Beetle Leaf Wrapped Beef, Sugarcane wrapped with Shrimp
    Lindsey D.

Had a morning tennis match and came in for a quick bite before work. Beef stew noodles 12.95 Nice chunks of beef shank, soup was rich. Beetle Leaf wrapped beef, Fried Shrimp wrapped over sugarcane 14.95 Thought this was a side, it was actually an entree, 3 pieces of beef and 3 pieces of fried shrimp on a bed of salad and vermicelli. Overall, everything was fresh and tasty and I wasn't thirsty post meal. 3.5/5 There is allot of competition for Pho in Vancouver. For the area, it's tasty eats.

If you want a spicy banh mi, you'll get one of the spiciest banh mi in town if you get the banh mi with siracha and peppers. If you the traditional banh mi (what they call special vietnamese ham), it's solid. Other dishes can be hit or miss. Lemongrass dishes are decent. Bun bo hue (called hue's spicy beef soup on the menu) is incredibly bland. Service seems quick and prices are pretty standard for the neighborhood.

One line review: Good food, uneven service. Took one of my staff here for lunch during an all day staff meeting. We had: -Chicken and spring roll vermicelli - Beef, shrimp, and pork sausage vermicelli The food was tasty. It was a slightly smaller portion than expected. I still got plenty to eat, but there were no leftovers (not like usual for me). Service was mediocre; we were ignored a couple of times, and the server seemed kind of unfriendly. He was busy, but... If I were breaking it down, I would give 4 for the food, 2 for the service. To be fair, I have had better service in this same restaurant, so it really is better sometimes. Bottom line: I still like this place and will continue to return here on occasion. I have always enjoyed the food; the service varies.

    Iced Coconut Drink

Really solid food at good value. I had the vegan Tropical Rice Dish: salad, lotus veggies, tofu, and spring roll with rice. The inclusion of the spring roll was what made me decide to get this particular item, and I'm really glad I did because this was one of the best spring rolls I've had. I'm not sure what they used as a meat substitute in the filling but it was delicious - it had a rich but not meaty flavour and gave the filling a hearty, chewy texture, and the wrapper was perfectly crispy. The tofu and lotus pieces were also tasty and cooked perfectly. The salad was very fresh. Even the plain rice was fantastic: there was nothing "special" about this, they just managed to get everything just right. The portion size was just right for me: I left feeling satisfied but not overly full. I also had the Iced Coconut Drink (coconut water and/or juice with pieces of coconut meat) and thought it was good - sweet but pleasant flavour and a lot of coconut meat, but not so much that it took away from the "drink" part of the drink. The only downside was that it took a really long time for us to get our food after ordering. I wasn't watching the clock, so I'm not sure of the exact time, but it was an unusually long wait considering the restaurant had only a modest crowd eating in and the flow of takeout was also pretty mild. Aside from the wait, the service was very polite, and the waitress did stop by to let us know our food was still in progress after we'd waited for a while. I liked the unpretentious atmosphere. It's nice to see they have so many vegan dishes, and I'd definitely go back to try more on occasion, but the wait time (if it's consistently this long) would prevent me from making myself a regular here.

    Lemongrass tofu salad rolls (vegan)

I'm not usually on this side of town, but after seeing their extensive vegan menu, we decided to grab take-out for lunch. My wife split the lemongrass tofu salad rolls ($6.95 plus tax) and each got the spicy noodle soup ($11.95 plus tax). The order was ready in ~10 mins. The salad rolls were very tasty, with nicely seasoned tofu and a well-done peanut sauce. Nothing extraordinary here, but these were definitely solid. 4/5 The soups were very plentiful: large serving of noodles, mixed veggies, and tofu, with the usual toppings (sprouts, lime, basil). The broth was very tasty and comes in a generous portion, being gently spicy, but on the pretty mild side as far as pho goes (even for a spicy version). These certainly left us quite full. Enjoyable. 4/5 I'd definitely return if on the far west side again. I might try their other noodle soups (the vegan crab and tomato, and the vegan curry & vermicelli noodle soups both look interesting). Reasonably priced, generous portion, and very tasty. Recommended for a west-side vegan Vietnamese option.

My first visit. Guy sitting outside said it's his regular spot and food is great. I ordered 2 prawn slad rolls and lemongrass beef for take out. Got home and the salad rolls were completely different sizes, I tried to eat them and the rice wrapper was so hard in places that I had to spit it out. They seemed old and not freshly made. There was a 1 smelly prawn in each and just noodles and lettuce. I have made better at home. The other dis was ok, nothing spectacular, did nt have any lemon grass flavour. B.t.w my food looked nothing like the peoles eating at the this place. Left a message, someone called back and kept saying ok, ok, when I said are you listening....hung up on me. Very dissapointing. I definately would not go back.

A good Pho joint doesn't need to be complicated. Just have really good soup, a few extras, and a humble atmosphere This place hits it out of the park in all those important parameters. Soup is Awesome, with excellent broth, and yummy everything else They have an awesome pork broth that I don't get in many other places, and they also serve a really good satay, and it's a really cozy place I feel comfortable stuffing myself, talking loud, or not talking at all, and not worrying that my little boy is making a mess.

I've visited twice--once for a weekday lunch and again for weekend brunch to celebrate completing my doctorate. During my first visit, I ordered the burger, which was juicy, flavourful, and exceeded my expectations. On my second visit, we both ordered the eggs Benedict, and they were just as impressive. I'm glad I had the chance to experience both the lunch and brunch menus. The space itself is one of the restaurant's strengths. I love the open-concept design, the clean and contemporary interior, and the inviting patio, which would be perfect on a sunny day. Unfortunately, the service was inconsistent. My first visit was perfectly fine, but during brunch the service fell short. It took an unusually long time to receive our bill, and throughout the meal it felt like our table was largely forgotten. Eventually, we had to flag down another server for assistance. To make matters more confusing, our original server brought the cheque only after we had already paid through the other staff member. While the service could definitely be more attentive, the excellent food, pleasant atmosphere, and reasonable prices are enough to make me want to return. I hope the service becomes more consistent because this restaurant has all the ingredients to be a standout dining destination.

We shared a few plates and grabbed a couple of their drinks as well. I went with the anchovy toast and tuna tostada. Both were delicious but the anchovy toast was my personal favorite. Salty, rich, and super savory, but balanced enough that you keep going back for another bite. The tuna tostada was light, fresh, and sitting on a crisp base that gave it that addictive crunch.

We found this as our initial destination had an absurd wait, and we left satisfied and pleasantly surprised. I saw pics online of what appeared to be large, juicy, and crispy fried chicken sandwiches sporting local hot sauces as the secret ingredients, and that's what brought us in. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with the Hot Duck chili crisp on it. Upon the bartenders rec we opted for the extra hot, which was a good call because it didn't really pack a punch to us chili heads, but had great flavor. The chicken was juicy and crispy, and the brioche bun was so soft and fluffy. All around a good sandwich, but we found it strange that they only offered it with chips, and no upgrade to fries, which were available as an add on order. As we ate our sandwich and waffle fries we realized there was no smell of oil in the air or sounds of a fryer, which had us scratching our heads. We looked for a hood too and noticed none. Eventually we realized that everything here is commercially air fried, which was both fun to learn and somewhat surprising. If this place had a fryer, it would be SO much better, but considering this limitation, it was solid. The sauce selection was huge too. I loved that you could taste them all and that they offered some amazing deals too. We found a few that warranted us checking a bag on the way back so we could enjoy them on the other side of the border, and I'm stoked they offer online ordering and shipping so we can get some more when they run out. All in all a solid experience. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. As a hot sauce store, this is a 5 star experience, as a restaurant, also good but just have the right expectations.

I don't know how they do it but it's incredibly affordable and the quality of food is impressive! I got their Veggies on Fire (Cheddar, lettuce, sprouts, tomato, cucumber, green pepper, pickles, red onion, banana peppers, Dijon, spicy mayo - Hot Sauce: Dawson's Shawarma). This was $8. Plus I added waffle fries, which I don't even care for. But these were heavily seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sandwiches come with chips but you can't miss the fries. You can choose which breads you want and I choose sourdough. Highly recommend that you toast that bread. The sandwich was huge and staked with so many veggies. The hot sauce was very mild but paired so well. The service was phenomenal! Above and beyond and so friendly. The place gets quite busy, understandable, and they are still so patient and friendly. I can't wait to try their extensive menu and order their veggie friendly menu options! And, obvy, their 1000 hot sauces!

There are some small tables for two along with high tables. I ordered the 'hot' sandwich, chicken parm. I was expecting crispy chicken parm with yummy cheese and rich tomatoe sauce. Let's be honest, the star of this show is the bread! The baguette was warm, soft and so delicious. However, that's where the excitement stopped for me. The chicken with breading was soggy and the pesto and mozzarella was such a small amount, it felt like a soggy chicken sandwich with lots of bread. If they put more pesto dressing, more mozzarella cheese and more tomatoe sauce, I could have looked past the soggy chicken. All in all, I'm glad it tried it, the bread is amazing, and I'll come back to try a 'cold' sandwich to see if the other options are better!
