This is a great grocery store. My husband and I go here every other day or so, and I have always found them to be friendly and helpful. There are one or two grouches who work here - but that is typical of any large business. It is quieter than most QFC's, but that means there are crazy good markdowns in bread and produce now and then. The food choice in general are good, and the deli counter choice rotate and I like them. I like going in there after work, I am tired and my feet hurt, but after running around picking out dinner, and having the clerk greet me by name when I check out, my spirits are lifted. Will miss this place when we sell our house and move in a few years. One more thing - one guy in the produce section gave me a tip on how to grow tulips and beat the squirrels who dig up the bulbs - worked like a charm. That is what that place is like. read more

My friend had her sweet 16th birthday party, and purchased a cake from here! It was DIVINE. Two layers of chocolate cake, with one layer of vanilla cake sandwiched in the middle. Then, two layers of chocolate ganache, and solid white/milk chocolate on the oustide. To finish it off, chocolate whipped cream smoothed around the edges. Delicious! A bit sweet, but wouldn't it be off if it wasn't? Her mother also purchased our next morning's breakfast from here: almond poppyseed muffins, bagels & cream cheese, and fruit (apples, grapes, and bananas). I had 1/2 a bagel, and it was great! Just how I like my bagels, soft on the inside, with a nice crust on the outside. QFC is so reliable! The next day, I ordered my homecoming date's boutinerre here. :D read more

After going to their deli counter for lunch dozens of times (merely out of convenience due to where I work), I am finally giving up on this place. There is ZERO quality control. No two employees seem to do anything the same way. I can't imagine this QFC does any sort of training before employees start. So, if you have a decent sandwich one day, do not expect for the exact same order to turn out the same way next time. Furthermore, one of their employees is downright rude. No costumer service, no quality control (you're a QUALITY food center for god sake). Where are the managers?? My advice to a deli clerk that is annoyed by having to make a sandwich... As of my writing of this review, I'm the duchess for check-ins. Here's the thing: we don't do our regular grocery shopping here. It is much too expensive for that! However, it is close to where we live, so we go by QFC to pick up something we missed at our regular weekly grocery shopping. All too often this means we stop by 3 to 7 times per week. If you can purchase the sale items, some of their items on sale are a really good price. They also have a large selection and have really expanded their "specialty" items (ie, kosher, gluten-free, vegan, etc.) This is another reason we stop by frequently, they do carry specialty items it can be hard to find unless you to go a specialty food store (ie, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, PCC, Madison Market, etc.). I have purchased from almost all their departments for various reasons. Their cake decorator is amazing. They regular stuff she provides is so fancy and intricate, and she really makes an effort on special orders. They floral department is hard to track someone down in and I've had only tepid customer service from them. It can be hit and miss with their cashiers. Some are bubbly and nice all the time, some can be moody (great sometimes, cranky others) and some obviously would rather work elsewhere. In general, lately they've been very friendly. They may have worked on their friendliness due to complaints about how very unfriendly they used to be. I have interacted with the management for various reasons (when I wanted to find a seasonal item, when I was trying to procure an item to take to my kids' school to demonstrate some science - I am a scientist after all). The management has always bent over backwards for me. I'm no one special, but they recognize me after just a single interaction and always greet me and are very helpful. They recently underwent a renovation, which allowed them to expand several sections, which is why they now have such a great selection of so many things. While I don't care for only being able to enter the store from the hard-to-find parking side of the lot, I do appreciate the new layout and new items in the store. Prices haven't changed. read more

I used to stop here a lot when I worked on the Island. Easy to pick up something for lunch or groceries before heading home. But the service is lacking and now I rarely stop anymore - I'd much rather stop in Bellevue. The fresh meat here is just disgusting, slimy and looks old. Even the seafood looks hideous. Although I come here for canned goods in a pinch or the bakery I would never eat anything fresh here. Not just that but the deli food looks like it sat there for a very long time.... Getting old and crusty. Gross. I have been a qfc MI customer for many years......30. The last 5 times I have bought beef at the market, it was gamey. I buy the tenderloin. They are always happy to give my money back, BUT that does not solve the disappointment at our meal. I won't ever buy beef again at QFC. You would think they would get better but no one really cares. Sadly, that is the problem at QFC.. People I am afraid I have to say, don't have the "I care " attitude. There is always a new person at the counter.. I'll be honest I'm not a big QFC and New Seasons will give them a huge challenge when they are open. (October 2015). That being said the store supports the community which is more than I can say for other business. George has always been there when called upon and will be there in the future as well. Yes the meat department has opportunities to improve but the can can only do the best with what they are provided by corporate as evidenced. Have a problem with QFC remember that it's part of Kroger a huge conglomerate. Your selections are determined by a pay to play philosophy. A prime example is the wine department that is filled with Kroger private labels and sugary wines. The liquor is provided by two distributors who sell nothing but what is on quota from these 2 companies. Again that being said they support the community and I buy my frozen and dry goods there. Ironically if you look at the 1 start reviews. They all come from people off the Island and look to bear an agenda. You have to understand what we're saddled with and that is a corporate dome driven beast and the reason for the 5 star review is for the people who work there who are extremely and professional and these changes came around with the changes in management. read more

Well my experience with this store has been pretty good until this morning when I needed help at self-checkout. I had 2 simple questions and all I got was some attitude from the lady. Worst ever experience in a grocery store. At checkout the checker handed me a paper bag leaking cooked chicken fat and said, "You're bag is leaking." (The checker had damaged the package during checkout.) I told the checker I didn't want a damaged product and then the assistant manager came up and put the leaking bag in a second paper bag and said, "That's as good as it gets," and walked away. The second bag did leak and it was a mess by the time I got home. Over the years I've forgiven the occasional rotted head of lettuce, bruised apples, sticky shelves and dogs the employees allow to be brought into the store. But when the assistant manager said "That's as good as it gets," I finally decided that I will never return to QFC. read more

My husband and I moved to Bellevue in 2012. After shopping the different grocery stores in the area, we found our favorite one here. This QFC, with its own parking lot, is located in downtown Mercer Island. It is well-stocked from the sushi bar to fresh produce. The employees are polite and helpful from the baggers (Teresa) to the register checkers (Reggie, Mathew) and dairy man, to the new store manager who is tall, kind and an excellent worker. This QFC has the BEST SUSHI CHEFS (Coco and his partner) within 10-mile radius presenting the well-stocked authentic sushi using top quality ingredients. The friendly sushi chefs will make your sushi to order if you prefer. It is a joy to shop here! read more

Now this is not a reflection on all the hard working QFC employees. I will first add a good mention to the deli. The deli rocks! Good customer service, I didn't buy much but what I did buy, and what I asked for the deli employee was more than accommodating. Deli work is hard, I used to work the one at Safeway. Now I had a very nice lady who was behind me pay for my soup I had about 80 bucks in my pocket but I really appreciated her kindness, in fact I didn't know what to do with myself I was that much in shock everyone! I don't have a very easy life I'm usually ignored & treated with minimal dignity to put it politely. My own family won't even treat me well. However, I do have an issue with one of the check stand employees who barely seemed to acknowledge me I will briefly give you a scenario. I am in the check out, the check doesn't give me eye contact. Nor does the check say any kind of greeting. while I was sitting in the seating area I couldn't help but overhear some of the employees ask others ( customers? unsure) how their Thanksgiving holiday was. I sure wasn't asked anything, not that I cared my holiday pretty much sucked but it would have been nice anyway. And, I noticed that with the exception of the very nice lady who bought my lobster bisque soup, this QFC seemed snobby to me, reminded me of when I used to eat lunch at the school cafeteria in Middle school & high school. I don't know but it seemed as soon as I went to sit down people all of a sudden got up & left. Know what I noticed? A young attractive couple went to sit at the counter a lady noticed me the all of a sudden they disappeared! Too bad I wanted to give them a hard time....hee, hee. No I wouldn't have bothered them. I shopped at this QFC location frequently. The store is cleaned and well stocked. The florals department is better than New Season. I do love shopping here so why do I rate two stars? Everyone there are generally very nice and helpful except for the one cashier woman with the Eastern European accent who belittle shoppers for trying to figure out how to use the self paid station. For example, I entered the wrong code for bulk carrots--dang, she gave me the riot act. Good lord, get her some customer service training! I still shop there but avoid interacting with her since she seems like she hates her job and frown anytime shoppers need assistance. read more

One of two grocery stores on the island. Too overpriced to do full on grocery shopping, I have gone there to grab an item or two, usually something I need for dinner, or a snack. They don't have the best selection for being one of two stores on a little island. The staff is a mixture of people who do their job, and people who go out of their way to be obnoxiously rude and offensive. I avoid this place at all costs, but sometimes I have to run to the store last minute, I may start going to the other store for that though. read more

When I HAVE to shop on the island, I go to the QFC on the southend end. It's a much nicer store, with WAY better service. Albertson's always smells like rotten food, and the northend end QFC has some of the consistently WORST customer service in King County. Especially the bakery, I will (and do) drive to Bellevue to avoid the hassle of trying to get any help at all at the bakery! Customers are INVISIBLE, I'm not making it up! I go in with friends, tell them to stand there and see how long it takes to get service. They all agree, people behind the counter don't even glance in your direction. Repeated service calls for help don't work, either - the employees simply won't be bothered to spend 2 seconds removing a dessert from the case. Years of this...wonder how many rotted cakes and desserts they must throw out...they certainly don't want to SELL them! read more

This QFC store is the WORST one. Today I bought a 200-dollar champagne as a gift. Alex, the wine guy, showed his reluctance eagerly to give me any introduction as if his mouth was glued. And when checking out, I found myself so lucky to meet with a stone-faced cashier playing cool. What a shame! read more

The crabs at QFC are divine - very meaty and super fresh! I was full after eating only half of a crab. Plus, they're open 24hrs so I can rely on them for late night "Where's the milk?" disasters! read more

This place is ALWAYS busy and NEVER has enough people working the front. It's really irritating that there are only a couple grocery stores on the island anyway but the "express lanes" are never open and they have 2 checkers. Time to invest in those self check outs you guys! read more

I, too, unfortunately, have to give this store a one star rating. After losing our beloved Albertson's store on MI, we have been forced to shop at our two local QFC's or go off the Island. I have taken to going off the Island. I agree that the store is lacking in customer service and the parking lot is down right dangerous! Now, if I need to pick up something small in the afternoon or evening, I drive down to the southend QFC just to avoid the parking debacle at the Northend store. I am a 35 year MI resident and, believe me, they don't go out of their way to welcome long time customers or any customer, for that matter. I only wish that the new store going in was a mainline grocer, not some new high-priced boutique grocer. We need another store offering national brands, fresh produce, fresh dairy, meat and deli. Help! Also, I have many, many Orthodox Jewish friends and their selection of Kosher dry goods and fresh items is middlin' to poor. Let's step it up, QFC, for our Jewish friends! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. On Saturday, October 3rd my husband and I stopped at QFC to pickup a couple items. We park in the handicap which is right by the door. We finished in about 10 minutes. Upon exiting the store there was a small shopping cart on my passengers fender of my new car. I moved it to find some marks and a small dent. I called the manager he took a picture the information etc. he said their insurance would be getting ahold of me in 3/5 business days. Yesterday their insurance company Kroger Corp. contacted me and they take no responsibility for the incident and believe the store and employees are not at fault. I guess it's ok to just leave shopping carts thru out the parking lot. Whoever was to lazy to put the cart back in the store should be tarred and feathered. QFC needs to get their act together and manage their store better to accommodate their customers. The store is to small the parking is to small and they cannot handle the influx of people that have moved to the island in the last 3/5 years. Their planning for growth on Mercer Island is lacking. One would think Kroger Mgmt. would have done better planning. For our community. I guess they just don't care. Next year we will welcome a new store and we are all looking forward to them joining our community. read more

This is probably the worst QFC you'll ever go to. I come to this store occasionally and 3 out of 4 times there's something upsetting with this place. A while ago I came here to buy lunch. I bought a lunchbowl from the fridge and needed to warm it up. There's a public microwave that is located in the seating area in front of the store. I was waiting for my turn to use it because somebody was warming up their food. Then when it was my turn to use it, one of the cashier who was probably on her break came up to me and said "did you even need to use the microwave" in a really mean tone as if I did something wrong. Why wouldn't I warm up a cold lunch box lady! Another instance was when I was there around closing time. I was the last person IN LINE, waiting to to be checked out. When it came to my turn, the Eastern European lady immediately walked away. I was shocked as fuck. I don't understand why she couldn't take me, the last person in the store, and finish her job. Also, the last time I was shopping at this store during their late night hours,I just about had it with this place. There's a rubber frog that you need to squeeze in order to get one of the night crew to come ring you up. So I squeezed it a couple of times and had to wait there for a while and nobody showed up. So I decided to look for a worker. I saw one of them and asked him if he can ring me up. The guy acted as if he couldn't understand me and basically didn't respond until the third time I asked him if he could ring me up. Then he proceeded to say "did you squeeze the frog?" No shit homie I did! So I told him yes. Then he asked me if there was anybody up there at the register. Smh. The intelligence level of this guy is concerning. Honestly, he seemed pretty lazy and racist. The worst QFC experience ever. read more

This is my primary grocery store on Mercer Island, although I also shop quite a bit at Costco and Trader Joe's (off the island). The store is clean and well-organized, with a good selection of almost everything. Fruits and veggies seem fresh. I rarely buy meat, so I can't say much about that, although the counter looks fine. The store can be busy during the daytime and weekends, but I often shop in the evening when it is not particularly busy (although a line might be encountered at the check-out due to a limited # of open lanes). The parking lot is large but can be close to full at busy times. It is, on average, more expensive than Costco and TJ's, but I often find sale items at great prices, which brings down my overall cost. I am probably savvier at finding good deals than the average shopper, btw. So, I'm generally pleased with my experiences at this store, but here is why I went out of my way to give it a 5-star rating... About a week ago, there was a special of $5 off when you purchase 5 specially designated items. I selected 5 items, went through the check-out, got my discount, and paid. When I got home, though, I noticed I had been charged (accidentally, I'm sure) for 3 pizzas when I really only had selected 2. Clearly, the scanner picked one of them up twice. The next time I was at the store, also in the evening, I presented my prior receipt to the manager, but I really had no proof that I only received 2 pizzas. I expected some tough questioning and wasn't sure whether I would get a refund... but the manager took my word for it and just refunded the correct amount. I appreciated that. I'll mention another small but positive thing: the store does not charge extra for paper bags. read more

The meat dept. had an erroneous sign, and the butcher was willing to honor it, and was preparing my order. He said to finish my shopping and come back and pick it up. I came back and there was a woman angrily asking "where is he, what does he look like!" I was pointed out by the butcher, and she said there was no way they could give me that price, it wouldn't scan. I asked to see the store manager, and she disappeared, he came down, never spoke to me and nobody told me what they planned to do. She finally came back, and quickly put my order in my basket all the while complaining about how this wasn't going to work at the register. I told her that they could get busted by weights and measures, and she said she wasn't going to argue, and she wasn't even supposed to be down there. Rude service, and no acknowledgement from the manager means I won't spend money there again. Her name is Natalie, I never got to speak to the manager but they both need to learn about customer service read more
