You can't go wrong with bbq. I love coming here for their Burnt Ends plate that comes with 2 sides and a corn muffin. I've visited their Glen Allen location, but decided to check out the one in Midlo. It is always a pleasant experience to dine in. Everything is clean and updated. We ordered 2 plates, but my husband forgot that he doesn't like his burnt ends saturated in sauce. He asked the cashier if they can redo it without the sauce and was told no. That was disappointing. We love QBBQ! For gluten free options they have an allergy card located at the register. Note they do use a shared fryer so there is cross contamination for fried items. I wasn't impressed or disappointed. The service was polite and professional. Although I found the menu a bit confusing trying to put together a meal. I assumed my smoked chicken sandwich would be smothered in sauce-surprisingly not. I had to put it on at home. I ordered coleslaw which was a sample size what condiments like ( ketchup or mayonnaise) come in; another surprise. I like the pineapple dessert it was different. Did a pickup order for the family. I use to come here during my high school days in 2015. I feel like the quality went down a bit but it's still good food. Corn pudding and hush puppies are my favorite always have and always been. The brisket was dry. It wasn't that much enjoyable and I had high hopes. Burnt ends were good and moist. Collards were vinegary but I enjoyed them but my mother wasn't too big of a fan. The sausage was good as well could've had more seasoning/flavor. Absolutely delicious. I got the 3 meat combo. I got smoked wings, pull pork and sliced brisket. For the sides, I got brisket baked beans and onion rings. It also came with a piece of cornbread. Everything was fantastic. The wings were filled with smoke flavor. And very moist. The pulled pork was also very smoky and flavorful. And the brisket? Cooked to perfection. I go to many bbq joints around the country, and nailing brisket is hit or miss. These guys nailed it. The beans were some of the best I have ever had. The good: Q BBQ is my favorite place for BBQ in Richmond. Fantastic smoky flavor, the brisket is the best here: thick cut and neatly trimmed so not a ton of fat. Ribs here are also very good and not as nearly as fatty as some of the other bbq places in town. Pulled pork is good. Great homemade sauces with multiple options that includes a vinegar base and a molasses base. Sides are fair to good: Slaw is long cut rather than chopped. Potato salad is a chunky style. Macaroni was one of my family's favorites. Bread option includes bun or cornbread. The not so good: The smoked, pulled chicken has good flavor but but this particular meat is not trimmed like the others and is consistently fatty. To me chicken fat is the worst so I no longer order it here. Unfortunately they do not offer any style of links - the only thing I wish they would add to the menu! All the rest of it: The restaurant location I go to is in Midlothian and it has always been clean. It has good seating to allow people to spread out. Also has nice outdoor seating- tables with umbrellas. It's an order at the counter place and service has been fair. Be sure to check the family packs if you are ordering for multiple people. FYI: Brisket is not not a standard option on family packs but can be substituted for an up charge. Enjoy! read more

The ribs were very flavorful, tender, and juicy. The hush puppies were soft and moist. The collard greens were very flavorful and well seasoned. The Coleslaw was okay. Cozy quick bites spot and the pulled bbq is some of the best. You wouldn't expect that from a chain but they deliver every time. I love bbq sauce so I'm in heaven with all of their bbq sauce options! My family has been coming here long before this location went up and started coming to this one regularly when they added this location. Lately, customer service has gone downhill. Do they wonder why this location is always a ghost town? This most recent takeout experience just solidified us as a Mission BBQ customer. The lady assisting me with the order was basically trying to get me out from in front of her as fast as possible so she could go back to chit chatting with a coworker. I simply asked "is there any sauce already in the bag?" and was met with the response "there's sweet and mild included, what else do you want?" Well, drive all the way home and guess what, no sauce in the bag. This instance and several other times where just the basics were not even met for a standard visit to the establishment just finally took its toll. Just drive another light further to Mission BBQ and save yourself the headache. read more

3.5 Stars I hadn't been to Q in a long time, but I had remembered it to be really good. I was a tad bit disappointed this time around. Food: we ordered a bunch of stuff: We got the family meal with Pork bqq (with 4 dinner rolls), mac and cheese, and corn pudding. Also got a 2 meat meal with Ribs, brisket, onion rings, and fries Pork BBQ: It was a lot of pork. I found the textures to be inconsistent though. Some of it was super tender, and other parts, very dry. But the BBQ sauces helped with that. It came with 4 buns (just the King's hawaiian bag of buns, but who doesn't love those?) Mac and cheese: A little bland for me, but it was creamy and the noodles were cooked well. Corn pudding: This... I LOVED this. It was pretty sweet, but it balanced with the savory BBQ so well. Ribs: The ribs were pretty good. Not super fall off the bone tender, but not dry either. Would definitely get it again Brisket: We were asked if we wanted just the burnt ends or the main meat part. We got a mixture of the two. The burnt ends were very tender and good (I mean it's the fattiest part), however, the main brisket was extremely dry and flavorless. Maybe it was just an off day. Fries and onion rings: Standard sides, nothing to write home about. Overall, the food was decent, and the service was extremely friendly. Q Barbecue came on the scene quite a while ago and, when looking at the barbecue only, is the best of what I think Richmond has to offer. Their prices are fair and overtime of also had a great deal of success in trying their ribs and wings, brisket, and several of the sides. I appreciate it being a place I can go in and eat quickly without needing to be seated and served via waitstaff. They have a points program and also I think it's a bit stingy you at least to build up some sort of reward in the long run, which I think is a plus to any service or business. I've never had an issue with anything I've ordered which to me, makes any restaurant a force to be reckoned with. read more

Well it looks like Q has finally given up. Ribs, dry and stringy, burnt ends are just chunks of fat with bits of meat and the chicken was dry and wet - but not moist. Corn pudding kernels were hard, not just firm - beans, cornbread, hush puppies and Mac n cheese were good and as expected, but I didn't pay $50 for sides and mediocre bbq I'm sorry to see this place go down the tubes, but I can't recommend them any more. read more

Had the three meat plate. Food is good here. The ribs are decent. Burnt ends aren't burnt ends but better than the lean brisket. The food has nice smoke flavor. The sauce is alright. Things I would expect from Texas style bbq is good texture and crust. The crust is a bit hard on the brisket on most of the meat. The coleslaw is not my liking. It's thinly sliced and didn't have much sauce. I like a more saucier slaw with acid and sugar. Overall, would have again if I'm in Richmond. read more
