There is plenty of parking, friendly and kind receptionist, and wonderful value for money. This is the best thing I have done for myself in years. I went to Purple Pear Body Therapy for a wax last week. It was my first time here and I was of course a little bit nervous but Maria was fantastic and made everything so comfortable and relaxing. The wax itself was great and even though nobody likes their hair pulled out, it wasn't that bad and less painful than the sugar waxing I am used to. Had a Brazilian done for the first time and was super nervous about the pain, exposing myself and the after results (swollen, painful, burning sensation etc) but Maria did mine and WOW!!! She's the sweetest most caring and funny person!!! Absolutely PERFECT for her job!! Obviously it hurt but not as much as I was expecting! She uses a hard wax which is I guess less painful than the soft wax.. Obviously everybody's skin will react different but I didn't feel ANY of the above that I mentioned! I walked out feeling no different than I did walking in! A lot of that is probably the wax they use but DEFINITELY a lot of how Maria went about it too!! Saw a couple of posts about how wonderful Purple Pear was on facebook so I decided to book an appointment and give it a whirl. I love the online booking they have, makes it soo easy to book appointments. I was lucky to get paired with Maria for my face wax and hydrating facial, that I so desperately needed. Maria was so wonderful, welcoming and patient with me and my needs. Not only does she give a wonderful service but she is soo easy to talk to and keeps everything real with you. Following a back injury, I went to my Doctor who only prescribed medications. My back was not healing quickly, so I tried the Purple Pear for back massages. The level of knowledge and expertise demonstrated by the masseuse would make her more of a medical professional than a masseuse. My back improved tremendously with just a couple of massages. I purchased a gift certificate for a one hour massage as a gift for my family member. My sibling called me today to let me know when they went for their massage, they were charged since the rate for a one hour massage changed in price from the time I purchased the gift certificate. How embarrassing to make a gift recipient pay out of pocket for a pre-purchased massage. The gift certificate did not list an amount but rather the service that was purchased. Another issue, why not tell the customer before the massage so they have an option? I will never purchase a gift certificate from this place again. Bad business. Buyer beware...If you buy a gift certificate for a massage today, your recipient may be charged if the price changes in a few months! read more

When I called to make an appt the receptionist was rude, not helpful and uninterested. I made an appt anyway because I've heard great things about here... not sure. Well I Booked a 60 min massage and only got 48-50 min.. when I noticed the time lack I was at the front desk already and asked about it and the MT acted like she "didn't notice" it was cut short, and that I should have "said something earlier". Isn't that their job to make sure they keep track of when they start so clients get what they're paying for? Felt super uncomfortable with the receptionist which was rude and massage therapist who kept trying to make me feel like it was my fault. read more

Paid $85 just for a pedicure and manicure. The "spa" included getting rubbed with lotion. I had to leave early due to unexpected circumstances, but they still made me pay the full price. I did not receive a massage, a face mask, or anything else that was included in the brochure. The least they could have done is given me a discount. Will NOT recommend to any of my friends. This was the best pedicure I ever had! Sunny did a great job but in addition to that, she spent a lot of time on the massage. I like how they use natural products. They also do a hand moisturizing treatment while the mask sits on your legs and feet. I've never had a pedicure that was that long and detailed. read more

Fourth massage, second spa pedi, and I can't recommend this place enough! First and foremost, you can get a 90-minute spa pedicure for $50. You have never had a spa pedi this good. I guess if you've visited a major metropolis you've had a pedi this good, but it's unreal. Sunny is the best! For a small space, this place is lovely and relaxing, just perfect for a spa day with a loved one. My massage therapist is Wynter and I adore her massages. My husband prefers deep tissue and his therapist is Lori (not sure of spelling) - according to him, he won't ever visit another therapist. We are all around thrilled with this place and are happy to recommend it to others. read more

I have a trigger point in my back and struggled for a long time with therapists (elsewhere) who either couldn't avoid it or flat-out insisted on working on it--and it's really painful! But not Patti. She has a genius for massage. Perfect pressure. Extremely kind and always listens, she really stays attuned to your issues and any changes you may be experiencing. I just returned from a 60-minute massage and have mixed feelings about Purple Pear. The Good: I have not had a massage in quite a while, and truth be told I'm not a huge fan of them, so I was a bit apprehensive about the one I scheduled with Samantha. However, I felt she listened very well and read my body well. Her pressure was firm, and she was able to work out a lot of tension from my shoulders. I enjoyed the eucalyptus oil she used (and the fact that this place sells Mountain Rose Herbs essential oils), as well as her pleasant and calming demeanor. The room was too cold for my taste, but it was a large room and I don't think she could control the heat. I was very happy with Samantha's treatment, and if it were not for her great service I would give this place 1 star. The Bad: Their website claims "We also bill most insurance companies as well as Workers Compensation and Auto Accidents." However, when I offered my insurance card I was told I would still have to pay for today's massage up-front while they see if my insurance is accepted. If it is, then I would receive a credit for future use. I don't fully understand this concept; if my insurance does cover the cost then I won't be paying for future treatments anyway, so how does a credit benefit me? Either way, this was information I felt should have been conveyed over the phone when I made the appointment so they could check this ahead of time. Not a huge deal, but a bit irksome. The real downer came after my massage. I was feeling great, happy with my therapist, and already thinking about the next time I wanted to come in. Then I paid for my service (and of course included a tip) with an airline credit card. The woman working the front desk was in training with their new card machine, and the (presumable) owner was with her. After she swiped my card the owner very loudly exclaimed to this woman that she always tries to encourage the use of debit cards instead of credit. She proceeded to complain about the fees and the $250 annual charge she has to pay. I immediately felt guilty. Having owned a small business myself, I suggested the card processor I've used and shared their fees, to which she scoffed and stated her fees were much, much lower. If so, why is she complaining? In fact, why is she discussing this issue in front of a new client, or any client for that matter? It made me very uncomfortable and uneasy. No one wants to feel they are causing undue stress to someone, or that the business they bring is a burden. All of those happy, euphoric feelings from my massage were now gone I loved the organic oils, the actual massage, and the location (close to home), but the lack of professionalism from the front desk left me feeling awkward and unwelcome. I will take my money to a business that actually wants it, no matter what form it comes in. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. I have been here on a number of occasions and have always felt welcomed and well taken care of. The massage therapists are top-notch and really know what they are doing. I have been lucky enough to get worked on by a few of the gals here. I'm also pleased that they bill and accept my insurance. Although this is my primary place for massage, I do treat myself to a pedicure here and there. Sunny does such a nice job. I can't wait to try a facial, I hear great things! All in all, I fully recommend this place. They will have my business for many years to come. read more
