My daughter and I had Qmi for the first time last night. I was impressed by how large the restaurant was and how full of customers it was and more coming in behind me. I loved the tapestries on the walls and the Happy birthday song they played for a customer. I was sure the food would be great! My first interaction was with the manager/hostess. We made a take-out order. She sat us at a table and my daughter, and I chose from a large variety of dishes. only one gentleman came to ask for our order but, when we said it was take-out, he abruptly left us. He later kept brushing me off when I wanted to ask a question. He was not outwardly or aggressively rude. Just very dismissive. In about a 25-30 wait, I got to see how the management treats their employees. A young girl, only 17 (I asked) had made a mistake ringing up an order. The patrons had paid less than their bill and the manager/hostess was yelling at her, right in front of all the patrons standing by the entrance along with me and my daughter. The young lady offered to pay for the mistake. She retreived what money she had but, the manager/hostess said it was not enough. The young girl said she didn't have the full amount. can she bring it back later? No, the manager wanted it right then. Never mind that the patrons paid for MOST of the meal. She was forcing this girl to pay the FULL amount of their order. Through all of this, the young girl kept her composure, never raising her voice or acting out or being disrespectful. I was very impressed with her, I'll call her "K". I instructed the manager to return the girls money, and I would pay for the mistake. A young girl, just beginning, and this is how she is treated. In front of other customers. In front of lots of staff. In front of everyone. I made sure her money was returned to her before leaving. Somehow, I felt she would not get her money back. It was clear the manager had no intention of giving it back to her...until she realized I wasn't leaving until she did. I will not be patronizing this restaurant a second time. then, to add insult to injury, my food, which cost over $40., was not good. My sushi was poorly made. My daughters poke bowl looked like a plate of vomit, and tasted like there was no seasoning in it, from what she was willing to eat. Highly disappointed in this place. We don't usually go for all-you-can-eat sushi since we prefer ordering à la carte, but this spot was a nice surprise. Service was quick and laid-back, which made our lunch nice + easy. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and nicely arranged. We also tried the miso soup and steak fried rice, both were good additions to the meal. The sushi here for the middle of VA is pretty good. The service and actual restaurant area is just the opposite of appealing. The bathrooms had trash spilling out the garbage bins; there was no soap in the bathrooms and it smelled. I don't live in the bathroom so I could get over that. The waitress, left us hanging for like 10-12 minutes, no silverware or chopsticks or napkins until AFTER our plates arrived. I asked her co-worker to take over and he barely did that. The manager who was apologetic but not able to redeem the situation was bland and pase. I think this is a hot location for locals who may not have access to good food spots but, the service and the bathrooms and dirty tables in an empty restaurant was enough to turn me off. First time coming here. Felt weird doing it all you can eat sushi so I opted for the à la carte menu. My sushi and sashimi combo came with a small salad and cup of miso soup, both were acceptable. Sushi and sashimi tasted good. I wish it was slightly more food because I was really hungry. Still, it is a good value, and a better value in my opinion than the sushi you get from Kroger or Wegmans. I wish you could substitute out the California roll for something better, for the same price. Even with a 20% tip, I spent just $20 If you're from Seattle or Vancouver, or places where finding bad sushi is nearly impossible, then you probably would think this is a three stars out of five . I think this place is way better than it gets credit for on the reviews. Yelp Bestie and I came here at 11 o'clock on a Tuesday morning. We were seated immediately and our order was taken immediately as well. We started with a shrimp teriyaki with just vegetables and no rice from the kitchen, three sushi rolls for me And she ordered bang bang shrimp and one roll to start. Teriyaki shrimp and vegetables came very quickly. The shrimp was good, nice and juicy in my opinion. The teriyaki sauce was good and I loved the crunchy perfectly cooked vegetables I had with it. Our sushi took a little while longer to get there, but the Boston roll, the Philadelphia roll, and the tasty roll I ordered were great, it is definitely not traditional sushi like you would get in Japan, but it is a rather good version of Americanized sushi. (Yes, I like cream cheese on "sushi".) if you were into that kind of sushi, this place was reasonably good. It was fresh, tasty, and worth the price in my opinion. My second round was teriyaki chicken from the kitchen as well as a Crunchyroll, and they were both really good. The crunchy roll had slightly thick tempura batter on it, but I really liked the smokiness of it with the eel sauce and sweet chili sauce. My Surprising favorite was the tasty roll. This place is very similar to the place on hull Street, although it does have fewer options for some things. Not everything posted on the menu online was on the in-store menu, I would've loved some hibachi vegetables and cucumber salad, but the things we did get are definitely much closer than driving to Midlothian and reasonably priced. We also loved the decor since there are paper fans, and lanterns and umbrellas everywhere. I expect we will be back every time We are starving and wanting to do all you can eat sushi. read more

Surprised at the number of poor reviews. We are sushi people and have eaten plenty of excellent and bad sushi. $28 all you can eat for a menu with such a wide variety is simply an outstanding deal. The flavors of all the food we ordered were amazing. We had the clear soup, which had an untraditional spice that was a nice touch, hibachi options, which had great depth of flavor as well. As for the sushi options; they were very fresh and delicious. My visit was on the second day of their soft opening and the service was a little slow but I fully expect this to be greatly improved by the time they have their grand opening. I tried this place for the first time today. I got two rolls, a mango avocado roll and a shrimp cucumber roll. The mango avocado roll was delicious. However the shrimp cucumber roll was very lacking. First time eating there and I got food poisoning. First off, the vibe of the restaurant is ok. We have been there when it was the other 2 restaurants before this one and it seems like they left a bunch of the old decor up and put some of their decor over top and next to it. It's spacious which is nice but overall, meh. The food was okay but when I was eating my sushi roll that had spicy crab on it, something didn't seem right but I couldn't figure it out. I didn't want to waste because they have a policy of charging if there is too much not eaten so I finished it (wiped the imitation crab off though) It didn't taste bad, otherwise I would have complained there and not eaten any more. I had to leave early and go sit in the car to wait for my hubby and kids to finish. The next night I was in bed and it hit me suddenly, out of no where. Has to run to the bathroom and throw up over and over. My 13 year old was terrified at how quickly I was ok and then not. I had her bring me water but I couldn't stay hydrated. I realized the only thing I could do to get hydrated enough was to have an IV. It was so bad I had to have my finance call 911. I was vomiting and couldn't stay hydrated. I could barely move and my stomach hurt so bad. This happened the evening after our visit. I have had food poisoning before and I know what it feels like. I have had 3 babies with no medication, home births with a midwife. I say this to say I have a considerable high pain tolerance. I have never called 911 before and I am 41. I did look up how long it takes to hit after eating sushi and it said anywhere from a couple of hours to 24 hours. I didn't even have anything that was raw! Went in the ambulance to the ER. All they could do was give me an IV for hydration (thank God!) and meds for nausea. We went on a Sunday to eat and I went to the ER Monday night. It's Thursday now and I am still in so much pain. Nonstop cramping and pretty much bed ridden. If I get up the pain gets so much worse. The only thing keeping the nausea at bay is the meds. I've already lost 5 pounds because I can barely eat anything. If I eat, even applesauce, I am in so much pain. I don't know if it was contaminated food or someone not having proper hygiene and washing their hands after using the bathroom. Either way, this is not ok. My 13 year old and my hubby got sick too but not like me. My hubby vomited one time that Monday night and was lethargic for the next couple of days and not feeling 100%. My daughter got stomach pain and was out of school for a day and feeling tired also. Thank God my 3 year old and my 10 year old didn't have any sushi with meat on it. Both of them are fine. They only had the tempura chicken(which I did also) and they have never been affected. My 10 year old had sushi with veggies on it. Me, my hubby and my oldest all had sushi with meat on it and we got the food poisoning. Mine was considerably worse. I am not a person who goes after restaurants to try and give them a bad name. I generally don't even do a ton of reviews. I feel like I need to get this out there. They need the health department to come in or something. The manager was so nice to us while we were there. He gave my 3 year old a pretty necklace because he said she was so pretty. He offered us 2 free sodas in exchange for a review from each of us. I don't drink soda but we have two kids that always want to drink it because they get it for a treat every once and a while. So we obliged. Looking back now, I can't help but think there was an alterior motive to try and get more good reviews so the bad ones don't hurt them as much. I can't be 100% on that because realistically my view on all of it has been tainted with everything I've gone through since eating there. So use caution when going there and maybe, it's just best to go somewhere else. I know I will never set foot in there again. Very nice and clean restaurant, newly built too! Injecting a fresh vibe for chester :3 the staff is really attentive and the sushi is good. Fish is fresh and well prepared, with the typical assortment of rolls that you see anywhere and then also some unique presentations and select fish that are less common. We got the Hawaii roll, Titanic roll, lots of nigiri, and as much sashimi as we could without crossing over the sashimi limit. For 30 per person, I say it's well worth the visit read more

I never complain, especially about food and food service employees as I have worked in the industry for almost 5 years. But this place was absolutely horrendous. The sushi was just horrible. I couldn't even eat it. We sat here and watched as our food sat up there for over 20 minutes and our waitress was running around. Quite literally running. Mind you there is all of 8 tables and 6 waitresses. They are not busy. Our waitress barely looked at us when she talked to us and when she was talking, she was way to quiet to hear, and on top of that, she pretty much ignored us for the entirety of our stay. Our sushi was either falling apart or sticking together, not cut properly. It also did not taste good, it was way to salty, they only put one thing in the roll, and the fish on top looked slimy but tasted dry. How does that even happen? The wasabi was more like play dough and also looked like avacado that had been out in the sun for a day. The rice for our sushi was so hard it might as well have been uncooked. My friend and I get sushi at least once a week, and I would rather have gas station sushi and risk food poisoning than ever eat here again. The only good thing about this place was the music and the movies they had playing on the tvs. Please do not go here. I hope this place shuts down.
