I booked a a massage and literally left midway through it because I got stressed out from how bad the massage was then when I left they refused to wave the charge for the facial appointment and considered that I canceled. Best facial ever! Tori is awesome. She is not only super talented but sweet. She went above and beyond to accommodate my crazy skin issues but she also really helped me with knowing what I can do to help my skin look better. I did the hydro facial - it was a gift from a family remember for my husband and is 25th anniversary and it was so special. We had such a good time! The spa is really made to relax. Also the entire staff is awesome! They really went out of their way to accommodate us and questions and helped us enjoy our anniversary. Everything is super perfect! The only thing I would say is both my husband I noticed that the men's and women's steam rooms were a little weaker compared to what we are used to, but if you just like a little heat and a little steam you would prob really enjoy it. After reading some of the reviews it's disappointing that they haven't made improvements. We were staying at the hotel , so I came in for a 80m custom massage with 20 mins scalp massage added . The massage was relaxing but I needed more pressure , even after requesting more pressure - I requested deep tissue it just wasn't getting down to my knots . Also the scalp massage was incorporated into my 80 mins . I wouldn't have added the additional fee and service if I had known it was going to just take away from what I was already paying for . On the website it REALLY needs to specify that prices are different f-s bc no where on the website does it mention that . For a 80 m massage with scalp and hot stones it was $320 - ( auto gratuity of 50+ added ) another thing that NEEDS to be mentioned . The massage was not worth $320 and a 50+ tip was not deserved . Came here for an 80 minute massage by Pam for my birthday and...yassssss! From the moment I walked in, I knew it would be a good day. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in orienting me to the locker room and all the amenities. They advise you to arrive about 20 minutes before your treatment but I suggest about 30 to fully unwind and undress. I showered, sat in the steam room, changed into my robe and sat out in the relaxation room for about 10 minutes prior to my appointment. The staff brought me complimentary champagne and I already felt so relaxed. My masseuse greeted me in the relaxation room, reviewed my preference sheet, and escorted me to the treatment room. She was soooo professional and checked in with me a few times to ensure her service was to my expectation. After my massage, I went back to the locker room to enjoy the amenities then went to the pool for the day. Pool access is included with any 60+ minute massage (I think) and was the perfect way to conclude my day. 10 stars and many thanks to the staff + Pam!! My husband and I took a small staycation sans baby for our 7 year anniversary. As is tradition, he booked me a massage the first morning. I've seen my fair share of hotel spas and this one does not disappoint. I was shown around the area and offered a mimosa while I changed. The waiting area was beautiful and had some nice light snacks, water, and hot tea (the tea was very good!). My massage therapist (I think her name is Laticia, and I am so sorry if I spelled that wrong) was delightful! I was curious about add-ons and she talked me through a few of them to find what I needed. The massage itself was lovely. Not too firm (as requested) but enough that it worked through some shoulder pain I was having. She was kind, respectful, yet personable and friendly. I would absolutely request her again. The ONLY thing I would say is, there is a price difference between weekend and weekdays that my husband nor I caught... but that would not dissuade me from coming back. We were pampered with paraffin hand treatments, chair massages, and facial treatments, and I enjoyed the experience so much, I booked a massage for the very next day... today. In contrast to last night's festive atmosphere, I arrived at a very peaceful and quiet Pure and was able to appreciate the beauty of the spa, bathed in natural light through picturesque floor-to-ceiling windows. The color palette throughout uses soft neutral hues to evoke a relaxing air in sparkling clean facilities. But the highlight of the experience, of course, was a spectacularly orchestrated service called "Musclease." My friends and I do regular spa trips, and I've enjoyed services in spas across the country, from New York to Napa. I have NEVER had a massage service like the Musclease at Pure. The meticulously planned steps were executed with precision to combine exfoliation, massage, and special products, including a mask, to loosen and relieve tension in such a deliciously relaxing way, achieving results that massage, alone, can't do. Solid place for spa treatment (have only been here and to Trellis). Pros: 1. I've only gone on Fridays but not super crowded in the spa itself so I don't feel rushed or crammed in the locker room. 2. Ambiance is nice with modern furniture and decor. 3. Relaxation/hang out room has complementary drinks and snacks. 4. I live in Houston so to get access to the awesome Texas-shaped lazy river pool and that outside terrace, with a spa treatment you get access to that and the nice gym too. 5. Sauna in the locker room. 6. Good variety of services like massages, facials, etc. Cons: 1. Smaller than other spas so would be better for small groups. 2. Have to pay for parking (but you can park in the surface lot, caddy corner for a lower rate). 3. Prices a little higher than other places (and higher prices for services on the weekend). To get the best bang for your buck, I'd recommend going in the summer when you can utilize the pool amenities, during the week for lower rates and less crowded pool, and stay there the whole day so you can use the gym too. You can totally go eat lunch elsewhere and come back that same day to use the amenities. Don't feel like you have to eat at the pool (which has fairly pricey food too). read more

I decided to book a couples massage here for my husband and I while we were staying at the hotel. I was so underwhelmed and disappointed. To start with, the room was two different rooms that's happened to share an accordion wall and we were both opposite each other. Okay fine, whatever but the massage I received was anything but! I told the therapist what my problem areas were, and not once did she address them. My husband's experience was worse, the therapist didn't follow any instructions on the pressure of the message and then to finish it all off, made a huge commotion in the room. Unfortunately I had the displeasure of visiting the Pure Spa at Marriott Marquis Houston last Sunday for a 50 minute massage. Sadly it was the worst massage I have experienced. My palms were burned by the hot stones placed on my palms. Room temperature soaking towels were spread over my back, no special attention was placed to troubled areas and a robe was thrown at me during my massage. I have reached out to the Marriott hotel, the spa manager, and have spoken to claims. The spa manager was unapologetic stating that masseuse has never had an issue, and became angry and paranoid that I had spoken to claims and demanded that I give up the claims person's name. He stated he would not be helping me out and said it was my prerogative if I wanted to escalate this further. Go at your own risk. read more

Could be much improved. Came here with my wife for our anniversary. First off, you have to valet ($20) and it's not complimentary. Secondly, the robes and slippers were mediocre at best, and the changing rooms reminded us more of a hotel room then a luxury spa. The massages were decent but definitely not worth the half the price you pay for them. Thirdly, they were under-staffed. We got manicures and pedicures and there was only 1 person there! She wasn't ready for us at our appointment time and it wasn't communicated to me that there was only one person. Wife wasn't impress with the mani / pedi and we didn't get the full effect you would expect for the prices we were paying. Finally, because of the spa delays we were running late to dinner. When we got to the valet station they said it would take 20 minutes to get our car?!?!? (Mind you, that I paid $20 to valet) Then, the valet guy wanted a tip on top of the $20 valet that I paid at the valet station. The spa staff was nice but the prices were insanely high given the lack of a 'luxury spa' feeling we were expecting. I did complain, and to the spa's credit they did give me a partial refund. Here's my suggestions: 1. Valet should be complimentary and you should be able to have the receptionist call ahead to get car ready. 2. Need better decor in changing rooms and hallways - feels cheap. A friend and I booked pedicure appointments for an afternoon that we had free. I was thrilled that I could review the services and schedule an appointment on the app... except it wouldn't let me schedule. I walked to the spa and they were able to help me quickly. Since only 1 person would be able to do pedicures, we scheduled ours together and she would have to alternate between us. The spa area was nice. While I was waiting to get started, it was a little odd that the workers were laughing loudly - the sound bounced and echoed a lot and took away a bit from the relaxing vibe they are going for, but at least they were happy! Our pedicures were nice. We enjoyed being seated in front of the big windows and enjoyed the view. The massage chairs were very nice. Oddly enough, we both had nail polish that ended up getting messed up on our big toes even though we waited an hour to put shoes on. We did both tip our nail technician at the end of our session, and then when we went to pay, there was gratuity added to the bill as part of the procedures. Disappointed in overall experience. Massage was decent - but not on par with a 4.5 star hotel. There were no spa amenities, due to COVID and no price adjustment for that. Should have been explained to us beforehand. No hairdryers, steam room, extra towels, etc. The toilets were running continuously and were dirty (only 2). The hand soap and mouth wash dispensers were empty. No hand sanitizer or way to wash hands. No spa attendant. They also don't tell you that they add in the gratuity to your final bill. I was told that the $155 price was only good for Monday - Thursday services - and there was a significant price increase ($180) for identical services on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This is not mentioned ANYWHERE on their website. I was shocked to say the least. And then realizing the automatic 20% gratuity added to my bill (which is mentioned in tiny font on the website) was from the $180 cost, not the $155 cost, brought my total bill for a 45 minute Swedish massage to $210!!!!! The massage was good but NOT worth the cost. It should also be mentioned that I never received any sort of email confirmation of my online reservation. I want to start off by saying what an amazing receptionist they have at the desk. She was so friendly and pleasant and truly made me feel welcomed. I was not a guest of the hotel rather a resident of Houston just looking to spoil myself. I booked knowing it came with a hefty price tag of $70 just for a shellac manicure. I didn't mind paying that if I knew I was getting an amazing experience. Instead I left wondering what the heck just happened. What a disappointment. It's actual comical. The manicure is merely what you would receive in an airport at one of those express places. She cut my nails, filed, modestly did cuticles, told me to wash my hands and painted my nails. She finished up with a quick hand massage. No soaking, no paraffin, no stones, nothing. I've received 100000x more for literally half the price. So again I ask, what did I just pay for? No value whatsoever. One nail chipped the next day and I noticed a couple aren't even polished all the way to the edge. Don't charge ridiculous prices for no reason. Make it worth it. Go here if you want massage with a cold room, lots of light, and a mediocre massage for hearty price tag. Most massages have the room pleasantly warm so that it's comfortable when laying on the table. They had the thermostat uncomfortably low. We had a couples room facing the George R Brown that let in an abundance of natural light. They had a thin curtain covering it. Personal preference is for a soothing dark room. The massage itself was okay. Not worth what we paid. It was $500 for a couple massage. I told the front staff that it was cold in the room and they seemed to shrug it off. I came in for a prenatal massage with Sonoma. First off her name alone put me in relaxation mode. With a name like Sonoma how could you not give a good massage! I've never had a prenatal massage before (because this is the first time I've been pregnant) but Sonoma did not disappoint. The massage felt amazing, not too light, not too hard, just right. However, they were uncomfortable to walk in-so no big loss there. I had 2 massages. I was told to leave the product on for a couple of hours before bathing for full effect. One freaked me out a bit when she said she working as a massuse used to make her want to kill people. Conversations with other staff was consistently awkward. Had to choose to pay for valet or to park in a parking lot full of homeless people. The automatic tip added was another minus for me. Overall, I wouldn't do it again, but the massages were great. The place is loud, messy , not relaxing whatsoever with all that fluorescent light and the masseur was very pushy with changing original treatment that we booked and just overly zealous and yet hard to understand what she was trying to explain. The aroomas she used was so strong I left there with a headache. I should have complained upon check out that day but she was there at the desk which made it more awkward. The massage itself was ok. I am sitting in the relaxation room after my massage. If you are expecting an impressive spa experience, then Massage Envy would be a far better choice than this. I paid for a 50 minute massage for both my wife and I, but it lasted less than 40. The massage was horribly underwhelming. tldr; enjoyed the massage itself and the amenities, but overall it felt lacking given the price & what I had expected + The terra firma massage was extremely enjoyable and worked deep into the muscles. The massage therapist was very involved in customizing my massage before as well as throughout (e.g. whether the stones were too hot, whether the pressure was too much) which was helpful. + Although pricey, it's honestly on par with similar treatments I've received in the past, and overall was worth the money - especially if you make a day out of it + Booking at least a 50min service gets you access all day to most (?) the hotel's 6th floor (spa lounge, steam room, infinity pool, hot tub, lazy river, outdoor games, fitness center) + Steam room was one of the better one's I've seen, lounge was very relaxing with natural light - you can use before and after your treatment, tons of lounge chairs outside by the pools, lazy river is worth the visit - and you can get a good view of it by taking the elevator to one of the higher floors. = There's more sun on the pavillion/patio in the afternoon than in the morning due to the position of the building, but I didn't have trouble getting a spot on a Saturday at either time = Didn't have any trouble making a reservation only a week in advanced - Although you get access to the 6th floor all day, I only found out once I got there that on weekends the limit is 2 hours for the lockers (I'd assume that means its unlimited on weekdays) which didn't work for me since I wasn't staying at the hotel. I actually spent less time than I'd planned because of this, which was disappointing. - The staff was pleasant but there was a lot of weird back and forth (?) I can't really put my finger on it as to why but there was always miscommunication in my interactions. One example, they gave me the wrong form to fill out; I wouldn't have cared except for the fact that it almost didn't cover all the legal disclaimers necessary. And sometimes there'd be four staff at the front desk, and other times there'd been none. - It was smaller than I expected given that it's part of the Marriott Marquis; although, because of that they have limited appointments so it was never overcrowded in the locker room, though it got close with a bachelorette party. read more

The relaxation area was nice (it is co-ed). The facilities were excellent for a small spa. They offer a complimentary glass of champagne at the end of the treatment. We arrived early and requested to have it before. Upon checkout, I appreciated that I was specifically asked about my masseuse and her abilities. (And she was great!). My sister and sister-in-law both enjoyed their treatment. As for being worth the price...well...it is right in line with all hotel treatments. So, only you can answer that with your experience. We had our group Christmas party there and it was wonderful! The spa is so clean and beautiful and the staff very friendly and anxious to please. There was 16 of us and we all had our treatments on time and spent a relaxing time in the lounge with champagne cocktails when not having treatments. Best. Party. Ever!!
