Purvee Donut Shop was such a fun experience for our family! The kids loved watching the donuts being made fresh through the viewing glass - it made the visit even more memorable. The donuts were incredibly fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional customer service. Since it was our first visit, the staff surprised us with a complimentary donut to try, which was such a thoughtful gesture. It was so good that we ended up buying several more to share with our kids' surf instructors, and they loved them too! We can't wait to come back on our next trip to the island. I have been coming here off and on ever since I read about them in a Honolulu magazine article. I stop by every once in a while, and I really needed a donut on this trip...or should I say donuts. On their instagram, there was a new D, a thai inspired donut that I had to have. What I love is that they are made fresh. So it's not a grab and go kind of thing. Purvé is an absolutely amazing place to get donuts! The donuts at Purvé are so soft, always taste so fresh, and the flavors are never too overpowering. There are lots of unique options to choose from, so there's something for everyone here. I love the names of the donuts as well. My personal favorites are the "You're Killing Me Smalls," "Hulk Smash," and "The Sanchez." The service is always awesome here. The staff are super kind and seem like they genuinely care about how you're doing, and they are always happy to help! They even had us wait for a bit so that we could have donuts from a fresh batch. They also gave us an extra donut for free and chatted with us while we waited. The vibe of the place is always so awesome at both locations. The customer in front of me used to live across from this donut shop and could name every donut and describe every flavor to me. These cake donuts are the perfect texture! Since its opening in 2018, we have been to PURVÉ Donut Stop on Kona Street several times for their creative and sumptuously flavored glazed cake donuts. Oddly, I hadn't written a review for this business back then, so for AAPIHM, I decided to indulge in eating my favorite flavored glazed cake donuts. Admittedly, I'm more of a yeast-raised donut gal, but the cake donuts at this shop have kept my sweet tooth happy. What spurred my sweet tooth was seeing and signing up for the Yelp Elite APIHM Event announcement while I was traveling abroad. I hadn't received event attendance confirmation, but since I had business to take care of at the nearby Ala Moana Center, I first went to satisfy my sugar cravings. It was near lunchtime anyway, and several customers were seated at the community tables, eating donuts and sipping hot beverages. Walking in, both men greeted me as I headed to their counter for an order sheet. At the same time, I inquired if my name was listed as an attendee for the Yelp APIHM Event and found that it wasn't. No problem, I had planned on getting donuts anyway. I like PURVÉ Donut Stops' creative names and delicious flavor combinations for their glazes. Their cake donuts are made-to-order, and their fluffy cake-like texture tastes even better when eaten warm. Thankfully, they have a list of 12 "standard" flavors and one option for a Special Flavor, so I didn't have any decision issues. A single donut will cost you $3.25, but if you order 6 to 11 donuts, the price decreases to $3.00 a piece. A purchase of a dozen donuts further discounts the individual cost to $2.75. The cashier and donut maker, the younger man, was charming in verbally describing the standard glaze flavors and their Special of the Day (Lavender + Sea Salt) as he pointed to the donut samples. After making my selections, I paid for my purchase and waited inside their air-conditioned store while watching the two workers make and decorate the donuts. This is the OG location. Opened about 6 years ago (before Kahala). They can customise doughnuts and have a few sort of off menu ones. They gave me a "dirty sanchez" and omg that is now my new favourite one. It was so good I forgot to take a picture... Inside is open, and despite having the oil going, it doesn't fill and overpower the store. While I was there, a mom came to pick up doughnuts for what I assumed was a team sport snack. Whenever someone asks me where is my favorite place for donuts... I always say Purvé because they are in my top 3 favorite donut places!! I love how you can watch them make your donuts. It reminds me of Krispy Kreme but way better. Their donuts are made as you order so they're fresh and warm. Hands down my favorite one is still the na-na-nut buster! It's a haupia glazed donut with mac nuts and chocolate banana drizzle. You can taste every bit of flavor equally and it's just so good. Purve donuts are the best. I love that they're cake donuts and not regular donuts. I can totally taste the difference. I usually go to the Waialae location, but it was my first time at this location. I thought that it would be out of the way, but it was fairly easy to find. It's on Kona St. and you go up the ramp of the Iolani building. There's a decent amount of parking once you get up there. My favorite is the Sunburnt Haole. The lemon glaze with li hing powder is so good. The hubby is more basic and went with the Sanchez. It's just tossed in cinnamon and sugar. We also tried the Sanchez with cream cheese glaze. It was so much better with the glaze to me. It made all the difference, but he likes it plain. We also got the butterbeer freeze. I love this. It's delicious. It's similar to the butterbeer at the World of Harry Potter at Universal. It's not quite, but very similar. I could taste the butterscotch, especially with the drizzle on the walls. Get this if you get a chance. The guy helping us was very nice and personable. He answered all of our questions and was a pro at making our donuts. All of their donuts are made to order. We decided to try PURVÉ since we were going to be in the area(not just wandering). We placed our orders online and they were ready when we got there. Still warm! The two girls working today were amazing. They were so helpful, kind, and patient with us while we looked over the donuts and flavors. We ended up with four: 1) you're killing me smalls which was a really great s'mores donut. I thought it had the perfect ratio of chocolate to marshmallow. There was even that slight char taste that most people love on their s'mores. 2) hulk smash. I thought it was just okay, not much mint flavor and was the most "meh" flavored one to us. We would not order that one again. 3) the Umpa Lumpa one was DELICIOUS. Subtle orange flavor/ subtle cream. Just the perfect amount to remind us of that nostalgic orange cream pops we'd get from the ice cream trucks. The icing was thin and perfect. 4) the weekly donut was Ube and Oreo with a banana cream/ custard type filling. It was delicious as well. Ube anything is already great but that banana center was perfection. Donuts are more on the cake donut side. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I thought our donuts were a little too oily, it took over the taste a little bit but we loved most of the toppings. Pricing I thought was fair here. Had mentioned to someone at my work that I was going to be heading to Oahu and they highly recommended I try the Unicorn Butt Sneezes from here. They remind me of the donuts my French grandmother use to make only with elaborate individual butter creme frostings that are lustfully attractive. Hence the name Purve. One could say that these donuts are definitely a break away from the standard and are beautifully and tastefully decorated. All donuts use the same dough/ batter and are made to go so are definitely fresh. The unique individual frostings are very appeasing to the eye and actually are not overly sweet. Just the right amount of a butter creme type frosting. I highly recommend the Purve. You won't be dissatisfied. The old fashion taste will bring back memories of the old original donuts. The highly decorative frostings are way beyond what you find in a grocery store Hackett a more butter creme style. And for Halloween they have some foolish looking designs. Easy parking up the ramp. It had to be one of the most vile, sweet, corn-syrupy, non-tasty, diabetic-inducing sweet syrupy, non-tasteful thing I've had in ancient history. How can a sweet drink taste that bad??? Location was a bit tricky to find but go up the ramp with the colorful "Made in Hawaii" sign and it is on the second floor of the Iolani Center. Donuts at Purve have awesome flavor combos that are made to order alongside their funny names! Boss man hooked it up with a complimentary smores donut which was very appreciated. I don't mind waiting for made to order donuts so make sure you eat them quick. Smaller than your average donut, but packed with huge flavor. I loved the orange flavored Umpa Lumpa! Stopped by to pick up some donuts Monday morning around 11:30. They have 12 regular flavors and one rotating flavor. All of them are on display in the store, and you can order by writing on the laminated menus with a marker. I asked one of the employees what their most popular flavors are and he said the Unicorn Butt Sneeze (lemon glaze with fruity pebbles) and the Hulk Smash (mint glaze with crushed oreos). I ordered the Unicorn Butt Sneeze and the Sunburnt Hole (lemon glaze with li hing mui). Donuts are $3.25 each if you order 5 or less, or $3 each of you order 6-11. Because they had to make a fresh batch of donuts from scratch it took a while. They offered me a free donut because of the long wait time, which was really nice of them. I chose the Hulk Smash for my third donut. The donuts themselves were a bit underwhelming though. I ate my first one maybe 1-1.5 hours later, and it was super soft. I prefer my donuts a little bit chewier or with a crispy outer later, so I didn't like the mushiness of the donuts here. read more

These are good donuts! I loved the creativity of the place but the fact that it was backed up by great flavors really got us excited about PURVE. We went to their newer location relatively early in the morning and there was no wait. In fact, we were the only people there when we arrived. They had the donut options displayed on the counter and little ordering sheets were provided to indicate which donuts we wanted. We ended up getting eight donuts - unicorn butt sneeze, the jimbo x 2, o-face, na-na-nut buster, it's ok...cuz it's your dog x 2, and alohamac. While the names mostly were not self explanatory, they were creative. The donuts were made and topped to order and served warm. We prefer room temperature donuts so we waited for them to cool off. The one issue we had with the packaging was that all of the donuts were touching each other, which made some of the flavors mix a little and complicated matters due to a macadamia nut allergy in our group. Our favorites were the jimbo, which was a donut covered in cinnamon sugar and topped with caramel apple pie filling along with the na-na-nut buster, which had haupia glaze, macadamia nuts, and a chocolate banana sauce. We thought that Purve did a very good job with the mini donuts both in terms of donut texture and flavor combinations. I would recommend that perhaps they use larger boxes for packaging so that the donuts are not all in contact with each other particularly when they are freshly topped and hot. Prices range from $2.75-$3.50 each depending on the number of donuts that are ordered. For mini donuts, I found this to be a bit steep but it was worth it to try. read more
