pulpo in adobo - perfectly cooked octopus in an adobo sauce and served with rice and the smallest tortillas I've come across. The food was outstanding! In a tourist town full of cheap pseudo-chic Mexican eateries trying to wrangle in the Americans and Canadians, this is an authentic upscale restaurant. I had a magnificent lobster and noodle dish that was tasty and not at all short of lobster. The wife had a seafood risotto that was also chock full of seafood likely fresh from the coast which you can see from the second floor dining area. The ambiance is set by house techno and a strong ocean breeze blowing across the restaurant under the grass palapa roof. The service was quick if you can order in Spanish, though others around us had various issues, mostly related to plate timing and the limited seating space. Don't show up at 8pm and expect to sit right down. The owner is all over making sure the dishes and service are right and the waiters speak english well enough.
