The one thing that changed my life around was TBell Studios. I decided to take a chance and go back to what I loved, acting. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved performing and figured this was my time, finally. I took TBell to master the craft and to focus on something that interests me; I've never felt so loved by a community. I started in the beginner's class with Suzanne. Suzanne has been such an integral part of my acting career. She helped me with the foundation and ensured I was applying the tactics necessary to put in my best work. It's a very intimate setting with not a single bad seat in the house. KDT has a small (donations recommended) bar with a few local beers. Side note...please don't be that person that takes a beer and doesn't bother to throw a few bucks in the jar. My wife and I would be more than willing to see another show here on our next visit to Dallas.

The theater is just a few minutes walking from my house, and I always pass it on my way to yoga. I finally made it to one of their Thursday night shows for the most recent production of Edward Albee's "The Goat/Who is Sylvia" (a wacky but sad story line involving a man's love affair with a goat). For those of you who don't know, Albee also wrote "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf." I was very pleased when i walked into the theater because it seemed to be a newly rennovated warehouse space with plenty of seating. Patrons were just hanging out and having wine and snacks in a little cafe area. There was an awesome art exhibit displayed with sculpures made of cigarette boxes and paintings, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the artist. It was just a cool space to hang out in before the show. A few minutes before show time, everyone lines up at the entrance of the theater. Once you get in, it's open seating. It's not very big (maybe 100 seats?) but almost every seat is a good one with no obstructions (ampitheatre style set up). The set design was surprisingly professional. The show was great, and you really get to feel the emotion (and this particular show was VERY emotional) becuase everyone is so close to the stage and the actors. I would just advise you to bring a coat or a sweater because the theater is chilly! I highly recommend this theater, particularly if you're into a more informal experience. You can walk in the day of the show and purchase a ticket, and the prices are right!

Isis Star Dance Studio is one of the biggest belly dance studios in the area, if not one of the…read morebigger studios in the US. The largest attend classes at this studio are Isis' cabaret style belly dance classes. They also offer Hula, Doubeck drum classes, children classes, usually one-two different cardio/dance related classes, and they will usually have a tribal belly dance class as well depending on demand for it at the time. As well they have various performance troops from their Wings of Isis, Isis' Professional Performing Company , The Drums of Isis, etc. Isis also has in studio workshops but they also host usually in August every year a huge belly dance weekend of workshop & performances called Yaa Halla, Y'all. This usually has workshops by big name dancers & drummers in the industry, as well as performances by those giving workshops, up and comers, as well as booths to buy costumes, drums, etc. It has been a while from the time that I've taken classes there so I can't really speak to classes currently. Which is why I can't allow myself to do more than 3 stars because I can't speak to current classes being offered. Yet many of my friends that I made when I was taking classes at Isis ... some that started before, at the same time, or after ... are still there and have or working their way in to the professional performance troops. They try to be as family friendly as possible. There are many mother daughter, sisters, husband and wives, that are all involved in the studio in one way shape or fashion. Go check them out, maybe attend a Hafla (best way to describe it is almost a recital mixed in with party) See about checking out a beginners class.

What made it amazing wasn't just the show itself--it was the incredible growth I saw in my son. His confidence, presence, and joy on stage left me in awe. Grateful for this experience and the impact Breitling continues to have on him!

As usual, a wonderful production by Shakespeare In The Park, Dallas. My only complaint is that they…read moredecided to place the story in Mexico, and therefore, had changed some of the lines into Spanish. An interesting concept, but I don't know why anyone would think they needed to change Shakespeare's writing!!! The Taming of the Shrew has been performed for over 400 years, so it didn't need any rewriting! The cast was excellent, and thankfully, they left alone some of the famous scenes like, the first meeting of Patrucheo and Katherine; and the famous "sun and moon" scene. Definitely a show worth seeing and a lot of fun for the whole family!
