This place was an unexpected surprise! We came with our friends who live near by, we had no expectations; from the outside looks ok, nothing extraordinary, it was kind of empty and we thought it was a bad sign... we could not have been more wrong! The food was amazing. We had multiple appetizers each one better than the previous one, everybody enjoyed their cocktails and the main dishes were the icing of the cake! The best panang curry I have tried! I'm not a red meat eater but my husband and friends loved the filet mignon. Even the salad was unique and very tasty. The owner was there serving tables and one can tell how passionate she is about food. Excellent service. Too sad is so far from Chicago otherwise I can see myself going very often. We were seated immediately and received our appetizer and salad not long after ordering. The appetizer and salad were excellent. But... we waited over 45 minutes for our entrees. We understand and accept that there are unforeseen incidences that may cause a delay in food preparation. But... not once did our server or the owner (who also waits on customers) stop by our table to let us know why or to apologize for the delay. The entrees were average at best. The next day we contacted the owner by e-mail to let her know how we felt ignored and that this was not good business practice. This place was my friend's pick for her birthday dinner. Party of 5, at 5:30 on Saturday. No reservation needed. The place is nicely decorated, but it is very, very dim. Could be romantic, but the set-up is very open with tables and chairs, no booths. I will note that they must have good soundproofing or something, as you could not hear conversation from other tables that were close by. Service was very attentive, but not friendly. Not warm and welcoming, very too the point. The food was good, some better than others. I had the fish cakes (take a pass) and the seafood lover, which was excellent. The portions are good size. I recommend the simplicity martini - if you are not a fan over overly sweet drinks - this was the best part of my meal. My portion of the bill was $90, that included food, drinks, tip, tax. Note - I had 4 drinks. Which to me, seems pricey. It is a dressed up Thai place, not sure the price is worth it. The food here is delicious! We had the cashew chicken, pepper steak, seafood spring rolls, and shrimp fried rice. We also had a lamb appetizer. All cooked perfectly and very generous portions. The friendly service was top notch. When we walked in, we were given a spritz of hand sanitizer before being led through the impeccably clean restaurant to our table. From start to finish, it was a wonderful experience. This gem of a restaurant is on 159th street but it's not obvious so you have to know where you're going. My advice? FIND IT! I went to dinner here a few weeks ago for a girls night. I told the waitress I have a gluten intolerance. Everything was going ok until I ordered a sangria. On the menu it did not describe what the ingredients were so I thought it was made the traditional way. As I was drinking it I could tell there were other ingredients/liquor in it so I thought... let me ask the waitress to be on the safe side. Well it was the owner of the restaurant that came by our table next so I asked her. Boi, was she the most disrespectful little lady that I've ever met. I explained to her that I had a gluten intolerance and asked her what was in the sangria. She instantly became enraged and asked me... DO YOUUUU know what is in sangria. I said I think the traditional way is wine, fruit, sometimes brandy. She cut me off and said, "NOOOOO, YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO MAKE SANGRIA...IT CAN HAVE MANY DIFFERENT LIQUORS IN IT. She named all sorts of liquor she added in their sangria and tried to make me feel some type of way. She was shrugging her shoulders and said, it can be made with ANYTHING!!!!! I was pretty shocked how she tried to make me feel like an idiot but whatever. So, I then responded nicely and said, well I can't drink this, I'll get sick.. can I order something else.. I could have made a big deal because I usually vomit after accidentally eating gluten. She then tried to blame me and was so rude again asking, DID YOU EVEN TELL YOUR WAITRESS YOU HAVE A GLUTEN PROBLEM. First of all... it's a gluten intolerance or allergy lady... but I responded respectfully and said yes, I told her before I ordered. While this was going on, mind you... she was intimidating with her demeanor... her body language and speech . I'm a child of Asian immigrant parents as well so it's not a cultural barrier that there was a lack of.. she was just a VERY MEAN little lady.. anyways.. back to the story.. I DIDNT want to ruin our girls night so I just kept my mouth shut because it wasn't worth it....but... it continued.. she came back and I asked her what I could order that was gf and she responded so angry again, telling me I can't have anything there but Vodka and water. Lol.. I mean there were gf options but I just kindly AGAIN said I'm ok. At the end of our dinner. She asked all the other ladies at the table if they wanted to-go boxes except me. The purveyor of this restaurant is a cyber stalker. Beware if you don't like your experience and attempt to write a bad review. Yes, I'm writing a bad review, but it's about the creepy way my family was treated, in addition to the unacceptable service they received. She's lucky we didn't report her, her behavior was actually insane. Don't believe me? Look at her responses to any negative review on here. I'm certain that she'll be on here with some dismissive/crazy/victim-blaming response to this review, but it's only fair that people have the opportunity to truthfully share their experience and warn others. I went there with my family once a few years ago for a family dinner. It was fine. My spouse and I live in the city, where truly kickass Asian cuisine is on every corner, and it doesn't need to be diluted with the fusion of other cuisines. But this place was fine. I had no issue with the restaurant. If you aren't familiar with Asian cuisine, it's American enough that it'll ease you into it. It's a fine place to start. Recently, my sister-in-law (who is legit one of the nicest human beings I have ever met) and a friend went to a concert, but wanted to have dinner first. There was one additional party at the restaurant. They ordered drinks. And then, nothing. FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF - nothing. They tried to get another drink, were ignored, and never saw the food they ordered. Another 15 minutes later, someone came out and said, "we're just cooking your food." My sister-in-law and her friend had to leave for the performance in 15 minutes. They told the server that they weren't going to be able to stay and wait any longer, and she barked, "WE'VE BEEN VERY BUSY!" Guys, there was ONE other table in the place with diners. They let the purveyor know that they needed to leave, and asked to close out. Server returns and SLAMS the check down on the table, apparently pissed off that my sister and her friend don't have another hour and 45 minutes to waste. Sister's friend gives the server the check with a credit card, and is at this point really put off. (Remember, sister encouraged her friend to try this place.) The server does not care for how the check was handed to her and snaps, "Well, you don't have to be rude about it!!" Now comes the insane part. My mother-in-law was a huge fan of this restaurant and wrote this super-glowing review on Facebook. She then amended it after her daughter had this experience, stating what had happened, and ending with a "shame on you for treating customers this way." Most business owners would read that and think, "holy crap, what happened?" and might, oh, I don't know, try to make it right somehow? Nothing. Flash forward, mother-in-law is has lunch plans with a friend. She wants to support this business and give them another opportunity to demonstrate that they are capable of a positive customer service experience. Why, I don't know, but that's just me. Anyway, they walk in (there is again just one table of diners) and the host/owner - I am not joking about this - sneers/whispers my mother-in-law's name. She had no reason to know her name and recognize her. This crazy person got online and f-ing cyber-stalked my mother-in-law on Facebook after she wrote her review. After saying her name, and completely freaking her out, she said, in the same horror movie tone "you wrote bad things about us on Facebook." She then whispered something, and when my mother-in-law said, "excuse me?" she yelled at her "WE WILL NOT SERVE YOU!!! WE WILL NOT SERVE YOU!!" They were basically chased out of there for writing a negative review. Her responses to negative reviews NEVER indicate any culpability on her part - it's always her customers' fault, and she gaslights them like crazy. "I'm sorry you don't like my restaurant, I'm just too busy being winner of Orland park's best Asian restaurant of the century..." (shouldn't be too hard when there are like, four in town.) "I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience, it's too bad you're such a small, sad, pathetic person that you felt the need to write a negative review. Now if you'll excuse me, I must get back to running a business and signing autographs for my legions of fans." I do not tolerate bullying. I am successful, well-adjusted, and highly educated. I have no reason to write this review other than the concern triggered by how my family was treated. I don't care what awards this place won, how many people like it, or whatever else the owner uses to beat people up when they give less than a five star review. There is absolutely no excuse for what happened in that restaurant, and how customers are passive-aggressively bullied online. Went here for lunch with a group of 3 and our bill with tip was over$100. That's the first negative. We had the spring rolls which were not traditional obviously not by price or make up. They fell apart and were not filled adequately with the proper fillings. We also tried the fried rice which was undercooked and had no real flavor. Now the worst was the pho. Small bowl very strange taste and they didnt give us the bean sprouts peppers or lime on the side, everything was in it. A few weeks back, my husband and I saw Q Restaurant on Check Please. Enticed by how close it was to our home, we made sure to stop in. Unfortunately, we had to wait several weeks, as COVID-19 made dining out impossible. Well, it was worth the wait!! There is something very special about the menu at Q. It is very thought out and unique. This is not Panda Express or Americanized Chinese cuisine. It's so much MORE than that. The Vietnamese and French flair is very prevalent. In regards to the cocktails, there are a lot of bartenders, but mixologists are few and far between. Just like the food menu, the cocktail menu is wonderful and fresh (and not over-priced). We had dinner here this past weekend and as usual service is never the greatest but we continue to go to support local business and the food was always good & consistent. However, this past visit was beyond the normal 'rude service' we were used to getting. I'm not sure why the owners of the establishment just don't hire proper servers to provide better service to its customers. I'm not sure if the lady who served was the owner but she was so rude. We ordered the pork stir fry and it came out on a huge plate with a very small portion of pork. The portion looked so ridiculous that we mentioned it to our server because we had ordered the same dish before and the portion was definitely larger in the past and she proceeded to lecture us on cost of pork in the grocery store actually asking "...do you know how much pork cost now? That is 8 ounces of pork." Honestly it was hard to even believe our dish contained 8 ounces of thinly sliced pork. My response after my initial shock was to tell her to then raise the prices of the dish, indicate ounces of pork on menu or better yet maybe serve it on smaller plate so it doesn't look like it was leftover from someone else dish. It turned into an ugly loud exchange middle of the restaurant. I am willing to just forgo rude service if the food is good but the entire experience has turned me off to the restaurant. I still left 20% tip because the tall gentleman that also service our table was unbelievably nice, helpful and attentive and I didn't want him to lose out on the tip. They should just have him act as the server. The food is good but at the end of the day when we go out to eat we are looking for the experience and this establishment falls short by hiring family members that should not be working in the service industry. When our server can't be bothered to explain the menu, answer questions or just outright rude to customers that is not acceptable especially if the restaurant is trying to set itself as a higher end establishment. -------------- This is in response to the owners comment below- your response just serves my point! That was actually my third visit and our bill was $200 before tips for the 4 of us so obviously we had more then the pork stir fry to "share". We will never return, it's obvious that you don't care about your customers. Our friends chose this place, since it was quiet the last time they were here. We hadn't seen each other in years and wanted to catch up. We were taken by surprise when after our appetizer came, musicians started playing loud music, including one with a trombone. It's a small place, and we were the farthest table from the music. Although we normally enjoy music, we were all upset that we could not hear each other talk, but the owner said it was their music night (it was a Friday) and she would not ask them to play more quietly. They need to let customers know about their music night on their website. --In response to the owner's response below: I don't see anything on your site about a facebook page, so we would not have known. It was one of my friends (not my husband), who responded angrily, "Do not contradict me," after you told him the music was not too loud. He's a musician and has directed orchestras and ensembles for about 30 years. He knows how music can be adjusted to become quiet, pleasant dinner music. It was only after you told us we had to leave, because you were so offended by our request, and had started taking our plates, that our other friend responded, "We won't be paying the bill then." The other guests you referred to were 3 other tables. This was prime time (6:30) on a Friday night. Have others learned to avoid Fridays? Can you say extremely overpriced? There are tons of Asian restaurants in Chicago metro area that are way better for food and not an arm and a leg. There are places nearby that arent as pretty but not worth Q's mark up. They might cut it in Streeterville or the Wesr Loop but not out in western burbs. The tempura batter was 100% lacking. The " noodles" with shrimp & scallop was a birds nest poorly executed. The soup was double the price of my fave Chinese restaurant with 2 of the smallest meatballs in won ton ever. The banana bread pudding tried to upscale with cream & jelly on side...come on....this isnt a 5 star restaurant. The absolute worst thing? I wrote my first 5 star review two years ago and have been to Q many times since. I have never been disappointed. Until yesterday, I avoided the Ahi entre because of the ingredients, ginger and wasabi. However I decided to give it a try. What a mistake! I lost two ears of my life without experiencing the best Ahi dinner ever. The perfectly trimmed steak was topped with a drizzle of a wasabi/mayonnaise mixture. It was a beautiful presentation, and the flavor was even better. The Ahi came with awesome glass noodles and Asian vegetables that had just a hint of ginger. We tried the Mayonnaise Seafood Rolls as an appetizer and they were delicious. For dinner I had the Seafood Lover which was amazing as well. My mother had the Pepper Steak which she liked. I live up in Edgwater Beach where Thai and Sushi places are about every 4 feet so I'm pretty judgmental when it comes to Thai. The restaurant was very clean and nicely spaced for our post-Covid distancing. My Father isn't a fan of Thai but we had him try the Sesame Chicken after explaining Thai isn't drenched in Americanized sweet and sour sauce anyway, he ate almost the whole plate. We also had the Shrimp Egg Rolls - so good we placed another order for our table. And the Staff suggested a mayo roll that was also good. I played it safe with Tofu Pad Thai I wanted to make sure it wasn't sopping in oil and it was great- wonderful spice with a bit of heat, fresh raw julienne veggies top and so fresh. I took all the leftovers home. We also shared the Shrimp Fried Rice and it was wonderful with huge shrimp. We really enjoyed it. If it were closer I'd definitely stop in again. This was our first experience at Q recommended by my son and his girlfriend, who has been here several times already. We arrived at 5 Pm and were offered a Martini Flight Special that runs from 5-7 Pm. Both owners are mixologists along with hostess waitress and cook. They cover it all and can answer any questions regarding the food or drinks. Absolutely try the spare rib appetizer. Roughly 8-9 nice sized ribs prepared with a side of spicy corn spread. In addition we tried their version of a spring roll that had a wonderful crunch to it. My wife had the pepper steak which was not spicy and was quite tender. I went with the traditional pad Thai that was just excellent. The portions are generous and I filled up quickly. The owner and hostess Lee asked about anyone having food or peanut allergies so they are cognizant of that. What I thought would be my dessert was a drink they call Coffee Monday and it's loaded with Bailys, disarranto, amaretto, whipped cream and a few bits of chocolate. We finished with a generous piece of chocolate cake with sides of whipped cream and sliced strawberry. The bill for four of us was under 150.00. This is a hidden gem stuck behind the Starbucks so it's easy to miss. If you are looking for some Asian fusion on the south side absolutely go treat yourself. read more

We've dined with this place for a few years, so I'm disappointed to have to write this review. First, I believe we were double charged for our order. Second, and most importantly, the vegetable pad thai portion of the order was terrible. It amounted to a pile of clumps of noodle bits. The pieces were no larger than an inch. It appeared that someone had given us what was scraped from the bottom of a pan. When we called about it, we were met with attitude and dismissal. A fabulous place. We go here for special occasions and when we want to have a nice relaxing meal with friends (we likely stay too long -- about 2 hours). We see people dressed very casually there and also people who "dress to dine." Our recommendations: Lemongrass Spring Rolls and Lapin for appetizer. The Red Snapper is fantastic if you like fish prepared this way (I do!). We also enjoy the Seafood Lover (seafood with red curry goodness) and Sea Bass. My wife enjoys the green curry with pork -- it reminds her of our time in Southeast Asia. The owners and servers are always very accommodating. They will make good recommendations and from our experience will answer any question, from banal to imaginative, one might have about the food. This place is sophisticated without being pretentious. Some may find this place a bit too expensive to take a child, but we've taken ours before; however, it is definitely a good "date night" place when you get a sitter. We love this place and have never had a poor experience. My only slight criticism is the wine list could either be a bit more adventurous or a price reduction on some of the more common wines. I would just like to say that the review Ruth W. gave below is a total FABRICATION of what really happened. Let me share with all of you what really happened, upon arrival my boyfriend and I were greeted at the door!! We then, were escorted to our table which just so happened to be not even 4 feet away from RUTH W. and guests. At that point I didn't really think anything of the situation. My boyfriend and I, shared a wonderful appetizer "spicy shrimp rolls" and both ordered a drink. I had the Red Sangria which was probably some of the best fresh sangria I've ever had. We also ordered a martini which was excellent and the mixologist was very attentive to our needs and wanted to know if we were enjoying her creation!! She was so sweet. We both ordered our dinner & enjoyed a nice conversation....until we started to hear a disturbance coming from the table next to us!! We could tell, not only were WE bothered, but the rest of the patrons in the restaurant trying to enjoy their meals were as well. Not, only was this table extremely rude to the kind waitress waiting on them, but one woman (who I am assuming is the one leaving the review) took it upon herself to raise her voice loud enough so everyone could hear. "This is the worst restaurant, terrible service" blah blah. She was upset that at a fine dining restaurant the option of splitting the check was not available. Also, they had a table over 6 people, where gratuity was added. Anyone, who has fine dined before would understand that concept. The one gentleman at the table threw a fit- said they tip at their own discretion so they wouldn't be paying the $20 dollars they were short!! I was utterly mortified. I almost reached into my own purse and gave them the $20 because I was just shocked that this behavior was happening. Another individual from the table, chimed in asking for a military discount saying they had military members at the table. The waitress replied with, "I'm sorry, we don't offer that". At this point, I was about ready to blow. I come from a military family, my brother is active overseas serving this Country, my grandfathers served, as well as other family members and friends. I was just taken aback. From my own experience with my family, none have ever asked for a handout, that was completely upsetting to me. I am grateful for your service, but do not use that in a situation like this, especially as certain members of the group are being extremely rude to the waitress. Then, RUTH W. (I'm assuming, the very vocal one) chimed in saying the waitress needed to hurry because they have kids at home...great lady then if you are in such a time crunch don't choose to go out to dinner next time. The world doesn't revolve around your life. Following that statement, another woman at the table chimed in saying members at the table had "duty tomorrow", not sure where these individuals were reporting to duty at..seeing as they were out in Orland Park, IL AT almost 8 o'clock at night....again not the staffs issue. They make their food fresh, this isn't fast food takeout. Honestly, I thought I was on an episode of "What Would You Do" waiting for the cameras to pop out of some corner. If I feel bad for anyone, it is the restaurant staff. Overall, my boyfriend and I had such a wonderful experience with great food and lovely staff, it's a shame these silly adults had to ruin the experience towards the end. Jokes on this particular group though, because once they left, it seemed like all the other patrons dining shared the same feelings as I did, I can speak for everyone remaining in that restaurant when I say I found your behavior tasteless and classless!! Q has been our local go to restaurant, since our first visit. The cocktails are the best I've had, and the food is always delicious. We have our favorites of course, but we try out a different one along with the favorites every time, and they have always been excellent. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. I finally tried Q after hearing great things about it from friends, and it exceeded my expectations. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful decor and ambiance. The restaurant is spacious and gorgeously decorated. The martinis were fantastic. And the food took center stage. I tried the avocado egg rolls, spicy tuna, and the Vietnamese noodle soup for my main course. Also tasted the vegetable fried rice and penang curry. The dishes were all delicious! Been there 8 to 10 times and it's delicious. Consistently delicious. Never had a complaint about a thing there. It's kind of a hidden gem that's hiding in plain sight. I am lucky that everyone in my family loves to Yelp. My one daughter found this restaurant on Yelp, another daughter and my wife did the initial visit and this past weekend, I got to benefit from all that research. My wife and I came here for an early dinner and it was one of the top five meals of my life. I started with Summer sea rolls which were the best shrimp roll I have ever had. So fresh and delicious I may never be able to eat them anywhere else again. Be sure to add the sauce for even more of a taste sensation. I then enjoyed the Wonton soup, exquisite with a very different and fabulous flavor. We were two for two and then I received my perfect entree of Sea Spice, scallops and lobster done to perfection. For dessert we shared an amazing banana bread pudding with white chocolate and raspberry coulis. It was so perfectly blended that I was quite happy when my wife was too full and abandoned the rest of the dessert to me. All this tasty perfection has a price. You have high quality food in a serene and elegant setting with attentive and perfect service. This does not come cheap. But it is the meal of a lifetime. 5 well deserved stars. read more

What an utterly disgusting disappointment of a dining experience! The minute we walked in, it gave off bad vibes and was pretty downhill afterwards. The place oddly does not feel welcoming. Had the "Qlamari" and avocado egg rolls, which were fried and really greasy. The only redeeming thing was the spicy sauce that came with the appetizers. Decided to go with the sea bass and my aunt went with the red snapper. The fish actually tasted rubbery, and the red snapper was way too fishy. After taking a few bites we informed our waiter that we didn't really like the dish. He was very aloof and didn't care the least in our concern. We were so disappointed with the dining experience and after we requested the check, we asked to speak with the Manager. the waiter came back with the bill, which we paid for despite our dissatisfaction with the meal. He then came back 10 minutes later and asked how he could help us. I asked again to speak to the Manager, and he proceeded to inform me that he himself was the manager!! I knew he was lying, but out of respect I went on to inform him again about our dissatisfaction with the meal, and his pure lack of concern regarding patrons' complaints. He then went on to state that we already "messed up the meal" and there was nothing he could do! I felt incredibly insulted. I mean i've been to a few places where I expressed my concern about the meal, and usually the staff were gracious enough to offer to at least remove the item from the bill or offer complimentary dessert, or whatever. This man not only insulted our intelligence by blatantly lying about being the manager, but also didn't care the least to rectify our disappointment with the meal. I informed him that I was not happy with the experience, and that I would write a review on yelp, yet he didn't even care. If I could give this place negative or zero stars I would!! Jeez, I can't even understand how these people are in business. The prices are high, and the service is disgusting. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Update to owner: I'm so glad that your response to my review is showing your true colors of how you run your business. Now this temperature scene did not happen with us, so you're either fabricating this scenario or our situation has happened several times so you can't keep your stories straight. Which by your reviews, you have made people leave your restaurant on a few occasions. If you read my review correctly, I said we waited for our appetizer for 25 minutes and additional 50 minutes for our entree. That's a total of 75 minutes, in which we were there from 7:00-8:30. We are not naive, we understand dinner rush, but it shouldn't take over 45 minutes to serve an entree with only 5 tables total. In addition, I said ethics and not ethnics. Perhaps you should look up what ethics means, because you are not an exemplar business owner and should fix your attitude and agenda towards patrons. We will gladly eat elsewhere with owners and staff who will treat their patrons with the utmost respect read more

We have been to q several times over the last few years. Some of the dishes are excellent. Today for lunch I decided to try their won ton soup. The waitress brought a bowl of vegetable soup that didn't resemble any won ton soup I had ever seen. I kindly stated to the owner that this soup was not what I expected and that I did not wish to eat it. She said. You ordered it so I cannot take it off your bill I can wrap it for you. Followed by you probably only have won ton in Americanized Chinese restaurant. So if you like being treated like a second rate citizen. By an owner not even rude employee. Go for it read more

Quee and her sister Ellie are amazing and run a fabulous restaurant. Their cuisine is top notch and the service is second to none. They work hard and it's a shame that ignorant, belligerent cheap people come here trying to get free food, cause a scene and give them a bad review. I'd tell these people to not come back. No one has time in life for drama and negativity. We eat here weekly and everything about this establishment is excellent. read more
