The carnitas torta was delicious. Kind of sweet, reminded me of a chinese bbq bun, and not a lot of fat. For some reason I think this may be a more authentic style torta, not slathered with mayo and cheese and all that, but what do I know. i got it with no beans, and this didn't make me feel guilty after eating it. I have been wanting to try this place out for a really long time, and last night, i finally got my chance. though it was kinda disappointing. i ordered the Carne Asada Torta, Carnitas Taco,and Jamaica i was going to order the flan too, but they ran out :( I tried a a piece of Carne Asada, and Carnitas before i bite into my food. they were pretty good, but a little on the over done side. Then i bite into my taco, OMG, their salsa is HOT!!! i'm a super light weight when it comes to spicy food, but it was so spicy, it pretty much numbed my tongue for the rest of my meal :/ the bread they used for their torta is AMAZING, it's warm, soft and yummy, I'd definitely go back for that, but would probably ditch the salsa. The Jamaica i had was on the sweet side, but they're very good at not giving you too much ice ( I end up asking for more ice, cuz it was so sweet). Over all, the Torta is definitely their specialty, especially the bread. If you love spicy food, this is the place to go , but otherwise, be warned. read more

All you need to know is the "Carnitas Tortas" (4 stars). Everything else like the chicken tacos, tostitas, and carnitas tomale were average. Also, I expected the Buenelo Frittas to be in the shape of a ball but it was flat. Not bad tasting tho. A little girl throwing up all over her face and the entrance to the restaurant while I was in the middle of my lunch did not help with the review. Order in English or Spanish. This place isn't much to look at but they have decent Mexican food. I don't care for the fries even though they give you a lot they are usually greasy and soggy bu the time i dive in. Basically this place is good for their name, "Tortas"...everything else is average or tid-bit above average. Came here last night after reading some of the positive reviews here. Left satisfied, though not thoroughly impressed. The price blew me away. I ordered a carnitas torta (per the countless recommendations), a chicken, carnitas, and asada taco (one each) and a medium Jamaica. Only paid $10.49! Loved the carnitas. Call me gringo, but like a few others have mentioned, the torta could have used something other than meat, beans, and salsa. Lettuce and some mayo would have made it perfect. Their spicy red sauce was just spicy enough to enhance the flavor of the food, rather than overwhelm it. The asada was decent, but their chicken was too weird. It had a tomato sauce covering it that didn't work too well. The Jamaica was as good as any I have had elsewhere. I was disappointed to walk in and find that they didn't have any of the less common cuts of meat for their tacos. I have tried lengua, cabeza, and tripas at other taco stands, and while I probably would never crave them, seeing those options on the menu usually means that you are in for a truly authentic experience. Next time I will try the El Farolito place down the street and see how they compare. read more

I have been eating at Q Tortas since the mid eighties. There used to be at least 2 other locations (including way out in Silverado) but I believe this is the only one left. The food is not gourmet or particularly authentic but I don't care that isn't why I come here. This is gabacho friendly Mexican-American fast food and if you come here with those kind of expectations you will probably do alright. The bean and cheese burrito is massive with great frijoles and velveta. Salty and savory and comes in a fresh tortilla as well. The carne asada tacos are a must...the meat is diced small a bit tough and well supported with moderately hot pico de gallo. The tortas are well stuffed and satisfying and their bread is really good. It is all fairly cheap and the quantities are excellent especially the burritos. It can get very busy here sometimes especially in the drive through. We used to come at lunch during high school and only had time enough to drive, order and pick up. We ended up eating all through 5th period much to the annoyance of my biology instructor. The wait can be 20 minutes+ in the drive through and the window is on the passenger side. Also be aware this place closes at 8PM. If you get over too late you can hit El Farolito or Tlaquepaque as both are within 100 yards either way. read more

This review is for the service on the drive thru,,went yesterday on my lunch, pull in drive through, and there was 1 car ahead of me, so I figured cool, only one car,so I waited , and waited and waited 25 minutes later I was still waiting for the other car to leave so I can place my order!! I decided to put my car in reverse And leave this damn place, (luckily there was no one behind me)so now I'm back at work and didn't even get to eat anything!!after a 25 minute wait!!! This is not only one of our spots but a long time family favorite! It may be in the heart of Placentia and not in the best of town, but it does have some of the most delicious tacos and burritos. Been eating here since the 80's and nothing ever changes, the food is just great. Ground beef tacos are a must, carne asada burritos, the hot sauce is to die for. YUM, YUM, YUM is all I can say. Whenever I read good reviews for a place this bad, I often question humanity. I have no problems with hole-in-the-wall places. If anything, I often cherish them. But this place is so bad in so many ways, I do not understand how anyone could give a review above 2 stars. The meat is fatty and flavorless. The salsa is pathetic. The drivethru is backwards. They only take cash. Like any cult following, sometimes a place is popular simply for the sake of popularity. For better food, go around the block and hit up Taco Sabroso or Mi Casita. It is difficult for me to write this as this has always been our go to place for carnitas. We picked up 5lbs for Christmas and were disappointed that two lbs of it to be solid fat. ASADA TORTA IS THE SH*T! I'm so so so glad I found this place on Yelp. I've only had tortas in Mexico and so I was expecting a sandwich but it comes in more of a giant hot dog bun. The bun is nice and soft and the meat is so juicy and tender. They are generous with the meat! Under the meat are just the right amount of delicious beans and the whole masterpiece is topped with jalepenos and pico de gallo. The topping is so good! I think the jalepenos are pickled. So so so good! It comes with this red sauce that just makes it even better. I wasn't even that hungry when I came here but I gobbled it right up like a fat kid eats cake. The place is only open until 8 so make sure you grab your grub before then. The torta was only $3.95. What a steal! I sing praises of Q-Tortas. Makes me wanna get up and do the single ladies dance. My green chile pork burrito was as good as any I've had elsewhere. Lots of meat, juicy, good refried beans, really nice flavor overall. I would certainly get it again. David was disappointed in his carne asada burrito because the meat was chopped into tiny bits and he didn't find it very flavorful. Chips and salsa were both great - freshly made chips, crunchy, way better than generic restaurant chips, salsa with a nice kick to it but not overpowering. Also tried the flan, which was good, seemed like homemade. We waited a while to try this place, given its proximity to El Farolito, but we'll be back, maybe a torta next time. read more

I ordered the carnitas torta and it was pretty tasty. About half-way through I realized the magnitude of its meatiness and thought, "holy cow - am I going to be able to finish this?" But of course, I wasn't about to let the torta defeat me so the answer was, "you betcha!" Granted, we were pretty evenly matched. In my corner, a rather impressive ability to pack away the food.
