This my reply to Austin Dinsmore: Austin, thank you for your reply. You said "we're sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience with us here at Puyallup Mazda." That's the same word that my daughter used when she said to me "Dad, I'm sorry I referred you to Puyallup Mazda." I said the same word to my friend for referring him to Puyallup Mazda. You also said "That's not the level we aim to provide, and it's not how we do business. We take pride in our customer service and always strive to ensure every visit is a positive one." Those are very eloquent words but I do believe not everyone in your dealership adheres to those principles; one being your sales manager. If he followed your principles, I would not be writing to you and daughter and I would not have to regret referring my friend to your dealership. In my opinion those words remind me of the culture created by Harold Milam in the early 1960's at the present dealership. Harold had nearly 60 years of experience to forge his culture of hard work, truthfulness and ethical behavior. After all, he grew up on a tobacco farm so he was not a stranger to hard work. Mazdas were added to his dealership in 1974. My daughter's mother bought a brand new Mazda 323 5 speed manual in 1987 from Milam Mazda. I drove that " matchbox" looking sedan for years. My daughter rode in that car since she was 4 years old which instilled in her a love for Mazdas. She later bought a 2008 Mazda 3 and a 2018 Mazda 3. Her husband bought a 2012 Mazda 3. Please note that all these Mazdas were purchased from Milam Mazda on River Road. I believe Harold Milam understood what real customer service was because my family purchased 4 Mazdas. His hard work, ethics and dedication to his customers' needs transferred to his employees. Sadly, I cannot say the hard work ethic generated by Harold Milam was evident in my purchasing experience with your sales manager. I believe the non performance of your sales manager contributed to my daughter and myself saying that we were both sorry for my friend purchasing a car at Puyallup Mazda. My daughter texted me saying "It just isn't the same place anymore". I agree with her. I wonder how Harold Milam would feel about your sales manager's behavior. I brought my Mazda in to have the ABS module programmed and was quoted $270. Later, I was told the programming couldn't be completed because of an incorrect part number--but I was still asked to pay the full $270. No diagnostic report, no error codes, no proof of any work performed were provided. Just a verbal statement that it "didn't work." If I'm being charged for diagnostics or labor, I expect documentation showing what was done. Without any evidence, it's hard to justify this charge. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend unless they improve transparency and provide proper documentation for services billed. read more

My husband reached out regarding a used vehicle and the sales rep actually met us about 40min away and he was very personable, not pushy, honest! My husband was able to drive the vehicle from one dealership to the other, although the car didn't work out in our situation but we were still able to find a vehicle that would best work for our situation and last longer. The sales rep even recommended a new insurance person, so he was helping us out for our future. However, the finance portion took a while to get to us. At that time we've been there quite a while and the last thing you want is to get the keys and go! But while we were with finance, I felt judged and dismissed because we declined all extra warranties and GPS. Once we finally declined all extra warranties and GPS, I just like felt a number to this dealership; another sale... blah. The way she went about it and announced on her phone to remove GPS, that was rude and disrespectful. Definitely could have waited until we left to ask the team to remove the GPS since we weren't even picking up the vehicle until I brought our 10k down payment a couple days later. The vibe totally shifted after I picked up our vehicle. I would recommend this place and sales person Skylar. I would recommend to shop around and get pre approval first with your financial institution of your choice because ours actually gave us a lower APR than what the dealers group of financial institutions gave us. read more

I had an amazing experience when I purchased my car from Dinsmore so when my son had his car rear ended and totaled and needed to get a car I highly recommended coming here. We saw a car we were interested in, we had Chris he seemed fine at first , but as we tried to see if we could get a lesser price on the car( which he refused to even consider) he became sarcastic and bivouac he could care less if we were going to be a potential custome. At some point he made a very rude comment while we were trying to let him know what our budget was. i looked at him and he realized what and how he blurted it out and tried to back track his comment. He ended up passing us off to another salesperson, saying he had something to do. We we did purchase a car, the car ended up needing a new transmission so we opted out of that one. A few days later another car came up we were interested in, unfortunately the previous salesperson was not there when we came to look at the car and we ended up with Chris again, I truly wanted to tell him we wanted to get someone else to help, but my son being a nice person told me not to say anything. We caught him up on the situation with the car we were going to purchas, we asked him if there was some wiggle room with pricing on the car we came to look at and he flat out told us no. You would think after all that happened with the car we purchased that's the least they could have done. He didn't at least make a half hearted effort to go to a manager and ask ( all they can say is no, or maybe lower the price a little),my daughter did say we were looking at other cars at other dealerships to see if they would try and work with us, he told us flat out and I quote "Then go". Well, I have to say, we at no point were ever rude or loud to him, so I guess we were a waste of his time and it clearly showed. I did email my thoughts of my feeling invalued to Austin D but never received an acknowledgment. I don't care if we did or didn't end up getting a car with them. I just didn't like being treated like garbage by Chris. Well, my son had 3 coworkers that were looking into purchasing a car in the next few months, they had never considered getting a Mazda and wanted to see my son's experience and Mazda if he got one, and considered going there to get their next vehicle. We ended up going to BMW of Tacoma and had a salesman and manager that worked and met us halfway, he got a very nice 2020 Acura. Again, it was not the outcome it was the being talked down to by Chris, not sure what set us apart from the people that he got good reviews from, but he was not someone I would ever want to deal with again. I bought a 2016 Cadillac a year ago. I still owe $6,000 more than the car's worth. Therefore, I can't refinance it to lower my monthly payments. The car is fantastic, I think I bought it for $16,000 but after all the fees, taxes, and other extra crap that was added onto it, it totaled out to $24,848. Which is INSANE. Over $10,000 than what the car was listed for. The tires also were in bad condition when I bought it. Just dislike the fact this car has me upside down. After a test drive he showed us a different trim that was more to our liking. At no time was he pushy, instead he was patient and we felt like he went above and beyond considering we had informed him that we were not ready to purchase. After a laid back and friendly visit at Mazda we left to check out a Hyundai Tucson at a dealership across the road, the difference in experience both in the quality of the vehicle and the approach at Hyundai was jarring. We instantly felt like prey in the eyes of a hungry pushy salesman that was more interested in expressing how quickly the car would sell rather than going over the features. After going over our finances we felt confident in buying the Mazda as long as we could get a good rate and negotiate a good price. We got back in touch with Bilori and he confirmed the best deal out of everywhere we looked (and we did plenty of research beforehand). After a few email exchanges we went back to the dealership and test drove the car we would eventually end up taking home. We were of course concerned that they may try and charge additional fees, but the experience couldn't have been more hassle free. His tone, attitude and condescending words were so disrespectful & implied I was lying whenever a scenario didn't work in his favor. just now I still can't believe it. I bought my very first car! I came with the intention to "just look around" and get a feel for Mazdas since I never really knew anything about them. I had my heart and sights set on Subaru Foresters, but my husband urged me to look into the CX-5 or CX-9 and felt Mazda offered a lot more features than Subarus do. So, with a free Saturday and no plans, we drove out to Puyallup Mazda to (reluctantly) "look around" and maybe test drive one. We were immediately greeted by Jacob "Bear" Hardy, who was surprisingly not super pushy or overly schmoozy like most car salesmen I've dealt with in the past. Just a genuinely nice, friendly guy with a laid-back personality. I know Jack Schitt about cars, but he was super cool, patient and answered any and every possibly stupid question I had. He got us into a few vehicles to get a feel. We test drove a 2019 CX-5 Touring. I enjoyed being higher up, which was a nice contrast to being lower to the ground in my current 2001 Lexus IS-300; it also felt much more solid and was definitely a lot quieter in the road, and the visibility around was the vehicle was nice. But I wasn't overly wowed like I thought I should be for an almost brand-new vehicle. We got back to the dealership, and I started inquiring about the CX-9's. I knew they'd be a bit more expensive, but would probably have more features than the CX-5. But, being the very nice, and honest guy that he was, Bear didn't try to upsell me on the CX-9 and felt a CX-5 would best fit me financially. So, I appreciate him for being honest and keeping that in mind. I ended up browsing around some more pretty sure my day at the dealership was going to come to a close soon. That's when I stumbled upon a beautiful 2017 CX-5 Grand Touring with all-white leather interiors -- something I'd seen on Mazda's website, but did not see many for sale. Most of the CX-5's and CX-9's I'd seen for sale in my price range only came in the black leather/suede or fabric interior. And this one came with all the nice upgraded features AND was in my price range! Between the exceptional customer treatment from Bear, seeing all that this CX-5 had to offer and the gut feeling I was having, my husband and I agreed that this was my new vehicle. So, we had Bear move forward with getting the paperwork going. Within a couple of hours and a painless paper signing session with Segi (Ziggy??), we were driving off the lot with this gorgeous CX-5! Again, I can't thank Bear and Segi enough for the absolutely, pain-free, hassle-less, outstanding service you provided! I get anxious stepping into car dealerships, and worry I'm going to get pushed into a vehicle I don't even want. We've had meh and terrible experiences in the past when my husband was purchasing a car. This experience erased the painful memories of our past dealings with other dealerships! This review is about the Puyallup Mazda service dept., and not sales. I have purchased a total of 6 new Mazda's in the last 4 years, 3 at Puyallup Mazda and 3 at South Tacoma Mazda. Sales experience was always good, as was the service experience up until a few weeks ago. Long story short, my daughter and I bought her a new CX30 late last summer. She took it in to the Puyallup Mazda service dept. for it's first oil change earlier this month. Drove it afterwards for a few days and mentioned that the smell was so bad it was making her nauseous and light headed so she was driving with the windows down. She brought her car by the Puyallup Mazda service dept. and told them about the smell but without an appointment she would have to wait hours so she made an appointment for Monday. On Saturday she brought her CX30 to our home and my husband and I popped the hood and low and behold, there was the oil cap sitting there and oil had gotten all over the engine compartment and hood cover, hence the smell! So we put the oil cap back on and on Monday I went with her to the Puyallup Mazda service dept. to let them know. We spoke to service advisor, Sean Welfringer about the situation and he told us that "people make mistakes" and "I've seen this a thousand times"! He could not have minimized the situation more, nor been more condescending to us. All we expected and wanted to hear from Sean was "this shouldn't have happened, and we'll make it right", and we would have been satisified. Instead Sean was acting like it was no big deal. I was extremely disappointed as I've always had great interactions with the other service advisors....Matt, Jeff, Alan and Brielle. Before we left, I asked Sean (since I assumed he was embellishing) "you've really seen this happen a thousand times, because I've had a lot of oil changes over the years and it's never happened to me", he then bit my head off and said "well you haven't worked in this industry for 17 years now have you?". At that point the service dept. manager, Scott, wanted to speak with us, and he could not have been nicer nor more professional. He apologized for Sean, and told us it shouldn't have happened and they would make it right. If only Sean had thought to just say that first! I only hope that Sean learns something from our interaction and treats customers better going forward. I certainly don't feel that the customer is always right, but in this case, when a mistake has been made by YOUR service dept. please don't act like it's nothing... just make it right and provide the outstanding customer service that Puyallup Mazda is know for!
