I've been an infrequent client of Purple Sea Nails for about a year. It's a hit or miss on quality and the prices seem to change every time I visit. I always get the two same services -- a shellac manicure and pedicure and have noticed that prices are not consistent (one of the reasons why I have made this place "a last resort"). Another point worth noting is that the nail technicians make the experience uncomfortable. They gossip way too much amongst themselves and will stare you down to find something to compliment you about -- no thanks. It's just disingenuous and I don't care for it. Finally, the pedicure massage lasts 60 seconds at best. And, it's not really a massage but more of a very, very light rub. I would suggest looking for another salon nearby. I was really skeptical about coming here because the advertisements outside looked too good to be true. I thought something that price probably wouldn't have good quality. Until one day I saw a colleague with amazing eyelashes and that's when it all changed. She raved about this place and I was shocked because it was the one I always passed by on my way to work. I've had mink lashes done a couple of times from different people and places and they were ok no complaints except for the fact that it cost an arm and a leg. I figured my friend tried Purple Sea Spa and had a great experience so why not? It isn't going to hurt because the prices were so cheap. Long story short, great service and results. Mimi did both my sister-in-law and my lashes today and it was professional, comfortable and the results were amazing. I have extremely SHORT, SPARSE, PRACTICALLY NONEXISTENT natural lashes (Asian curse) and she was able to blend the lashes in with my real ones and it looks so good and so full and natural. I originally came in set on getting the $35 dollar 3 in 1 extension ones but decided on getting the mink for $75 which is STILL a bargain. They are super soft I can barely feel them on and she did such a great job and didn't try to pressure me in spending more than I originally planned she showed my options and the differences between them all and let me choose whatever I felt was best for myself. When I first started coming here the pedi's were great. They were my go-to pedi salon. I've realized after the last few times I've come for a full set or pedi, they've let me down tremendously. My nails would curve/crooked when I would go in to fix a broken nail they would always make the new one longer than the other. I come in they seat me immediately and start to get to work. Problem 1: the woman doing my nails didn't know how to take off powder acrylic properly. She started by trying to peel it off mangling one of my nails in the process and I had to tell her to use the little saw tool and I really shouldn't have to tell someone how to do their job. Problem 2: she completely misshaped one of my nails and I had to tell her multiple time to fix it until it was decent. Problem 3: she didn't paint all the way down to my cuticle on a couple nails which was just an annoyance. I got them done yesterday and the pictures I'm posting are from less than 24 hours after getting them done they look like crap and I'm passed the point of irritation. I call them and they tell me to come in, right as I walk in I tell them why I'm here so the owner asks to see my nails then proceeds to argue that it's the color that was used and not that it's a bad job. Honestly, I would be a little less agitated if they could at least own their mistakes and apologize but no instead she wants to sit there and argue in front of other customers in the store. They are terrible. I went, again against my better judgement, to get a pedicure before going to Vegas for a bachelorette and it was a painful experience. Damn the fact that they are so close to my house! I was in a pinch and I t is the only reason I returned. The technician went in to clean around the nail bed and cuticles, it hurt the entire time. Nice services offered. My two daughters, my granddaughter and I came in and saw the large "CASH ONLY" sign, so we let the gal who greeted us know that we would be back after we got cash. When we got back, i then noticed they had a bank card machine. I asked if they accepted bank cards, I was then told, "Yes, Visa". My question/comment then was, "why do you have a sign that says cash only? " That was a bit frustrating because it would've saved us a trip around the neighborhood looking for an ATM. It's not everyday you see a purple building, so I had to yelp and see what services were offered here. I was surprised by the 5 star reviews and hate to be the one to break the perfect streak. But when my polish selection only includes Perfect Match choices (where is the OPI and Essie?!) and my nails chip after just two days, that's not good quality. Regular polish for me always lasts at least five days. Maybe the gel and artificial services are better since that's majority of their pictures on here? =( I will say that the pedicure was one of the best I've ever had. The massage chairs are a lot nicer than some Willow Glen and Palo Alto salons I have been to. Includes two cup holders and different chargers for your cell phone! I am saddened at the fact that I have to write this review. I was first hand witness in seeing the cleanliness protocols that WERE NOT followed. During this pandemic, some salons aren't able to open. I don't understand how they are open here. They allowed some people without mask, even though it clearly said that they need a mask. When getting your pedicure there is only 4 chairs available for the 6 feet distance. But I noticed that they don't even clean those chairs at all! Today, I decided to get my nails done before I went to work. The doors were open a couple of minutes before 9:30. As I wondered in, I didn't really know what to expect since it was my first time there, but the gentleman, Bao Nguyen, who was settling in asked me what I needed today. I told him I wanted a gel manicure and he said it was no problem. (Gel manicure has a special for $20 right now. The regular price is $25. Bao didn't tell me until afterwards but it didn't really bother me). Although it took him about 20-30 minutes to finish my manicure, he did wonders! I didn't expect him to care so much about my dry fingers haha but he managed to cut off all my dead tough skin. I was, and still is, surprised he did so great bc my fingers are incredibly dry and peeling. Also, I appreciate that he was detail oriented. He kept comparing me nails with the others, making sure they were all similar. He even changed the nail polish brand 3 times bc it wasn't coming out smoothly. So, I can definitely say I was impressed today with Bao. He knows what he's doing. I'm used to getting my gel manicures done in Mountain View. There aren't any bubbles, cracks, unevenness, etc. I have to admit, he didn't file down my nails to make them even, but I told him I wanted to keep my nails long. Also, for some fingers, it isn't as clean and sharp by the cuticles like it should be but that was because I was in a hurry to get to work. My experience ended with Bao giving me a mini arm-massage which felt pretty nice bc he incorporated a heated rock & oil/lotion! Overall, I say give them place a chance. I got my nails done for $30 ($20-gel mani + $1-transaction fee, + $9 tip). I stayed for about 45-50 minutes. I am very impressed and would recommend him to anyone. read more

I asked if they had time for a regular polish manicure and one of the girls said yes. She told me that the nail tech was almost done with her current client and could help me out soon. I waited for about 15 minutes and got up to leave instead. The same girl who had told me they could see me told me the nail tech was almost done. The nail tech got me water to begin soaking my nails. I should have just left but I really needed a manicure. My usual place is closed on Mondays which is how I ended up here. The nail tech was nice, she made conversation with me and all. I had heard her say her name was Lisa or something like that. She proceeded with my manicure. My nails were broken here and there so I was not expecting them to look perfect but I figured they couldn't look worse than they already did. I was wrong...I would have posted a picture but I was honestly too embarrassed. The tech kept adding coats of polish and the fan she had on to dry may nails had me freezing. When she applied the too coat it just made my nails worse because the wand was not too wet with polish so it left streaks. On two nails she a completely removed the polish to start over. I was so upset. When she was done, she literally just applied oil to my fingers and hands in what I believe was supposed to be a massage. I paid the fee for the manicure and still left a very small tip just because they took me in with no appointment but I won't be coming back. I was angry and probably should've said something but I didn't think they would care to try and make the situation right. I love this place! I always get my nails done by CATHY she is so sweet and always listens to what I ask, MiMi is also someone who does very good nails. Once I find someone I like I will not go to anyone else, therefore I don't know how the other manicurist are. But Mimi & Cathy never disappoint. I have had my lashes done here, which I will say they didn't work out for me and were not my favorite but MiMi had no problem taking them off for me with no charge, some people can catch an attitude or just give you looks but she had no problem doing it. I'm a little upset with the service but I am happy with my nails. First, I called to see how much they charge to take off acrylics and nothing else ($7). I felt iffy because that's a bit expensive BUT they are ridiculously close to my house so I went for it. I had Michelle as my nail technician. She was sweet and attentive. My pinky's acrylic nail was a bit of a hassle and my nail bed ended up being a little torn. I asked for an overlay for that pinky which was misunderstood as a overlay for all of the nails and an acrylic for my pinky. Once we cleared that misunderstanding, we just left the acrylic on my pinky and moved on without the overlay(s). What really threw me off is that they still charged taking off my acrylic nails even when I got my nails done. Usually, I don't have to pay the price to take off the nails if I end up getting a mani but I guess things are done differently here. The gel mani ($20) + one acrylic nail ($3) + taking off my set ($7) = $30 total, plus $1 transaction fee and $3 tip, so $34. Overall, Michelle did an amazing job on my nail, my cuticles are super clean, and every side of my nail is covered evenly. Also, they have a BOMB ass color selection.
