Tuesday morning, after speaking to at least four companies, based on their initial fee, response time, and availability, I'm so glad I went with Appliance Repair SFM. Jake was our technician and I was impressed how he quickly started to take apart the dryer and inspect what was wrong with it. I was anticipating the dreadful answer of buying a new one, and thankfully that wasn't the outcome. Jake showed me that the belt was worn out and the inside of the drum that had some type of plastic covering over the metal was gone and needed replacing, it also needed a good cleaning. Jake told me how much parts were plus labor, which was reasonable rather than buying a new dryer! Since he had to order parts, he would finish the project by Thursday or Friday and he gave me his business card if I had additional questions. I didn't hear from Jake on Wednesday, so I called him, and he picked up! He said the parts weren't in yet and he'd contact me on Thursday, which he did, in addition to setting up a time on Friday he'd come by to complete the project. In conclusion, Jake was a pleasure to work with. He's responsive, respectful, honest, and didn't try to upsell me on anything. I'd definitely contact him again if I do have other repairs needed.

When I questioned the charge, the technician told me he could not leave my property until I paid the $60, which made me feel pressured and uncomfortable. What concerned me even more was when I asked the technician which company he was with, he told me "ACE." I specifically asked if he meant ACE in Hacienda Heights, which is a completely different company, and he said yes. It wasn't until afterward that I discovered the actual company name through Thumbtack. After this happened, I had to create an account to see the actual company name and the full pricing information, including the $60 fee. I understand service fees are common, but I believe they should be clearly communicated upfront, especially when communication is being handled through text. Customers should also be given accurate information about who is providing the service. Overall, the lack of transparency and the way the situation was handled left me feeling misled and uncomfortable.

Our gas alarm went off, so we called the gas company, and they believed the pressure regulator was the issue. Vahan came out and spent a good hour thoroughly checking everything and trying to confirm the leak, but couldn't find one. Instead of just guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily, he took the extra step of contacting Thor directly. They told him this is a known issue with these regulators and that they can sometimes have a very minimal leak. Vahan explained everything clearly and went over our options: replace the regulator to be safe or leave it as-is since he wasn't able to detect a leak. We decided we'd rather be safe and replace it. The part came in quickly, and Vahan returned to install it. He really took his time afterward checking everything again to make sure it was safe and working properly. Really happy with Angel Sky Appliance and especially Vahan. Thorough, knowledgeable, honest, and never felt like he was trying to sell us something we didn't need. I would definitely recommend them.

Online information said it was probably a fan that moves airflow from the freezer to the fridge. Maybe a motor or a control board. The service tech came to my house to look at the fridge. This took about 10 minutes. I had already pulled the fridge out and had it ready to be checked. The tech just pushed some buttons on the fridge controls and read out a code within minutes. Nothing removed or taken apart. Based on the code, the cost for repair would be $824! Not to mention that the warranty would only be a few months. I could have done the same thing with the buttons and gave him the code to avoid a $95 service call. He could have then told me that he would charge me over $800 for the repair. Not too happy to be charged over $500 an hour for diagnostic work. People think about this before you commit to a $95 service call fee! I bought a new side by side refrigerator/freezer for $1100 (with 10% off coupon) from Home Depot.
