People working were amazing and nice to interact with, the issue was they didnt split groups up so we had a line of 7 groups waiting for 1 group of 9 adults and kids to finish a single hole so we could continue. Then they only had one bathroom in the entire place, but it was closed the entire time I was there for "cleaning". My partner and I came to Boston on a cruise and decided to check this place out because we love mini golf. Puttshack absolutely did not disappoint. Really easy walk from the cruise port and there was not any wait to get started every though there was a private event happening on the first floor. Bar staff was super attentive to us and the patrons around us while we were playing asking if we needed drinks. The game itself was so creative and the technology was awesome. All elements on the holes looked to be in incredible shape and we never saw any holes that were broken! The ambience was incredible. We decided to actually stick around and pay for another round because we wanted to try more holes and if the first floor was open, we probably would have played a 3rd game. The computer system places people accordingly so you're never sitting and waiting behind a group of people which allowed you to really appreciate the theming of each hole. I first thought the price was a bit much for such a shorter course, but it actually turned out to be reasonable - and took longer than expected (it was also very crowded). I do wish you could choose your course - if I go back, I don't want to play the same course (even though it was super fun). The drinks were yummy, the food was good. I reserved two courses for Saturday starting at 11:30. I was worried it was going to be too busy based on all the bad reviews. My boyfriend and I got to do the Sapphire and Emerald courses. We grabbed a drink right when we arrived from the bottom bar because we got there early and had to wait to see our names on the screen to know which course we were assigned. You can take your drinks to each hole because they have a designated tables to set down your drinks. You don't get to choose the courses but I asked the staff nicely if we could switch from the Ruby to the emerald and they had no problems helping to switch it. The golf ball didn't always register the correct amount of hits but it didn't deter from the experience. The first course of Sapphire had multiple parties ahead of us with 4+ people in their groups so we had to patiently wait after each hole but it wasn't a big amount of time and we still finished the first course in 30 minutes. There was only maybe two or three parties on the Emerald course so we didn't have to wait on any parties before each hole. I liked both courses equally and found each hole to be fun. After we played two courses we sat down to eat. We didn't care too much for the menu so we just got poutine. It was good except for when a bite was taken and a piece of plastic was found. Luckily no kids were eating it but it was a little concerning. The wait staff seemed nice but it did take awhile to get the waiter back to pay the bill. We had so much fun here! Came to celebrate my brother's birthday and were pleasantly surprised by the nice looking bars, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs, they even have tables to put your drinks on when you putt! The drinks were really good too! We had a bit of difficulty checking in but it was quickly remedied by someone working there. We made our reservations ahead of time, which I believe would be necessary considering how busy the place was! They have several different 10 hole courses, so it really does only take about 30 min. The balls electronically keep track of your strokes and are assigned to each individual. It is opposite of normal mini golf, the higher the score, the better. PUTTSHACK IS THE MUTHAF*CKIN SPOT!! Instantly, one of my favorite hang out spots in Boston, if not my favorite. This spot has gotten some negative reviews, maybe because it's a HUGE establishment and they had to work out kinks in their first few months. I'm hoping the reviews trend upstairs over the next couple of months because it's very deserving. I've been here twice and have zero complaints about the establishment, service or otherwise. The first time I came on a Friday and tried to walk in to golf, that's not going to happen. This place is BOOKED AND BUSY. If you're going on the weekend, make reservations a week in advance on their website. You can reserve for up to 12 people in 10 minute intervals. I went with 8 people and they said the game would take 30 minutes, but it took us about an hour. The course was only $18 per person-well worth it. After you make a reservation, you can register players online by sending a link via text or email. Or you can register when you get there. On the first floor, they have a coat check, a 9 hole golf course, a bar with a few TV's and a dining area. On the second floor they have three 9 hole golf courses, a bar with a handful of TV's and a separate dining room with a view of the seaport district. Feel free to order drinks while you play because they have little tables and hooks to place your belongings. The food here is solid for a mini golf spot. I ordered the pad Thai with chicken, not mind blowing but pretty good. The first time I came here I ordered the hot chicken sandwich and that was pretty good too. I'd come here just to watch sports and eat. My friends enjoyed their food too. We arrived late to our game but they were flexible about it. There was a long line to start the game (even with the reservations), it's just a busy place. Some of the courses the line wasn't too long at all. They have a employee give you a run down of how the game works. Each player has a ball assigned to them and it will essentially keep track of you many swings you take, points, etc... you don't have to keep track of anything. You can play in any order and they will display the points on the TV's all around the course. The game itself was well thought out, creative and fun. For example there is a pac man themed hole, a trivia hole where you have to hit the ball to the right for "true" or the left for "false", a bowling pin theme, etc... I've gone mini golfing before a few times, but I haven't played a game that was this fun before and easy to keep score. They also keep track for the highest scores of the day. Also, they had a live family friendly DJ playing a mix of contemporary pop and old school Jams. All types of people come here--all ages, ethnicities, etc... Children are allowed in before 7pm. I went Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of kids there, but mostly adults. You can bring your family here, a date, your friends, colleagues, whomever. This is a great establishment, especially during the winter and you want to get out and do something fun but stay warm. We parked in the lot downstairs and I am not sure if they validate it as it was about $25. Puttshack is 2 stories of fun, from food to indoor miniature golf. Everything is very modern and technological. The TV screens will let you know which golf courses to play on when your time comes. You play 9 holes. Each course is different and has an attendee who explains the rules and gives you a club and a ball. The ball is connected to your account and will calculate your scores for each round. You need to let each person finish the course before letting the next person start. Super fun and chill atmosphere. My only note is that the courses were too short and the area is a little tight. read more

Never been to such a unique indoor golf place and I've been to a bunch. There were a lot of holes I've never seen anywhere else. It was a little slow moving but we were enjoying ourselves so we didn't mind. The drinks were very fun too! I could tell this place must be busy at night... The food was pretty good. Nothing mind blowing but tasty! We just got apps to share and then the deep dish cookie which I wasn't a fan of. It had sooo much salt in it i don't know if it was accidental or on purpose but I couldn't even eat it. It's not even like it was sweet so the salt complimented it - it just tasted like salt. A new way to putt in Boston with club vibes. LOCATION: Street parking and garages all around. It's also a short walk from the silver line stop. SPACE: There are two floors of putting with 2 courses per floor. COURSES: We played in the green course with 9 holes at $18 per player. The technology was cool to start but one member of our party had an issue where the ball wasn't being recognized by the course and it took quite a while to get it fixed. The concept is really fun (the computer tracks your ball through all the obstacles and totals your score at the end, no math for anyone!), but in actuality we ran into a lot of hiccups. The technology didn't work all the time so we had to repeat a few holes, the lines were long even with advanced reservations - they seem to stick everyone at the same course (there's 4 or 5 total, all fairly similar) who's there at the same time so inevitably we ended up waiting in a 30 min line to even start golfing. They ran out of balls since there were so many people and you can't golf without the balls so that added even more time... Overall Puttshack has a lot of hiccups they need to work out. Came here on a whim recently & I was a little weary because I've gotten mixed reviews about the location. But everything I heard was the opposite of what I experienced. The only thing that was confusing is what floor you're on & exactly where to collect your golf ball. There was a gentleman standing in front of the dispenser who asked if we had been there before. Since we haven't, he did make sure to give us a brief run down on how to play, and then it was smooth sailing from there. The drinks and the bartender on the first floor (tall Hispanic male) was extremely nice. The garlic fries were really good and crispy 8/10 The buffalo chicken dip was my least favorite dish, but it was not nasty. It was too watery for my taste 5/10 The Thai fried chicken was a little over cooked and had a strong lime taste to it 6/10 The magnificent meatballs were my favorite. They were seasoned very well, great size and moist. I do wish there was a little more sauce that came with them. 9/10 The boston tailpipes were really good and were surprisingly filled pretty well. I was hopeful for Puttshack, but honestly, was not worth it! We had a group of 9 & paid $18 each for a pre-reserved tee time on Saturday night. They were absolutely packed. It was easy to understand which of the 4 courses we were on by the multiple screens & our party name. But, other than that, there was no sense of organization. We were in a mosh of a line at our "Amber" course and we were actually not playing until 7:50 & our reserved time was at 7:20. Everyone was cutting lines & finally when we got to where they hand out the electronic golf balls, even more disorganized. Each member of our group was supposed to sign in with our info prior to our reserved time & there was nothing posted with that info. It took an extra 15 minutes to sort that out. We were split into two groups one after another which was nice. Also, we did not feel rushed at all while actually playing. Each course only has nine holes, which was sort of a let down, but it took us about an hour to play so no true complaints there. The concept is actually really cool, though! The holes are themed to different party games & you can gain bonus points and such. All in all, wish it could've lived up to my expectations! read more

Came on a Sunday night and it was packed. There was no organization whatsoever or staff to explain anything. We basically just figured it out as we walked around to see where we were supposed to go and how to play. There are 4 courses - one downstairs and 3 upstairs. You have to find your assigned course, check in on the screens placed around the area, and retrieve your ball from there. I liked the technology and the design of the courses but I didn't think the 9 holes was worth $18 per person. Especially since we reserved a time slot, the amount of waiting to play seemed flawed. We had to wait around 5-10 minutes for each hole. You would think with reservations, the games are spaced appropriately. On a positive note, it was nice they had free coat check. read more

Great concept and very exciting environment and location! I love a place that is inviting for all ages and groups. You can go here as a date night, family day or hang out with a group of colleagues and or friends. Upon entering the vibrant colors and loud chatter draw you in. They have a coat check which you will def need to use, trust me it's not fun trying to golf and hold your coat and bag at the same time! We came around lunch time to eat. We ordered 5 different appetizers and a 4 entrees and 3 desserts for the whole table to all share. It took almost half an hour to get water and place our food orders. Once the food arrived there were a few stand out dishes. The crab dip and freshly made chips were fantastic, garlic parm fries, beignets w/ the awesome salted caramel sauce and the dessert flatbread were all great. We had reservations for 2:45pm to play. They say it takes about an hour to complete. I would recommend making a reservation as they can get packed quickly. We were a larger group of 7 which can delay the smaller group of players behind you. There were a few issues that I think they are trying to work out but each station we went to had a few issues and it wasn't registering our names or the points we collected throughout. At times it was hard to find assistance so it was easier to just keep playing and do the tracking ourselves with own points vs using the actual tracker from our personalized golf balls. I wanted to give three stars due to the lack of service and extremely long wait times to get our food but I also understand it was a school break week and they are still a new establishment. A super fun and innovative Putt-putt experience! Not only is each hole themed and unique, there is electronic tracking on the ball and opportunities for extra points on each hole to make the game more competitive. Since they opened, I've been here twice. Both times have been in the afternoon on the weekend. And both times were very busy. I like the concept and the design of the place is beautiful. I do think it gets a bit too crowded tho, which makes the experience less fun. For example, as we were playing, another party was right behind us waiting to have their turn and then another party right after them. We had just started playing too. I think the business model should be modified to have players a bit more spaced out to make it more enjoyable for everyone. With all that being said, I would def come back - especially if I had guests in town, but I would come during the week at a non-busy time so I don't feel rushed. read more

Are there a few kinks to work out in their first couple weeks of being open? Sure. But is this place different and fun? Hell yes! We made a reservation online about a week prior to our visit - if you sign up for Puttshack Rewards, you get one game free! Upon arriving at our reservation time, we looked for our name on the screen and headed to the corresponding course. We started out playing the Ruby course, which had a great mix of holes. I LOVE that the ball tracks your swings, so you don't need to pay close attention or write anything down. Each hole has a table and hooks next to it where you can set down drinks and bags. A server came to take our drink order around the 3rd hole, and they were delivered when we were on the 8th hole. Considering there are only 9 holes per course, it would have been nice to have them sooner or at least know when we could expect to receive the drinks. The cocktails are a bit pricy at $14-16 each, but that's to be expected, and they tasted good. I got the Smokin' Painkiller, which was made spooky with a lychee "eyeball" for Halloween. It was delivered to me in a treasure chest that released smoke once the server opened it. Great for the 'gram! We had so much fun during our first game, that we went to the screens to sign up for another round on a different course. The next availability was for 20 min later, but since we had a reservation to get food at a table, we booked a later time. Getting seated for food went smoothly, and even at the off time of 4:30pm, it was pretty crowded in the seating area. Our server was super friendly and offered to take our picture for the costume contest. He was great at recommending popular dishes. Many of the beers listed on the menu weren't available, so we stuck with cocktails. The bartender actually made an extra one on accident, so they gave it to us on the house! I was impressed with the variety and quality of food. We shared the cheese & chorizo empanadas, Boston tailpipes (which are filled with lobster mac n cheese), and pulled pork bao buns. Each dish was flavorful and hit the spot! When we were finished with our meal, we checked in for our second game, this time on the Emerald course. The game-inspired holes here - including Beer Pong, Air Hockey, Tetris, and Connect 4 - were super unique and fun. The True & False hole, which also appears on the Ruby course, is cool since you look up on the screen and hit the ball into either the True or False slot depending on your answer. We ended the night with one more drink in the bar area and enjoyed the vibes and people watching. Overall, we had an awesome time here! We had a tee time, but people seem to linger around after they are done with their holes, which backed things up. It was pretty busy here, so I guess I would expect to wait around a bit. It was fine though. Large place, with a full bar for alcohol/non-alcoholic drinks. After a certain time, it is adult only, so if you are bringing kids, check on those times. We played the Emerald course, which we finished in just under an hour. The tech-infused concept behind Puttshack is pretty neat - the system keeps track of the number of each strokes each player takes for each hole, and there are opportunities for earning extra points in each round as well. We came today for putt put, which was fun. After our round completed, we wanted to have a drink before leaving. There were 4 of us, and there wasn't enough space at the bar, so the bartender told us to have the host station seat us. I did that, and the host brought us to a table, and left us a menu. About 10 minutes later, while the guys in our party were trying to catch the eye of the other bartenders (unsuccessfully), the "Hostess" came over to us and announced that we had to leave - "I have a reservation sitting here." When we told her that we had been seated by the host, she sniffed her septum ring and said, "No, you need to talk to ME, not to anyone else. I'M the one who seats people." We rolled our eyes and I said, "Okay, we'll just sit at the bar." So here's the deal. I'm sure there are good service people there. Just not tonight, and I won't bother to go back. Love the mini golf, absolutely love it, the golf part is competitively fun. We've been many times to golf and have a drink along the way. July 7, 2025 was my daughters b-day. We got right in to golf at 7:20 and it was as enjoyable as ever. Now, the bad part...we were sat at a table for dinner in a dining room that was at least half empty. We waited for 15 minutes, NO ONE approached our table. I spoke to the hostess about it as we also decided a booth would be more comfortable, she apologized and said someone would be right over....another 10-15 goes by...no one approaches our table. At that point we decided to go elsewhere (lots of better food nearby but we stayed for the convenience, never again), I said something to the hostess on the way out and she could not have cared less if she tried. Really fun take on mini golf!! 3 different 9 hole courses at this location, with each hole being digital and interactive. A few different rules to this mini golf (that hopefully the staff will explain to you)- like once you place your ball down, you must finish your swings until you get the ball in the hole (then the next player goes). Also, you are aiming for the HIGHEST score, not the lowest score. Staff was pretty good about explaining the rules to everyone. You do not need to keep score, which is nice, because the ball records each stroke and your score. I like that you can switch up the order of the players (on each hole) as well. I went opening weekend, so it was PACKED. You definitely have a wait time on each and every hole. There is a small table at each hole, where you are able to place drinks, jackets, and/or purses (also a coat check downstairs). You DO have to reserve in advance, and spots seem to fill quickly. Also, a bit expensive ($18 for 9 holes for EACH person). The courses are fast and I would recommend booking atleast 2. They are so crowded lately that you are unable to add on a course at the end (if you decide you want more), so make that call ahead of time. As for the food, make sure to reserve a table or you may not get to eat. Service was friendly, but drinks took awhile to get at our table and food was just average "bar food". Lots of selections, from empanadas, to burgers, to salads, but everything tasted just OK (nothing special). I visited this place for the first time yesterday to hang out with friends. Initially, I loved the vibe, the mini-golf experience, and the friendly staff. However, my experience took a turn when I noticed a mouse running near my table. I even recorded it and showed the video to one of the bartenders, a woman with silver-gray hair, to alert the staff and encourage them to address the issue. Unfortunately, her response was disappointing. She gave me a dismissive look and simply said, "Okay," before returning to her conversation with other staff members. I felt as though my concern was brushed off as unimportant or even unwelcome. I want to emphasize that I wasn't trying to complain or cause a scene--I was genuinely trying to help by pointing out a potential health and safety issue. It left me wondering if this is a common occurrence at this establishment and if pests are being adequately managed. That being said, the mini-golf was enjoyable, and the drinks were great. If management takes steps to address the cleanliness and pest control, this place could be a real gem. For now, though, I'd recommend visiting only if you're comfortable with the possibility of some unwelcome "guests" sharing your space. read more

Came here on that one free round promotion they were putting on for the opening. The nine holes definitely went by a lot faster than I would have liked, but it was unlike any type of mini golf I've done and had a lot of fun. The technology was very impressive. Each hole flawlessly counts your strokes for you without any user intervention and our scores followed us from hole to hole without any lag time. We just got drinks, so I can't speak to the food. The Bloody Mary had good flavor but was so full of crushed ice I got maybe 10 sips for an expensive drink. The painkiller seemed to have no nutmeg, which is an absolute necessity for a painkiller. But I suspect the schtick of the smoke is the main point of the drink. Long story short, it was a unique and fun activity but considering how fast it goes by and how overpriced the food and drinks are, I'd probably only go very occasionally. read more
