I really like the Falcon sandwich at Quentin's with burnt ends and jalapeno sausage. It is usually so loaded down that you'll need a fork to eat all the meat that fell out of the bun while you were trying to eat it. On a recent visit, they had smoked wings on special, and I tried those. I liked them, but they were a bit on the dry side. Likely from reheating them or something. The smoke flavor and sauce were good though. Quentin's is located at the Olde Mill, so there are other places to explore and enjoy while you are there, including a brewery. The place is super cool and has a lot going on. The service at Quentin's is pretty quick. You order at the window, get your number, and find a place to sit either inside or outside. Overall, a unique addition to the KC BBQ scene. Worth a visit for sure. read more

Came to Kansas City this past Christmas, to visit some friends, and they wanted to show us real Kansas City BBQ like I've never had before. So they brought us to Quentin's. I loved the ambiance. Outdoor window, counter service place, with a dining room inside of a brewery. Very nice people at the window. And the food came out pretty promptly. As for the food, everything was pretty good. The wings had a nice smoke to them and were just sticky enough from the sauce. I also loved the mac 'n' cheese bowl that was topped with brisket and crispy fried onions. Bowls are so trendy, but so good in the BBQ world. Make sure you get your hands on some sauce, because the pulled pork will definitely need it. Brisket was pretty ok, too. Pros: Part of a very cool building full of other small businesses, and the main dining fall is actually a really good brewery. Service was good. Nice people at the counter, and the food didn't take too long to come out. Food itself was very good. I love how they have mac 'n' cheese bowls with meat on top and crispy onions. Very fun and trendy. Cons: No real cons. I know pulled pork sometimes needs sauce, but this one really NEEDS sauce. Just remember that. Tip: Get that bowl. It was very worth it. And get the brisket. Nestled on the end of the Old Mill, is Quentin's BBQ. They have a large menu, but my favorite thing they have is the jalapeno and cheddar sausage sandwich. Their bbq beans have meat in them as well and are filling and delicious. Even as good as their food is, extra benefit of having multiple businesses in the same building (brewery, coffee/cocktails, ice cream, golf simulator, etc) and inside and outside seating complete with lawn games, gives this business a nudge ahead of the rest. About a week and a half ago, my husband and I came next door to check out a coffee shop and it was a miss, so we decided since we came out during lunch time to at least make this place a go. It was decent as far as a pulled pork sandwich went. I had mine with a bit of sausage. The only issue we both had was with the sauce. It was a bit too sour for me, maybe a bit too much vinegar? I heard a rumor about a bbq shack that was built near a brewery in a grain elevator-themed small town strip mall, so I had to check it out. It's true. You can order bbq, walk inside the neighboring brewery, order a beer and make yourself at home. The cue is well smoked, though a hair dry. Sauces are solid. Like other restaurants, the basic sauce was a little thick and sweet for my tastes, so I switched to the hot sauce, which is more my style. It gave a good kick, but didn't overpower. Ribs, sandwiches and sides are served in nice-sized portions. Prices are a tad on the high side, but not outrageous. My ribs and two sides (the restaurant let me keep the third side in the photo because they made it by accident and didn't want to throw it away) were roughly $22 plus tip (September 2022.) To start, I'm going to have to give this place another try. Order early because they do sell out. I made the mistake of wandering around all of the business and breweries that are located right next door and by the time I made it back around, everything that I wanted to try was sold out. So that was my mistake and I won't be repeating it. We ended up trying the turkey, burnt ends, and pulled pork. The burnt ends were fabulous. Big and juicy. The turkey was good. It was a bit dry but it's turkey so that's to be expected. The pulled pork was average. The turkey was on a sandwich and I added cheese to it. The cheese was good but the consistency was globby. I did take it home so it may be better if you eat it there. I probably won't add cheese again. So on Friday's they have crinkle cut fries. They ran out of those so I ended up with the regular ones. They were good and reminded me of McDonald's fries. The cheesy corn was really good. It was the special and I would order it again if they had it. My partner tried the beans. I did not because I thought they looked weird. It was a pretty pale concoction. He described it as eating "baked beans from a can with a bunch of meat dumped in." They have three sauces: original, hot, and sweet. Neither of us cared for the original. It was weird. Like ketchup. The hot was good. It was hot but it has a nice flavor. The pulled pork sandwich ($8.00) was absolutely delicious, and one of the best I've ever had. It stood 3" tall, with plenty of moist, very tasty meat on a lightly toasted bun, while the side of beans ($3.00) was okay. Three sauces were available: spicy, original and sweet. My order was brought to my table (inside) on a covered platter just eight minutes after I ordered at the window (outside). The young lady taking orders was somewhat glum, but everyone else was helpful, especially the pit master, who stopped by for a satisfaction check. I found the dining area to be clean and nice with TVs and cool background music. The dining area was connected to the adjacent Ten & Two Coffee Bar, which offered a variety of beverages including cocktails. I also noticed a covered area outside the adjacent Ten & Two Coffee Bar with cornhole games. Lunch specials, pickles and one meat plates with sides would be good additions. Possibly the worst BBQ I've ever had. The burnt ends on my sandwich were so dry and chewy I could hardly choke them down. The rack of ribs were overcooked, under seasoned and not even a hint of smoke flavor. The cheese pizza was just a hair away from being burnt. Quick update: I've been here a dozen times since this review. I stand by the being one of the best bbq places around. One update to the above is I decided to try the ribs again because of the nature of how hard those can be to get consistently good and the ribs were the best thing we had that night. So, their ribs can be great too. That said, the chopped brisket has always been good here as my top choice. It's pretty enjoyable on the loaded Mac and cheese special too. Last, quick comment on atmosphere. This isn't a sit down and be waited on situation but that should be known. The outside is fun with activities you can do like Cornhole. The inside stretches into other businesses like the outfield brewery and a baseball shop of some sorts. You can get to pool tables, foosball, and it looks like there's live music sometimes. Lee one taking my order is not informed and will not explain if it's your first time there. The menu I asked multiple times about meals, and if they had meals and he kept saying, yes, go look at our menu, but it's not really common logic. They're menu board the only thing on their menu board. It's sandwiches, pizza, and and that is it. You know, like you go to a barbecue restaurant and you can order like 2 side meal with you know, 2 choices of meat or whatever. It's a plate that comes out. So I kept asking him what the building inside was for I was like, so I can't go in there and order my food, I have to do it out here and the heat and Sun and all that stuff, and he's like, yeah. And then I'll give you this license plate you go inside and you can sit and you wait and it will bring you your food. And I was like, hmm, but why can't I just order my food inside? You're bringing it to me, but I was like, all right. And so I ordered my food went inside and waited right and if it wasn't for the waiter who waited on me? I would be giving this place a one because the food wasn't that great. I mean, the whole place is open for you to sit at And you know, but it's not it's not food to write home to your mama about. So hate to burst your bubbles, but it's, I don't know now. I didn't try the sandwiches or anything. I tried the ribs so that says anything but I gave it a 3 star and I don't, I probably won't be going back. But you know, maybe this kind of scene is for you. Tasty little BBQ joint in Bonner, attached to Outfield Brewing and they have a large indoor and outdoor areas for eating, and hanging out for drinks. The hall also has cocktails, an ice cream shop, indoor pool and foosball. Chopped brisket was ok, wished I had gotten sliced, will try that next time. I drove from the Northland out to Bonner Springs to check out Quentin's. Was it worth the crosstown drive? Ugh...yes and no. The space that Quentin's shares with a brewery, roastery, ice cream shop, auto museum and tons of seating options - inside and out - is in a 100 year old remodeled mill just outside of downtown Bonner. The building is quite a spectacle and provides something for everyone, so it's well worth the visit. My meal experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The ordering process begins at a trailer outside and you can then go inside or stay at a picnic table outside and they food is delivered to you. My first issue was asking how the procedure works and getting blank stares from the young girl and boy in the trailer; it only got worse when I started asking specific questions about the food. I appeared to be bothering them and they were in no mood to provide any sort of customer service. My $12.50 Falcon sandwich was a plentiful amount of smoked jalapeño cheddar sausage and "burnt ends". I've never seen any burnt ends in my life prepared in such a manor. It was more like chunks of smoked stringy pot roast. It was not bad, just not what I was reasonably expecting. The juice soaked the bun causing the sandwich to be eaten by fork, certainly my first soggy burnt ends. While the meats were tasty, the baked beans were not. The intoxicating flavor of childhood memories of straight from the can. They actually had a bit of stringy turkey meat added, but they are some of the worst I've had. I would gladly go back to experience the space again but would select the mac and cheese and a different entrée. I'm giving an optimistic and generous 4 stars. Service 2 stars. Sausage 4.5 stars. First they are in no way handicapped friendly If you want a long hike with a cane or walker you have to go to the other end of the building to get to a ramp. The brisket and burnt ends had good flavor, but there was very little smoke flavor. It was more roasted than smoked. The sauces were fine, we preferred the sweet. The sandwiches were as my wife put it cute. Both sandwiches looked like one tou would make for a small child. The buns were the same size that you get at the grocery 8 for 1.00. All for 12.00 a sandwich. What a RIP off. They had no drink carriers or lids so we paid for 2 drinks, but since I walk with a cane we could only get one the distance was too far to make 2 trips. Since it was carry out I was told the drinks and sauces are up the steps in the restaurant. There are no cups for sauce, so had to let them know which one we wanted to try. The mac n cheese was more of an alfredo sauce than a cheese sauce. I am sure they sell alot of it it just had an off taste to me. The reason for only 2 stars is the I don't care attitude of the staff, having to traverse stairs with a cane, and 38.50 for 2 small sandwiches, 1 small order onion rings, off tasting mac n cheese and one drink. So great that this spot is in Bonner Springs! My husband and I are frequents here and always bring our out of town guests. Everyone is always pleased.
