We were talking with a very funny and kind man in the morning and as we were talking to him another lady walked in the man explained that we wanted the husky and was just waiting on the certificate so the lady went out of her way to go pick it up then and there and we got to bring home our little baby who we love so much!! Just got my puppy (Boston terrier) a few days ago from here and she has been the absolute sweetest dream come true. She was checked out by my vet, and is completely healthy. She came with 2 rounds of shots already and all of her papers. The staff was great too and I was able to tell that that really love their puppies. The only negative is that they are located in a mall. So if you're doing your back to school shopping, stay away or you will be tempted to bring one of these angels home with you just like I did! read more

I have been a dog owner for the last 13 years with a rescue dog who was 2 years old when he was adopted. When he passed this year, I knew it was time to look for a new dog. Upon all my research with breeders and the humane society, I found Puppy Avenue. I have always heard the scary tales of adopting a pet from a pet store. Rest assure I went into this with my doubts. I ended up emailing them and calling about a 3-month-old beagle female. She is a teacup beagle, and she is amazing. They provided her papers of who her parents are and family line, a copy of all her vaccinations up to the point of her adoption, as well as food and other stuff. We got to play for a bit, and could have played longer, but I knew I knew she was going to go home with me. I scheduled a vet checkup for her within the first week and we did a full physical, fecal, and blood work on her. She is perfectly healthy. I would and had been recommending Puppy Avenue to people who have meet my dog (her brother was with them, but I don't see him on the site anymore, I would believe he was adopted too.) These dogs are not in cages, they are in big playpens in the back of the store front. She was in her pen with her brother and another dog. It is nice to know they are not caged. The pricing of her was not horrible, it was in the same range as anyone would go to a breeder for a beagle. I would highly recommend this store if you are currently looking for a new fur baby. My little beagle is a dream come true, she is smart, funny, and loves to cuddle. They treat their puppies at Puppy Avenue right! The staff was great with, they explained everything as you are signing off on the adoption forms. As stated, they will let you play with the puppy, I brought treats with me, and one of the staffs big golden (SUPER FRIENDLY) was hanging out with us. Hand sanitizer is also available for your use before and after handling the pup. Hubby and I absolutely fell in love with a St. Bernard pup when we were there the other day. I need another Service Dog and one of the breed we have been considering is the St. Bernard. He was just the cutest, friendliest, sweetest thing ever! My husband and I bought her from a pet store in Jacksonville Florida called Puppy Avenue on February 27. Nine days later, on March 7th, she sadly passed away from pneumonia. She was only 3 months old. The day after we brought her home, we took her to Ark Animal Hospital, the vet that Puppy Avenue recommended in order to receive a free health check for Lucy. We found out that Lucy had kennel cough and giardia, both in which we received medication to treat her. We immediately tried to contact Puppy Avenue to inform them that they sold a very sick puppy to us. We explained that we took the puppy to another Vet and that vet said the puppy was unfit for sale. After several attempts to contact the store, we talked to the store manager who said they would pay for half the first veterinary bill. We promptly declined to accept that as Lucy was still in the hospital. We told them we would be in touch with more information about the puppy and bills. We were reminded that we signed a waiver saying no refunds or reimbursement for veterinary bills. We explained that we wanted to keep Lucy but expected them to pay the veterinary bills based on the FL Pet Lemon Law. We tried to call several times and asked for the owner. We were able to talk to the store manager once but after that she was either off or had just left. The owner never even tried to contact us. On Saturday, March 7th, after having and lovingly caring for her at our home for two days, she took her last breath while I held her in my arms. This puppy (Little Lucy) was supposed to bring joy and happiness to our family, instead we had to watch this poor puppy die in our arms because we were sold an unfit puppy. We never asked for all this, we just wanted a puppy. We share this story because we want justice for Lucy. We don't want another family to have to go through what we went through. We don't want another family to buy a sick puppy from Puppy Avenue, and have them sit back and completely ignore all your emails and calls and do nothing to make this right. read more

**CAUTION TO POTENTIAL BUYERS** My family purchased a puppy after 4pm on 12/24/2020 from Puppy Avenue in the Avenues Mall. Having been pet owners for 30+ years, we provided access to fresh water and only served the food recommended by the seller. Our sweet pup was provided a warm bed, a crate and love and attention from a family that has always had healthy pets. On 12/26 we called the vet referred by the seller (Ark Animal Hospital) during their normal business hours to set up our follow up visit per the paperwork and instructions. No one answered so I left a voicemail requesting a return call. No one called back. On 12/26 mid day our pup began showing signs of illness. She began vomiting and having diarrhea. On 12/27 her condition worsened as the symptoms continued but she no longer showed interest in eating. By 12/28 her vomiting and diarrhea continued with added fatigue, loss of appetite and no interest in water though we tried to keep her hydrated. We called Ark Animal Hospital again - this time we were able to get an appointment but not until what they described as their "first available" at 4pm. This was despite describing the severity of her condition. 12/28 4pm: we arrived at the vet. They looked at Josie (from our lap) and the stool sample we brought in and after an antibody test they determined she had Giardia. Despite the fact that tapeworms were obviously present in her fecal sample, they did not mention or diagnose that as a problem. They did not do a parvo test. They chastised us for waiting until 4pm to bring her in though we had called two days earlier with no returned phone call and were clear about her condition when they gave us their first available appointment time at 4pm. The staff were rude, demonstrated incompetence and showed partiality towards the seller (Puppy Avenue) as though they represent their interests instead of the dog or pet owner. On 12/29 - we were able to call another local vet and bring our pup in immediately in the morning. They took her back to see the vet as soon as we arrived. The staff were friendly, caring, competent, direct and showed bias towards providing the best care for the dog. They ran multiple tests including parvo and found that our pup which we have barely had for 5 days had: tapeworm, Giardia AND Parvo. The vet said "they sold you a very very sick dog". They admitted Josie to the hospital where she stayed overnight for treatment which included: an anti nausea shot, IV fluids and antibiotics, de-worming, continued medication to treat the Giardia and supportive care as her little body tries to fight multiple parasitic and viral infections. She was given a 50/50 or less chance of survival. We have contacted Puppy Avenue multiple times with no response. In addition to this post, I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau. I fully understand our rights under Florida Statute 828.29 and am in touch with the FDACS. Note: Parvo is highly contagious and deadly. Since we have good reason and evidence suggesting our dog had parvo before we purchase her, every dog in Puppy Avenue likely has it. It would also make them an unfit environment to have puppies for at least 12 months. Please be aware that this appears to be a business who values profit more than the health and wellbeing of an innocent puppy or the emotional well being of a family who elects for care for an animal. There are multiple bad reviews for both Puppy Avenue and Ark Animal Hospital as well as multiple complaints filed on the Better Business Bureau. The same day I contacted the Pet Store and alerted them about the contagious Virus. The owner or manager were not there so I called back later that day and got to talk with the owner Mr. Bame. He belligerently said, "I've heard all about it. My dogs do not have parvo and the snap test that the Vet's used is inaccurate." The puppy was treated in the Hospital for 5 days. I brought him home and 2 hours later he died. The only contact I've had is with the very kind pet store manager. I did get a refund for the sale of the puppy. The store refuses to pay for any of my Vet Bills. Florida Pet Lemon Law 828.29 and their guarantee states that they are responsible to pay up to the purchase price of the puppy. Where is their integrity to follow the law and uphold their guarantee. Our hearts are broken and I hope and pray this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

I will say one of my favorite things about this place was the use of their Facebook page. When my fiance and i were looking for a dog, we had such a hard time. I was new to owning a dog and wanted to start with a smaller dog. I was looking on the web and stumbled onto Puppy Avenue's FB where I found pictures of all the dogs they presently had. Scrolling through them, I stopped at this adorable puppy with the droopy eyes of a hound. He was a 4 month old Bassugg. (Basset Hound and Pug) I was in love. I showed Jimmy and he said to call and see if he was available. HE WAS! They quoted a price and said to come in and see him. I stopped by the next day on my lunch and fell head over heals for this puppy. I was so nervous but just knew that he was going to be ours. We adopted him the next day. Everything went very smoothly. He had been in the store for almost a month so they gave us a generous discount on him and included a crate, collar and leash. They were very thorough with their paperwork and payment process. They want to make sure these puppies are going to good homes. We also had a free bet visit included (for the Ark animal hospital where I did a review and was Not impressed but at least we didn't pay for the first visit) They offer that if the puppy gets sick within a period of time after the purchase, they will pay the vet bills. My sister took advanage of this with their second puppy the adopted from here 2 years ago. For her that was the highlight of her experience because it saved her puppies life (poor thing had pneumonia) and helped save the cost of the vet bill. I know that people can have a negative opinion about pet stores just because they say there are so many other dogs out their that can be adopted. Well my Sherlock was in this store and needed to be adopted just the same as any other puppy out there. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm glad we found Sherlock at Puppy Avenue. read more

I got my baby from Puppy Avenue about a year ago and as soon as I took him home I noticed that he would not eat, play, drink, and was lethargic. I took him to Arc Animal Hospital (I was given 1 free vet visit to this clinic ONLY within 3 days of the purchase of my puppy) the next morning and the veterinarian was extremely rude and told me that there is a high chance that my puppy may die. She also refused to test him for parvo. I took my baby out of that HORRIBLE veterinary office and took him to the emergency animal hospital in Jax Beach. He was there for 2.5 DAYS receiving numerous IV's. He had a horrible infection that his body was not able to fight off. He tested negative for parvo; however, the vet treated him like he did have parvo due to the severity of his sickness. He did survive (THANK GOD) but it was a true miracle. DO NOT BUY PUPPIES FROM THIS PLACE... they sell sick puppies and hide any previous medical history or procedures done before purchase. We bought our dog, Winchester (a Cavalier) from Puppy Avenue, and he died when he was only 1, due to a genetic illness. He never weighed more than 9 pounds no matter what we did, and he was constantly in and out of the vet because of mucous build up in his lungs. My husband worked at a vet, so he had 24/7 professional care, and he still died at a year old. On top of that, shortly after getting him, our vet found a scar on his tummy from what she guessed was a surgery to fix a hernia that he had when he was a young puppy... normal she said, but what disturbed her and all of us was the fact that none of this was recorded on his medical information that Puppy Avenue gave us. We spent thousands of dollars in his care to try and make him better, not to mention experiencing terrible heartbreak when our baby died so young. After he died we contacted the owner, which was just an absolute waste of time and breath, because he refused to do anything. All we asked was that if he couldn't compensate us for the sale price of our dog, he could at least help cover some of the medical bills that we had countless of from Winchester. Even our vet wrote a personal letter to the owner because she was so disturbed that he would a.) even sell a dog that was so obviously sick, and b.) that he refused to give any kind of compensation. It's been two years now and we haven't gotten back a penny, and the owner has completely written us off. To sum up, this place is extremely shady in regards to hiding their puppies' medical histories, and the owner is a scam artist who will do absolutely nothing when the sick dogs that he sells you (at exorbitant prices no less!) die when they are only babies. We've gotten 2 dogs here and both of them have had a lot of issues. Our husky ended up having his testicles tangled inside and had to have abdominal surgery to have them removed. Our Shiba Inu had an underbite (that they assured would not be an issue in the future) but we had to pay $1400 to have his upper teeth removed because they were caused bleeding and discomfort on his bottom jaw with the way it was aligned. This guy doesnt care about the dogs he gets and is only looking to make profit. DO NOT BUY A DOG HERE!!!!! I am appalled. I sent them several messages asking for a response and hoping they were going to pay to get this dog healthy. That did not happen. The vet did not find any health problem with our puppy 3 days after our purchase so we are rest assure puppy avenue is a good place. Puppy avenue also kept up to date with the puppies shots and physical every Wednesday so that was great to hear. Unlike when you are buying a puppy from a breeder or from craiglist, they may not reasure you of this. Even if the price of our puppy was a bit in the higher end than we hoped, I think this is a great place to look for a new companion. They are also very up to date on their facebook page. We were so excited when we got him and immediately fell in love with him. So we bought him and took him home with us, and he truly became a member of our new family. However, from the moment we got him home he was constantly coughing. I have worked at a veterinarian for the past four years though and didn't think too much of it because I expected it to just be your normal case of kennel cough. However after getting him checked it turns out that he had pneumonia. My vet tried many different medications, she tried flushing the fluid out of his lungs, and many different things that left us with two thousand dollars in medical bills in an attempt to help our poor puppy finally be able to breathe normally. Unfortunately NOTHING worked. My vet and I believed he had a congenital decease that make it where he could not expel the liquid that was building in his lungs. His condition continued to worsen and worsen, until he eventually got to the point where he could barley breath, eat, or even walk. I woke up one morning to him hardly breathing. I immediately took him to the vet and he was in a oxygen tank all day which I was told was the only thing keeping him alive. After much consultation with my vet he realized that he was not going to be able to get any better, and we realized we would have to put him down. He was not even one year old! My wife and I were devastated. He was our baby and we tried everything we could to help him. But because of what we are sure is a congenital defect that he was sold to us with, he never had a chance. I searched for the perfect puppy and I finally found him at Puppy Avenue. The sales person Allison was very nice and attentive. As a courtesy, they offer a free Vet visit within the first 3 days to their Vet clinic. I took my puppy within the 3 days and the Vet diagnosed him with Kennel Cough and a bacteria growing in his ears. She was able to flush the bacteria from his ears and she prescribe medicine for the Kennel Cough. 6 days later, he has pneumonia and blood in his stool. I called the store to let them know the dog was purchased sick. The owner Doug Bame, who called himself a man of God, proceeded to call me stupid and ignorant because I believed the puppy was sold sick. It is unfortunate to say an adult would act is such a crass, rude and vulgar manner towards a customer who dropped $1350.00 at his store. The owner does not deserve to care for pets when apparently he does not know how to speak to humans. Mr. Doug Bame, you are stupid and ignorant! Because of people like you, laws are made to protect consumers. There is a Pet Lemon Law in the state of Florida. Understanding Florida's Pet Purchaser Protection Laws: Florida's Pet Sale Provisions law states that a pet dealer may not knowingly misrepresent the breed, sex or health of any dog sold within the state. If I could put 0 stars I would. THIS PLACE IS A DISGUSTING SCAM. I would do everything in my power to have this place shut down. My boyfriend and I bought a puppy from here on June 29th, a 9 week old beautiful baby girl, the vet that they sent us to is ark animal hospital, they told us we get our first check up for free there but you have to go within 3 days of purchasing your puppy for it to be free... when we first brought our puppy home we noticed she felt super warm, warm nose, warm paws, warm ears, felt like a fever. She also had a super runny nose and was sneezing, we took our concerns with us to ark animal hospital 2 days later, we met with Dr. Maxwell and let me just start off by saying she was horrible. So rude, made my boyfriend and I feel dumb for any question we had, her manners are terrible. We told her our concerns and had to bring a poop sample as well, she told us our puppy had no fever, the runny nose was normal and probably from sniffing dirt.. and that her poop sample was perfect and had no worms (which let me add she took our puppy into a different room to do testing which I thought was odd and give her a deworming shot), told us she was a very healthy puppy. 2 days after that visit our puppy got very sick, throwing up, still felt hot, diarrhea, running nose, sneezing, coughing, and over all looked in pain. We took her to a different animal hospital just to find out she has parvo and also tons of round worms in her poop. Our baby puppy has now been hospitalized for the past 2 days fighting for her life, and us with 2,000 dollars worth of vet bills. I came onto yelp and noticed so many other people commenting on buying puppies with parvo from puppy avenue. It is a scam and so is ark animal hospital, they are working together to scam you of your money and abuse these poor dogs. read more

Whenever going into a puppy store I am very weary. I don't want dogs that comes from a puppy mill or dogs that might be sick. Going to Puppy Avenue outs all those thoughts ans concerns away. I go there about twice a week, I know thats alot but there is a dog there I am intrested in. Every time I have been there the place has always been clean. I have been there all sorts of times, as soon as they open to right before they close, busy times and slow times and I have only seen poop in a cage once and they cleaned it up right away. The staff is super friendly and always wants to help. The dogs always look in good health. read more

The dogs were in cages and were covered in dog poop some of the big puppy's were in little cages and the workers were doing nothing and sitting on the cages they didn't take care of them and the puppy's cages were not clean at all and the workers were very rude and only sat on their asses all day not cleaning the cages or anything read more

I truthfully am against all puppy stores but this one I don't like specifically! I have been a vet tech and worked with dogs over 6 years. I came in with a friend who wanted a puppy and noticed one of the pups had diarrhea. I told the owner and lady working there that they should get the puppy looked at because she seemed sickly and I was told that the lady working there had raised squirrels so he trusted her opinion....I'm sorry, what? Aside from that, they keep a very large Saint Bernard in that tiny store all day long! He has a tiny cage he knows how to open and close so that he isn't confined to a cage all day but the store is tiny and crowded, the walkways are barely large enough for people to pass each other let alone a Saint Bernard spending every day there! read more
