    Lilikoi smash cake
    Amy F.

The frosting is so rich and creamy. Cannot believe there is no dairy. It definitely has the best texture when it is room temperature. I am glad I went with the lilikoi (passion fruit) flavored cake and frosting. The cake is not dry. The cupcakes were good. I am not a sweets person so I probably would've enjoyed more of the baked goods but we were in a rush and a lot of items were sold out. The cake and cupcakes were for a birthday party. Baguettes and bagels are in my future. Parking is poor. You can park right in front if you are quickly picking up - but it is not a legitimate parking space. Parking next door is the cheapest option. It charged us $0.60. Probably cost more to process the card. There is also parking across the street. Didn't bother to look at prices.

The baker was so wonderful and took my very last minute, day before order for a small cake for my daughter who cannot have gluten dairy or egg. The cake came out beautiful and tasted like a regular cake! I was impressed.

Decided to try Pu'uwai Aloha Bakery as they specialize in gluten free, dairy free cake. We ordered a 8" single layer minimalist cake ($70.00 USD) for our wedding. Went with the guava flavour and lilikoi icing. Cake looked beautiful and was delicious to boot.

I am so glad I went with Pu'uwai bakery! I needed a last minute (one week) smash cake for my son's first birthday. Communication via email, was very easy from the get-go. Fransesca captured what I needed for my son's cake as far as design and added ingredients. It was so cute and tasted amazing! She uses the best ingredients, and my daughter said it smelled "healthy" in the bakery when she picked up the cake. Wonderful experience overall and will be coming back soon!

WOW! We celebrated our daughters 13th birthday and she is allergic to dairy so finding a cake for her isn't easy. I ordered her the lemon cake with strawberry frosting and it was beyond AMAZING!!!! We will definitely order again and hope they are able to open a storefront again soon. Thank you Franceska for helping me suprise Lizzie.

We've ordered several cakes from here and they're all wonderful! They taste amazing and the design of each is stunning - we order all our special cakes from them, like my son's first birthday, a smash cake, and also our gender reveal cake for our second baby! If you're looking for delicious gluten free option this place is worth trying! I was very impressed with them being able to take my "moon child" idea and transform the cake into something spectacular with the decorations we provided them!

Clockwise: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry with strawberry puree, guava with guava puree, Lilikoi with Lilikoi puree.

I was on the hunt for gluten free, sugar free, dairy free birthday desserts for my boss and found Pu'uwai aloha bakery. I contacted franceska and found that I could get a vanilla and chocolate cupcake with all those requirements. I got one of each and three with sugar in it: Lilikoi, guava and strawberry. I picked it up from the church of the crossroads near UH. Review of cupcakes: my boss had the vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and thought those were better than the bite she had of the Lilikoi. I am not a fan of sugar free items so I had the Lilikoi cupcake. Surprisingly it was pretty good. I thought it was a bit dense not airy and light like normal cupcakes. But I think everyone enjoyed it, even the whipped topping. Each cupcake was $8 and I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. I ordered it 6 days in advance and was able to pick it up by 9 am.

It was a Wednesday when a co-worker said she had been craving cake- little did I know her birthday was fast approaching. I had little time to find a bakery or a place that would meet her dietary needs - Gluten Free & Vegetarian. However Pu'uwai Aloha Bakery came to the rescue, like an oasis of water in a dessert of carnivores and gluten eaters; a spot light in my google searches! I checked out their web page, and the photos of their beautifully crafted cakes and cupcakes. Out of all the google options, they were the best that I could find. I filled out an order form, crossing my fingers they would get back to me before the birthday deadline. (Which they did, with in a few hours. I was relieved) As my cake order was less than the 5 days they prefer, I did accept their 20% fee for rushed orders, and it was worth every penny. I gave them as much time as possible, saying i could pick up right before the store closed, as it was truly my fault they would have to rush the order. Pick-up was incredibly easy. Finished cakes are ready to be picked up at Sugarlina at Ward. While your there you can pick up cup cakes for the neigh-Sayers of GF/Veg food, and even grab a Happy Lemon treat- there are so many delicious reason you should consider ordering a cake from this bakery. Once you get to Sugarlina, you just let the employee know you're picking up, and retrieve your order- absolutely painless. I gave the baker creative freedom, and i could not be more satisfied with how beautiful it turned out. The cake it self was extremely well received. My co-worker was stunned, she told me she never had a cake like this. I had asked earlier for a list of the ingredients for her. She said that usually there is something that has gluten - but she was shocked that all the ingredients met her requirements. If you were unaware that this cake was GF & Vegetarian, you would be none the wiser. This CAKE was magnificent! The flavor of the lemon cake to me was subtle and not overpowering it was nice. The strawberry frosting was perfect- the cake it self was over all refreshing. I should have had another slice! Birthday girl loved the cake so much she took the rest home to indulge herself more- as she should! I would 100% order another cake from this Bakery. Customer service is also great. I never once felt like I was inconveniencing them, with my asking for a rush order to asking them for a list of the ingredients! Super Pleasant experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Fully Gluten Free vanilla cake with Lilikoi frosting. Designed with fresh fruit & a dusting of gold glitter powder.

I recently ordered a fully gluten free cake from Pu'uwai Aloha Bakery & I have to say they exceeded all of my expectations! I know it can be difficult to find gluten free baked goods that are not dense but this vanilla cake was wonderful. It was soft & tasty. The Lilikoi frosting was fantastic. Not too sweet and very lite. In my order request, I requested if they could do fresh fruit and flowers in a simple design. I didn't know what to expect and my expectations were low because I was thinking it would be similar to a store bought cake design (Sorry) Upon picking it up and to my surprise, it was so beautiful! The design was perfect. Simple but cute. Everyone loved the cake and even asked where I got it from. We will definitely be back. If not for my friend, for myself. lol! Thank you!

Cute lil bakery right next to Kamamalu Market. Checked this place out and got their strawberrt chocolate chip cake and quiche to go. They used to be at the Ward Farmer's Market before. Apparently this bakery is a gluten free kitchen FYI if you're allergic to gluten.

OMG. If you're looking for a delicious SUGAR-FREE CAKE, this is the place! The staff was super friendly & accommodating and their cake really made my uncle's bday extra special. I messaged a few places last-minute on Monday looking for a sugar-free cake for Thursday. Keep in mind that Tues was the 4th of July. I got one other response from another bakery saying they don't do sugar-free and to try Whole Foods--apparently finding a sugar-free cake on this island is tough, not too many places offer them, especially within a few days notice. Susan, from Pu'uwai Aloha bakery responded right away and said they could def make my cake. I had no idea what kind of cake I wanted, I just needed it to be sugar-free & feed 8-10 people and I was hoping for some fruit on top. She recommended the chocolate cake with buttercream frosting topped with fresh berries. It was amazing! The whole fam really enjoyed it and my kids were asking for seconds, "because mom--there's no sugar in it!" The bakery was easy to find and super cute, so glad I found this place! The cake was so pretty!! The berries and flowers were so fresh and it was just perfection! I highly recommend Pu'uwai Aloha Bakery and we'll definitely be back to try more goodies. Thank you so much!!!

So I am allergic to milk and my amazing husband found this bakery. Turns out she's a one woman show and made the most delicious and dairy free cake I've ever had. Every bit of this cake was not only gorgeous but incredibly tasty. I can't thank her enough for this perfect birthday cake! My husband pre-ordered and did all communication via text . Her physical location is in Sugarlina Bakeshop in front of the Ward Center.

I placed an order for three gluten free cupcakes when I was in LA before my trip to Honolulu. I texted the contact person listed on the website. The cupcakes were delicious and beautifully decorated in a lovely box. Local pickup was arranged in a parking lot and I paid via Venmo upon pickup. I only wish there was a storefront site so I could taste all of their savory and sweet treats.

Do they have gluten-free scones or gluten-free donuts by any chance?

Does this bakery make cakes and cookies that dont have eggs, wheat, or peanuts in them? My toddler is allergic to these items but always asks me for cake or cookies when we're around any. Kind of sad....i want him to enjoy cakes or cookies in life.

Yes, all is gluten and wheat free, they routinely have vegan carrot cake, all breads vegan, cookies and pastry's that are vegan. Peanut butter cookies are out given the allergies. Owner, Susan will also take orders and can make most anything you'd…

Do this bakery have grain-free items?

Yes many !!! it is a GF Bakery !!

Is the mango bread vegan (no egg)?

The owners name is Susan. She can make you mango bread that is vegan. It's not normally on the menu so it would have to be a special order. It could probably be Buckwheat or brown rice flour. Call her at 808 631-1717

Between me (Gluten-free), one of my best friends (type I diabetic), and my daughter (severe egg allergy) we hardly find anything that suits all our needs... Does this bakery have any items that are gluten free, egg free, and sugar free?

Yes, vegan, gf options. Most gf is dairy free but with eggs but gf vegan ones are the way to go.

    Do they have vegan cupcakes?

Yes but not available in the shop at all times. Please call ahead to order

Do they make dairy free items?

Yes! They do have dairy free and vegan items as well as items with dairy.

    Can they use sugar subs?

Tes, She;ll make to order--mostly time and quality allowing....give her a call

Do they do birthday cakes? Is it always gluten free? What ingredients do they use? I am looking for a gluten-free chocolate birthday cake.

Susan the owner and her team will make things to order as you desire, she is always gluten free, vegetarian and vegan often.

Initially, the door was locked, but the owner Tara unlocked the door and asked if I was picking up an order. I said no, we were just looking around and wanted to see what cupcakes they had. Tara was super friendly and even though she was busy filling orders, she took the time to tell me what cupcakes she had available. I was initially going to get 4 cupcakes: 1 lemon, 2 strawberry, and 1 red velvet. However, after looking at her menu online and talking to her, I ended up getting a dozen cupcakes: 4 banana peanut butter cupcakes with honey drizzle, 3 Chocolate cupcake with Oreo frosting topped with an Oreo cookie, 1 chocolate cupcake with a peanut butter frosting, 2 Strawberry cupcake with buttercream frosting and strawberry drizzle, 1 red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting, and 1 white cupcake with lemon buttercream and lemon sauce drizzle. The cupcakes were super moist and they paired well with the frostings. The frostings were not overly sweet, which I really appreciated, and I could definitely taste the flavoring of the frosting. The peanut butter was my favorite and it paired well with the chocolate cupcake. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other flavors, or will request a specialty cupcake in the near future.

We ordered the Strawberry Panna Cotta, thinking that it was a parfait dessert or served on a plate. Though when the gentleman taking our order asked for the sweetness level, we knew it must've been a drink. And it did not disappoint! I've never had anything like this before. It was the perfect blend of strawberry on top, not too sweet, not too sour and the panna cotta smooths it all out from the bottom up through your straw. The gentleman working there was very friendly, very kind, answered all our questions. One being that they do not serve food/desserts here anymore because of the shelf-life and unpredictability of people ordering these items, I get it. He truly seems to love his job and it shows. Walking each order out to everyone, whether they're waiting inside or outside the shop, he's hustling, not sauntering around. One of them is Honu Bakery (HB) where I've had a disappointing experience that kept me away. While breaking free from work to redeem my freebie from TMobile, I drove to KSC and saw HB as I was parking my car. Morale in the office has been low lately and decided to get some goodies from HB to brighten up the mood. There was a large selection of baked goods upon arrival and made a beeline to their famous turtle bread and noticed there are now 2 types: their signature buttercream of 22 years and ube, just launched on 5/9/2026. The vibrant purple color really caught my eye where I picked up 1 regular buttercream and 2 ube, where I also wanted to surprise my family as I was having dinner with them later that day. I paid for my purchase and although it was costly, I was banking to cheer up my colleagues and surprise my family. I sent a message via Teams advising my colleagues to enjoy the baked goods and received favorable responses. Many were happy for the pick me up and a handful of them commented on how delicious the ube turtle bread was. In the end, I noticed the ube version disappeared faster than the regular buttercream version. Later that evening, after our family dinner I brought out an array of desserts that also included the ube turtle bread. Favorite niece be default commented on the catchy purple color and many enjoyed the soft sweet bread snack. Service could have been better as staff seemed robotic and lacked customer service. HB lacked positive energy and disappointing during the checkout experience. Overall, a much better experience at HB where they are deserving of an update with a higher rating from me. The experience would have been better with more friendly staff to engage with customers over robotic staff lacking personality and interpersonal skills.

The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! I'm trying to remember but I think there was a book off that was not too far from here! If you either drive or maybe walk. Service: staff was super helpful and friendly while I was there. I was having an issue with my online order because my phone was being glitchy and they were so nice in helping :) Also wanted to note their branding is so cute!! They even sell merch items too

Everyone knows to go to Leonard's for freshly made malasadas, and the constant crowds there attest…read moreto their quality and variety (review: https://yelp.to/jaduiZfQRq). However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? We chose their LITE Package, and it was the perfect option for our intimate wedding. It gave our guests variety while still allowing us to have a beautiful cutting cake. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our guests couldn't stop talking about the desserts, and we loved that there was something for everyone. The cake shooters, panna cotta, and cupcakes were all a huge hit. Our mango cutting cake deserves a special mention because it was incredible! It was so fresh, and flavorful that I'm still dreaming about it today. Not only was it beautiful, but it tasted just as amazing as it looked. The ordering process was seamless, communication was great, and everything arrived exactly as planned. Thank you, Kristin and team, for making our wedding desserts so memorable!
