Salmon toast & egg panini & decaf coffee with vanilla syrup

A café in a bookstore! A dream! Very yummy breakfast. The coffee was really good and I like that their syrups are made in house! Had an array of cookies too, wish I would have given them a try.

Paleo with egg, avocado, and tomato.

Their tuna salad sandwich is a work of art. The tuna salad is fresh and tasty with small portions lots of added ingredients. The lettuce is always fresh and green. The multigrain bread outstanding. They sell halves or wholes. I'm trying to cut back and only eat a half, but it's just impossible. And for dessert: get a well done Belgian waffle.

If you don't want to wait in a long line at Schat's Bakery, stop here. The sandwiches, salads and most importantly iced tea are great!

Friendly service with no-nonsense, but underwhelming dishes. Very low key premises, but nicely located in connection to a lovely bookstore.

Nice little cafe behind the bookstore. Limited seating area. People are friendly and the food is very good for breakfast or brunch.

Luckily for us ,it wasn't too crowded as we stopped by Thursday morning, so parking was great and lines were not too long. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with hundreds of packaged sweets and breads, what a paradise to those that love carbs. I ordered a turkey club sandwich and my wife ordered a BLT with avocado. Ofcourse, we also cannot leave without taking a few pastries with us :) My sandwich was delicious and not to heavy, the bread was fluffy, the turkey was thickly carved, the avocado was noticeably present and the tomato and lettuce were a nice touch, one side had mustard and the other mayo. I was pleasantly surprised and the sandwich did not disappoint. My wife's sandwich was identical but with bacon instead of. Turkey. As far as the pastries, they were good, they are very light and not to sweet, so if your looking for krispykreme, this is not it for you. Overall, I'm glad this place was recommended and will definitely go back whenever we take a drive back up north!

Their sweet and savory breads are generally tasty and fresh. Unfortunately, with our visit today, we purchased a blueberry pound cake and discovered mold when we opened it. It was disappointing esp since we had planned to eat it for breakfast next morning. Hoping this was just an isolated quality control issue

We travel through Bishop once or twice a year. We know the Schat's bakery gets all the love, but…read morethe Roadhouse?? Yes please!!! Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch on our journey home after a quick trip to Disneyland the day prior. It's a long drive, so Bishop is about halfway to home. We don't like traveling with leftovers, so we often share a meal. Yesterday was the Bluey Armstrong burger with a side of the garlic Parmesan fries. The burger was great! Juicy, cooked to perfection, and so flavorful. But the fries? For the love of all that's good those fries sent me on a trip straight to heaven. I wouldn't say I'm a fry snob, but I do know what I like, and these were possibly the best garlic parm fries I've ever had. So much so that I told my hubby I'd recommend going on a 6 hour girls' trip just for the fries. (My gal pals and I do weird trips for stuff like this.) Long story short(ish) stop here for food. You will be saying "get in my belly" with the only regret that it isn't closer to your home. Unless you live in Bisho, in which case you are a lucky person.

Aaron Schat's Roadhouse came up as the best suggestion and it did not disappoint! It was only 11am but we started with 2 pints of Coor's lol. Then we ordered 2 Shot Gun burgers and beer battered fries. They were so delicious! The burger patty was freshly made and the bun was a cheese type bun from their bakery. The fries were so crispy. 1 basket of fries would have been enough to share but we ordered 2 not knowing and force fed ourselves to finish it all lol. We will definitely add this to our bishop stop on future trips!
