Making this as short as possible. Got one quote. Person who solicited me handed me off to some co-worker. I ended up with some quote that looks like an 8 year old wrote it. Passed and used another contractor. Few months later get another quote. About 50% higher than anyone else. Tries to convince me they are worth 50% more. No you are not. After initial contact this company will literally hound you every so often. Showed up at my door at least 3 times since the last quote. Getting calls from various temporary phone numbers they set up. Just like spammers do. Told them several times to stop contacting me. They won't. read more

I've called him so many times no response. They don't care. They got their money and they bailed on me. Wow, if I had seen the ratings here, I would not have used them. So these guys actually do work all over the Bay Area too. Soon after we moved into our house in Fremont about 10 years ago, a sales person came by and convinced us to get solar. The math checks out as electricity was getting increasingly expensive, so we decided to go with it. Our system cost a total of about 42k or so, but after tax incentives came down to about 30k. Eventually they came and installation went fairly smoothly, and the system works fine mostly for the last 10 years. The panels (or installation?) are not very nice looking though compared to others I have seen. All in all would probably give it a 3.5/5 if that was the entire experience. The 2 stars rating overall is because of an updated engagement with them. A year ago we noticed some leak spots on the ceiling, probably from some recent large storms. We needed the roof fixed but need to remove the panels so roofers can access leaked spots. Since the panels were still under warranty, we reached out to quality first to have them help us remove some panels to fix the leaks. They sent out a sales person to us, which I thought was odd, I thought it should have been a support person or something. Turns out the sales person came out to negotiate a price for them to remove the panels. After giving us some quotes and going back on the phone again a few times with his boss, he finally gave me "lowest price" of $3200 to remove a handful of panels. I thought that was ridiculous, but was told only they could remove the panels or the warranty on the panels would be voided, so we had no choice but go with them. They eventually came by and removed the panels, which took less than 30 minutes. After we had the leaks fixed, they came by and quickly put it back on again. However, after they put the panels back, something wasn't working properly as my enlighten app was showing no generation and some panels not registering (see photos) they came by a few times after that to try and fix the issues, and claiming that it was fixed a few times but it was still showing not fixed on our app. During these times, we weren't home so these communications were done through emails. Eventually we didn't hear back from them on this but then started getting email and phone calls requiring us to pay the remaining balance. I was upset and told them we're not going to pay it until they fixed it, since the job is not complete unless the system shows working again. After a few assessments, they told me that my Envoy was outdated and needed to be upgraded to a new Envoy to communicate with the system and that it would cost $1000 total for them to come out and replace it. I thought this was BS since it was working fine until they came by to remove the panels, but by this time, it had been more than 6 months since the panels were first removed, so I just wanted the ordeal to be over and agreed to it. Once their contractors came and replaced the Envoy, the system was still not working with the new Envoy. These guys came out again a few times and eventually got it working, telling me that whoever came and put the panels back up had used the wrong cables. WTH. So we had waited up to that point 9 months for them to get this working again, and paid an extra $1000 for a total of $4200 just to remove and replace some panels. This is ridiculous. They have no support, it seems, only salesmen. Stay away. read more

We ended up moving forward in having Quality First Home's Company roof our home that was in very bad condition. Tom passed the Torch to Chris Peterson, whose job it was to coordinate Quality's roofing team & all selected materials, and he was also a great Ambassador for the Co. So, on 4/28/2025 Mario and his team, comprised of Jesus, Christian, Alejandro & one other STAR team member, whose name I'm sad to have forgotten, began the process of replacing our old roof. It was obvious Quality sent us their 1st String Players, with Mario as the Captain & Leader. He was professional, approachable, genial in nature, extremely knowledgeable, with a "Command Presence", answering any and all questions I had as to their process and about the products that were to be installed. I cannot begin to say enough about this Team, the often unsung hero's and front line ambassadors of a company, whose job it is to leave a first and lasting impression for their clients by their behavior & quality of their work. Mario, like a good Marine, led from the front, with a delicate, but yet firm & confident demeanor. His team listened intently and followed his lead from beginning to end, leaving our family with the Fruits of their hard work & labor, a finished product that exceeded our expectations. All I can say, from start to finish, this Company receives the Highest Marks. If I could give 11 Stars I would. I came across Quality First Home Improvement through the ProVia Doors website, where they're listed as the only certified installers in the Sacramento region. At first, I thought I was lucky to find an authorized installer just down the street. Unfortunately, that's where the good part of this story ends. Their estimate came in at 150% higher than another ProVia-recommended company--an outrageous markup. To make matters worse, their young salesman attempted one of the oldest and most insulting tactics in the book: the "buy now or lose the deal" pressure pitch. I was stunned that in 2025 companies still think this manipulative approach works. Needless to say, I asked him to leave my home. But it didn't stop there. Since that day, I've been passed around from rep to rep within their company like a hot potato, each one trying to salvage the sale. The whole experience made it crystal clear: this company isn't focused on value, quality, or genuine customer service--they're consumed by pushing inflated sales. The icing on the cake? Despite telling four different representatives that I would never do business with them, they continue to call me repeatedly. This is not only unprofessional but downright disrespectful. They can't take" not interested" for an answer. The door to door salesman came knocking on my door even though I have multiple NO SOLICITING signs on my door and mailbox. I was polite at first and even agreed to a free roof estimate. I was like what the heck free estimate won't hurt. They scheduled an estimator to come out the next day. After confirming the time they arrived to the second. However the estimator came in a car with out a ladder! ???? Uhhhh then how are you going to look at the roof. I stopped and informed the guy at that point I don't need an estimate anymore since I don't believe I could get an honest quote from a clean cut guy who doesn't plan on getting on the roof to check it.. he's going to pull a number out his ass. This company is a 3rd party company they will subcontract the roof job to another company and commission off the sale. Next day they called me to ask if they can move forward with the install..??? I didn't get a quote but they sure want to start working asap. They keep calling me even after I discussed with the phone rep that I got a new roof already. I unfortunately bought a house with a roof installed on it by Quality First Home Improvement. The roof was installed in 2017 and began leaking in 2022. I contacted Quality First Home Improvement and was told to go through GAF. I went through GAF to get the situation rectified and they determined the roof was installed incorrectly and had to be replaced. Unfortunately, GAF only warranties materials and not workmanship or damages resulting from poor worksmanship. I went with a different company to replace the roof as the GAF inspector found many issues with the roof installation from flashing to nails used to material orientation so I was not comfortable having them install the roof incorrectly again. During the roof replacement, extensive damage from moisture intrusion was discovered as well as mold. The damages were excessive. I provided evidence of the damage and the cost to rectify to their Director of Operations and his reply was that due to the 2 year warranty on their work I have no merit to recover damages. The state has a 10 year limit so I'm taking them to court for damages. Avoid these guys all they want is to take your money and run. read more

I just had another contractor come and repair my roof for the second time due to Quality first's shoddy installation of my solar system on my cement tile roof. I have paid over $18000 to fix leaks caused by them. They refused to stand by their work the first time, so I didn't bother to call them this time, instead I went straight to the company who fixed it the last time. Don't let these guys anywhere near your roof or you'll likely be sorry. Too bad I can't give them a 0 star rating. read more

We had our roof done a few years ago. After paying for a new roof they had to come back out 5-6 times to repair the New Roof. We didn't pay for a used roof so it could be repaired! They just ignored all our calls they said it's the way it should be. They forgot to put some of the flashing on as well as raw wood to cover missed edges. Then the shingles on half our roof were installed wrong. So they had to replace them but couldn't get the shingles that were the same. So they installed the wrong not matching shingles and said in a few years they will match!! Not sure we're they got there name but there is NO Quality in the work they do. I originally agreed to a roof and gutter quote but due to an accident, I was in a lot of pain and requested to contact them when I was ready. They agreed. I have since received about 10 phone calls in a few weeks trying to schedule a time for an estimate despite telling person after person I didn't want to be contacted. I thought that I would be writing a 1-star review as my interactions with these guys were shaky at first. I needed a bathroom window replaced that had had the vacuum seal fail and they fell short when they didn't show up on their scheduled day as the installers went to another job. I rescheduled for the next day and the installers did show up. They started working with lots of banging but after about 30 minutes they said that they couldn't replace the window as they had sent the wrong one and would have to order another one. I was pissed as we're moving and I needed this finished. I called and told the manager that I wasn't happy as they'd been giving me the runaround. He said that he was going to send his contractor to do the job the next day. Tim showed up on time today and replaced the window with spectacular results. Since the original 1962 window had been replaced years ago, he had to do some metal removal from the original window frame to make the new window fit along with some adjustments to the new window flanges. In the end, the new window is in and it looks great... :-) read more

So I need a new roof soon and Quality First showed up at my door and caught my wife off guard. She made an appointment and gave them my number , but if I could go back in time, I'd have her politely decline. First off, they call you every day. Every day. You'll get some polite older grandma type and you can hear her being coached by someone off the phone. It's very proactive and borders on pestering. I've gotten about 3-4 quotes so far so I have a high and low on what the project should cost. Quality came in $30,000 dollars above the average. They said they had discounts, but it took them down to about $18,000 over other installers. That's a friggin' 2024 Kia Soul. That's a low end for an in-ground pool. That basically ended the conversation, but I do occasionally get calls from them. I wouldn't recommend the experience, but I can't speak to the quality of work. 2 stars because the guy who came out to do the quote was nice. read more

Called Quality First to get an estimate for a patio cover, sliding glass door and replace concrete. JJ came out on 6/2/2025. He took measurements, went through the companies history and whole sales pitch. He went outside and was on the phone with his "supervisor" and came up with a quote. He wrote the "quote" on the back of a piece of paper. I let him know up front that he was the first one to give me a quote and I would not make a decision until I had other quotes. On 6/5/2025, I sent him a message asking for a breakdown of concrete and patio cover with the measurements he took so I could compare quotes. He responded later that evening saying he would get the quote to me later that evening. The following day, someone from his office called stating that they wanted to send him out again because they realized he didn't give me a quote for the sliding door. I let them know my issue and stated I didn't want him to come out again. I agreed for another sales person to come out. He wrote the quote up for me the same day and it was 3 times the cost that JJ gave me. I was SHOCKED!! How could 2 quotes from the same company be so different?!?! On 6/9/2025 at 3:30pm, JJ called me and left me a message stating he "hadn't forgot about me but it's going to be a long day and he had to drive to Stockton and then back home to Roseville but he'd get that quote to me that evening or the day after.". Had all my windows installed, and one slider the seal failed and it has been around 3 years and still trying to have replace it under a lifetime warranty, they do not return my calls, Second job, had a 50 year roof install and they had not finished the job around my chimney, and no call backs from them again Third job, New gutters, and they did not align the gutters so they drain correctly! one downspout in front of house is overwhelmed by water when it rains and now i am getting water flooding under my house and now I am getting settling in house and sheetrock in kitchen area is starting to crack! and still no call back from them again! they are fast to do the job! but they don't listen to complaints about lack of quality workmanship and problems that they have caused by their lack of quality workmanship! read more

Worst possible service, even for a contractor. Under no circumstances should you use them. Here's a list of issues I had: 1. We purchased our house and they had done solar and roof work for previous homeowners. We found the solar panel cables to be not conduited (not to code) and exposed wires in the garage. Even a sales rep pointed that out and requested someone to come fix. They never did. 2. Said sales rep came by one year and inquired if we were interested in a backup home battery to connect to our solar panel system. We said we were. We did not hear back from him at all that year. One year later he came back again asking as if he had never been to visit. We foolishly again said we were interested and signed a contract with a deposit. 3. Nine months go by and we don't hear ANYTHING from them on start of project. Their estimated start date was April, and it's a violation of their license to not start within 20 days of that. They showed up unannounced in September, after we tried to cancel our contract with them. The only saving grace was that they had hired skilled SUBCONTRACTORS to do the battery installation work. 4. And the biggest doozy, they had installed the incorrect type of roofing for the previous owners (simple shingles on a grade less than 7 degrees, not to code). Moss had built up and this allowed water to pool and leak through our roof and damage our roof. After months of emails saying someone would come out to inspect and fix, of course no one did. This roof was supposedly GAF warranted which was useless since GAF simply pointed me back to QF to get them to do the work. We were expecting our first child and the winter rains were imminent so I could not wait on them, which I doubt they ever would have addressed my concern. I ended up having to use separate contractor (extreme professionals) and it cost me ~$10k. I attempted to net out the cost with the battery contract, and they told me they could do a check swap for compensation to "close out the books", to which I agreed. Then they gave me a story how they could pay me half and once my battery contract was closed they could pay me the other half. I took them at their word, which was of course a mistake, since once I paid the net amount on the battery contract they just went radio silent and I'm stuck paying for their shoddy roof work that was supposedly warranted! Please don't ever use them. read more

The only thing keeping this rating from 1-2 stars is the product they sold is actually great. My saga with this company starts in April. We get a knock from someone leaving a flyer and he calls to set up to have some people come out and provide an estimate. We had some dry rot that needed attention and that's something they do so I figured I'll give them a shot. They sent hard sell salesmen who talk to you for hours to wear you down. I feel like it's a tactic they mean to use, getting people before dinner and then pushing hard for the sale. Then the work started. Which goes back to what the salesmen did in their estimate, which is hardly anything. They wrote a few sentences worth of what to do. The guys doing the work we're going to caulk over holes in siding that I could push my fingers through. I had to ride their asses to make sure they REPLACED the rotted siding. After they "finished", they had to come back a couple of times for touch ups and to clean up paint splatters that got onto my patio furniture. They could have moved it or asked me. But they just showed up and set up without warning. One of the selling points was it'll be like we weren't here after the work is done. That was not the case. They absolutely get negative stars for that. I even had to do my own touch ups after they came. Their attention to detail and care was lacking. I was thoroughly unimpressed with the crew they sent out to do the work but they at least had enough brain cells to get the paint on the house and the product looks great and has made a difference on the inside temperature and I know we won't have to worry about dry rot now with the water resistance. It just shouldn't have been such a hassle, really from the start. If you're selling a great product, it should sell itself without some high pressure salesmen. And you should hire people who are going to do the work you promised. Not cut corners to be greedy. I know siding is expensive. And I don't care. Do what you say you'll do. Also I've found dozens of their nails around my house. I'm sure I'll be noticing evidence of their presence into next year. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!!!! read more

It's Saturday December 30th at 2:30pm. I just got a crying teething 4 month old to sleep. Not 20 minutes later, a knock on the door. Dog barking loudly, baby awake!!!!! Attached is a picture with a NO SOLICITING sign completely IGNORED! When he saw my husband by our garage, he told him he came around the corner. Meaning he stepped on our grass as well. Had windows installed in 2020 and after over three years they finally sent out a guy to look at them and all he did was try to sell me more windows. The windows they had custom made to fit, didn't fit so after beating the crap out of the metal frames they decided to "Trim" the vinyl. Left a nice 3/4 inch gap that had to be filled with calking.
