Big disappointment. Heard good things about this place, so was excited to try good Italian cuisine. The staff was friendly and helpful, but timing was off. This is our go to spot on Thursdays during non-peak season for the $10 pasta, $5 wine/beer and pick me ups. The staff is always extremely friendly. They can often squeeze us in on a busy night and the assistant manager/head hostess has given us free dessert wine on someone's birthday. The rigatoni, amatriciana and quattro would be my top choices. We haven't eaten here on a non-cheap night but the rest of the menu looks great as well. read more

We have been eating at Quattro for an number of years, usually the first night we come up. My wife wife had tired of it a couple of years ago saying the food was pretty average, but our daughter liked it and so we persisted. My wife will now have her way since we will never go back. After getting our starters, we waited an hour for our main courses. Obviously, there was a mix up in the kitchen, but our server clearly wasn't paying attention when the dishes weren't coming out in a normal amount of time. During the wait they didn't even manage to keep our water glasses filled. We were on the point of walking out when the food showed up. If the food had been fantastic, it might have saved the day. However, as my wife had been saying it was mediocre. Lots of one note flavors. Scallops were a little overcooked and the Rolota was drowning olive oil. The wine list is overpriced, but par for the course in Whistler. We ordered an Australian Shiraz. A mistake in a restaurant that emphasizes Italian wines, but it was over the hill. Obviously, no one had tried it for a while. read more

Lovely atmosphere and the service was above par. Beautiful, albeit expensive wine list. This restaurant is a bit hidden in Whistler. Off the main drags, if you will, but we quite enjoyed the menu and had high hopes. Our major issue is that nothing was seasoned. No salt, no pepper, nothing. Not even salt in the pasta water. To compound matters, there are no salt & pepper shakers on the table. The staff and cooks in the open kitchen seem focused and caring. It honestly breaks my heart they are not receiving technique in proper seasoning. Everything is one dimensional as a result. Outside of that, it was a nice experience. Hope it improves. read more

Had the chicken Quattro last night, very very average and my dish also had the pleasure of having what looked like a piece of grit / stone in it. hurt my teeth significantly. rest of my party had a good meal. I informed the server who said sorry and reported it to the kitchen, never returned to the table to apologize, neither did the chef or manager, they made no attempt to repair the bad experience. read more

What a disappointment, let's start with the biggest problem...how does one order a martini and gets serviced a drink that is halfway full? No question of optimism here! This was one of my worst experiences in a restaurant. We were a large party an had a reservation so we were each charged an additional 18%. This would have been fine if we'd had something resembling a good meal or service. I was in shock at how often the waiter had to apologize. My wife and I ate at Quattros on our second night in Whistler. We were early for our reservation and the hostess sat us at our table with no problem. Bread and water came to the table immediately. The waiter was great and came to the table right away to take our drink order. We started out with a ceasar salad. It had a good amount of dressing on it but it was tasty. Then, my wife and I shared the five pasta tastings selection. Since my wife would not eat pork, we asked the waiter to substitute the pork pasta dish with something else. Right away he said you can change it for the pasta you want. When the pasta came, it was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this dish!! It was so much pasta my wife and I did not finish everything! Overall, service, food, and decor was great and we would definitely return next time in Whistler. read more

My husband and I ate here during our very first night at Whistler because we had arrived late in the evening, we were tired, and we didn't want to venture too far from our hotel for dinner. We could have gone to Alta Bistro for French cuisine, but we decided to go to Quattro because we had eaten at the other Quattro restaurants in Vancouver and have gotten consistently great service and good food. We both ordered the Lasagna special that comes with a choice of appetizer, a choice of three types of lasagna, and a dessert. For drinks, my husband ordered a glass of Peroni beer while I ordered a glass of cabernet sauvignon. For dessert, I had the tiramisu whie my husband ordered the gelato. We thought the wine list and the menu were a bit expensive since beer, wine and food are so cheap in Rome. You can buy a can of Peroni beer from a food stand in Rome for 3 Euros and that's about 4-5 Canadian dollars while this Quattro restaurant charges 8.95 Canadian for a tall glass of Peroni! We thought that was a rip off. Also, when we were in Rome, we ordered the same type of menu at a restaurant near the Pantheon and it only cost us 10 and 15 Euros each. Plus, those menus include a choice of a glass of wine, coffee, or soft drink with no service charge! The restaurant had a hard time attracting customers because they were competing with many other restaurants on the same street and they were so happy that we were eating there that they even gave us a bottle of red Italian wine free of charge! Wine is so cheap in Italy! It's like how Chinese restaurants serve unlimited amounts of tea free of charge because tea is so cheap! In fact, most cafes and restaurants in Rome have set menus that come with wine, coffee, or soft drink and they all cost less than 20 Euros each. The food in Rome is also much better and much healthier than anything that we have had up to date in North America. Unlike Italian food in North America, actual Italian food has less cheese and moderate portions. Real pizza in Italy is also rectangular and not round, cheesy, and greasy like the North American versions. Although the food was excellent and close to the Italian food that we had in Rome and the service professional, friendly, and attentive, I have to give this location 2 stars because we both came down with upset stomachs (I don't know if it's because of a minor case of food mishandling in the kitchen) and the food was overpriced for what we can get elsewhere, especially in Rome. We don't think we will be returning to this restaurant the next time we go to Whistler. read more

Basically the items we ordered are staple dishes whose basic forms are served in all levels of restaurants, and while we thought we would have a more sophisticated (or at least a tasty) variation of these classics. we got crude, flavorless servings: one after another. Clearly from the positive reviews, it cannot be the case that the chef does not know when he/she is cutting corners and therefore we were insulted that there was no effort to offer us what Quattro must certainly be capable of. Our review is as follows: We ordered 5 items from the menu: FROMAGGIO TRIO: The tomato slices with balsamic vinaigrette were average but the rest was a disappointment. The three described cheese(s) arrived as five chunks of various sizes and shapes but appeared (and tasted) to all be the same cheese. The server could not identify them as ""different," then apologetically indicated that they were "out" of the other cheeses; they were,all mozzarella. The tapenades and pesto seemed to have good flavor but the portions were embarrassingly minuscule (the size of caviar spoons) - not even enough for two to taste. This appetizer was a disappointment. MINESTRONE ALLA GENOVESE: WINTER VEGETABLE SOUP, BASIL PESTO, PARMIGIANO REGGIANO. I have never (not in a diner, fine restaurant or even supermarket vat) experienced an attempt to pass off straight up canned tomato sauce as genuine stock derived from cooking vegetables. The small amount of overcooked vegetables was not even enough to mask the canned tomato sauce flavor. Had the chef remembered to add the basil pesto it still could not have rescued it. COZZE AL ZAFFERANO: VANCOUVER ISLAND MUSSELS, SAFFRON, FENNEL, JALEPENO, TOMATO AND VERMOUTH: Mussels in warm water (with cold fresh chopped tomatoes on top to give the illusion of a freshly prepared dish). The fennel was so overcooked as to be unidentifiable and tasteless: all of its flavor was left behind in whatever receptacle it had been cooked in. The dish was so flavorless (and lacked any salt whatsoever) it was evident that the mussels had also been cooked elsewhere and transferred into this bowl of water leaving all of their yummy juices behind. The saffron, vermouth and all but a piece or two of jalapeño were also all left behind. Don't bother saving your bread to sop up juices: it was water...warm water with cold tomato on top. CESARE: ROMAINE HEARTS, ANCHOVY GARLIC DRESSING, CROUTONS, PARMIGIANO REGGIANO: Caesar salad: two basic ingredients to get right: lettuce and dressing. The dressing had good flavor, however, the salad was not freshly tossed so the romaine was soft and had lost its crispness; the freshest thing on the plate was the lemon wedge that was place on the side. SPAGHETTI QUATTRO: FOR ITALIANS ONLY: We had never had this dish so we decided to try it. It did have an interesting blend of flavors. However, it was swimming in oil. There was more than a puddle (more like a lake) of oil at the bottom of the bowl. The service: Our server was very sweet; only moderately knowledgeable about the menu and the items she was serving. After we placed our order (which included a carafe of wine), she went to the table adjacent to us and to take the order for a young family (who already had bread on their table) for more than 10 minutes (with our order still in her hand). We sat at our table for better than 20 minutes with only water after which time our, Frommagio Trio, and wine came (at the same time), our bread arrived shortly after. As stated above we did inquire about the identical cheeses. Whether the fault of the server or the chef our meal took over 2-1/2 hours to complete. There was a long span after the Frommagio Trio, and then the mussels and soup arrived at the same, and then again another large span of time after the mussels and soup before the Caesar and Spaghetti arrived (at the same time as well). We opted out of dessert. Wish we could give a better review, but they didn't even try. We are upbeat people and enjoy our own company and can laugh about this, but there are so many great restaurants in Whistler. Go to one of them and laugh. read more

We attended this restaurant early Dec 2013. As per some of the other submissions, it is not our habit to submit negative reviews, but unfortunately this establishment warrants this review. We made reservations as two couples during our visit to Whistler in celebration of two birthdays. We had a reservation for approximately 7PM on a Tuesday night. It is early in the ski season, but we were still surprised to see such few clients in the restaurant. In general the menu is fairly pricey given the food being served, and the wine list is very over-priced. However an over-priced wine list seems to be the norm at Whistler. Very early on in the service, it seemed to us as if the head server would rather be anywhere except serving us. He did convince us to try their calamari starter (more like a calamari steak), which really appealed to us in that we often will order this dish whenever we find it on a menu. When it came, it was completely over-cooked and had a strong odour / taste. The server never came back to check on us until the others had finished their starters. We tried to cut into the calamari and it was like cutting into a bridgestone tire. Two of us tried small pieces and were unable to swallow them. When the server finally returned to the table to clear the starter plates to ready us for the mains, he asked if we were done and I noted we could not eat it, so he merely took it away without comment. The mains were somewhat better, but in general the pasta was over-cooked to the point of falling apart. We certainly ate more of those than we did the starter. As soon as the mains were served to us, (around 8:00 PM) several staff members came out and started piling up the chairs and moving the tables in the dining area so they could start cleaning. This activity continued until they were doing the tables right beside us. It was so rude and inappropriate, but by this time it was clear there was not enough other business to keep our server focused. The bill came and of course we were billed for everything, including the inedible starter. I know Whistler is a tourist village, however for a restaurant that claims to be one of the better restaurants in the town, the quality of food and the service was more like a poorly run Olive Garden. Having said that, they did retain the image of billing us for an expensive dinner. No, we will not be back, there is something very wrong with this restaurant now. read more
