Even my puppy joined me on this culinary adventure, although we were unable to dine indoors. However, from the outside, the decor and color selection appeared to be well thought out and absolutely beautiful. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, this spot is ideal for everyone to enjoy. The staff here is incredibly friendly, and they made our order to perfection. The first bite was nothing short of amazing - the cheese was delicious, and the tasty sauce was a delight. But my personal favorite? The crust, and how delightfully thin the pizza was. It's safe to say that we are ecstatic to have a pizza spot so close to us, and I've been raving about this place to everyone I know. I can't wait to taste the rest of the menu and, when the weather warms up, take advantage of their outdoor seating. Pupatella in Arlington is a hidden gem for pizza lovers! The moment we bit into their pizza, we were transported back to the streets of Italy and the bustling pizzerias of New York City. The authenticity of their Neapolitan-style pies is truly remarkable. The casual atmosphere adds to the charm of this place, making it perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. Despite its laid-back vibe, Pupatella doesn't compromise on quality. Their brick oven pizzas are unique and bursting with flavor. We were particularly impressed by the perfect balance of a crispy yet chewy crust, topped with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The mozzarella balls are a must-try appetizer to complement your pizza. While it might be a bit pricey compared to your average pizza joint, the quality justifies the cost. The consistency in their pizza-making is noteworthy - it always comes out perfect. Pupatella is the place to get truly authentic Neapolitan pizza in this area. While there are some other contestants like 2 Amys, Pupatella cinches first place for me. The owner, Enzo Algarme, was born in Naples and grew up around pizzerias. I would highly recommend sitting at the counter and watching the staff cook the pizzas in the magic that is their brick oven. You know what you're seeing? Pizza being made in a brick oven that's built using volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius and shipped from Naples. Yeah, beat that 2 Amys. That means the quality of heat retention is higher and the oven gains a more even temperature. Their margherita pizza is awesome. If you are eating a margherita pizza and your pizza is not slightly wet in the middle, it's because you're not getting fresh mozzarella. Pupatella makes their margherita pizza with fresh buffalo mozzarella cheese, so yeah it'll look a bit "wet" in the middle. Go with it. I've also had their prosciutto arugula pizza and it was also really, really good. It's hard not to like any of their pizzas. The menu also boasts of some friggitoria, or fried food that's common in Naples. Pizza is delizioso. Try Pupatella for an authentic Neapolitan pizza experience. read more

OVER-RATED! Cafeteria style dining- no table service; only beer and cheap wine from open refrigerator like a Starbucks. You approach register/ order, pay for meal/ receive pager. Waited 40 minutes (Friday 5:45 PM). 2 pies (only personal size) w/ 3 topping- including cheese [which you are charged for as a toppping], and a salad for 2 = $36. Very cramp tight seating in hard plastic contemporary chairs or bench. Only about 10 tables or bar-tops w/ 30 seats for whole restaurant. Only about 6 parking spaces in front. Additional parking at nearby 7-Eleven or across Wilson Blvd at Safeway-- not an easy cross the busy roadway. Ingredients were good and they use wood fired brick oven. Bolth pies were undercooked... chef rushed all pies in/out to move the line of people. This may be ok place only slower night when food may be cooked better and you are not elbowed and hovered over while eating. Go to Facia Luna (Wilson / Garfield) for variety of food, better tasting food, atmospher, and price. Pupatellas is a quick fad. Don't waste your time. read more

Holy Moly! This place is the real deal. For the rookies and the newbies, there is a wait for your pizza. It may take 15 - 20 mins. depending on how busy it is. But believe me, you'll be in pizza heaven. it makes ordering delivery seem funny. And also it makes getting frozen pizza, even though it is more economic, not as delicious. I also like how they have some microbrews in the freezer. Always a good idea as you wait in line. Avoid busy weekend nights. Unless you have the whole night dedicated to them. Which honestly wouldn't be that bad of an idea. They have great combinations of pizzas done stye Napoli. All that's missing is a photo of the Napoli soccer team circa when Diego Maradona was the captain, to take me back to a famous pizza place of yesteryear. Incredible! Fantastic! And very pizzatastic! I have eaten lots of Pizza in my life. Probably more than any human really should. That's why i can say I am a fan of Pupatella. I've been excited for the chance to chance to come check out the pizza place for a while. Perhaps, I saw them on TV. Perhaps, I drove by the place. Either way, I was very at home, being inside. I went with my parents. And no one had complaints, because the pizza was mouth watering. Since the place does make a mean pizza pie, there was a long line. But the wait wasn't horrible. It is kid friendly which my parents loved :D And more than anything, we really were amazed by the great atmosphere. There's drinks in the cooler as you go and order. And seeing the bunson-burner shaped pizza oven is a joy. Lot of great pizza topping combinations. You'lll be very happy with your pizza choice. I still love the food here but tonight the "hostess" was incredibly rude. As always, it was crowded, even at 5:30. When we ordered and asked for table, she pointed us to a door in the back and said to find a table there...when we did so we discovered it was the outdoor patio, even though it was like 45 degrees out (it is enclosed in plastic and barely heated). I went back to ask about getting a table inside and when I began speaking to her, she literally did not even acknowledge my presence and walked away while I talking. When I asked why she was ignoring me, she said she was busy. I asked again if we could get a table inside, she snapped "so what do you want to do?" Since she was not at all helpful, we ultimately just sat outside, eating with our coats on. Not a very pleasant experience this time, unfortunately. read more

I was super excited about Pupatella after hearing so many raving reviews. But right away, the parking situation was a nightmare, and the ordering/seating situation was slightly confusing. We tried to go sit down while someone else in my group ordered and we got rudely told that that wasn't allowed. When asked if there was additional seating somewhere else (the dining room was completely full), the employee just pointed toward the back of the building. We eventually found that there was a back patio, and our food was delivered to us out there. Like I said, I was super excited about the food, and it was just okay. Nothing special, and definitely overpriced for what we got. It also came out slightly soggy and was hard to eat. Based on all of these great reviews, I'd love to try again, but not sure it's worth the money. read more

A big fan of this place for takeout, when I've dined in I've had a variety of experiences. The "order first" and wait to be seated method cab throw you for a loop. But first, the pizza. The pizza is really well done Neapolitan pizza with a good olive oil and tomato sauce. The cheese depends on the order, I much prefer the buffalo mozzarella, but overall they do an excellent job. The crust is thin with a bit of charring, but without the crispness. Overall, a delicious combination. The beer selection is slightly lacking, but you don't come to Puppatella for that. When I've gone to eat in, the wait time for pizza has really varied. From a ten minute wait to thirty plus, you have to be willing to wait for your pizza once seated. Overall, this place is worth trying in person, and even better when ordered for take out. read more

This is the best pizza place I've ever been to. The Diavola pizza is my favorite and every time we come up to the DC area my wife and I try to go here. They have a good variety of pizzas, but their red pizza sauce is so good I can't think of anything that could beat it. The crust is also very good and the brick oven gives it a nice flavor of its own. The staff is helpful, but this isn't a traditional sit down. The pizza doesn't take too long to come out either. Lastly, they have TVs that show the pizza making process so you have something to watch if you like to watch it being made! Terrible service. Wonderful food. My first time going to Pupatella, I was still getting oriented to the menu and the layout. (It's a "get in line, order first, get a number, seat yourself, food comes to you" kinda place.) But the servers were not particularly friendly. They seemed impatient and annoyed when I asked them questions. The food, on the other hand, was wonderful. Our group had several different pizzas and they were all delectable -- thin crust, crispy on the outside, warm and doughy on the inside, fresh toppings, fabulous cheeses. The reviews drew my husband and I here a few months ago. As a New York transplant, I have standards. Pupatella doesn't even meet the lowest rung. The crust wasn't "crispy;" it was burnt. The sauce was poured right out of a can. It had zero flavor. I didn't even see herbs in it. It was literally straight from the can opener and right onto the pizza. There was about three ounces of fresh mozzarella burnt onto the top. Our pizza was carelessly made, and rudely delivered to our table, by a waitress who clearly thought we weren't good enough for her incompetent service. Not sure where all the good reviews come from. I heard about this "place" through a mutual friend so I popped in a couple of days ago. Hands down one of the most expensive pizza places I have ever been to. when I stepped through the door and saw boys talking nonstop. I got the arancini with sausage, where do I begin the sausage was most the bland sausage I have ever tried in my life. The proportions did not really make sense for the sausage dish which involved mozzarella and peas. For dessert, I had the Nutella pizza which was fine. It's good, but not great. I like it, but if it's really busy, it's just too confusing about what you do after you've ordered. Do I go to the bar to get my drinks? Do I get my own silverware? It's on a table outside. And I see the servers taking it to some people, but not sure if I am supposed to get it because they look irritated when they get it. Do I bus my own table? Not sure. Do I stand in the bar area and stalk the people eating to snag their table or will the hostess tell us to sit there. Not sure. The pizza is sometimes soggy, sometimes great. Will I come back? Sure. Most pizza joints in DC stink; this place is a refreshing change. They know what they're doing. I enjoy their weekly specials, which often use atypical ingredients that you don't normally associate with pizza (e.g., butternut squash). Be prepared for unique toppings. Their pies have a very nice crusts, reminds a lot of the pizzas I've had in italy. I've been to this location of Pupatella a handful of times, and the pizza is consistently great. Highly recommend the meatball pie, the diavola, or margherita which is simple but you won't go wrong when all the variables are right. They do a really nice dough /crust, the amount of red sauce is just right, and consistently perfectly baked - real Neapolitan pizza. The ambiance is friendly and laid back, and its a local business. Thin grease-free crust combined with unique gourmet toppings. Eggplant is a must to try. Potato is my second favorite along with the various chicken ones. Look out for the 'specials' which are being cooked up daily and are not on the menu - a lot of times they are better than anything that's on it (though few rival the eggplant). My wife and I went on Saturday, the place was packed. It was a new environment that was made easy for us to understand right when we walked in. The customer service was great. We had questions and everyone was happy to help.
