This location is where the Shearwater beans are actually roasted (in 20lb batches, which counts as "really small" in the coffee industry). When I came by, I received a friendly and enthusiastic greeting from the personnel on site, who expressed no annoyance at being diverted from their normal wholesale activities. Shearwater has good beans, and those beans are roasted with care. I came in for some ground coffee that I could use while visiting Central Connecticut and walked away with a full pound of roasted coffee in the bean, 12oz of ground coffee, and a cold brew coffee to drink on my way back. The cold brew was delicious, and I liked the ground coffee (Honduras, I think) as well. The unground coffee made its way down to Philadelphia, where it's giving great pleasure to its recipients. Although Shearwater has espresso machines and some pour-over equipment on site, only the cold brew was available to retail customers like me. That was fair enough, but still somehow disappointing. If you're around Trumbull and are looking for some excellent coffee to take home, head directly to Shearwater without passing Go. Check their hours before you do, though; note for example that they close at 2PM on Fridays.

As other Yelpers have mentioned, there's no milk or sugar, leading to a pure and complex coffee experience. After letting it cool a bit, it was very deep and flavorful. It has none of that 500-year old cigarette fumes have been seeping into the woodwork-type that you may find in Paris. Tazza Cafe is brilliant and squeaky clean, though not bright inside. Tables are for no more than 2 people (max!). But there are a few tables outside along Main Street and you might be able to snag an extra chair for a trio business meeting, or so. As has been noted, Tazza Cafe has lots of delectable sweets, baked goods, croissants, sandwiches, paninis, cookies, stuffed items, salads and Italian noisette biscotti to dunk in that Java! The items are not marked by name and price, which is a bit of a stumper for normal customers (I can tell by experience) - but in my book it's okay if they rotate items periodically or change their places depending on what is selling that week. Upper-scale. Suave. Lots of mirrors and glass and black surfaces. This is no riff-raff shop like out in Cali! At first I thought it may be a *chicks-preferred* type of puppy-pink peony-kale & baby food smoothie-type coffee shop, but NO there were groups of dudes languishing in chairs with cigarettes and lattes taking a break. Arrived at 9am and there were 8-9 customers. One thing: that entrance door is tough. Weak armed elderly customers with not much strength had trouble yanking it open from outside. The article references the Savoy Hotel, Danny Meyer's hospitality group, "the pursuit of excellence," and repeated commitments to quality and consistency. So I thought perhaps, at long last, the espresso situation had been resolved. Reader, it had not. I ordered a Cortado to stay. "Would you like that in a mug for here or a paper cup?" An encouraging start. I then positioned myself beside the espresso machine like a wildlife documentarian returning to observe a rare but persistent behavioral phenomenon. The barista dosed the portafilter, then tamped the coffee while holding the portafilter in midair, applying what appeared to be approximately the amount of pressure required to test whether an avocado is ripe. He locked it into the machine and pressed start. Brown liquid immediately exploded from the spouts with absolutely no delay whatsoever. The shot was over in roughly four seconds. For those unfamiliar with espresso, this is generally considered suboptimal. The resulting Cortado tasted primarily of hot milk and faintly burnt coffee sadness. After two and a half confirmation sips, I quietly left the remainder on the counter and departed. At this point I no longer review Ross's espresso. I monitor it.

The coffees are fresh yes I will say that but I asked for a small caramel flavor and just received a black large coffee, the hazelnut coffee also did not taste like anything. The egg spinach wrap had no flavor, the egg was way too over cooked & overloaded with spinach the only thing giving it flavor was the hot sauce. The bagel was okay, I personally like them to be more toasted but it is what it is. Pastries are definitely giving Costco for sure. Highly doubt I would be coming back, and definitely wouldn't recommend.
