This location is a constant rotation of what appear to be new hires. We had two staff members in the room--one spent more than 20 minutes trying to navigate the computer and kept getting error messages. I ultimately pointed out the issues?! The other stood around for a long time, occasionally inspecting my son's arms. When it was finally time to do the draw, she appeared very apprehensive even though he was calmly watching his tablet. She completely missed the vein and tried to adjust (unsuccessfully) until he looked up suddenly due to the pain. There was zero blood when she removed the needle. The other staff member then announced she would try but my son said no. She then started promising him things I would give him if she made an attempt: ice cream, cake, a new toy, a new game...?! We repeatedly declined and she continued to push. Then I asked for the swabs needed for a home saliva test collection and it took another 15 mins plus the site supervisor so figure out what I was talking about and then find the swabs. Unprofessional behavior + ineptitude = needle trauma-inducing waste of time. read more

This location was convenient and parking wasn't bad at all. The location is on the second floor and the door is labeled easy for you to find them. There is stairs and an elevator just in case you are handicap. Came in they have the electronic log in tablet thingy and on the TV you can see how long it will take to be seen, which I thought was super cool. My appointment was at like 9:15 and I was seen within 10 minutes. That was very good timing! The guy that took care of me was not the friendliest BUT! He was good with getting me in and out. Thats all that matters in this line of work. I had to get a bio screening done for my health insurance coverage. You know? one of those screening to help you save monthly on your premium. And he took my blood and weight and height, etc. I was out of that office within 15minutes. Will go to this location next years screening for sure! read more

They were running 15-20 mins behind on their appointments. I heard a phlebotomist talking to a patient about informal things which is fine as I'm for friendly customer service BUT to do it while you have a line outside of 5-7 appointments is where I draw the line. I would of politely cut him short. They are in no hurry to ensure you have a great experience. read more

You know what sucks besides getting poked with a needle and getting 4-5 viles of blood taken because you might be really ill? Having to do fasting blood work without an appointment and not knowing how many people are ahead of you, or how long you might have to wait. I mean think about it. In the ideal world, you just want to get in there and out of there quickly at the time of your choosing---like wake up at 10am if you feel like it. But if the lab opens at 7am and you already know that appointments are booked for the next several weeks ahead of time because of COVID, you might be like me, and show up there around 6:45am and think of waiting in line with other people if necessary. Well, I got lost and didn't make it to the lab until shortly past 7am. I was imagining this horrid image of lots of people piled on top of each other looking glum and starved like me upon arrival. Boy was I wrong and I was so glad about it! So glad that I am writing a review on my getting bloodwork done at Quest on a Friday night because what other better ways to spend a cozy night in with snuggly beagles anyways? Anyhow I digress. Upon arrival, I was able to use the touchscreen sign in machine. There was only one person ahead of me. I was given a choice between waiting indoors or waiting in the car. I chose the former only because I am a bit directionally challenged and the building structure seemed confusing to my non caffeinated brain. I am glad I stayed put because my turn was up in less than 5 minutes or so. It may have been even shorter because it felt like I signed in, sat down, blinked for a few seconds and it was my turn. I have awful needle phobia so I let the phlebotomist know that ahead of time. Alice was incredibly efficient and humorous about the whole experience. I barely felt the prick in my arm and 5 viles of blood were extracted out of me quickly. I loved how the worst part was over before we finished talking about Alice liking to work out between 3-4am. In sum, if you really need to get blood work completed and need it done without waiting forever in line, this Quest location is a great one to go to. There's minimal wait, parking is free and easy, and it's right off of 270, exit 8. Best of all, Starbucks, Panera, and Krispy Kreme is hop scotch away to reward yourself for surviving the fasting blood work if you must! read more

Pros: They saw my child on time. The phlebotomist was friendly. Cons: They couldn't find a vein and stuck my child many times. The back office smelled like weed. They were supposed to send me an email with a way to set up an online account to see results, but didn't. I created an online account for my child myself but could see no record of their appointment or results. I tried to call the office, but no one answered and the mailbox was full. It is nearly impossible to talk to a real person when calling their customer center. read more

Highly recommend!! So Im glad I didn't check the yelp reviews prior to scheduling, because I would've been tempted to go elsewhere. However, quest diagnostics must have listened to the feedback, because my visit was seamless and efficient! I made an appointment online for routine blood work as apart of my annual physical. While booking the appointment, I was able to complete my insurance info and personal information online, so I wouldn't have to do any paper work when I get there. Unfortunately, I was extremely late for my appointment, and had to be considered a walk in. However, I was able to do self check-in via kiosk by scanning the code provided to me during booking. Within 10 mins, I was called to the back room, and phlebotomist Lindsay had me all taken care of. She provided me with one of the BEST needle sticks I have ever had!! And this is coming from a healthcare provider who amputates legs in surgery, but is scared to death of needles...hahaha! overall I highly recommend, but definitely make an appointment and compete your personal/insurance information beforehand to save time. read more

This Shady Grove Road Rockville location was once very good. Alas for the past year really not so good. Staff arrive late on Monday morning so don't schedule an appointment before 9 or 10 am. Also two of the last three visits my blood work is either sent to an incorrect physician that I never heard about, or not sent at all after waiting 8 or 9 days. As others have said, avoid this location. They do not seem to understand that they are in the business of customer service. They claimed not to have my doctor's orders, so I told them I would have my doctor call them when they opened (in 2 hours), but could I start my test since I'd been fasting and it takes 4 hours? They refused and then seemed confused if they even offered that test, despite their web site indicating they do. I ended up having to leave and reschedule for another day (at a different lab). I walked in for a blood draw at 2pm (1 hour before close) and was checking in when a lady at the front desk popped up out of nowhere and asked "what are you doing" rudely. I told her I was here for a blood draw and she said they do not take walk ins. The kiosk allowed me to make an appointment for 2:15pm and she told me that was not allowed. So no walk ins and no appointments? Interesting. I stood in the lobby for a moment while I made an appointment for another location and she interrupted me again and rudely asked "what are you doing now" I'm assuming because she wanted me to leave so she could go back to not working. She had no problems with finding my veins as I told her my horror story of being stabbed in 3 different spots on my arm for an IV the last time I was in the hospital. This place is extremely inefficient. It gets you in the queue and then keep pushing it. I have been here for almost an hour. When I came in, the wait time was 21 minutes and an hour later, I am still 14 minutes in the queue and have been pushed back again and again. Seriously, I fasted overnights and now it is 10:30. I seriously doubt I will get my blood draw before 11. They only have 1 person working..... Not coming back for sure. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I have to go there twice for same reason only because this was the closest location from work but both times they provide the worst than worst customer service. I waited there for more than an hour and still no call. When they call in then they could not get my info correct. I left that day without getting my work done and then showed up next day just because I left my drivers license there but same thing made me wait for more than an hour. I came here on a weekday during regular business hours, thinking it'd be a wuick in and out. The parking lot was quite crowded. I did not have an appointment and put my name on the list and waited about 35 mins and another 15 after being called back. One of the front desk receptionist was quite abrupt and unhelpful to other patients. The waiting area is a dull boring room with chairs. No reading material, no TV. The phlebotomist was quick and was able to find my vein easily, which has not always been the case when I've had blood drawn. Overall, I got what I needed some, but would probably choose a different location and recommend making an appointment in advance (must be done online and you must receive a confirmation for them to honor it). read more

Unfortunately, I have to agree with all of these one star reviews. My experiences with this lab have always been negative. The wait times are long, there is always a crowd in the waiting room. Furthermore, the staff is universally unfriendly, and not at all knowledgeable about the tests. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone, once they have messed up the blood work order. That was my experience last winter. I had to return for have the labs redone. This past Monday, I went again, for the same hormone blood work that they always do.They usually take about 4 vials, for all of the hormones. This time, the phlebotomist took just one test tube. I asked her if that was enough blood for each test. She said yes. Of course, it wasn't. My doctor in Philadelphia only received one test, so now I have to start from scratch, wait for results, and plan a drive up there for next week.This Quest really is horrible. I'm going to Labcorp. I guess I'm fortunate that my doctor will use either lab. read more

This place is a train wreck and their customers are the passengers. They are disorganized, unaware of the fact that they are in a service oriented business, and need to be shut down or completely revamped. They seem to be perpetually understaffed, unable to handle their appointments let alone walk-ins. I had an appointment and have been waiting almost almost an hour and a half just to pee in a cup. This is the worst lab I have ever been to. The waits are unreasonably long. I once had to wait 45 minutes only for them to call my name and tell me they didn't have the equipment necessary to do my testing. The waiting areas are also filthy. There's been one huge cobweb hanging from a sign for the past 2 months and no one has bothered to clean it. And this is where they're going to draw blood from people? The health department needs to investigate this place and shut it down. They are a farce of a medical testing facility. The staff that work there are also atrocious. I have been on multiple occasions and have never witnessed such poor customer service in my life. One time, the two women working there, who both were not native English speakers, were berating an elderly couple who didn't speak any English. They were just yelling at them. It was heartbreaking to watch. There is one woman in particular who is downright nasty and rude. I wish I knew her name so I could report her directly. I've gone there since it's conveniently located in the same building as my doctor's office but quite honestly I would rather go anywhere else in the world but there to get my testing done. just had blood drawn for my physical at this location. i was able to make an appt online and the app gave me a scan code which made checking in seamless. i was only there a few minutes when i was called back for my appt. my phlebotomist was Blanca and she was great. not only was she friendly, she was excellent and taking blood with no discomfort. i was in and out in less than ten minutes. the only downside of this place is that the parking is quite crowded. leave yourself a little extra time to find a spot if you come in the middle of the day. read more

Other reviewers have written about the excessive wait times and their complaints are on target. It doesn't matter whether you've scheduled an appointment or just walked in off the street, this Quest location seems to see clients based on a first-come-first-serve basis. It's like making a reservation at a restaurant and having the hostess tell you that there will be an hour and a half wait because of all of the walk-ins ahead of you. I write that this seems to be their approach but there's no way of knowing for certain since NO ONE communicates with you and they project an attitude that your presence is somehow disrupting them. This location also once lost my blood sample and claimed I'd never even been there. However, I had made an appointment and still had my confirmation e-mail. I received a phone call of apology from a higher-up but still had to go back in a second time. If your insurance requires you to use Quest, don't use this location. Denise was very courteous and helpful both on the phone and in person. There was no wait; we were seen right away. Results were back in 24 hours. By contrast, the Olney Quest was HORRIBLE!!! The tech was so rude, loud, and unprofessional that I thought we were being Punk'd! She incorrectly answered my question then proceeded to scream at me and deny her response. I have been coming here to do blood works for many years but right before this Christmas I had the worst experience with a tech (Blanca) here, and went elsewhere. Mind you I am two time kidney transplant patient along with two heart stent surgeries and I used to be on hemodialysis many years before. Therefore before every blood works being done I inform the techs of my arm (scar tissues, etc.) but this time before I could finish informing this tech (Blanca) I was rudely told not to tell her how to do her job?! I was shocked and when decided to get up to leave she further stated that I was being disrespectful to which I replied she was actually the disrespectful one as I had done this bloodworks over 30 years and not sure what her problem was. Obviously if this tech (Blanca) couldn't be bothered to just listen 30 seconds to patients telling them about the condition of their arms then obviously she has no business trying to draw blood from people following their doctor's orders. I would never go here again. The parking is not good, but at least you can get a space, you just may have to walk a little bit (not the worst thing). The problems are all due to organizational design. There is only 1 receptionist. The check-in system is lackluster. You sign the clipboard and wait until called, which takes a good while. Once you are called, you go back and stand at the counter to go through the particulars of your visit with the one receptionist who just screamed your name into the lobby from her chair for you to go back. After she plugs away at the pc, you sit in another 4-seated waiting bay until called by a tech. Once in the room with them, life is good! But the entire process of getting there sucks. I went today and it was THE WORST EVER! If I didn't start to see the process moving along where I'd be called soon, I would've walked out. While I was writing on the clipboard after walking in, the receptionist was pulling it down toward her to read who she had to call next, without saying excuse me or "can I look at this really quick" or nothing. I WAS WRITING ON IT mind you. As I waited the 20 minutes in the lobby, I hear the receptionist call out everyone's name, despite the waiting room being a rather large, rectangular shape where you can't see the front desk from all angles. So there were others waiting, repeating names and asking if it's you since she wouldn't raise from her chair to come get you or even go to the glass window to call for you louder. Being hearing impaired, this pissed me off! I can't necessarily hear your muffled voice through a glass in a waiting lobby full of people talking and baby crying. Once talking with the receptionist, she was flat. Almost rude. I walk through the door not knowing where to go, as there's no signage, and she flags me over. She didn't explain the process from the beginning and didn't here either. She finally asked me to sit in the waiting bay, which was a breezeway hall with open specimen boxes for people to dump their urine, I almost just passed out. A guy brought his piss over, wrote on it and left it right in front of us waiting on a tech. I don't want to be that close to anyone's specimen and I don't think that's private (PII) nor congenial. The waiting in the breezeway was just like the lobby-I still waited over 10 minutes there too. A tech and patient apparently knew each other and were conversing loudly in that same area about personal business that was just a tad tacky considering others were all up in it. It was all just bad! Once the guy tech came to get me, life was better. He was friendly, quick and efficient. I felt bad for leaving him there to work after he drew my blood. Go here only if you have to. This place is UNBELIEVABLY RUDE. I never want to come back here again because that's the kind of atmosphere and vibe that the workers give. I've never written a review before but I think this place deserves one because it makes me so upset to even think about it. I went with my mom and we went up to the front desk where my mom signed in and the person working at the front desk didn't even care to look at us when she rudely said to just sit down and wait to be called. We didn't even know she was speaking to us. There were a lot of people waiting there so it was understandable that the wait would be long. But, we ended up waiting for an hour and a half before being able to go in and my name was never even called. People who came before me started getting called in so my mom went up to ask why I wasn't called. And we saw that my name was already crossed off on the list and they skipped over my name. The person at the front desk didn't even bother to apologize and replied "well things happen" all we were really hoping for was a simple apology but instead she was speaking to us with an extremely rude tone as if we were the ones who made the mistake. I even saw her rolling her eyes and making faces when she thought we weren't looking which upset me even more. This is a horrible place to get your labs done. I made an 8:30am appointment and arrived at 8:15am. It's 9:00am and I still haven't been called back. What's the use in making an appointment if you not going to follow through.
