I don't get what everyone else is saying about this place. Maybe it's because I live around here, but the QCC is not the cute little ice cream parlor/deli the other 2 reviewers raved about. The best thing about it is actually the building itself; the exterior is beautiful, well-kept and usually lit up at night with white xmas lights...which is always a nice touch. The interior has a nice small coffee shop feel to it and is clean, bright, and modestly decorated. Now on to the food and such. There is nothing special about the ice cream in this place, despite it being a large part of their attraction. They only have a few flavors to choose from--vanilla, chocolate, and the flavor-of-the-day. None of which I have tried that have lived up to the hype. It's basically really rich, yet boring ice cream. The food is mediocre standard deli fare like wraps, lunch meat sandwiches, and chips. Not very flavorful sandwiches, either. And it's not a cheap place to grab a bite. You're probably looking at $11 or more if you get anything more than an ice cream cone. Believe me, that's too expensive for the quality and quantity of food you get. The best thing they have is actually their coffees, but if I want a good coffee, I'll take a little stroll to Mark's Daily Grind, which is only about a block or two away on the Cumberland Mall. Lastly, I have to mention the service. Most of the employees are obviously teenagers...of the more obnoxious variety. The older woman that works there often (maybe an owner or something) has a horrible attitude. She takes your order without even cracking a smile or saying anything at all. If you don't know what you want, don't bother asking for her advice...you'll get a scowl with rudeness on the side. Bottom line: Go there if you want to experience a nice atmosphere and have a coffee. If you want a good sandwich, go to Kramer's Deli (inside the historic Cumberland train station). read more

Absolutely delicious. We stopped here for a quick breakfast on our way home from WV, and I'm still mad that I didn't try the ice cream--they were making custard and it looked amazing. I'm here on vacation with a friend. We literally waited 20 minutes for them to take our order while they were goofing off and flirting with each other. Only after I got up and told them we were still waiting did the girl get an attitude to tell me orders are taken at the register. They could have told us that when they saw us waiting. There could also be a sign saying that, but no. She'd have rather gotten rude to a paying customers than do the job she's paid for. Also, they charged us for banana splits but didn't have bananas so they gave us just sundaes which are less in price with no refund of the difference. We ordered death by chocolate ice cream in a bowl. It was pretty good. Also ordered mocha which they completely forgot to prepare until we were leaving and I had go up to the cashier and remind about my order. No biggie. It looked like a very small place and was nearly empty on a Sunday evening. We stopped here for a short break on our way to DC from morgantown. It's a small place that serves decent tasting ice cream, baked goods coffee , some sandwiches etc. You also get some alcoholic beverages and drinks here which I didn't try. How I ended up in this area on a business trip is too long a story to tell, but luckily Yelp steered me to Queen City--otherwise, Cumberland didn't seem like a big restaurant town. The food was serviceable. I had a grilled corned beef sandwich. I was there close to St. Paddy's day, and I had a hankering. I didn't find the people working there to be especially friendly, which surprised me for a small town. It's a quaint, cute restaurant you only find in small downtown areas. A big city could not replicate this effectively. My wife had the pancakes and I had the breakfast sandwich croissant. Both were good. Not unbelievable...but not worth turning away. My wife had the coffee, which she thought was ok, and I had the hot chocolate, which was very tasty. I also had the cake batter custard. It good, but I probably would have chosen cold stone or marble slab if it was next door. All in all $22 plus tip. Had breakfast here and it was amazing. The French toast was delicious, and the bacon had to be the best bacon I've ever had, not even lying! Also enjoyed their special holiday blend coffee flavor. The staff was friendly, and the place had a nice, clean and quaint feel to it. The best part was a pay it forward board in the front where other customers buy items from the shop (coffee, ice cream, sandwiches, etc.) to give to other people that may want/need them. This is a Tom's Run tradition! After our pasta dinner we generally walk around downtown Cumberland and end up at this place for ice cream. Custard style! I had their flavor of the day Peach. They make their own ice cream and when you get a meal it comes with a tasting cone! What a delightful place. It makes me feel like it's the 1950's and I'm grabbing an ice cream soda with a friend. The booths are really cute and they have a little ice cream bar where you can sit while they prepare your ice cream. Love the flavors here. They have such a variety of flavors and every day is a different flavor of the day. The food here is also pretty good but I come here for the ice cream mostly. Quick and friendly service. I ordered a half chicken sandwich and bowl of chili. Good for the price, bread was nice and fresh. My wife ordered cranberry chicken salad on a croissant. Also good, but nothing too special for an almost $10 sandwich. The best part was that we received a free mini ice cream cone, but we had to ask for it based on another yelp reviewer's comment; we didn't see it advertised. Looking for a real custard style ice cream is no easy task, but let me tell you this was it. I always appreciate when a place doesn't go over board with their varieties in flavors and therefore making it possible to have the freshest batches available. My vanilla was pure, smooth, and creamy, and an utter delight. These guys did however put milk in my ice coffee without asking, but I'll try not to hold it against them. Next time I'm traveling through, I will definitely bring everyone I know. read more

Best ice cream (sorry, frozen custard) I've had. Period. Queen City Creamery only has a few flavors of ice cream per day. This limited selection, however, isn't a bummer; it's awesome. It makes deciding easy, and the fact the flavors rotate daily meant that I got to try many flavors. I was disappointed with none of them, but the coconut was particularly awesome. When I took my first taste, I almost fell down from deliciousness. My wife's favorite is the vanilla (available every day, along with the chocolate), and it has won "best vanilla in the country" a few times, rightfully so. If you're going for a meal, as well, the sandwiches are legit. Good meat, good bread, good specials. Warning: their "real" mustard is strong, and the dude who made my sandwich had a heavy hand, so ask for it on the side unless you *love* mustard (I like mustard, but I'd have liked to taste the rest of my sandwich). read more

I was in town for business and saw the high rating it had on Yelp, so I decided to give it a try. The location is great. It's right in the heart of the old city, so if you are there to see downtown, the museums, the train or just the canal, it's a great location. I was there for lunch and had a club sandwich. The offer a bunch of different breads for the sandwiches, and I tried parmesan Italian. So good. Inside, it has a cute ice cream parlor feel with seating enough for a family. I wouldn't recommend a large group if you wanted to eat inside. After my food, I couldn't leave the creamery without trying the ice cream. I had a plain one-scoop, vanilla cone. It was creamy and delicious. They do charge a small credit card fee, but it didn't change my feelings at all about the place. I would definitely come here again. No complaints. read more

Probably my favorite breakfast/lunch stop in Cumberland. I go nearly every year when I'm in town for a music festival, and I've never been disappointed. The ice cream is the real reason to go, honestly. I've had several lovely egg sandwiches there, delicious sandwiches, and coffee beverages over the years. First time at the Queen City Creamery, and I must say this is a cool little place. On our visit we had the daily special Ice Cream which was a Salted Carmel with Cashew. The Ice Cream was delicious, and definitely the main attraction here. Homemade Ice Cream with really quality Ingredients. We also had a Carmel Latte from the coffee bar. They use Crimson Cup Coffee found in many areas of the Mid-Atlantic and Mid Western States, and roasted in Ohio. Overall this latte was middle of the road, but not to shabby for somewhere not specializing in coffee. The final little treat we sampled was a bowl of the Chicken Gumbo Soup, Not to bad but nothing to jump up and down about. Overall this is a pretty cool little place to stop in, and support. I will definitely be back for the Ice Cream as it's well worth the stop in itself. One warning if you use a Credit Card 4% will be added to your bill. If you don't see all the signs you might end up paying a little more than expected if credit is how you normally pay. Stick with debit or cash to save yourself the money. Enjoy! read more

I really enjoyed my experience here. I walked in at lunchtime and there was no wait/line. I ordered my food, and the cashier offered me a free mini cone while I waited for my food to be done. The mini cone was delicious. I had the milky way custard. As for my food, I ordered the sandwich of the week, which consisted of grilled deluxe ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, grilled & marinated pineapple slice, and honey mustard on a fresh caporale roll. It came with a bag of potato chips and a sliced pickle. My total wait time from walking in the door to leaving was under 10 min, which was awesome. While spending a few days at Rocky Gap, we headed here for dessert tonight on the recommendation of a friend. Thankfully while out at dinner, we checked the hours of operation . . . they closed at 8pm and it was 7:40pm . . . we made a mad dash for the car and made it with 8 minutes to spare! I'm an ice cream fanatic, so this place is up my alley! They don't have a bunch of choices of flavors, but they must of known I was coming because the flavor of the day was "Death by Chocolate"! While waiting for our room to be ready at Rocky Gap, we stopped in Cumberland for some old world charm. I read reviews about this place and they lived up to expectations. The people are extremely friendly and courteous. The sandwiches looked a little unappealing, but were very fresh and tasty. The turkey and ham on my club were excellent and the bread, I could tell, was fresh. The standout is the frozen custard. It's delicious and they have tons of flavors. I was driving to Indianapolis and saw this on a highway sign around lunch and decided it was worth a try. I got the vegetarian pita plus pesto sauce and dill havarti. The ingredients they use on the sandwiches are great quality, and they use Boar's Head meats and cheeses which are always good. I love a good deli, and was happy to find this one. We lucked out that this place was one block from our hotel. We came every day for the homemade ice cream. One day it was butterfinger , the next Samoa flavored.
