Terrible customer service, witness a woman and her handicap mother be deny a room despite showing proof of reservations.

I was on a road trip and we decided to stop in Connecticut. La Quinta was the closest to where we…read morewere so we popped in. I checked different websites and their actual site was the cheapest. We got a king room for $131.45 for the night. There was ample free parking, indoor pool, complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi. Check in went on without a hitch. They had a mini store with snacks located behind the check in desk. The lobby was clean and quiet. Our room smelled clean and fresh on the walk-in. I was very pleased by this. There was a table with a swivel chair, mini fridge, microwave, flat screen, an armchair with ottoman, Keurig with k cups, ice bucket with, the king sized bed, disposable water and coffee cups. The bathroom was big, wheelchair accessible. They used dove products. Soap, shampoo and conditioner. The shower head wasn't detachable but did change pressure. The temperature was great. We got a good nights rest. It was quiet and the bed decent. The 4 pillows were great. We left too early to take advantage of breakfast. Soiled experience overall. The only negative is the front desk which is supposed to be open 24 hours. Did not answer the phone and the tv did not work. It turned on and stayed on the same screen like a picture. Yet there was sound as if a movie was playing. When I went down to the front desk no one was there and again wouldn't answer the phone after multiple attempts across an hour timeframe.

I've stayed in a lot of questionable places in my time, but this La Quinta location grossed me out…read morea tad bit more then most of those places, why? we'll get to that soon. My wife and I spent 2 nights here earlier this month since it was close to a wedding we were attending in Plainfield. The area is pretty empty, so we were just happy to find somewhere to stay. According to signs, this place is currently under construction so I'll let some of the questionable things go even though nothing seemed to actually be being worked on while we were here. The goods? This place does have a pool and free breakfast even though I didn't take advantage of either of those things, mostly because of the the condition of my own room. Now, there's only a few things that truly repulse me when it comes to hotel rooms. Bodily fluids, stains, and nasty things not being cleaned up, oh, and did I mention underwear being left on the window sill? Yeah, so there was a pair of used underwear chilling on our window sill and that was enough to ruin the entire experience for me. It's gross, it's unsanitary, and it's dirty. How was the room otherwise? I don't even care, was too grossed out to even want to look. Overall, that was definitely a one and done at this La Quinta location. When you combine the dirty underwear with the ugly AI slop "renovation" signs hanging up, I would rather sleep literally anywhere else then come back to this place.

I made a reservation and then had to cancel it as a death in the family led to me canceling my entire trip to the area. The woman I spoke with was incredibly nice and understanding and helped me canceled it without issue. A week later I was charged $200 on my card again by Fairfield. I called and spoke with someone who said I need to email proof of the double charge to the hotel email and they would get to it because they were too busy to help me and would call me the next day. I thought that was rather dismissive but said ok and sent the email. Today I called again as I had not heard anything back and spoke to a woman who sounded annoyed the moment she picked up the phone. I explained the situation to her, said I was traveling and was on my layover, and asked if I could speak to someone about this charge. She refused, said everyone was busy, and I could leave my number. I asked to speak with a manager and told her again I had been waiting to be called, hadn't been, and I was traveling so I really couldn't just deal with this later. She told me that "as she's already said" she's busy, the manager is busy, she wasn't going to go find them right now, and I could leave my number or hang up. I gave her my number and told her I wasn't trying to be difficult, I just wanted this random charge off my card and didn't want to go through the process of disputing it. She just said she didn't care and hung up. I've worked in hospitality for years and genuinely cannot believe the experience they thought was acceptable for this situation. I almost always choose Marriott brands when traveling but this might have been it for me. Absolutely will never book here again.

The day of the funeral, I received word that another friend had passed the evening before. I came back to the hotel that evening, where I wanted to take in a cigar and a bourbon out back, in honor of my two friends. I found that I had not packed matches or a torch. Miss Taylor quickly came to my rescue by providing me with matches. The kindness didn't stop there. I was provided with a care bag that evening AND the next evening as well. The very best thing I received, was a personalized card, hand written and signed by Miss Taylor and several other members of the staff. It's the personal touch of true kindness that makes this a place I will certainly return to. It is with my deepest gratitude I write this review. Peace be the journey.
