OMG! So this place is like the bomb. I mean like THE bomb! (: The carnitas are to die for. They are super packed with flavor and are the best in Old town Placentia. The carne sada is also wonderful. Juicy, tender, flavorful. mmm....The bread tastes as if it was just made. Warm and fluffly ,soft, and just fantastic. The sauces makes me want to jump for joy.I've tried pretty much everything and am impressed in what I taste. The drinks are nice and cool. With just the right ammount of ingredients in it. The tortias are so good I think they must be made fresh everyday :D My family and friends are hooked on this steller place. This place is so good, if it were to close, I would probaly drop dead. After reading the reviews, I decided to swing over to Q Tortas and give their carne asada burrito a try. The meat was a bit tough and chewy and lacked a flavor even though there was a good deal of it. When your meat is not seasoned and browned enough it has that off putting cow aroma that I found bite after bite. I did think that their red salsa was very full of flavor and one of the better ones I have tasted. The fact that they give it to you in a little container with a spoon was novel and neat. I guess it keeps people from dripping salsa all over the tables. Unfortunately it was not enough to salvage my burrito. I plan on taking a couple more trips here and trying some more items because I have a feeling that I was missing something in that burrito. But just from the burrito, I would have to say that there are better. read more

Yikes, the first 2 star review. Disclaimer: I'll admit, I probably came at a bad time, ordered the wrong thing, and had a bad day, but the food here was pretty bad and not filling. Coming here at around 8pm on a Sunday night when they're just closing meant no seating and having people anxious to go home make food quickly. I ordered the Chorizo torta, because for some reason I was in the mood for chorizo, some chicken taquitos, and horchatas. It wasn't a good experience, and it left me running to the bathroom soon after. Chorizo was too greasy and salty, the taquitos were super hard and drenched in this sub par green sauce. Horchatas were fine as they were, I guess, but it came from a drink fountain (as in, I don't think they could have made the horchata WORSE). We failed to read the reviews in detail 'til we sat down. The menu looked huge, but simple and very wallet friendly. There's a caricature of a chef cooking a smiling pig in a cauldron, stuffing said pig down or stirring him with his wooden cooking spoon. Carnitas. Got it. Where are we again? Oh yes. Q-Tortas. Tortas. Done. Carnitas Tortas it is. And how! Their version of the Mexican sandwich has refried beans at the bottom of the bun; bread reminiscent of Philly Cheese Steak rolls. Then it's piled with copious amounts of carnitas. I just don't understand how it's neither dry, nor juicy, but a dynamite of simple flavor. An explosion of TNT goodness. Boom. Able to knock down condemned buildings in a single hit. Memorable are the carnitas and their hot red sauce. In fact, I may change it to five star rating later if I can't find anything comparable. Oh golly, that's some good stuff. The smiling lady at the counter was extremely pleasant too! probably just my frame of mind the day I ate here recently, but I swear they gave me a side of chips (corn tortillas they had cut up and friend right then) that was still hot and I want to go back for more. I've eaten here before and liked it a lot, but this time was review worthy. Ordered 2 hard shell tacos which were GIGANTIC. Yes I ate them both, but could have been seriously overstuffed with just 1- it was really that big. The bag they gave me was heavy! I got to save half the chips and the side of beans I ordered for later. I did eat half the chips, they were hot and irresistable. The salsa they gave with was great too. I've had burritos there and they are always giant as well. A good place to go for great, quick Mexican food and the person who served me was friendly and informative. read more

Best carnitas torta I've ever had!! Goes great with an ice cold horchata. You can never get sick of the food here. Not sure if they accept credit cards, I would always pay cash and never noticed. If You're a "Gringo" who dares not go further south on Bradford Ave. than Yorba Linda Blvd, stop reading right now and go back to Baja Fresh. This place is one of the BEST places to get real, down-home style Carnitas for a price that doesn't kill your wallet. They've got it all too, Tortas, Burritos, Tacos, the works. Family owned and operated (I went to High School with their kids) since the day it opened, Q Tortas is awesome. I have to agree with everyone else that's said it's hard to decide between this place and El Farolito, but the food is just as good if not better and for half the price. The only drawback to that being that it is a quick service restaurant. But hey, if you're in a rush there's always the drive through. Make sure you have your fork and spoon ready to distribute even amounts of LETTUCE, CREMA, GUACAMOLE and SALSA with every bite you take. trust me. it is da B0mb. mad flavorful. 3. Once you are done, you will prolly have extra lettuce crema, guac and red salsa left over. Placentia has been my hometown since 1993 and yet whenever I go to Santa Fe Old Town, I feel like a foreigner (and the only yellow guy around)! Ever seen the sumo wresting lineup on NHK? The menu is very much like that as others have noted. But after a review, it's not too hard to figure out what is what. There were some things that I had to Google back home since my awesome Spanish 3 skillz didn't help me understand what it is "chicharon" (pork rind) and "adonada" (??? help me out here). Did you all know that Q Tortas was named one of the top ten in Orange County? Of course you didn't cause like the rest of Placita Santa Fe (old town placentia) it's rather hidden. First off the Q Tortas sign is a man mixing a pot with a pig sitting in it smiling. It's super fun. This is an awesome place to grab some fast food with the proper amount of oils, juices, seasonings smashed into the food. I did a film shoot there once and the owner was totally cool about the whole thing. They also have a drive thru, a walk up window (you know it's rad when they have a walk up window and some random round tables outside) Get Hungry, Drive Up, get some Tortas, and be happy! read more

I have been coming here for years and things have been affordable till now. I understand inflation and price of goods go up, but I don't understand a 40% mark up on a small burrito that barely has any meat. This place was never great, but good for what it was. They now want to charge $10 for a chicharron burrito that doesn't fill you up? Carnitas are just okay, to be honest; Northgate is down the street and you can get a full pound $10 and it taste way better. Disappointed in you guys marking things up just for a mark up out of no where. If it was a big burrito or something special about it, but in this case it's just basic. In N Out didn't even raise their price much. You can get a double double combo for under $9 still. If you would have raised your burrito up a $1, I would understand. Ambience: 2 Taste: 2 Bang for Buck: 3 Service: 4 Wow Factor: 2 Fatty Meter: 3 So, my wife and I walk in yesterday and keep in mind that it's 95 degrees plus outside, but it feels even hotter inside their building. No ventilation and no air conditioning. On top of that, their Orange Bang was lukewarm. We ordered a couple flautas, the asada burrito and the asada torta. Their meat was super dry and the burrito had about 75% frijoles... Not impressed... This is one of those times where you wanna believe the hype so badly... So I ordered a carnitas taco to give them a second chance. It was slightly more moist than the asada, but nothing spectacular. The prices are affordable and the service was good, but at the end of the day, if your food isn't good, it's not worth our time. One bright spot however was that their hot sauce and guacamole was pretty darn tasty. I probably won't be coming back here. I'd rather eat at Taqueria De Anda or Alberto's and that's not saying much. read more

This is honestly the worst food I've ever had. Came here with my boyfriend as part of an assignment for a class. I was expecting a lot from this place because of the glowing reviews. What I didn't expect was that immediately after eating we would be puking the food. I eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants and the place is by far the worst. Service was crap and the food might have had crap in it! We both ordered tortas and some tacos. Our bread was stale and rubbery. The sauces used in both the tortas and tacos was disgusting and watery. The chicken in our tacos, despite being drowned in their dishwater sauce was flavorless. How does that happen? Lets talk about the restaurant itself, I came in here and it was empty. Dead. I figured that with no one there service might be good? Hell no! Aside from being in a very shady neighborhood (or at least for this small town boy), it was the best torta I had... but then again I'd only had one other back in Burbank at a stand that has since closed down according to my mom. Definitely one of the saddest texts I ever received. And now a moment of silence for it. :( Anyway back to Q-Torta, I ordered the carnitas torta. I very much enjoyed my torta as it was quite flavorful and the price was relatively low. It had salsa and other Mexican ingredients in them. It was under $4 without tax. My only gripe was that my water was filled probably 3/4 of the way with ice but I don't think that warrants a whole star off. Oh, Mamacita! It's been a long time since I had the pleasure of stuffing my tortilla hole at this wonderful little place. Their carnitas is probably the best I've ever had. The refried beans are so freakin good. I'm choking up just thinking about 'em... w-wait, I n-need a minute.... Ok.... phew! I'm back. My good buddy Tim R. showed me the way to Q-Tortas back in the late 70s or early 80s... not sure exactly when, things get kinda foggy from that era. I then guided all my brothers to this place shortly thereafter. It is now legendary among my family and friends. My oldest brother made a trip back to OC from Texas in the mid 90s. I was living in Austin at the time and he called one day and asked, "Guess where I'm standing right now?" Of course I said, "The middle of the freeway?" Heck, all I could hear was wind and the sound of passing automobiles. And then I said, "Don't freakin tell me you're at Q-Tortas. You Bastid!" Anyway, that's how much we love Q-Tortas. My fave was to order a coupla carnitas tacos and a side of refried beans. The red sauce was delicious, but watch out! It sometimes had the tendency to burn you at both ends. I know it will sound miserly of me, but I always split my tacos into two. Since they made their tacos with two small corn tortillas, I'd divvy-up the contents between the two tortillas and get two for one. Maybe add a little more onion and cilantro and ladle on the red sauce. Mercy! Thank the lord above for pork and lard! Jesus, what would we do without 'em? read more

So, I totally found this place because of yelp, so I thought it would be fitting to do my first review of it. As far as I'm concerned they make the best carnitas burrito I've ever had. Like if I could make delicious carnitas like they do at home, and then perfectly assemble my own burrito this would be it. I've tried the tortas too, which are also pretty good, but it's hard for me to pass up that burrito. I know other reviews say the red sauce they serve it with is like crack, and they're right, I always ask for extra. I've totally gotten friends and family hooked on this place too. The only strange thing, is the drive thru is on the wrong side when you pull up, like the window is on the passenger side. So either, bring someone with you, do the best lean across you can manage, or just get out and go inside real quick. The chicken tacos are orgasmic in my mouth - I don't know what they cook the chicken in, but damn it's good. My husband and brother-in-law swear by the carnitas, and another favorite drunken food is the chips and cheese. This is nice little local place to get a torta. They serve other things, but torta is right in the name, so why deviate? Plus, I love some tortas. Went here with a friend, I got a carnitas torta and she got adobada. The adobada was excellent, but I will say I thought the carnitas was a bit dry, and I ordered them specifically on the good word of other yelp reviewers. But I didn't really think they were that great. The rest of the torta was great though, the bread was fresh and the salsa on the side was good too, which was a boon to the dry carnitas! I would go again, but I would get the adobada myself next time. Plus, prices are good and so is the horchata! I think it was $13 for two tortas and two drinks. Q-Tortas lies off the beaten path in Placentia. I ordered the carnitas torta and a large horchata. $6.20. And because I was extra hungry from my workout, I ordered a pork tamale @ $1.75. The carnitas torta came on sort of a long roll type bun instead of the hamburger type buns I'm used to. Good tastes but it could have used more seasoning/spice. The red sauce is a nice complement to the food but in terms of flavor it's average. The horchata was creamy and rich. None of that cheap powder crap. The tamale was, well, a tamale. I haven't eaten very many so I don't have a good basis for comparison. I liked that the food here isn't very greasy like at some other fast food Mexican restaurants. Dude what's up with the crummy exit? You either have to go through the drive-thru or exit against the one-way street from which you entered. Also the menu inside is visually distracting. It's like a sports game-series bracket. What happens if the carnita torta loses out to the asada torta? Who do I pick for the wild card slot? I'm so confused! I have been eating at Q-Tortas (Tortas') for years! My sister & I almost got the tattoo of the Mexican Man boiling the pig-their logo - on our butts to symbolize how it got so big!!!) Upon entering, I was greeted by what i presume is the owner in a very, not another order; I just want to go home kind of greeting.
