BEST QUESADILLAS ON OAHU!!! I arrived here just after they opened so it was not busy at all. However, they are a very popular food truck on the North Shore so it can get very busy at certain times. I ordered the kalua pig nachos. They were very, very delicious. The portion sizes are great and the price is very reasonable for the great quality that they provide. The only place I eat on the North Shore. Favorites: Acaii Bowl, Chicken Doner, Ahi Basil/Havarti Buger. Yeww! I have very high expectations when adventuring for food and have ordered here 5 or 6 times, all different specialty items, and have never left unsatisfied. The staff could be friendlier, not much Aloha spirit here. Being busy is no excuse to compromise quality service even when ordering to cashier. Oh my, so delicious! We were on our way back from the North Shore and intended to go to one of the ever-popular shrimp trucks, but after seeing the traffic opted for something closer - Pupukea Grill did not disappoint and I'm so glad we went! Staff was very friendly and food was scrumptious. I got the ahi taco plate with fresh warm tortillas, black beans and rice, and ate every last bite. We had the ahi loco moco, bbq pork quesadilla, and the shrimp tempura and crab hand rolls. All were amazingly good. Couple of tips, the quesadillas are huge and can be easily shared as can the ahi loco moco plate. The hand rolls are also very large and can be shared. It's one of the top picks when recommending places to out of town guests etc. The service is always on point, the girls that work in the truck are ALWAYS so sweet and quick! Poke Bowl: Always a winner and a must when visiting Hawaii. Quinoa Poke Salad: If you want something light but filling this is also a winner! We ordered a tomato, mozzarella and basil panini. Everything about it sucked! The bread was that fluffy white flavorless grocery store "french" loaf....the cheese and tomatoes were equally lame and lacking flavor. The panini came with a side of pita chips (actually they were crumbs from the bottom of the Costco pita chip bag) topped with a swirl of "hummus" that looked more like my puppy's backyard deposit. While spending a day at the North Shore snorkeling at Shark's cove, I had my first experience with Pupukea Grill. I feasted on the Shoyou chicken and the quesadillas, both of which were to die for. The food was fresh, delicious, flavorful and filling. The staff was friendly and willing to help. My second encounter with Pupukea proved just as fulfilling. I had the quesadillas and the mahi mahi bowl. The mahi mahi was covered in a mango salsa, which was creative and delicious. It gave the fish a zest that shook my senses. Although I have only visited this most delectable of food trucks once, I will forever be a customer. Every trip I make back to Hawaii will include this quaint food stand. read more

Pupukea Grill was hands down the best food I had while visiting Hawaii this summer. I was able to go there only twice, but I dream of going back because of their amazing and healthy, fresh food choices. The Mahi Mahi, Shoyu Chicken, and Quesadillas are absolutely to die for. The Mahi Mahi bowl had a fresh mango salsa that was excellent. I cannot say enough good things about this food stand. Also, the prices are very economically, especially for the quality of food. I had the chance to eat at dozens of different restaurants in Hawaii, but Pupukea took the cake. The shave ice is also a good choice for dessert. The second time I visited this truck, me and my friend Sara were stranded at the North Shore, because we were traveling by bus, but were happy to be near the Pupukea Grill. They made delicous food, and helped us pass the time while we waited for the bus. The truck is located seconds from the bus stop, so it is easy access for those who do not have a car. This food stand is a must when traveling to the beautiful, scenic north shore!!! read more
