My family and I came here to celebrate my cousin's 26th birthday last night, and we had a lot of fun! There were 11 of us, so we booked the "Grand Theft Jersey City" room at 4pm because it was the only room that accommodated more than 8 people. The last two of our players showed up 45 minutes after our booked time because of traffic. The employees were nice enough to let us start late, but said they'd have to cut 10 minutes off our time because there was another group starting at 6pm and they needed time to reset the room. That was fair, and letting us even start that late was nice of them. Before we started, one employee thoroughly explained the rules and our objective in order to escape the room: Steal as much money as you can (up to $1B) and crack the code to get out. As for the actual room experience, I thought there were plenty of puzzles for all 11 of us to work on without getting bored or feeling useless. There were even "extra credit" puzzles that weren't there to help you escape, but they added a lot to the "stolen money" value. My group didn't get any of the extra credit ones, but if you try this place out and not get the extra credit stuff, you'll feel really dumb afterwards when they explain it to you lol. I've done two other escape games before (escaped them both too! woot woot!), and based on my experiences - the less people, the better and more fun. The more people you go with, the more chaos that ensues! Overall, I thought it was cool and I'd probably come back to try out Architect's Room (2-6 players). read more

The space was dingy and disheveled. Found a dead cockroach in the escape room and the room itself was unimpressive. For the price it is underwhelming, better paying a bit more and going somewhere else. read more

I've done about 60 escape rooms and the Haunted Estate was the WORST (and most expensive) one I've EVER done. THREE separate times, the guy had to come in to fix something that was broken or not working (computer wouldn't work, something wasn't plugged in that should have been, one of the locks on a box was literally not able to turn the letters), and when we put the objects in place at the end, whatever was supposed to happen didn't. The guy was like "Well.. something is supposed to be happening right now to show you won but.. it's not." Lots of time wasted on trying to figure things out when something was just broken and not working. I brought my friend who had never done an escape room before and felt embarrassed this was her first experience because it was so bad. The only thing that would have been worse would be if we didn't make it out. Some of the clues were redundant, the answers to puzzles were written on stuff from previous people who had done the room, magnets were missing from one of the boards. One part requiring a light was so dim it was barely visible at all. Guy didn't even offer to take our picture at the end. Very low tech and low immersion. I can't believe for $50 / person we got something I could have done on my phone. Only reason I'm giving it one star is because the website (which for some reason defaulted to booking 8 days in the future) messed up and the guy on the phone (who admitted it happened quite often) was able to get someone to come in that night on short notice. I brought him a cookie to apologize for making him come in. If you're an escape room vet, this room is terrible. If you're a beginner, this room is terrible. Do not let this location sour your joy of escape rooms with its overpriced, shoddily decorated simple logic puzzles. DO. NOT. GO. HERE read more

I had a reservation for 2 at Puzzle Out, at 2 PM on Sunday, January 29th. When we arrived, the place was deserted. I called the number on the door and was told that they "forgot" that there was a game scheduled. How do you accept a book'ing, take payment, then just forget? I did the escape room with my work colleagues it was pretty cool as we split into two teams as there was around twenty of us. I had not done an escape room before. I would recommend that you probably want to do this experience with quite a few friends as there are a lot of puzzles and only an hour. The puzzles are quite well done and of varying degrees of difficulty. You can get hints on a tv screen in the room but loose points. Of course you'll only have 60 minutes to get out. I think you could do this several times as the first time you won't have enough time to solve all the puzzles. We had a great time despite not making it out. read more

Went here with my girlfriend and another couple about a month ago and it was awesome. It was the first time any of us did an escape room and the man working was extremely helpful in telling us what to expect when we got inside the room. I set all of this up so of course being the overly confident person I am, I picked the most challenging room (Architect's Studio) and we unfortunately did not make it out, even with a few hints. The worker told us if we had 3-5 more minutes remaining we would have been able to make it out of the room. Puzzle out was extremely clean and fun, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something different. Looking to go back to try another very soon either here or at the Hoboken location! Only complaint is that the room was a little hot humid, but take into consideration that it was extremely hot outside and also very humid. read more

Came here with a group of 12 people to try out the "Grand Theft Jersey City" puzzle as a team building experience. This place is located in a busy spot in Downton Jersey City. It's hard to find parking, but there's a parking garage about a block and a half up the street to your left. The spot is pretty small, but it does the job. The hosts were nice and the accommodated us waiting for one of our guests who was running late, which we greatly appreciated. We had a great time trying to solve as many puzzles as we could to rack up money. Definitely a hard task with so many people talking at the same time, but this is where the teamwork comes in. If you get stuck, the hosts help out with little clues on a screen. My only complaint is that the bathrooms were GROSS. So gross, that I couldn't even use them. read more

Came to play Architect's Studio with a friend. This is my ~10th escape room and his first, but we both enjoyed it immensely. A few things that made Puzzle Out stand out against other escape rooms in my experience: We solved the room with two minutes left on the clock. This couldn't have been paced better! The number and difficulty of the puzzles were just about right for the 2 of us, we always had something fun to work on. Although I do suspect at full capacity (6 people), some people might feel left out at times. The puzzle pieces were very well organized, it was easy to identify which pieces belonged to which puzzle and which lock to open. In some less well designed rooms, often you'd find a number code and try it on every lock in the room. I'm happy to say this was never the case in this room. The game master was also super nice and did a great job at giving hints at the right moments that ensured that we were never stuck too long, which would've been frustrating. I'm looking forward to coming back for their other rooms. We were told there's a scavenger hunt with puzzles that they run in Jersey City (where you walk around town and solve puzzles related to the environment), will have to wait until the weather gets better though! read more

We did this as a gift for one of of friends. 6 of us friends tried Architect's Studio. Quite difficult. We didn't win but we all had a blast, laughs and confusion. Great to do activities that don't always revolve around food! Great location- come 15 minutes early to find free parking. Don't be late! continuing my recent incursions into Jersey City, yo. I've been wanting to do an "escape the room" activity and finally checked that off this weekend with a group of friends. with some new people having recently joined our clique, it was also a fun team-building exercise. with 10 people on board, we did the "Grand Theft Jersey City" escape room which is about breaking into a bank vault and grabbing high-worth items before the security system kicks in. we were ten people, and I felt there was enough to do in the room to keep people busy throughout the entire hour allotted. if you have downtime, it does feel a bit frustrating as it happens, but taking a few minutes to cool down and maybe go look at another puzzle with fresh eyes is what your team needs! it's right by the Grove Street PATH so it's easy to get to, and there's plenty of good bars and restaurants to hit up before/after. we of course went on to celebrate our successful heist. it ended up being about $27 a head for an hour of interactive fun. the soap dispenser in the men's room was kind of broken, but that's really the only downside of the whole thing that I could think of. overall the facilities were maintained well. I'd definitely go back (plus the same company runs one in Hoboken as well). read more

We were really looking forward to trying this with a large group of friends but were ultimately disappointed. The place itself is really small and dingy. We did the Architect room, and the room was hot/not large enough for a group of 6. There was only 1 staff member there who provided no sort of orientation and did not provide any hints until one of us went out and asked him 40 minutes into an hour. Try another place where you can find more engaging staff and more elaborate rooms. read more

This escape room was a blast, especially for the competitive group. We did a competition between two teams to see who could steal the most money/valuables from a bank vault while still escaping in 60 minutes. It was very challenging required the brain power and collaboration of the entire team and both teams barely escaped in under 60 minutes. I would definitely recommend it as a corporate team building event. read more

We had an amazing time tonight. We chose the Architect's studio. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially Carol! She took her time explaining the story and gave excellent hints. The room was very clean, there was a place to hang coats, and there were bottles of hand sanitizer around for us germophobes lol. The game was super challenging and even though we failed the mission (pretty badly lol) we had a great time full of laughter, confusion, and cheers. Can't wait to do it again! I love these escape the room games, but the bank vault at Puzzleout escape room was so much fun! I loved the cool items you have to "steal." I came with a bunch of friends and we struggled but the game operator was helpful and we had a great time interacting with him. I will definitely come back to try the architect studio which looked really cool too! read more

I wanted to buy a gift card for a birthday present. I searched the website and they have gift cards but no listed price range for tickets. Thought that was weird. I called and left a voicemail with how much a ticket is ( even if it varies, an estimated range) but never heard back. So 3 days laster I sent an email with the same question and never heard back. So I took my business elsewhere. It is a shame since this one is more convenient for the recipient but I tried. Customer service would be appreciated. read more
