What an utterly disgusting disappointment of a dining experience! The minute we walked in, it gave off bad vibes and was pretty downhill afterwards. The place oddly does not feel welcoming. Had the "Qlamari" and avocado egg rolls, which were fried and really greasy. The only redeeming thing was the spicy sauce that came with the appetizers. Decided to go with the sea bass and my aunt went with the red snapper. The fish actually tasted rubbery, and the red snapper was way too fishy. After taking a few bites we informed our waiter that we didn't really like the dish. He was very aloof and didn't care the least in our concern. We were so disappointed with the dining experience and after we requested the check, we asked to speak with the Manager. the waiter came back with the bill, which we paid for despite our dissatisfaction with the meal. He then came back 10 minutes later and asked how he could help us. I asked again to speak to the Manager, and he proceeded to inform me that he himself was the manager!! I knew he was lying, but out of respect I went on to inform him again about our dissatisfaction with the meal, and his pure lack of concern regarding patrons' complaints. He then went on to state that we already "messed up the meal" and there was nothing he could do! I felt incredibly insulted. I mean i've been to a few places where I expressed my concern about the meal, and usually the staff were gracious enough to offer to at least remove the item from the bill or offer complimentary dessert, or whatever. This man not only insulted our intelligence by blatantly lying about being the manager, but also didn't care the least to rectify our disappointment with the meal. I informed him that I was not happy with the experience, and that I would write a review on yelp, yet he didn't even care. If I could give this place negative or zero stars I would!! Absolutely delightful place! DeLISHous food, fancy setting, courteous wait staff. I can't say enough good things. Very pleased with my sea bass dish and my partner enjoyed the salmon platter. The meat portions are not huge but the sauce is incredible and you get rice or can order a side of fried rice. Just wonderful...! They have live music the third Friday of the month and you need reservations for that evening. Jazz or vocals. I would call this is a very special, romantic setting with equally delightful eats. Oh what a hidden gem, driven by so many times, looks like nothing from the outside. But this is fusion done right on a level that rivals much more expensive restaurant and definitely not expected in the burbs. The 2 sisters that run it (one in the kitchen, one in the front) are very professional and both super attentive. The fusion flavor combination coming out of the kitchen will blow you away ... sweet potato / wasabi, asian spice rubs, rabbit with glass noodles, the list goes on. The French Beefsteak (their signature dish) is worth a lot of press but my personal favorite so far has been the ribs with sensational spice rub. Come with an open mind and you will be rewarded. I have gone here for 5 years and it is the best food I have ever had. I live four hours away now and I still take the time to stop here when I am back. This place is great! What a hidden gem. Don't judge this place by location or the outside decor. Located in the middle of a parking lot in a strip mall typically isn't the place to go on a date night. It isn't much to look at from the outside but the inside is a total different experience. I wanted to try everything on the menu, all the items had something different about them that made you wanted to try them all. The staff was very friendly, the waitress, who I believe was the wife of the chef and the owner I believe, was great with her suggestions and her stories behind some of the dishes. We tried the banana salmon, which I thought would be salmon baked in a leaf but I was mistaken. Instead, I had this beautifully cooked piece of pan fired salmon in this delicious banana curry. I never heard of banana in curry before but it added this sweet element that was just amazing. We also tired the Thai fried rice, the Vietnamese salad, and the bread pudding dessert.... I am not giving these other dished the much deserved respect that they deserve, for no other reason then lack of time. I can certainly go on and on about how delicious those other items were as well. Q is a diamond in the suburban rough. You would never guess that tucked away in an unassuming plain brick building in a Berkots shopping area, you'd find one of the most unique and delightful food experiences in Chicago. The food is French Vietnamese though I'd categorize it heavier on the rich French side leveraging all the delightful unique Asian flavors of Thai basil, lemon grass, curry, etc. My absolute favorite dish and a must is the crab leg appetizer. They also serve very delicious and unique martinis such as green tea, pumpkin, passion fruit, etc. The chef and owner, Whey, is absolutely delightful with a clear devotion and love for her craft. She will be happy to make whatever you like, just ask. Her husband runs the bar and serves. It's a family run, warm and welcoming atmosphere. After years of driving past this place and wondering, we finally decided to give it a try. I am now so mad at myself for all the years of missing out on this great restaurant. The menu has many options from traditional Thai food to upscale seafood. There is an extensive martini and cocktail list as well. We tried the baby q ribs and spicy tuna appetizers and spicy sea and Chilean sea bass as entrees. All were amazing, with the sea bass being the stand out. The curry sauce was unbelievable. The owner was very sweet and gave great guidance on the menu. We arrived at 8pm and they close at 9pm, but I did call ahead. I would recommend doing that or making a reservation so they are expecting you as diners. You can tell they put much love and care into their food and want to be prepared to serve you their best. From the outside it looks like a pancake house, but once inside you realize the owner is your waitress and she will do anything to make your meal a good one. A couple of weeks ago we went to Q based on a recommendation of a friend of a friend, and are we glad we did! The setting is elegant but simple, and the food is Vietnamese/French. We started with drinks, and the highlight was the pumpkin martini - perfect drink for this time of year! For the appetizer, we had the Vietnamese Crispy Cake, a traditional Vietnamese pancake that was plenty big enough for the three of us to share. For main courses, I had the Sesame Duck. It was perfectly cooked, and the sauce (orange/sesame) was excellent. My wife had the lamb chops, which were also perfectly prepared and very tasty. Our friend had the Yellow Curry Chicken. The curry was very subtle and aromatic - it had a little bite without being overpowering. For dessert, we had the Green Tea Tiramisu - lots of hazelnut, and very delicious. This is a great little restaurant run by two young Vietnamese sisters. It's tucked away behind the Starbucks and the Walgreens at 159th and Wolf Rd - it's a little hard to spot from the street, but it's definitely worth your time. read more

Took twenty minutes just to order drinks and an appetizer. After 50 minutes of not asking for our order, my girlfriend got the rudest response when asked how long the wait would be for the kitchen if we stayed and the waitress response was "You can go." I can only give an initial semi-review of Q, as I have only gotten take out. For those of you that just drive by, Q is not a family style Greek restaurant. It is surprisingly a Asian/French fusion restaurant. The sign really does not do the place justice. At least it is a fusion restaurant if you are dining in. I was informed that the take out menu differs greatly from the in house menu. Regardless, I got two orders of Pad Thai to go. While waiting I sat at the bar and had a beer, they had a nice selection of foreign beer, I had some Japanese white ale. It was good. The food came out fairly quickly and it was very good. We brought a group of 12 to Q on Father's Day for lunch. I chose Q because the service is always great, it is rarely crowed and the food is always fresh and made to order. Reservations were made earlier in the week and when we arrived, the owner, Q, greeted us at the door and showed us to our table. She was attentive to our table from start to finish. Drink orders were taken and a couple of us ordered from their amazing martini menu. My favorite is the honey pear martini. Because Q takes extreme pride in her business, she will ask you many times if you have questions about the menu and if you have any food allergies. One of our family members had a green pepper allergy. Q helped her find a dish from the menu that could be prepared without contact with green pepper. For appetizers, we ordered the short ribs, avocado rolls, panko rolls and the calamari. All were delicious - especially the calamari! It was probably the best I have ever had. For entrees our table ordered the Thai Chicken Cashew (my favorite), Pepper steak, Sesame chicken, Chicken fried rice and the Chicken pad see eiw. The Grandpas ordered the Baby Q ribs and the Sesame duck. Our flavorful dishes were delivered piping hot and with sides of steaming white rice. We finished with a delicious peach creme brûlée, coconut sorbet and green tea tiramisu to share. All 12 of us left feeling extremely satisfied with the service we received and the delicious meal we shared for our Father's Day celebration. My suggestion to anyone that visits Q is to take time to review the menu and to ask questions if necessary. Let any food allergies be known to your server and she will help you select a meal that works fo your individual needs. Communication is the key! read more

Two friends and I had lunch on a Friday recently at Q. I was expecting to really be impressed as I had seen it on Check Please and it looked very inviting with unusual foods. I was disappointed. We started off asking for separate checks because two of us would be ordering drinks and appetizer and the other lady would not. We were told very firmly that this was a high end, fine-dining restaurant and our request was refused without apology. So, we ordered a pork belly appetizer which was very tasty and enjoyable. We also ordered martini's and they were good but unremarkable. The entrees, Pad Tai and a pork and noodle soup. We all agreed these were good but not outstanding. We tried again to get her to agree to separate checks. I mean there were only three of us, how hard could that be? Our server/owner again got annoyed that we were still asking and again refused. So in the end I used the paper on the tablecloth to figure out what each of our amounts would be. I got it slightly wrong which we were told about, of course. I am generalizing here but customer service in Asian restaurants sometimes does not seem to be a priority and perhaps, as immigrants, they don't 'get it'. Not quite sure what to say about this place. We pulled into the parking lot at 9:40 on a Saturday night. The hours said to 10:30 PM on the door, and the bright neon sign said open. We had our doubts as looking in the window all we saw was one woman sitting at the bar. There were two cars in the lot, one of which was running. We went to the door (the sign did say Open) which was locked. The woman who was at the bar walked over opened the door and literally snarled at us when we asked if we could come in. I have never seen a person snarl before. I'm guessing it was her car warming up in the lot. We sat at the bar, but decided we had enough and left. If you want to close at 9:30, then change the hours on the door and turn off the Open sign. Better yet just get out of the service industry. read more

She stated we did not have reservations (there was no one in the restaurant although they had been open for almost an hour), so she said we were not welcome and should leave and she was the owner and could run her business any way she wanted and did NOT WANT OUR BUSINESS. Each of the business owners that was with me stated they had never seen anyone act so poorly to new prospects trying to have lunch. She was upset also that we had informed business owners that we would meet there for lunch today and bottom line we did not call and get reservations even though they had no business. We will never go back there again. In 30 years of having small business luncheons at many restaurants, we have always been welcomed and returned to many spots.
